"Thanks!" to many of you, including Tamara (in this post), who let us know about the morning update to JCrew.com.
J.Crew had a very nice (& large) update to their Summer Sale online (click here). Some new items made it into the Sale section and some additional markdowns too! Lots of items up for grabs in lots of sizes (1,300+ items for Women, as well as 500+ items for Men). Not sure how long that will last. I already grabbed two items for myself! ;)
"Thanks!" to ajr (in this post), xoxo (in this post) & GigiOfCa (in this post), who let us know the offer for free shipping on orders of $150+ with code SUNSHINE is extended until Sunday, June 12, 2011. As xoxo mentioned, it probably means we won't see another promotion (like an additional percent off sale) until after this current promo expires.
Did you check out the Summer Sale section today? Were you able to snag any amazing deals? If so, please share! :)
I did notice the huge update. I was hoping for a percentage off today as well.
ReplyDeleteI spent 20 minutes looking but didn't bite on anything.
I wanted to buy the marled cotton shorts in XS in cloud (light grey) but they sold out over night. If anyone sees these, can they let me know? Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI was so hoping for a percentage off today. I'm going to try out a couple item that were discounted, like the Elsa jacket (down to $148) and the Loretta heels (down to $99), both in the modern red. I haven't see the jacket on anyone and it's not in my stores -- any reviews?
ReplyDeleteNice that the site was updated and new items added. As long as it continues to be regular/returnable sale I am a happy camper.
ReplyDeleteNice to see some further markdowns and a large update, but I was really hoping for an extra % off, too.
ReplyDeleteexactly what DaniBP said - did the same thing!
ReplyDeleteNothing for me. OT - I noticed that the Indira Ikat dress is totally sold out in the violet and only a few sizes left in the cinnamon spice.
ReplyDeleteShopwithm, warning on the Lorettas. I tried them and the straps cut into my feet so bad and were quite uncomfortable. Sadly, I returned them. I hope they work out better for you!
ReplyDeleteOh, and shopwithm, I think I did a review on the Elsa jacket a week or two ago. It's really cute!!! I did end up returning mine, b/c I didn't want to pay FP, but maybe now I'll pick it up. I'd say it runs TTS to maybe a smidge big? I've been losing weight, so it's hard for me to guage lately. But it is super cute. Not lined, but lightweight and comfortable.
ReplyDeleteIt was a nice update! Didn't bite, I have placed so many orders with the recent %s off that I think I'll hold off this time. Maybe the next % off, and/or some new arrivals!
ReplyDeleteAny reviews yet on the new Marlow Hobo?
ReplyDeleteI got the eyelet shorts.. in a 4 when I probably really could use a 6. Well, here's to hoping they will fit. Do any JCAs have these who could provide a mini review??
ReplyDeleteI also got another merino keyhole tunic or whatever it's called in black. I have the charcoal and wear it constantly. Passed on the sage because it would most certainly be see through!

ReplyDeletei'm with everyone else--was hoping for % off, but like genny mentioned, glad the dreaded final sale hasn't begun!
ReplyDeleteNothing I needed either...without an extra % off.
ReplyDeleteOT - but Anthropologie in Atlanta had extra 25% off sale. And you can always return at anthro!
ReplyDeleteA few nice markdowns but like the rest of the girls, I'm waiting for an extra % code first. ;)
ReplyDeleteI have to say, J.Crew seems little blah right now with the sales.
I'm stalking the maritime dress, and can't figure out why it hasn't gone on sale. It's clearly not so very popular and has mixed reviews, and it's also a little too warm to be seasonal anymore. (Although it's just my style, even if i'd have to save it for next spring)
ReplyDeletegrrr.
These are the kinds of sales I steadfastly hold back on. I have enough spring/summer clothes by now, and my thoughts are drifting towards fall. Besides, the clothes are basically picked over. I tell myself that if I didn't want or need it at full price I don't need it at 30% off, especially this late in the buying season.
ReplyDeleteI've been stalking the Maritime for months too! I can't believe it went up from $78 to $88. I think it's full price because they released the newer black color. Should've bought it with the 20% total purchase card awhile back...
ReplyDeleteSummer is just getting started. My thoughts are very far away from Fall:) LOL. The sales will only get better and better. Just started on my summer/spring sales buying. But I got the couple of J.Crew items I already wanted a month ago and just last week. Kind of a lack luster summer roll out this year for me but still happy to add a couple of stand out pieces.
ReplyDeleteI have cut back on my J.Crew shopping about 90% from the past 5 years and last year it was about 75%. Just don't see the stand out pieces for me anymore.
I ended up buying the Jenny dress in the beautiful periwinkle color just because I've been holding out for that color and it popped back this morning. I also got the Ink Dot pencil skirt as a ride-along just to try on--will most likely take back. AND I got the correct size of a Factory belt that I am in LOVE with. Bought it last weekend in the wrong size just because I loved it so much, so I was happy to find it in the right size.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I posted some pics and reviews of the Rumi dress, Heathered Playa skirt, etc HERE.
ReplyDeleteI puts some new reviews on my blog that includes some sale items:
ReplyDeletesuckered gingham perfect shirt, Embroidered bib tunic, Peasant blouse, Sideline sweater, Petal skirt in floral
I also reviewed a the Lace Front Top which is a new arrival.

Well, I found quite a few goodies that I've had my eye on for awhile, but JC has me trained too well that I won't order anything with an extra % off. Nothing in there that I have to have that I don't think will last till then. I'm just hoping final sale doesn't kick back in at the same time as the next % off. Actually, I bet that's exactly what they'll do. If so, that's okay with me, they'll just lose my business! Anthro has quite a few cute things this summer too, and as mentioned before, a MUCH friendlier return policy! :)
ReplyDeleteHmm, has anyone tried on the Indira Ikat Dress? That was about the only thing this rollout that piqued my interest and I'm sad they didn't even produce enough of one of their only interesting pieces. I'm hoping they'll go back and produce some more and we'll see a new backorder date on them. Otherwise they could lose a lot of money not selling these dresses!
ReplyDeleteBut it might not work out on me, who knows; the cut is a bit conservative. It's summer and I feel like I should be making the most of my youth by wearing something in a more revealing cut, LOL. Though if the Indira itself came with a slightly lower neckline or something I'd totally snatch it up as I love the print.
Has anyone ever tried the two-button jacket in wool gabardine? I'm looking for a versatile navy blazer to wear with jeans/skirts/dresses (pretty much everything) and I'm wondering if this might be it. Any comments on the fit or fabric would be hugely appreciated. Also, it would be good to know if the material is more "dressed up", or if it could be worn casually as well. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteCaitlin, I think that out of all the suiting fabrics, the wool gab is probably the easiest to dress down. Personally I never wear suit jackets casually because they look like, well, suit jackets. But the wool gab has a texture to it and is pretty matte. I think it'd work.
ReplyDeleteI have the pants, but no jacket in this fabric. Most of my suiting is super 120s because it looks dressier I think.
I ordered quite a few items that I have had my eye on but am not sure of size. I want to wait for the extra % off that we know is coming, but I am afraid it may come with final sale terms. These days JCrew's fit is so off on *everything* that I never really know what size to order; and even in the correct size whether the cut or drape has a funky fit that is a dealbreaker. So, I have learned to order while items are still returnable to determine fit and if it is just as desirable in person - then re-buy when and if the item returns with an extra %. I have no problem returning (and no guilt) - JCrew's draconian final sale terms force us to be more creative customers when it comes to black belt sale shopping.
ReplyDeleteAmen to that McShoppy! ITA.
ReplyDeleteThanks J.CrewJD! I think I might try the Navy Schoolboy Blazer as well...it might be more versatile, and ITA with you about suit jackets always looking like suit jackets :).
ReplyDeleteCaitling, that might be a better option. Or, to make it not look like a suit jacket, just change the buttons. That is really the only diff between the suiting jackets and some of the finer wool blazers, isn't it? That one change would make it look much more casual/cute for more versatile wear!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe I didn't order anything for one whole week! Jcrew made so many mistakes with my orders in the past that I'm very reluctant to buy wo free shipping.... There were a couple of instances that I paid for shipping and that was very costly. I actually prefer free ship w no minim over %off. That was I can just buy what I want/need wo having to buy at least $100-150
ReplyDeleteI really like the Windowpane Trenchlet. Suprisingly, it was not that cropped on me and I am tall. I think it might run a little big so I reordered it one size smaller to compare. It is very well made and worth the sale price IMO.
ReplyDeleteSome sizes that were sold out earlier today have popped back this evening, e.g., chambray schoolboy and canvas schoolboy.
ReplyDeleteFree shipping on all Factory online orders?? Did we know this?
ReplyDeletelolita.lee.love, I can’t believe the price went up too on the Maritime dress! Not cool. Also, noticed the price went up on the sun-drenched sweatshirts to $65. Glad I got them before that price increase because I love them, but not cool going up on the price of things…especially after they have been out so long. :(
ReplyDeleteMaybe the Martitime dress will start going down soon. My B&M has had a lot that have just sat there. If they try to sell me this dress one more time, I'll scream…ha. Next time I’m just walking in with the dress on (I have it and love it…just too hot to wear it now in TX).
TXgirl14 - That would be hilarious! It's too hot to wear in California too. I have a feeling I'll have to nab it on discount when it'll inevitably be 100+ degrees. *__*
ReplyDeleteThe wild plum Jenna popped back in my size this morning so I bought it along with a black Jenna which I'm paying (gasp) full price for! I'm mad about lightweight merino knits and I hope J Crew continues to produce them. I do prefer the Marzipan to the Jenna though, I wish they'd bring the Marzipan back.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was strange that the black merino Cielo I bought a few days ago is now showing shipped. This was my third attempt to buy it, all three times I received the dreaded "We're sorry" email and yet now it's on its way? I'm wondering what will actually be in the package. :)
The Cielos have made decent work cardigans for me. I remove the ruffles. I found out if I clip the ruffle very close to the seam I can pull out all remnants of it. Not recommended unless you have superfine embroidery scissors like these Gingher G-4's, my absolute favorite scissors for alterations.

ReplyDeleteOperaRach, I saw in an older post that you had ordered the petal skirt. How did you like it? Would you mind posting your overall thoughts on fit? I really like it but wonder whether it would be flattering to us pear-shaped JCAs. Thx!
ReplyDeletesub!
ReplyDelete@ Rayna J
ReplyDeleteAs I recall, I ordered my usual bottom size of the petal skirt and the waist was a bit snug. That being said, I think this style really requires being worn at the waist - doesn't looks as nice slouched down. Anyway - the silk is lightweight kind of like the silk sophie shirt and I love that weathered wood color. good length (I'm 5'4'' and I think it hit me right above the knee). I did feel like the pleats lay nicely and didn't add bulk to the hips. Ultimately I returned it because it was too fancy for my daily life and not special enough for a big night out. It's pretty but the silk felt very delicate/a little flimsy. Please let me know if there are any other details I can give.
Substantial update, lots of bags added to the sale section. Tall Brittens and Weatherbys are back too in a few sizes. I wanted the Weatherbys but didn't find out about them soon enough, what a cute boot!
ReplyDeleteHas anyone tried the featherknit tank item #43805? I think it is adorable and I believe one of the SA's in my store was wearing it but I didn't get to get a close look. Wondering if it is totally see thru and if I should size down. Any help greatly appreciated!
ReplyDeleteOperaRach, thank you for the review of the petal skirt. It was so helpful that you said the pleats lay flat and don't add bulk. That is the LAST thing I need on my bottom half especially :) Too bad you had to return it, but smart to weed out things that don't suit your lifestyle on a day to day basis.
ReplyDeleteThat being said, I ordered it yesterday in the floral print in my regular bottom size and can't wait to try it on.
Thank you again!
OK promo predictors, the current SUNSHINE promo ends tonight at 11:59pm EDT. They had a couple of good updates the past week but I'm personally feeling an even bigger one coming up, maybe with a 30% off?? It might just be wishful thinking.
