Weekly Share: Other JCrew-like Retailers

This is the weekly "Other JCrew-like Retailers" post (similar to the "Off On A Tangent" posts), where we can share our finds from other retailers that have offerings similar to J.Crew (like LE Canvas, Gap, BR, Talbots, Ann Taylor, and the like.)

If you have recently encountered items that are similar to J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including experiences with certain merchandise pieces, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

    I'd like to try Lilly Pulitzer. How does the sizing on their dresses run? I normally wear a 4 in perfect fit shirts. Any help would be appreciated. TIA!!

    Not sure how widespread Aritzia stores are in the US, but they carry a brand called Wilfred that makes some lovely silk blouses of all styles and colours this season, very similar to what JC is doing for a similar price point. Wilfred also has new stand-alone stores in Canada.

    I did a wardrobe consultation for a friend recently and she was looking for dressier casual clothes appropriate for her casual business environment. I picked out a few outfits from Zara, Old Navy and Banana Republic and I have posted IRL pics (as modelled by my friend) on my blog here. All three stores have some great pieces that are worth checking out, especially Zara, which has some really nice silk blouses and wool coats. Those of you who may be interested, BR's Madeline skirt is a nice (and less expensive) alternative to JC's Flair skirt. The Madeline skirt is an A-line skirt in thick cotton twill/flannel. It is not pleated but it does have pockets. All of the clothes I chose for my friend are suitable for tall, full-figured women.

    Banana has 40% off on one item in store today with an email; the email was delivered this morning. Typically, BR is good about honoring their sales even if you don't bring in the email.

    Can anyone comment on how long it normally takes a Boden order that has been shipped directly from the UK to arrive? I bought some shoes weeks ago, they supposedly shipped last Tuesday, getting impatient... because I want those darn shoes before it starts snowing and all I can wear are rubber boots!

    In my experience, Boden stuff shipped from UK takes about 1 to 2 weeks to arrive in the U.S. It varies. But I think you will receive your order soon!

    Yay, my Boden order came today! A week was right on. Too bad the shoes are totally weird, long and skinny, way too high cut; just generally fugly. So sad.

    I know Sephora is not J.Crew-like, but I'm betting tons of JCAs shop there. I bought my mom's xmas gift from there today and was checking out, and got to the 100-point or 500-point perk page. Um, today the 100 point perks are a 12 OUNCE Philosophy Purity made simple, 3.3 ounce PTR Anti Aging Cleansing Gel, and the other one is the Murad Clarifying Cleanser, also a large size though I can't remember it exactly. They are 10000 times better than the 500 point perk IMO, and much bigger and better than what the 100 point perks usually are.

    I just felt the need to share this! I have already placed a second order of something on my wishlist just so I could get another Purity.

    Tory Burch is having a one day Facebook sale on their Penny Loafers today (Thursday), they are $125 marked down from $250, with free shipping. I've seen them in person, and LOVE the red color, I found them to be true to size.

    WARNING: you have to enter their store through their FB site in order to get the $125 price, otherwise they are marked down to $175.
