Some More Sneak Peeks at New Arrivals {thanks Net-A-Porter!}

A big "thanks!" to Fabulous Florida Mommy (in this post), who let us know the following news: There are a few new J.Crew arrivals spotted over at Net-A-Porter (click here to view & shop online). Fabulous Florida Mommy raises a good point that if you are in the United States, change the country location to United Kingdom (found on the upper left portion of the page).

Some items include the Polly Leather Jacket (Product Code 172778; $595) and the Fatcat Leopard-Print calf Hair Jacket (Product Code 172783; $2,500). I especially like the latter's description: "J.Crew's chic calf hair jacket gives glamorous leopard-print an elegant new attitude. Offset this statement style with a simple tee and skinny jeans for a fierce cocktail look." The use of "fierce" reminds me of this SNL skit: New Bravo Show.

But to things I love... the Ethel Cotton-Twill Trench Coat (Product code: 172779; £350) is up for sale. Even more exciting is that there is a "detachable tulle underskirt". I love that this coat has options on how to wear it!!! I did not think I could love this trench any more and now this. :)

Did you spot any upcoming new arrivals over at Net-A-Porter? If so, please share! :)

  1. Alexis: The UK site is where most of the new arrivals are. The link is here. There is a new color in the Schoolboy blazer, plus two colors of the Wool Herringbone Hacket jacket, as well as the Trench coat from the fall preview. :)

  2. Hahahaha! Does anyone really say "fierce" anymore? Where is WellFedFred today, would love to see what she thinks of the copy(writer).

  3. Really wishing to find a pair of the sandals pictured in the blogger picture.

They are from the Jcrew Factory two years ago.

Color pictured in a size 7.

    Thanks.

  4. FFM: Great point about changing the country location! I updated the post with that.

XOXO: LOL! I know! Fierce was so a few years ago. ;)

Jinks: You should post your search over at the dedicated post "The Great (Weekly) Exchange {looking to find}". :)

  5. OOHHH...I am excited about the ribbed cashmere sweater. I can't wait to see what other colors they come out with. Really wish it wasn't $250 :(

  6. Alexis,

Would it be alright if I commented with my search in a few other posts other than the "looking for" for awhile? I would really love to find these sandals and would really appriciate the venue. More than likely I will lose intrest in doing so quickly.

    Thanks.

  7. Jinks: I completely understand you search process. However, please do not post the same comment in multiple places. Especially since there is a dedicated post for just that purpose ("The Great (Weekly) Exchange {looking to find}"). Thank you for understanding. :)

  8. Detachable tulle underskirt!!!!!!!!

I feel the same way you do about that trench, Alexis.

Also, I really liked the ocelot print calf hair jacket from a few years ago better than this new one. It looks kind of dated. Meh.

  9. Love the camel schoolboy blazer!

  10. Looking at the UK Netaporter site, it's as if Frank got involved in a few pieces. And that's a very good thing because J. Crew men's has had a much nicer look than the women's for a long while now. I saw a men's sweater in the store for $118. that would not even be available in a women's cut and if it was, would be $300 easily.

I even like the beaded sweater that's sold out although I wouldn't buy it due the JC quality issues. One missing bead and the sweater is ruined and with JC, a bead would be missing before you made it to the parking lot.

  11. Hm, for some reason, I'm not seeing the Hacking jacket or the trench. :-( I cannot believe that leopard jacket is $2500!! Cuh-razy!!

  12. Jruby18: Are you on the United Kingdom Net-a-porter site?

    ReplyDelete
  13. The Hacking Jackets are here. I'm pretty sure you have to be signed in to the UK site in order to see Trench Coat.

  14. Oh gosh, I just found the "embellished cotton sateen cropped pants", and they are even uglier than I could have imagined. And 395 pounds. SERIOUSLY!?!?!? Look at the back view on those. So unflattering. And so similar to pants I had 10 years ago from American Eagle that cost $30 and were cool when I was in high school!!! The embellishments just look cheap. Oh, J.Crew. Yet another fail.

  15. Can anyone speak to price conversions? That is, if the trench is going for £350 on net a porter, what's it likely to go for on j crew's site? Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  16. kikki cee: It would be about $560 right now.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Thanks, FFM. An investment, that's for sure.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Duh! Forgot to switch to UK. Thx FFM!! Now I see them. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  19. I'm wondering about the conversions. I understand the $ to £ conversion. However, the items are the same amount regardless of the symbol in front. For example, on the UK site, the "Polly Leather Jacket" is £595. On the US site, it's $595. So I'm hoping the trench is really 350 US$.

  20. Does anyone know if the neon pink striped silk dress has come and gone from stores/online here? I know it was in a magazine (Lucky maybe?). TIA for any info

    ReplyDelete
  21. Sydneygirl: It is online as the Stripe Blouson Dress. I didn't look for it in the store, so maybe someone else can answer whether or not it's in stores now. :)

  22. LauraK: That's a really good observation. I asked the online CS chat rep and she said the Trench will debut in August and will be priced at $398, so the prices on both sites are indeed similar. Not sure why, but it does seem to be that way.

  23. Oh, man, fall feels so far away, but it's still so fun to look at these new fall items! Can I really already be dreaming of wool jackets and boots?!

I love the charcoal hacking jacket - I don't yet have this simple staple piece, so I will be all over that one, for sure. And I agree with LauraK - it looks like the prices could just be dollars - most items that JC has out now are the same price or near what they're listing in pounds. Kind of a rip off for the Brits. Crossing my fingers that's the case anyway, because I couldn't do over $400 for the hacking jacket. $200 I could do. :)

"Fierce" just makes me think of Christian Siriano from Project Runway. Needless to say, a little bit out of date. :)

    ReplyDelete
  24. FFM: Thanks for calling. $398 is a lot better than $560 (though still well out of my price range). Maybe with a 20% off coupon or something...if I could ever get a catalogue.

    ReplyDelete
  25. FFM - duh - thanks! :)

I didn't look for it again before posting my comment..Sorry - I've been out of circulation most of this month (I have a bag by my front door whenever I make it to the store for returns/exchanges).

I have had the lace blouson dress in my cart for a week now this looks basically the same style as far as I can tell. I should try the lace one first....Maybe I'll wait for a markdown and hopefully a promo.

Thanks for the net-a-porter link :)

    ReplyDelete
  26. And I mean a markdown for the pink stripe. I know the lace blouson is on sale. I just wasn't in buying mode during the recent 30%, but now I saw how much DaniBP loves her Lace blouson dresses I am sort of kicking myself... :)

    ReplyDelete
  27. If the trench is going to be similarly priced to the one on the UK site, then all the other items should be too...at least you would think/hope so. After all $350 or $400 seems a tad obsessive for the Hacking jacket or a schoolboy blazer.

    ReplyDelete
  28. LauraK: You're welcome, and I agree that $398 is much better than $560. J.Crew usually runs an Outerwear promo with 20% off at some point, so even if you don't get a catalogue or coupon, maybe you can get it then. :)

    ReplyDelete
  29. Sydneygirl: You're welcome! Maybe your store has the Lace Blouson dress? Some B&M's are still running the 30% off promo, so there's a chance you could still get one at the extra sale price. :)

    ReplyDelete
  30. FFM - yes, that's what I thought too, but at the same time, it's not like we haven't seen exorbitant prices for such items before. ;)

I just have to keep reminding myself to save up for fall. Like many, that is really my favorite season anyway, and this year is looking pretty good to me so far! Thanks again for the link!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Sydneygirl - The lace blouson dress is online only, according to the site. I haven't seen the pink striped one in-store.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Gigi: It looks as if it's only the petite sizes of the Lace Blouson Dress that are online only.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I'm sure I'm pretty late to this game, but does anyone have a sizing review on the Lace blouson dress (TTS? Runs small/large)? I went to my local JCrew store but they didn't have any in stock so now I'm ready to pull the trigger and order it online, but want to be sure I get the right size. Thanks for the help!

    ReplyDelete
  34. JuneBug682: AudreyBella reviewed the Lace Blouson dress here.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Syndneygirl, if you go the Net-a-Porter site and look at the stripe blouson and also the lace blouson and click on "item measurements" to the right of the actual sizes available you get a screen that shows the measurements in centimeters, just click that to change to inches and you can see the measurements for both of these dresses. If I recall correctly the lace one was running slightly smaller than the silk stripe bloson dress. Also, they did have a size 6 and 8 in the pink stripe at the Vegas store. They were returns. The pink is truly NEON pink. I preferred it to the black but the dress did not fit me right. Hope this helps!

  37. I like the trench but I wonder how the tulle underskirt will look when seated in the car. Funny thing, I previously saw tulle underskirt on girl coats from Jottum and wished they will make them for adults...

Also, OT but I added (lengthy) reviews of Souvenir dress and white short sleeved shirt among other items on the review thread, I know some of you asked about it.

  38. Is that Ethel trench the same as the trench from the Fall 2011 preview? It sure looks like it, except the color in the Fall preview is a little darker.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Argh, I read through ALL of the posts and somehow missed FFM's first post in the thread where she ID'd that trench until after I submitted my post. I don't need new glasses, I need a new brain. :) Oh well, I think it is the same trench. The tulle would make it a bit awkward to sit in but not as bad as hoops. :) You'll just look a bit fluffy.
