Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SUMMER sale, or to see some new FALL arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. Def. not! Enough on backorder to arrive over the next couple of months from the 25% and 30% off sales!
But would love to hear what everyone is seeing in their stores, as ours is a lower level store that rarely gets the items I'm interested in!

  2. I'm spent out. JC got my money last weekend in addition to all the other stores that had sales. It's looking like I will just wrap whatever still has tags on it for Christmas and I'm totally good with that.

  3. I don't think so. Thanks to the chic chauffeur I found an Encore so I think that's good for me :)

  4. I'll probably pop in to try on some items for sizing. I'm waiting on an outerwear sale ::fingers crossed::

Anyone know when final sale is set to end? Feels like its. Is going on longer than before.

    ReplyDelete
  5. prob just Talbots - they have a 50% off one full price item, in store only on Saturday

    ReplyDelete
  6. Disappointing to see Final Sale is still sticking around - it was "Fall Sale" by this time the last 2-3 years.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Yes, I got the 50% off Talbots one item coupon so will be making a quick stop just to that store in the morning.

Unfortunately, won't be shopping J.Crew as long as final sale is there.

  8. I went yesterday. Some pretty things, but nothing I have to have. I ordered the wrong boots on the 25% off sale and I'm praying for another discount so I can get the right ones.

OT, but I've been seeing a lot of JC on TV lately. Natalie Morales is wearing the Talia top in the paisley pattern this AM.

  9. I need to pop in to find my Mother in law a gift for Christmas, she specifically requested something from Jcrew. I'm shopping early because I have an opportunity for someone to hand deliver all our gifts to our families out of state. I'm taking advantage of it since shipping cost us $$$$ last year! My only worry is 30 day return policy, does that apply to gift receipts? Do they extend the return period during holidays?

I'll probably stop in my factory location too since I need to go to Carter's in the same mall to get my lil one footie pj's. One thing I love about winter - footie pj's on little ones!

  10. I'm actually trying out a personal shopper for the first time tonight. I'm a little nervous that I'll be pressured into spending a lot of money. Any tips?

    ReplyDelete
  11. I'll be stopping in to make a return.

OT, but I'm going to start some Christmas shopping early (at least that is my intent!) and am looking for some ideas for little girls. I was thinking Crewcuts? I'd be shopping for a 7 & 9 year old girls.

    Thanks!

  12. dawn- I asked how long a gift receipt gives you to return a store purchase and was told it is still only 30 days. I'm not sure what the holiday policy will be but hopefully they can accomodate you.

    ReplyDelete
  13. anyone know how the Factory chunky Fair Isle funnelneck sweater holds up, in reference to shedding? I don't shop Factory but I liked this sweater last year but was turned off by how easily it shed.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Oh that is ridiculous, 30 days for a GIFT RECEIPT? Guess what, j.scrooge, I won't be buying presents from you.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Barbabelle - I don't know what the holiday policy will be though, I was just told that for the regular gift receipt policy which still seems short. I'd still ask at the store because sometimes we're told different things. :)

I imagine that they'll extend the timeline for Christmas, it would be terrible service if they don't.

  16. I will visit to return my Cafe Capri pants in Jeweled Jacquard. I have a size 6 if someone was planning on purchasing and wants to set up a transaction through pay pal.

I'm also taking my no.2 double serge wool pencil skirt in to see if they will fix the hole for free. If they won't fix it, I'll just return even though my color is no longer available (viridian green).

    ReplyDelete
  17. Inboximpulse, I hope they will fix your skirt. I'm nervous about wearing my new ones now, since you and Hexicon both had issues with the back seam.

I'm curious, why are you returning the capris?

    ReplyDelete
  18. xoxo - I'm returning the jacquard capri crops for a couple of reasons:
    - the material is not jacquard. It's a print on a wool, silk and nylon blend. I was hoping that these would have a great texture but there is none.
    - I don't think the colors are as bright as they appear online. The print online looks like it has more pinks and purples while IRL, the pants have more yellow.
    - The fit is not that of the wool cafe capris. I ordered my regular size in those and these were more baggy. My husband loves my bright dahlia cafe capris but said that these were just too baggy.

The pants do feel well made as they are a collection item. They are fully lined in a light purple polyester. The lining with the material makes for a nice, solid capri.

Maybe I'll give them another run through this afternoon. I was really disappointed last night because I really wanted to love these pants!

    ReplyDelete
  19. InboxImpulse, that is disappointing. The pants looked like jacquard to me but I didn't look that closely. A print is something else entirely and they should not have listed them as jacquard. I was curious because there was a lot of buzz about these pants, no way would I be brave enough to wear them though!

I'm always annoyed when the colors are misrepresented online and in this case, the product was misrepresented as well. Good thing they are not final sale.

  20. I just may hit the stores this weekend, but not 100% sure yet.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I might go if the stores are still doing the 30% off. Can anyone report back?
I like the black gimmlet tweed skirt and I would like to try it on but not sure that the stores have received....

    ReplyDelete
  22. InboxImpulse, I hear you on the texture - the wonderful PS I dealt with last Saturday really explained what they were like to me, so I think I am prepared, but am hoping they are not too baggy! I have the cafe capris in dahlia, too - am thinking we have very similar tastes!

    ReplyDelete
  23. WMM - Please let me know your thoughts on the fit and color for you. I really want to love these pants!

    ReplyDelete
  24. InboxImpulse!

You will die when I tell you this - I just got a call from JCrew - was wondering why they had not shipped yet! They are now all sold out except for 00!!! I think I am not meant to have them and will move on wit my life and style those floral capris to within an inch of their life! Maybe they would have been baggy on me too - I have very skinny legs!

    ReplyDelete
  25. WMM - Good golly! You've been put through the ringer for these pants!

I believe you ordered a size 6, and I'd be willing to send you mine if you want them (only paid $150 with the 25% discount).

I like your "it's not meant to be attitude." I tell myself that a lot when I can't find something in my size.

  26. Went the other day and tried on some new items (which I will get to posting on my blog soon). Love the new talia top in stripe. It fits differently than the other one and I really love. Wish it came in more colors.
Anyone see 30% off still happening?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Can someone comment on the length/fit of the petite cafe capri? I am a definite pear shape and am not sure whether they will fit/flatter.

    ReplyDelete
  28. ema-- i have the gimlet skirt in the coral/camel color... i sized up from a 4 to a 6 like i did with the flair skirt in double serge wool.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I'm not sure if I'll visit the store, unless they have the matchstick cords in violet. Has anyone seen or tried these on? How do they compare to last year's cords in sizing, and is the color versatile? Is it the same color as the lolli? TIA

  30. I stopped into a store at lunch and did NOT see any extra % off. :( Nothing exciting anyway.

  31. I've been unable to get the Brompton Hobo out of my head, but I've read some not-so-happy Brompton reviews. Anyone out there have any good experiences with this particular JCrew purse? I like a bigger bag to haul my water bottle, Nook, and a couple other extras. Any input, good or bad? Thanks in advance!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Meggers:

I have the Brompton hobo in carob (which may be a discontinued color) and I really like it. It is super soft and definitely seems to be aging the way I expect fine leather to, with a nice patina.

It is also super roomy, but things can get lost in the depths. I decided to get one of those pouch things (mine is the "kangaroo") to help me organize my littler items.

I don't know how the suede looks or feels, but I can give a thumbs up to the original leather version.

    ReplyDelete
  33. inboximpulse,

I am looking for the 6 for sure -if you have tried them on again and they are just not working, drop me a line at sydforry@hotmail.com

thanks! And if you have decided to keep them, enjoy them! :-)

  34. Cucina,
I wear a size 0 in the cafe capri and tried a petite 2. I felt the shorter length of the petite was not really flattering on me (I'm 5'2"). It made me look shorter or stubby and did not flatter. I also felt like it gave me a wedgey :). I am sticking with size 0 because the length hits me at the ankle and it looked more flattering on me. Also, I felt the shorter length for petite would be too cold if I were to wear these during the winter.
But still wouldn't hurt to order a pair to try.
    Hope this helps!

  35. Lamenting about the acrylic content at J.Crew here.

  36. Has anyone had any luck getting in-store credit, money back, etc. on a final sale item? I ordered an XS T-shirt that arrived so big that my entire family could fit in it.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Just returned from my factory location - perfect shirts are 40% off, perfect and tissue tees are 50% off, the fair isle funnel neck is 20% off (better deal online!), clearance is an extra 40% off. Holly button and dream button sweaters were $49.99 (again better price online). Most other items were 20%-30% off.

I took home a purple velvet schoolboy for $41 ($70 on clearance), a couple tissue turtle necks and a black white check perfect shirt.

Regarding the fair isle funnel neck, it didn't shed on me or the tissue tneck i wore underneath. I really liked it and put it on my Christmas list.

  38. Went by crewlet tonight. Adding to what dawn listed I also saw the professor blazers on clearance rack for 119.00 with an additional 40% off. Also they had a factory version of the Cece studded ballet flats and the Oxford flat. Both were 89.50 with 20% off. I cant believe they made a factory version....and they are pleather. Boo Tissue turtlenecks were 50% off and had some nice colors. I love the factory perfect tees much more than retail and they ended up being $11! I was hoping to see the wool crewneck striped sweater that is a new arrival online but no luck. Oh also saw the velvet Eden blazer in the pink and it is very pretty!

  39. I got an e-mail last night that Banana Republic is offering 40% off your entire purchase this weekend, in stores only. I'm really tempted to go. I may pop over to JC, which is nearby, if I do.

    ReplyDelete
  40. \well my drama with the jewel jacquards continues... after cancelling me yesterday, the same pants popped back online in my size this morning... the PS i spoke to honoured the 25% off price, and if I do get them, I am pretty sure i am going to have to wear them every day and have some votive candles lit in front of them at night....I am hoping that I like them better than you do, inboximpulse, but honestly, can anything live up to the hype for me?? :-)

  42. Guess what? The Pale Peacock Monas are back in all sizes for shipping by Dec 13th! I thought they were a gonner, but I'm glad they replenished. I know some JCA's are anti-Mona for price and the synthetic interior, but I tried my Brick Reds on and was in love...exactly the minimalist-vintagey red pump for which I've been searching forever. I just jumped on the Pale Peacocks. I had to size up to an 8...I usually do the 7.5's in Jcrew and always wear a 7 in other brands.

Also, dinagideon, thanks for the Brompton advice. I think I'll go for it. I love the leather and the Henna color. Sold.

    ReplyDelete
  43. @Meggers -
Are the Monas ever on sale? I'm loving the red and blue! Thanks for the post!

  44. I visited the Tysons B&M this week. Lots of plaid shirts on final sale (perfect and boy). Lots of navy silk midi skirts, and rose-printed capri pants. I also saw some puff-sleeve Ts, which were originally online-only, in case you'd like to try one on. I just couldn't pull the trigger. I've been dying for something in maraschino cherry for months, and the color isn't as bright in real life. It's kind of a deep, washed-out coral. Sad. :(

    ReplyDelete
  45. @ Lizzy T--The red and peacock, I don't think will last long enough to reach a sale since they've been wait-listed for a really long time in all sizes, and the peacock sold out of each size for a while. If they do go on sale, I don't think they'll last more than a second. However, I'm sure the other colors, since all sizes have been available the entire time, will probably move to a sale eventually. I just snagged my brick reds during the 25% off. The pale peacocks were sold out of my size during that sale. Today, I called to order the 8's in red and send back my 7.5's and saw that the pale peacocks were avail. and waitlisted on all sizes again. So, when I added the pale peacocks, the customer service rep actually gave me the discount on those, too. What an awesome and unexpected move--I was thrilled to get the extra discount. Go JCrew!

  46. Love the blythe blouse in fiesta purple. I was able to size down, which is unusual for me in a button-up. I hope this color makes it to a markdown or they offer a card holder promo soon. 100% silk is a little much for school, but I'd wear it anyway! :)

I also picked up my hemmed maraschino cherry cafe trousers - love them and can't wait to wear them!

  47. Meggers, I have the Brompton hobo in henna...love it. It's my everyday bag, I easily carry my wallet, iPad, makeup case, phone, and various kid items in it. I think the online photos of this bag are a bit deceiving, as it will never look as "full" as the bags in the photo look, unless you stuffed a jacket in there. The handles are long enough that you can put them comfortably on your shoulder, and the henna color is beautiful. The leather on mine now has a few scratches, but I've had it for about 18 months, and I'm not exactly kind to it...I chuck it in stroller baskets, my daughter drags it around, etc.

A great bag, especially if you love the hobo shape.

  48. Ashley - I've been able to return a number of Final Sale orders and received gift cards. I live overseas so I can't try on first! I think others here have had success returning when fit or quality was clearly off. Good luck!

  49. Has anyone seen the Biennial Satchel in person? I'm one of the few where the enormous size would be perfect for a work bag... What about the Viv flats/pumps?

  50. Thanks, Sarah! :) I'll go for it!

  51. FYI for anyone wanting to do the 50% off one item at Talbots: Because of phone orders and the website being deluged with orders and subsequent problems, the offer has been extended through tomorrow. No coupon needed, just tell the SA or customer service rep on the phone that you would like to take advantage of the offer. I got a cashmere cardigan for half off!

    ReplyDelete
  52. The Talbots offer is good through Sunday (always forget the google time is three hours ahead of where I am).

    ReplyDelete
  53. to get the 50% off over the phone, is there a special code?

    ReplyDelete
  54. The Trans--I love the Biennial bag and may get it. I wish it had a shoulder strap, but otherwise it is so great. I think it will fit a laptop in one compartment-but it depends on its size, of course.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Talbots promotion: No code needed. Just tell them you want to take advantage of the 50% off one item.
They got called out on the Talbots Facebook page for only offering it to some customers, so they extended it to everyone.

  56. I went to a B & M Friday night to do some more returns from too much online shopping.

    The Good:
The styling in the store was incredible. Great pops of color, lovely pairings, of course their crazy pairings that I actually love! The coats were gorgeous! I wish I had taken pictures that's how much I loved the outfits.

    The Bad:
The material content of many of the pieces was actually VERY disappointing and cheap looking. They are definitely skimping on quality. I'm actually shocked at how much poly/rayon/acrylic there was.

    The Ugly:
The prices for these really cheaply made clothes! You know they are making a mint off of these!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Went to a local B&M to make a return and place a red phone order for the wintress puffer in shadow. Despite my educator discount and the free shipping, the coat is still a bit pricey, but I know I will wear it a lot in the looming western PA winter.

In exchange for a pair of flats that just didn't work for me, I picked up the Seine stripe silk blouse. Quite different from the "silk scoopneck blouse" (formerly Talia, formerly silk boat blouse -- pick a name, J. Crew!) in terms of fabric and shoulder detail. Also, I found this blouse to be TTS, whereas I had to size down in the blouse with the identity crisis. :) I noticed in the website photo for the blouse that there is a keyhole tie closure on the back, but the blouse I purchased yesterday has a keyhole button closure. An oversight, perhaps? Or are there two versions out?

  58. Went to the mall Sat. night. Was wearing "vintage" J.Crew from about 2003-4 and was so happy with my wardrobe that evening. I did not even go into the store! I think I about caused my husband to have a heart attack. Since when do I go to the mall and not check out J.Crew--well, MillJCrew about sums it up for me in her post above!

    ReplyDelete
  59. Thank you SE Mom for the information about the Talbots offer being extended. I called them (had to wait on the line for quite a bit) and they applied the offer. I also called my store where I had something on hold and I was able to get my item for 50% off as well doing a charge and hold (I am picking up tomorrow).
I posted a fitting room pics post with some of the holiday picks if any of you is interested.
