J.Crew Email: One more chance: NEW STYLES ADDED, EXTRA 30% OFF sale items & FREE SHIPPING on $150+ ends today

"Thanks!" to many of you, including Pansy (in this post), Dinster (in this post), as well as Irina, who shared the following email from J.Crew this morning.

J.Crew is letting us know that new styles have been included in their Summer Sale (click here to shop online). They are also reminding us about the offer to take 30% off all sale items (no min) and free shipping on $150+ with promo code MUSTHAVE. This offer has been extended one more day and now expires Thursday, June 23, 2011.

This offer applies to J.Crew's brick & mortar stores, but this makes it Final Sale. (Just to clarify, Final Sale applies only to in-store sale purchases with the additional 30% percent off.) It is definitely worth a trip to the B&M if you can. I stopped by yesterday and saw a lot of new styles at lower price points than online. For example, they had the Last Straw Ballet Flats (Item 44261; $128.00) on sale for $49.99 (before additional 30% off).

Will you be checking out the Sale section? Are there any items you are hoping to see or to get?

  1. There were some nice additional items added and some good markdowns. Of course I ordered the shortcut sweater last night and then today it was $14 cheaper. Argh! Just reordered it, at least it's not final sale yet!

  2. I REALLY want the jewel trimmed jade dress but am not sure about sizing. Has anyone tried this dress?

Lately some of the dresses have been running really large, but this dress would be a disaster if it was too small... so I can't decide between a 4 and a 6. And this is from Holiday 10 so it might have been pre-makingallthedresseshuge (because IMO, someone who is 5'10" with a 34D chest should NEVER be able to wear a 2!!!)

  3. I placed an order last night and (way too early) this morning and I haven't received my order confirmation emails yet. Does anyone else have this problem?

A mini vent, the Lulu Frost heirloom charm bracelet was $62.99 (AFTER the 30% off discount) when I ordered it last night and found that the price is now $69.99 (BEFORE the 30% off discount). Ugh.I sent them an email, we'll see if they will budge!

On a brighter note, I scored the Italian wool blazecoat in camel for $70 :)

    ReplyDelete
  4. @JCrewJD: Why don't you just buy two sizes, score the free shipping and return the one that doesn't fit?

    ReplyDelete
  5. @OperaRach: I just re-ordered the shortcut sweater too. I already had the navy, and I got the seaside green. I really like the sweater. It has slight skinny arm syndrome (or I just have fat arms). A word of warning, however. My navy one shed like crazy.

I also loaded up on chino and oxford shorts. And I finally I got the Pier Stripe sweatshirt in ivory.

    ReplyDelete
  6. This should probably be a vent, but I had the same issue as iroar for several items - bell skirt and durham slacks off the top of my head. I called CS in the wee hours of the morning for me on the West Coast and they refused to adjust an order I made in the evening yesterday. Hence, I purchased everything over again and fully expect to return the items at the higher rate. This is frustrating that there are further mark downs when I just made a purchase for the same items less than 12 hours earlier. At the end of the day, it is probably a good thing since the price at least went lower rather than bouncing up like they sometimes do. I just hate running up my credit card though.....

  7. Happy I checked to see if the lace-over tank had been added to sale -- it was! I bought one in every color (but for the taupe, which I already had), wheeeeeeee. :)

    ReplyDelete
  8. Was happy to see the Eyelet pencil skirt in Caspian Blue added...ended up getting it for $55! I've never seen an Eyelet pencil skirt make it to that good of a sale price.

Also got the Ruched Femme swim tank...has anyone tried this that can comment on sizing? I only have one tank from jc but it was a sample from the warehouse so I have no idea how this will fit. Sounds like buying swimwear from JC is kind of a gamble these days...thank goodness for no final sale.

  9. Finally some Matchstick jeans in the sale! Just ordered cropped and regular lengths. GREAT price with the extra 30% off!

  10. Thanks for the heads up on the sale!

I have a question...Can anyone tell me if the Stadium Cloth Peacoat would be too hot for late October in New York? I'm taking my first trip to New York this fall and am trying to find an appropriate preppy jacket :)

    ReplyDelete
  11. The one thing I'm contemplating is the Natalie studded sweater. I know a few JCA's have it here. Do you love it? And would the studding on the sweater make you look bigger? TIA.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I couldn't believe my eyes: the gold floral long swing skirt (item 44441) which just came out at $400 is now $139 after the 30%. Holy Toledo!
I am not buying it as I am out of money and really trying to get out of my sale-shopping habit, but if anyone has been eyeing it that seems like quite a deal.
(Dina has it and it is gorgeous on her!)

    ReplyDelete
  13. It's not final sale correct? I just bought the Metallic slouch sweater at full price, but it is a tad big at the medium I bought. Now it is marked way down and there is a small online...:) This may fit better.

Anyone have this? Does it run big?

    ReplyDelete
  14. iroar: I placed an order this morning (way too early also :) and JUST got my confirmation email about a minute ago.

  15. Appgal - I ordered the ruched femme tank last month. The suit fit very well and sizing was normal to past years of JC swimwear. My only complaint and the reason for returning was the lacking of lining in the chest area. HTH!

Got the Camille wedges for $70 today!! Love that the wedges are eligible for the 30%. I wear these out during spring and summer as my go-to shoe.

    ReplyDelete
  16. It's definitely worth a trip to a b&m. Most prices are much better there. I got the bootcut jeans in dance off wash for $29.99 (instead of $88) before the 30% off, for example. All colors of the cecilia dress are also on sale for $99 in store.

    ReplyDelete
  17. On another note, does anyone have a review on the About town T-shirt dress? Is the material thin? I sort of want this. :)

I went to the B&M yesterday and for once, the online sale is so much better than my B&M. Who knew! I never order online..but here I go!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Does anyone have sizing info about the lace tessa top? Can you size down? Would really help! Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Woohoo! Just placed my order..let's hope I get my items. :) Got Metallic slouch sweater for almost $70 cheaper than what I paid for it yesterday..wow! I love it so much! Hope this smaller one works.

And hope this About town T-shirt dress works on me...but at least I can return it if not.

Hope you all get what you want. :)

  20. I have yet to place an order with the 30% off promo. I almost ordered the Wyatt buckle heels, definitely a fabulous price with the promo, but after scrutinizing an image of a model wearing those shoes I decided against them. I haven't been getting up super early any more, sleeping all of the way through the night is a great luxury. :)

  21. Has anyone had success with the Belinda cotton gauze dress? It is the loveliest dress and I want to add it to my wardrobe, the trouble being that I've ordered it twice in 2 different sizes and neither fit. I first ordered a P0, which arrived in the same package as the Thessaly beach dress and the Lace blouson dress, both also P0 - I mention this because the Lace dress fit like a dream and the Thessaly I truly believe was made for a D-cup even in P0 (and I'm a B so I wasn't making the cut). The Belinda dress, however, would not even zip halfway up my back and was cut unbelievably short and short-waisted. Tried again with the P0, and while the cut was better for me, it still wouldn't zip up my back. I have a 0 in my cart right now but I'm hesitant to pull the trigger... can anyone let me know what size worked on you in relation to your usual size? Did you go up 1 size, 2 sizes...?

    ReplyDelete
  22. I need more sleep... meant to say my second non-fitting Belinda dress was a 00.

  23. I can't believe I haven't purchased anything! Extra sale + birthday money should equal to a spree but just not feeling it. I would have bit on a couple of popbacks (nickleby shirt in waterfall!) but missed them and nothing has sold out in the other items I'm contemplating. Just not feeling it.

  24. TXgirl14 and anyone else who is interested, I have some IRL photos of the About Town t-shirt dress on my blog here. I didn't do the usual detailed review on the fabric and construction and I'm not at home so can't add that information to the post now but I will say that the fabric is fairly lightweight but has held up to several wash and wears already. I love this dress and it's a great buy on sale.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Has anyone tried the Cypress Dress in Provence Pink? It looks like it could run a little short.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Jruby18 - Natalie studded on Dina G

    TXgirl14 - Not final sale :)

  27. I saw that gorgeous gold skirt was on sale. But where would you wear such an item? It seems awful dressy.

  28. * In-store price notes in this post.
    * New online cuts noted at the top of this post.

    ReplyDelete
  29. AppGal, I'm hoping for that same skirt at my b&m. My PS is suppose to hold it for me in my size but I have no idea if or when I'll make it there. My sister was induced today and it could take up to 24 hours for my new nephew to enter this world. In the meantime, I'm helping my parents with her other kids and dogs. :)

Btw, according to my ps, the mirabel skirt is on sale, too.

  30. Has anyone purchased the Linen Tessa top? It looks like it would have a loose fit, so trying to decide if I should order a 0 or 2. Thanks in advance for any info!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Like many others I too tried for an adjustment and cs were no help. I was told that they could adjust the price but not add the coupon. So annoyed that I had to reorder everything in my cart.

  33. JuneBug682: I tried on the Linen Tessa top in this post and found it to run large. The fit was also a little awkward on me, but it might just be my body shape. HTH!

  34. em in espana: Thanks for the input! Fingers crossed it'll work for me..it's a beautiful suit!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Thanks xoxo! It looks great on you. I got the small..since all my dresses have been smalls lately(the Rowboat, Martitime, etc.)..but hope it is not too tight.

Still no confirmation e-mail...hurry up :)

    ReplyDelete
  36. Thanks AppGal! I think the top looked really nice on you. It does look pretty loose, so I'll probably go with the smaller size. Thanks again for the info!

    ReplyDelete
  37. TXgirl14: Sorry for not clarifying, it is Final Sale *only* for in-store purchases of the sale items with the additional 30% off. Which kind of makes sense because you can see & try on in person. But it is not Final Sale for online purchases. Sorry again for the confusion. :)

  38. This is kind of like the Motherload of update.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Jruby18: The price on the Natalie studded sweater is SO good! It didn't show up in my size this morning when the markdown occurred, otherwise I would have ordered it. I haven't yet seen it IRL, but would have given it a try with the additional 30% off. :)

  40. I'm a little bummed/upset that the 5" chino shorts I just ordered 3 days ago are now $10 cheaper (and only shipped today). Can I get anything like a price adjustment?

    ReplyDelete
  41. I apologize if this has already been noted (I was on vacation) but the seersucker pencil skirt is $79.99 in store and the herringbone schoolboy blazer $29.99. The Fifth Avenue store had a few seersucker pencil skirts as of yesterday at lunch. Also the lace heather shell (Collection item, style # 44115) went on sale this morning for $89.99 ($148 FP). I reccomend it, it is absolutely beautiful. Fits TTS. The Collection store on Madison has 2 size 2 and one size 6 (at least).

    ReplyDelete
  42. Anyone have any comments about the Leather Lace-Up sandals? Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  43. So I made a comment earlier about how I emailed J.Crew and asked for a price adjustment for an order I placed. I was ready to battle but was pleasantly surprised when they responded back that they would be "happy" to do it.

    ReplyDelete
  44. teeny84, I just didn't want to charge that much even though of course I would immediately return one.

I ended up using the chat feature to ask CS for measurements. It says "loose fit" which is true for the waist and hips, but the chest measurement is not. I guess that is a good thing because how awful does a dress look that you can pull out to the side at the armpit area? I ended up going with a 6... I figure if the measurements were way off I can always have it tailored. Or maybe I will be bigger come next December when I plan to wear it. Anyway, I finally got it. Yay!

And the Iris Tortoise sandals that have been at the top of my wishlist since they came out, can't believe they are on clearance already.

    ReplyDelete
  45. The Alyssa top is finally for sale! I tried it on in the store and fits TTS. I snagged the Tessa lace top on sale, excited about that.

I have tried 2 of the Accordian dresses in size 6 and 4 and both are too big, so will be going back. That dress runs huge, I am usually a 6 in JC dresses!

  46. What happened to the $400 skirt from the Spring 2011 preview? It was on the web site for several days at least, and now it's gone.

    ReplyDelete
  47. It's in the sale section for $199, already!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Oh my god, that $400 skirt, the Floral long swing skirt, is already on sale for $199? Plus 30% off?? That just hit the web site like a week ago! I just do not understand what J Crew is doing, and frankly I'm starting to get really irritated by it. If I were a shopper who paid $400 for it, I'd be totally pissed off.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Tamara I know. I freaked when I saw that. I actually ordered it and then came to my senses and cancelled it. I am going away and really cannot afford it no matter the amazing price.
It's beautiful too. Dina reviewed it last week.

    ReplyDelete
  50. No worries Alexis :) That makes perfect sense. I’m not used to buying stuff online with J.Crew, so wanted to make sure. Btw, called CS to verify my order and was told they are having issues with their e-mail system. So if anyone hasn’t received their e-mail confirmations yet, this could be why.

    ReplyDelete
  51. OK, just saw Dina's blog and I can't find the review but I see her wearing the skirt at the top of the blog page. It's beautiful, but why so much shorter than shown on the J Crew model? I was expecting below-the-knee, and considering that I'm only 5'4" and the model is probably 5'10" or more this shouldn't be a problem. Maybe Dina is tall and high waisted, but I suspect the real reason for the discrepancy between the length on the model and the length on Dina is that the production version of the skirt is shorter. So I'll definitely pass. I'm a skilled seamstress, I could make that skirt even better than shown for under $100, including the original piping on the lookbook version which is absent from the production version. There is NO reason why it should have been initially priced at $400. It's acetate (disgusting fiber) and silk with metallic threads, the fact that they state that it's "Italian" doesn't impress me. If I sound crabby, I'm sorry, but this is just nuts! (I'm actually laughing at myself now.)

    ReplyDelete
  52. Definitely worth a trip to the B & Ms if you can, the markdowns are way better.

Getting price adjustments on online orders seems to be hit or miss depending on the CS person you get on the phone.... I just got a "one time courtesy" adjustment for an order I received yesterday by the sweetest CS rep. But I've been told no plenty of times in the past!

    ReplyDelete
  53. I don't understand the irritation about quick markdowns--be happy for the sale shoppers! If you can't wait for something to be marked down and absolutely have to have it right away, you should expect that sometimes other people who can wait for it will get it for cheaper prices.

The townhall dress just came out a week or two ago and the peacock color is already on sale--glad I waited for the markdown!

    ReplyDelete
  54. @Hilary, I placed an order last night for the 5" chino shorts that went from $42.50 FP to $32.50 plus 30% off in less than 12 hours.

I called cust svc and they graciously said they would credit my account for the adjusted price, which amounted to nearly $22. Yay! At that savings I can go out and buy two pairs for the price of one FP!

    ReplyDelete
  55. You all. I am all at once p*ssed off and happy for others. In my humble opinion, that $139.30 is a GREAT price for the skirt. Probably rock bottom.

Having said that, I wrote a VERY long and intensely worded e-mail to my personal shopper who I pre-ordered the skirt from. I was willing to pay the FP (minus a 20% coupon I had at the time) because I *thought* it would either sell out (limited number or popularity or whatever) OR it would stay FP for at least a few months (which most Collection pieces do, btw).

To see it go down nearly $180 from what I paid TWO AND A HALF WEEKS AGO (I saved up for it too) means that I have the distinct privilege of saying that the one time I wore it basically cost me an extra $180. YAY! (Sarcastic yay, I am sure you all know that!)

If J. Crew/personal shopper doesn't credit my CC with the $180, I think I will return the skirt (which I can, it is under the 90 day return date) and cancel all future pre-orders (which based on what I am saving up for this fall will be significant).

I am confident she will take care of me, but you never know with J. Crew. Grr.

So, review info...I bought a size 8, which is a tad large through the waist, but I wanted to have this skirt for life (we'll see, though) and wanted to ensure it would fit well past my middle-age, etc. The 6 would have fit, but a bit more snugly through the waist. It runs tts.

You can see the pics of me wearing it here: http://mysuperfluities.blogspot.com/2011/06/floral-long-swing-skirt-as-photographed.html.

I will know what happens with the credit to my cc on Tuesday. You better believe I will let everyone know what happens...

    ReplyDelete
  56. I'm with you, Cass. If you are going to buy something full price, then you should be happy with the item, AT THAT PRICE. It is really stupid of J.Crew to mark things down so quickly, though. I have never been a full price shopper but now I am waiting for multiple markdowns before buying anything. Why not? The items I want are almost always still available, or pop back eventually. It honestly just seems like it would be wasteful to buy full price from J.Crew with the current way they do the markdowns.

OT, but do we have any info on those yellow pumps the model is wearing in the pic for the Jardin skirt? They look like the perfect patent pumps from 2008, which I found extremely uncomfortable even though they were SO cute. It was like the toe was too almond shaped rather than truly pointy and they didn't leave enough room for the actual... foot. I hope these are improved.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Tamara.Chicago:

I am high-waisted and tall. LOL. I also belted it, which made it ride higher, which I preferred. :) The fabric is insanely lovely in real life, and I love fabric! I know it isn't all silk, but the combo of fibers makes it a really unique look/feel.

But, yes, if the fabric combo seems off to you, that's cool! I get it--I won't go near rayon. :)

    Cass:

I agree, normally. That said, this was a VERY quick reduction and BY A LOT OF MONEY. If they had reduced it by 25%, I would have no complaints. But HALF? And then an additional 30%? I feel like a HUGE chump.

I am still really happy for those who got it for that great sales price. I just wish that I had waited, I wish I could have been smarter about it. I have never had this happen before, so I am a bit burned.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Dina, that SUCKS. At least you can till return it. I totally would and just repurchase. I completely understand your reasons for pre ordering it... it does seem like something that would be in limited quantities/not get marked down!

You are so right that collection pieces stay FP for a while. They RARELY get marked down that fast! Most of them languish at full price for months!

    ReplyDelete
  59. Dina thanks for keeping us informed on this! I knew from your review that you had a % off but still, you make a good point that the one time you have worn it so far it cost you basically $180 considering the current sale price.
It could easily be a wardrobe heirloom, perfect with a cashmere t shirt and some ballet flats for a family celebration, I am sorely tempted to buy it, yes it is torturing me, and if I wasn't going on holiday in like two days I would bite.
Anyway, I will look forward to reading about how your situation resolves. It will affect my decisions around pre-ordering pieces as well.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Dina, it would be OUTRAGEOUS if they didn't offer you both the credit and a huge apology.

It's just not smart business to do that to intelligent customers who are aware of the markdown cycles, especially customers shopping at the Collection price points. Shame on them.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Ladies, thank you for the nice words. I was feeling pretty bad about the situation, but armed with your support, I feel ready to be assertive, if need be. :)

Assertiveness is one thing I have always had to work on, I have always been the rule follower, which is why I am especially irritated that the markdown came exactly two weeks and a couple of days after it was shipped to me--grr! I would normally not be the type to even try for the price adjustment, but this is a really unfortunate set of circumstances.

You all are the best, thanks again!!!

    ReplyDelete
  62. Dina, the easiest thing to do might be to reorder it and then return the new one using the old receipt. I've heard that suggested here before, and it seems justified under the circumstances. It looks beautiful on you, and I would be tempted, too, except I don't think it would work on me fit and style wise. While I am itching to preorder some fall items, I have learned to resist, since yes, things do get marked down, and also, I've found that they can be not exactly what I was expecting. OT, but I found it funny when Shoppingwithm, I think, said that CS told her the red dress was getting a lot of attention. When I called last week, they were quoting $188, and she said she was quoted $198 early this week . . . hmmmm

    ReplyDelete
  63. My Monday order just arrived so here is a quick review of Medina flats: The toe strap sits high up so it made the side bone (where you get a bunion)stick out just beneath it, and it makes you look like you have a bunion-not pretty. The foot bed also is very narrow so if you have medium width or wide feet, it will literally hang out the inside of the shoe. :< Didn't work for me.

    ReplyDelete
  64. 1) I have the accordion dress, and yes, it runs HUGE. I have pictures in this post:

    http://prepstyle.blogspot.com/2011/06/outfit-of-day-jcrew-suiting.html

    2) I ordered the Floral Long Swing Skirt. It was the one item I drooled over in the lookbook, and I could not pass it up at this price.

    3) I also have the Marled pocket cardigan, and i love it. I paid full-price, and would again..so at less than $20, get it! It is dressy enough to wear over a work dress, especially with the brown buttons.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Dina, I've been following the story of your skirt. You had every right to expect that it would remain full price for a long long time. Look at the collection blazers - like portraits of old family friends by now! Please follow through with this and let us know the outcome.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I see Jane Aldridge has some pictures of herself wearing the Boy shirt in sailor stripe on her Sea of Shoes blog. Notice her suspender pants too, looking very much like the Frontier pant except with leather suspenders. I really hate to comment on other women's bodies but she's looking even skinnier than usual. I hope it's just the result of being very busy and not something that she's trying hard to achieve, if you know what I mean.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Definitely return and re-order! It's cruel to the customers to have these kinds of price shifts without an appropriate price adjustment policy. Mickey Drexler had made a comment about too many customers waiting for markdowns. Is it really any mystery why we do it? I did pay full price recently, but for a Jenna's cardigan at $70, black, and not as likely to hit the sale section as other colors. I'm considering doing the same for the camel color. But nothing else.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Dina, i soooo thought of you this morning and hope you get the adjustment. I did order it based on your pics and review. Qill let you know how it works.
Amy, that is so annoying. I bet they increased the price.
i was very happily surprises at some of the new markdowns, plus 30%, with the ability to return. For me, it's a great chance to try some shoes.

  71. tamara.chicago,

Thanks for bringing that skirt to my attention. Would never have even noticed it before! I did call and order it. I sized up as I don't want it to sit at the waist and the waist measurement was smaller than the soiree skirt I just ordered last month and love. The size 10 in it matched the floral in a 12.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Has anyone seen the tweed/khaki motorcycle jacket at their b&m? Instead of the jacket I got sent a pair of pants. I have been stalking this jacket for months so totally annoyed! Anyway, would appreciate any leads for a size 0 or 2. Thanks in advance!

  73. You enablers...

the floral swing skirt waist is 27.5" on the 4 and 28" on the 6. The skirt length is 23.5" on the 4 and 24" on the 6. Agree w/(orginal) Genny to size up one.

  74. Pencil skirts were $59.99 in store, minus 30% off yesterday. They are still FP online.

  75. GigiofCA,

So you bought one too? If only I would not have check the blog tonight. Ha ha.

The size 10 waist is 30.5 and the 12 is 32 if anyone wants to know.

  76. Nicole - The stadium cloth peacoat will likely be too hot for October in New York. It's kind of hard to predict the weather for autumn, but I remember it was still warm for Halloween last year. However, I didn't put away my winter clothes until May this year... It's really day-by-day! If it's a good deal, get it-- you'll have it if the weather calls for it.

  77. 24" isn't very long to me. :) It might just make it to the bottom of my knee, but I'm doing true midis now, 30" to 34", mostly a-lines like this skirt but some are drop waist or dirndls. So looks like I will indeed pass on the floral swing skirt because it's like a mini to me. :) For those of you who like the length, I'm sure it will be great. I love the styling of it in the spring preview picture, complete with the anklesocks and Strappiness snakeskin heels. I want those sandals but haven't seen them in my size since the price dropped down to a level I'm willing to pay.

  78. Haven't placed an order in months, and really made up for it with this 30%. Got the Perfect Shirt in Teaberry from the 5th Ave store in NYC (they still have two size 10s as of this afternoon), $29.99 before sale. Online, ordered the summer hours dress in muslin and beechwood; the I-heart-chambray shirt, the Sophie silk blouses in slate and weathered wood (Madewell had some gorgeous l/s silk shirts, wear them to death, hoping for luck w/J. Crew), the rope cloud ikat dress, a couple of swimsuits, souvenir dress in chili pepper, perfect shirt in neon blue gingham. Mix of sale & new items that I'm pretty excited about.

  79. I am jazzed! I got the Maritime V-neck dress, French terry zip-front hoodie, Soiree skirt in waterlily floral and a sundrenched sweatshirt. I just bought the linen island cardigan last week! Urg!

  80. (original) Genny - I love Dina G's pics and have liked everything I've purchased that's been inspired by her blog. However, I was able to refrain as I am 7 months preg & see nowhere in the horizon to wear the skirt. Then when I saw that spring photo Tamara posted, I was pushed over the edge. So I blame her ;)

  81. Congratulations Gigi and others for acting on that floral skirt when you did! Now the 30% promo is gone. You all got a great deal! Dina, I hope everything works out for you, you absolutely deserve an adjustment.

Gigi, I laughed at your comment. You don't know how many times I've visited your blog, seen pictures of items, and then ordered them. :) J Crew should pay you a commission (in clothes or promos, of course).

  82. tamara.chicago,

I used to wear skirts the length you mentioned for many years and still have many in basement storage. I thhnk we all go through phases of what skirt lengths we wear and what part of the country we live in as well:)I started buying shorter skirts when I lived overseas and have continued to do so in the warmer climate I live in now.

Thanks for posting the picturs of the 2 skirts. Hope you have a good one:)

  83. Gigi,

I don't know when I will wear mine either but for the price I had to try it and I do know of one future event (far into the future) but I will wear it! :) Glad you got one too.

  84. I decided to order the skirt too, b/c it is returnable and I wanted to see what I could put together w/it. But I ordered the smaller of my 2 sizes, so I don't have high hopes that it will fit right. Wish I would have seen the sizing comments before I ordered! Blah.

  85. JRuby18, can you do an exchange if the one you ordered doesn't fit right? I might be wrong but I think for an exchange you get the same price as your original order. I did it one time, I think it was FFM who told me I could just call and initiate the exchange right away.

  86. Yes, you can exchange the skirt for a different size if needed and get the sale price.

  87. Yesterday, I finally got my coveted light shale featherweight cashmere cardigan. But it was the short-sleeved one rather than the long one.

I love the color so much that I decided to just suck it up and get one. Hopefully, they have it in next spring's color group.

  88. I'm collecting Jenna's cardigans now like I was collecting shoes before. :) I just ordered the heather guava (sale price, wasn't available in my size during the 30%-off promo) and marled carmel (full price). I hope the heathered guava isn't too popsicle-y, it looks good on all of my monitors, even when I tilt them so that the color is saturated to the max. I'd still like to get a blossom colored Jenna's cardigan, I have that color in the Cielo and like it a lot.

  90. My skirt is out for delivery and should be in my hot little hands TOMORROW:) Cannot wait. Have an anniversary and birthday coming up. Plan to wear it out to dinner both nights:)

  91. Did it arrive yet Genny?? I have to live vicariously through all of you who bought this skirt. :) It was the one thing I wanted to get from the Spring preview and I'm bummed that it's not as long as I thought it would be, but it is a beautiful skirt and I'm very happy for the rest of you. :)

  92. tamara.chicago,

Yes, it arrived. The waist fits great so glad I sized up. It is a very poofy skirt. Very gathered at the waist. A 10 would probably fit better overall but not at the waist. I put a deep plum cashmere sweater with it and it looks gorgeous for fall/winter. I am 5'10" and it comes just above my knee ever so slightly. Perfect!

  93. (original) Genny - I recvd mine, too. Shipping was quick. I love the fabric. Boo, for no pockets, but that would've made the skirt even more voluminous. I ordered a 6, instead of my usual 4. I usually wear bottoms lower on the hip, but I can't tell if it's possible to do that w/this skirt. I can't decide. And I'll be outside of the return policy by the time I should be able to get it on. Any thoughts...?

  94. gigiofca,

I was hoping to wear it below my waist as well and there is no pushing this baby down lower. So it is very full!

I do think sizing down to my normal 10 would help with the poof factor but then the waist might be too tight for me.

I was considering ordering the 10 to compare but really thinking not worth it b/c then I could not tuck in a shirt or belt it if I wanted a different look.

  95. gigiofca,

OK. I take that back. Just went and decided to retry on the skirt and YES I got it to go low on my hips and it looks much better!

So thanks for forcing me out of my box:)

    ReplyDelete
  96. gigiofca,

How did your skirt arrive? Mine was in a brown paper mailer (no box or hanger) and a bit wrinkled with one teeny tiny scrap of think tissue between the folds LOL! I was surprised that a skirt at this price point would come like that! I had to get out my iron.

  97. ooops! THIN not think but "think: is what the packers at JCrew need to do.
