"Thanks!" to many of you, including Life as a cat & Fabulous Florida Mommy (in this post), as well as Irina, who shared the following email from J.Crew this morning.
There are new arrivals for men (click here) & women (click here), and Crewcuts (click here).
Once again, I missed that there were a few more additions on jcrew.com this morning. I stopped by my local store (to check out the Hacking Jacket in Double-Serge Wool (Item 51884; $250.00)) and they didn't have anything new out. So I am off to check out what is new...
Did you notice some new arrivals today? What items are you most excited about and why? :)
I love the majesty coat! In every color. But I'm still stuck on deciding on a wool capri color!
ReplyDeleteI adore the Emmett ankle boots and the Marguerite dress in jade. If I hit the lottery I'll buy myself the gorgeous Mackintosh tattersal coat.
ReplyDeleteThe Edith Miller dress is very odd. I love stripes and I love T shirt dresses, but this one is really off the mark - maybe it is the styling.
I'm baffled by the endless parade of Darby loafers - I see big markdowns in both the near and long term for these.
I'm stocking up on the perfect fit tees (I live in them on the weekends!), but I was wondering if anyone has seen them in the stores and can verify if that "pine" color is really as vivid a green as it looks. I know the online versions don't always match up in real life.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to see that waffles are back (thermals, now) - my previous waffle tee is from 06-07 but still going strong. I may check out the thermal sweatshirt. Love the houndstooth plaid toggle coat, but that price - ouch.
ReplyDeleteNot really in love with some of the colors (some just read spring to me), but there do seem to be a lot of options. Prices are still as high as ever - but I'm counting on markdowns within 2 weeks (ha!). Also not loving that the Edith Miller collaboration items are "Imported". Aren't they usually made in Pennsylvania?
Has anyone seen the Fiesta Purple Majesty Peacoat in person? I'm wondering about the colour - I love the slightly more muted purple in the model shot at the top of this post, but on the product page it looks Crayola-bright, which I'm less keen on for myself. Same thing with the Warm Lemon - I like the colour in the shot on the jcrew.com homepage, but not nearly as much on the product page.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone seen either of these in person, and if so can you comment on the colour IRL? TIA!
I need those floral taffeta capris, why oh why aren't they marked down yet? And if anyone beats me to the 00's -you must sell them to me when you're tired of them or when they split at the butt, whichever comes first.
ReplyDeleteNeed I say it? The pencil tweed skirt, of course. :)
ReplyDeleteCaitlin, I saw the new colors of Majesty peacoat in store couple weeks ago. Yellow is very similar to Winnie peacoat color from last year or was it two years ago? I woudl describe it as neutral yellow, not citron, not orange and not fluorescent. The purple is TDF and am I not even into purples in general. I would say it is similar to the picture on this blog but monitors vary. It is a warm, clean purple, not pink or blue, bright but not fluorescent. I guess it is a true jewel tone, amethyst.
ReplyDeleteI like the paisley blouse and skirt. I saw it in store, styled like on the website with skirt and blouse together with a belt and I think it actually works. I think it is because the are similar weight and the colors are the same. Sometimes with different fabric the colors are a little off and then it looks like just too much pattern. But this will actually fool many peaple into thinking you are wearing a dress, especially with a belt. So if you buy both pieces you can wera them three way. If it was a dress I think it would be very pretty so why not?
ReplyDeleteI also like the new colors of cafe trousers but I am not sure if I would actually wear bright colored trousers, or is it too trendy?
I also like the new polka dot shirt but I wish it was in navy and not so see through.
The acorn earings and new locket necklace are also pretty.
Bourbon&Pearls, I saw a TON of them in the sale section at my store today. Not sure if they would do a charge send internationally (I hope I'm remembering correctly that you live abroad) but may be worth giving them a call. It's the store at 347 Madison Avenue and it looks like they had a lot of sizes so a 00 may be among them!
ReplyDeleteLove this new rollout much more than the October one. Ordered the Suzette blouse in ripe melon along with the FS Elodie in the gorgeous bright dahlia, but there's so much more I want! Will be patient and wait for the rest to go on sale or promo.
ReplyDeleteRose, I'm with you! That skirt is beautiful!!! I had to have it!
ReplyDeleteany chance there will be a promo soon like the 20% off for cardholders deal? i think that's the only thing holding me back from another purchase.
ReplyDeleteHad to laugh a bit at the Harvest Tweed cafe capris -- the model's rear view is unfortunate. They look like they're made of mud and hay. Truly in keeping with the fall season! LOL!
ReplyDeleteI wish when the new items came out it was at the catalog release as well...I love browsing the catalog for inspiration. I am lusting for the majesty coat in purple as well and may have to purchase. I received my cafe wool capri in dahlia yesterday (finally) and I LOVE them....I think these will go from year to year. I understand hesitation on some of the color capri pants that came out today...I really like the red/vibrant orange color but not sure. I noticed the tartan plaid blouse is out again (I purchased last year). I also like the silk blythe in bright azalea....and think that could be nice for spring as well.
ReplyDeleteBourbon & Pearls, there were also quite a few at the store in Tyson's Corner, VA: 703 734 9555. Actually, I just called and they are holding a 0 (for me) and a 00 for you if you want it. It is $100 less 30%, so $70.
ReplyDeleteI was just there yesterday and picked up the dress (a remarkable $56) and the skirt in that print, and didn't even think to try the capris as that could be overload. But I should have.
If you want to call them, it is in my name (Audrey), or I can even pick it up for you and ship it.
I love the bright dahlia shirtdress; it's so pretty! Actually, I love pretty much everything in that color as it's just so vibrant and fun.
ReplyDeleteDid anyone notice the tipped hacking jacket went up to $298 from $250???
ReplyDeleteOT - Serious restock of the sale section just now. Still nothing for me though. Unless someone says the matchsticks in cloud 9 wash are the best thing ever. Then I might bite.
ReplyDeletecousy, Mickey or Jenna must have been spending time in Palm Beach and brought back a pair of Stubbs and Wootton to copy. They look like old fart slippers to me.
ReplyDeleteThe Mackintosh wool coat is nice but I hate when the fabric doesn't align like on the sleeves. Little details like that drive me nuts.
@Sunny Yes! I knew I wasn't going crazy!! I almost ordered the spicy gold one yesterday, and when I went to order it today, I noticed the price increase! I'm so upset!!
ReplyDeleteThe Talia top in the beautiful Royal Paisley print is made of viscose/rayon! It should be made of silk for the price they're asking. What are they thinking?! I hope this doesn't signal the beginning of a further decline in quality.
ReplyDeleteTwigglyWiggly, agreed! I thought it was silk jersey until I touched it.
ReplyDeleteAudreys: Oh please pretty please! My email is bourbonandpearls@btinternet.com, I can pay you with paypal, thank you so much!
ReplyDeleteDara: Thanks for that, I don't think they'd be set up to send from the store to UK, but thank you so much, I'm taking Audreys up on her uber kind offer.
ReplyDeleteBourbon & Pearls, email on its way to you!
ReplyDeleterynetta PhD, I will be checking it out this weekend.
ReplyDeleteThere are a few things that I'm interested in. I don't understand why new items won't be in b&m's until October 25??? Anyway, I like the crochet lace tee and hope the white isn't sheer. The pintuck lace shell looks like it would be pretty under blazers and cardis now and alone in the summer. I love my flare jeans so I was excited to see them available in black. If we get a cardholder discount, these will be mine. :) I'm curious about the Elsie skirt in nightfall floral - could be really good or really bad. I love the cafe trouser in both green and red, but I think the green would be something I'd wear for the years while the red might be too trendy. However, I think the garland high waisted cords are a prettier green, and machine washable vs. dry clean, so I'll probably go with those. If the red bootcut cords make it to super sale, then I'll pick them up and not feel bad if I only wear them for a couple of years. I'll hang on to them though, b/c colored pants will probably be back in at some point in the future. I wonder why none of the new colors in the #2 pencil skirt aren't available yet?
ReplyDeleteI do love a number of the new items. Some very pretty colors, and loving those thermals for our cold winters. Cute little gold buttons and in stripes, my fave.
ReplyDeleteTwigglyWiggly -- SO disappointing!! I was swooning over the paisley Talia, and just assumed it was the same silk as the solids. Unreal that they would charge so much more for that blend -- what, b/c it's a print?
Cannot even believe that they just jacked up the price of the hacking jacket. They must think we're complete idiots.
math teacher, I saw the Elsie skirt yesterday in the store and it is very disappointing. It looks super-cheap (like H&M cheap) and it is unlined. It will make it to the sale racks soon IMO.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone tried the School Boy Blazer in Donegal Tweed? How is the fit and most importantly, is it scratchy?
ReplyDeleteEma, thanks for the info. That's very disappointing but I knew it could go either way.
ReplyDeleteThat's too bad about the tipped hacking. They must've made a mistake on the price when they listed it. However, after so long at that price it's a shame to jack it up. Consider instead the Factory professor blazer, which is on promo for $168. Try applying MUSTHAVE for 30% off thru tonite. Pretty good deal, imo. I'm just not doing $250, much less $298, for the hacking. Review of the retail hacking in this post.
ReplyDeleteAgree that it's ludicrous to raise the price after an item has already been out for some time. Only J.Crew...
ReplyDeleteI clicked through Gigi's link to the factory professor and was looking around. Saw that the factory eden is on promo for $59.50 only, with extra 30%. Not a bad deal and not final sale if you're looking for a velvet jacket.
I'm in totally agreement re: annoyance at the price increase of the tipped jacket. I was waiting to see what new stuff was available today to order, and didn't bother after see that.
ReplyDeleteI really like the tall Emmett boots, and glad they come in Extended Calf!
ReplyDeletegigi, I tried the Factory Professor blazer and blogged about it here. It is a cheap alternative -- in my opinion so NOT worth the $168!
ReplyDeleteJust sat down to look at the new rollout. I am dying over the new bright azalea colour of the Blythe shirt dress. I am buying it as soon as I can drum up some funds!!!
ReplyDeleteRose thanks for sharing your link :)
ReplyDeleteSubscribing. :)
ReplyDeleteSome of the new things are beautiful but -- what's up with the pricing? 200 bucks for the Blythe blouse??
ReplyDeleteI am with everyone,I like quite a few things, and finally made a wishlist (having not really bought anything from JC for a while) , but yes, I also saw the price increase in the tipped Blazer and I was interested in the ivory one since I missed out on the ivory Lexington.... This together with the overall increase in everything, cashmere sweaters etc, is off putting, all though at least for the sweaters those will go on sale - next August maybe... (judging from this year)?! Anyway, maybe I'll stick to things like the crochet lace tee which looks pretty. I did get the abstract floral Maisie dress on sale for around $50 w discounts the other day and I actually love it. I am hoping the coat that is on the front of the Oct catalog goes on sale since I've tried it on and I want it and have nothing like it but would prefer not to pay full price. It is the same price as my collection coat from 07 but without as much detail (inner piping etc), but IRL I do find it lovely.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy that Tabitha is getting her pants! Audrey you are the best.
ReplyDeleteIsn't there usually an outerwear promo this time of year? I love the peacoats(swoon) but was holding off for a promo.
ReplyDeleteOrdered the Polka-dot Popover and the Nightfall Floral skirt last night. I've been looking for a fuller printed skirt that was also work appropriate, length-wise, and I like the colors in that print a lot. If it's as cheap as the JCA's are reporting, I'll exchange it for the Jenna Cardigan in the same print.
ReplyDeleteWould love to order the Blythe Shirtdress in Bright Dahlia, but it definitely looks like an item I'd need to try on first.
so dissapointed in the new cashmere colors...trying to buy the heather camel...was told by a personal shopper they were getting more in...not so
ReplyDeleteMissNLove- I was disappointed too that there was not additional hthr camel. It is still available in the cashmere cable and the boyfriend v-neck. You could snag one of those.
ReplyDeleteI'm falling in love with the red Biennel bag now that I can see it on the models! Here's hoping it gets reduced in price a bit - $348 before taxes is just TOO much.
ReplyDeleteCan anyone comment on Factory wool elements coat. Would appreciate very much.
ReplyDeleteMy November catalog came in the mail on Friday so just in time! Good job, J.Crew:)
ReplyDeleteI noticed while looking through the Crewcuts new arrivals that there is now "BABY"! Cashmere sweaters and blankets from JC, the rest are high-priced-but-gorgeous layette stuff from 3rd parties. Might be nice for gifts I guess.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter LOVES the chinos in the wildcat print but I would need a promo to justify $68 pants. An economical alternative would be the knit leggings, but you can get those anywhere. The description says there are women's products in that print, but I don't see anything.
I have had fantastic luck with factory kid's items and am so excited to finally see those online!
Mags,
ReplyDeleteI have bought my young daughter several end of season sale cashmere pieces from Lands End. Excellent quality and worth it when we lived in a very cold climate a few years ago.
