NYFW Spring 2012: J.Crew's Stunning Lincoln Center DebutI love that image of the "J.Crew girl goes to Europe for Spring". Ooh la la! And now for the best part... the photos! Just click on any of the images for a larger view.

The Venue: The Studio at Lincoln Center ...the catwalk was transformed into a presentation stage for onlookers to view J.Crew's men's and women's collections.
The Scene: Lots of important stylists (Susan Joy), bloggers (Susie Bubble) and pretty much every editor in existence came out to support Jenna Lyons and her designers, Marissa Webb and Frank Mujtens. Oh, and Beyonce and Solange Knowles, too! Beyonce arrived at the morning presentation in a dress covered in gold sequins.
The Look: The J.Crew girl goes to Europe for spring. She's wearing her favorite preppy basics like colorful slacks and stripey tops, but she's mixing them in with silk pajama blouses, mint green leather bags and 1950s-style day dresses.
What We Want to Buy: I will undoubtedly be purchasing the matchy-matchy blue floral peplum top and trousers. And maybe the navy and red striped house coat. But who am I kidding? I want everything!

That navy coat looks very promising!
ReplyDeleteI love the coat at the very top with the striped skirt - and the long sleeveless dress is to die for! I think this looks very fresh and chic - hope the quality is there!
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to look at spring when there are so many spring/summer items still in the FS section. I'm just getting into Fall! :)
ReplyDeleteI am really looking forward to the cooler weather ahead and don't even want to think about spring right now.
ReplyDeleteThis European girl dreams of going to America in the spring!
ReplyDeleteLove the color!
ReplyDeletesub:)
ReplyDeletei really like that sleeveless red printed dress in the top left... but it's too cold to really be thinking about spring stuff... i'm going through all my sweaters and coats now.
ReplyDeleteLove the leopard purse!
ReplyDeleteTabitha, I'll be in the US on the 20th, It will be the first time that I will see a J. Crew store.
ReplyDeleteI spy many things to covet. Love the slouchy silhouette of many of the tops, and the mix-n-match patterns.
ReplyDeleteCris, oh you lucky hound!
ReplyDeleteDo you know I got pick pocketed on my first ever trip to J Crew, at The Grove in LA, can you believe it? They swiped my camera and purse out of my bag, I was too gaga over being in the store and didn't noticed giant mitts rifling my bag.
I don't know about the dresses but the separates look great. I'm not a sequins person, but that pink sequined skirt with the matching pink top looks amazing.
ReplyDeleteTabitha, I am so sorry, that's what I expect to happen here in Italy, not in LA!
ReplyDeleteI will be in Boston, but I will be careful!
Oh the white dress in the last picture...I am dying.
ReplyDeleteLoooooooove the first two dresses. Also love the hot pink silk blouse. I may have to have that! Some of the stuff is weird like the sequin pencil skirt, but I am happy to see colors and unique looking patterns/styles.
ReplyDeleteLoving the brown polka dot blouse and the green tote, but otherwise these looks are a pass for me. I'm just way more of a fall/winter clothes person I realize - love the rich colors and thick, luxurious fabrics - which is probably for the best since I've been doing so much damage this collection that I expect to be broke by spring! ;)
ReplyDeleteOn a side note, I ventured this week into the depths of my closet and found about 4 summer skirts and 5 sundresses, all JC, which I'd forgotten about all summer long. Probably a good reason to take my grandmother's advice and start shopping in my own closet.
I don't like the lookbook photos, but I never do. Yes, I know I need to look past the styling and at each individual piece but it's the styling that turns me off. Blue and white print jacket with brown and cream striped skirt and leopard purse and heels - to some this is daring and exciting mix of patterns. To me, I think "ridiculous" and "next!"

ReplyDeleteOT, but there is ochre ikat size 12 pencil skirt on ebay with BIN of $19.99. It says worn once. Not my auction but I thought somebody may like it:

Love this post! I don't care for fall/winter clothing and I am already fighting and not wearing any until I have to esp. with a high of 79 today:) Love to look at spring clothing!
ReplyDeleteI like the color palette and the stripes, but the floral prints and some of the silhouettes aren't doing anything for me. At this point, that's good news (for me and my checking acct. tee hee!).
ReplyDeleteI definitely love some items, and others I know won't fit in with the rest of my wardrobe or won't flatter my body shape. However, I love LOVE love the leopard handbag (and the darker green in the same style). I was going to save my pennies for the leopard Edie, but am wondering if I should hold out for this larger leopard version. Decisions, decisions...
ReplyDeleteThe navy/red striped coat. I'd pre-order that one right now if I could. And the little cream jacket with the red piping is AH-dorable.
ReplyDeleteI'm always excited to see shorts with long sleeves. My favorite looks are the ones with the models wearing glasses!
ReplyDeleteColors are lovely but it's hard to think about Spring when I haven't worn 90% of my Fall haul yet :)
ReplyDeleteAs much as I still love many of J Crew's styles, colors, etc...it's a bit hard to overlook the quality issues now.
ReplyDeleteCan you believe I bought a bubble necklace (the black) .
It was in the store case, and I asked one of my favorite SA's to get it for me (their last one). She put it in a cloth bag. When I got it home, one of the stones has a big chip on it! Called them right away, and will be returning it. And you know what that necklace cost! Too much for a necklace described as "18K plated acetate" - on the net a porter site. Really? What was I thinking!
I echo Fab Florida Mommy! Bring on the holidays and cold weather!
ReplyDeleteBut, the navy polka-dot (I think) shorts and the yellow pair both look very cute!!
YES I'm so excited about the new collection! I'm all about a floral - anywhere, any time!

Hmm...not sure what to think. I'm not a big color person and I just HATE the baggy blouse with the baggy pants look. Even close up, it doesn't make sense. But maybe I'll change my mind, come January or February...
ReplyDeleteLove the leopard handbag (and the green one that seems to be the same style). I was dying for an Edie purse because of its gorgeous classic shape but ultimately passed because it'd be too small. This new bag for spring makes me forget all about Edie though - another classic shape but just the right size. Can't wait!
