Sought & Found: Did you visit J.Crew this {past} Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopped by a J.Crew store this past weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SPRING sale, or to see some new SUMMER arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store was/ is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

  1. I walked by the store with my mom on Sat. She asked how I felt after we passed it and I declined going in. *lol* I was fine. Today I found parking right across the street & didn't feel inspired to go in. Eh.

  2. Bought the Crewcuts Ikat Madras shirt for myself and I recommend it! The madras print is lovely and it is also a short sleeved shirt, so it's perfect for this weather. I also went ahead and ordered the Factory Surf Tweed Charter Skirt and I'm excited about trying that piece out since I never found the retail version in my size.

  3. @Gigi: I share your sentiment as well. I dragged myself to B&M last week to make a return (darn 30-day return policy). Usually I get excited, but when I got there it was totally uninspiring. I tried only a handful of stuff and only bought couple things.

My size 2 perfect shirt in linen arrived yesterday. I like the fit except it's just really LONG! It covers my entire rear and just looks awkward. It also comes almost to my thigh in the front. I wish it was 1-2" shorter. The arm length fits fine though... I'm 5'5" and borderline petite size but now the color I want is soldout. I've usually had poor experience with petite sizing in the past I didn't even consider it.
    Any suggestions ladies?

  4. Re-posting what I shared on the *Seek and Find* post earlier this weekend:

I was able to visit last evening to make my returns and try on the Mirabel Dress. The size 00 was the best fit for me, but they only had it in faded black, which isn't a great color on me. I actually preferred the version of the dress with the straps in the muslin poppy color but didn't end up getting it. I'll watch for it to go on sale and try to pick it up then.

The sale section was packed full of the usual suspects...tees, tunics, and all the rest of the pieces that continue to linger on the website. The Silk Henley Top in *Dusty Sand* was marked down to $19.99 in the store (still $29.99) online, but the other colors were $39.99 (only $29.99 online). The store was packed with merchandise but nothing stood out as something I just *have to have* right now. The only thing I purchased was a perfect-fit crewneck tee in *athletic orange* for $9.99 as an option to wear with my Goldfield skirt from Anthropologie.

One more thing...they had the Classic Leather Ballet Flats in Poppy in the store and they are so pretty IRL...love! I'm not sure I want to pay full-price for them, but will definitely try to grab them on sale.

  5. Did not go - trying to do a self-imposed shopping ban for a while since we had a lot of unexpected expenses lately.

  6. I buckled this weekend - the straw fedora I wanted to try out popped back in the sale section, so I ordered it along with the linen presentation skirt. The summer linen blazer in navy also popped back, and I ordered that as well - hope it looks good!

  7. Forced myself to change out of warm, comfy sweats on a drizzly, chilly Sunday afternoon to make returns. I had a pair of ballet flats that really didn't fit properly and needed to be returned that day plus some online returns. I *loathe* the 30-day return policy but I'm danged if I am going to eat items that just aren't going to work OR have been marked down so drastically it's an absolute sin. Case in point: While in the store, I noticed the Jane dress in the sale section. I bought the Jane dress 4 weeks ago at full price - $178 (I NEVER should have broken my "never buy full-price rule because these days if you sneeze JCrew marks the item down). 4 days later marked to $99 (and I got a price adjustment), exactly 30 days later it's marked at $59 - a full $118 off. I hadn't worn the dress yet - still in my closet with the tags - and I didn't have it with me - but for $118 I went home, got the dress, and returned it. Repurchased at $59 because the drape is so flattering.

The take-away from this experience is when a price adjustment is done, have the item returned and re-purchased. It buys you a few extra days on the return policy :)

AND there was absolutely nothing that interested me in the store - I wasn't even tempted to browse. Sale section full of the same old sad, tired selection. I made my returns and left - for Talbots.

  8. I swung through really quickly and ended up finding the toffee dorrie for $29.99 (it's $59.50 on the website).

  9. Went in only to look at men's stuff as the husband was in a shopping mood, but we didn't find anything exciting. I did score a polka dot skirt from '05 and a (Liberty?) printed button-down from '07 at a consignment shop. Would have walked away with a bunch more if only I were a smaller size!

  10. I share everyone's sentiment. Went to the mall twice in the past month and both times passed right by the JCrew store without being tempted even the least bit by the window display. JC is usually a must-stop for me but this spring it's been the same old same old tired stuff, albeit in brighter colors. Maybe it's J Crew fatigue?

I'm really jonesing for a cute vibrant summer dress (a casual one and a dressy wedding one) and so far, none of my usual go-to retailers (JC, AT, Loft, BR, Madewell, Zara) have had any offerings that really wowed me. Maybe I need to trade up and start shopping again at Saks & Nordstrom.

Where do you all find your cute dresses? Favorite labels in the $200 or less dress range?

  11. I stopped into my local store and there were some great prices but sadly nothing was just screaming my name.

    I did pick up:

Veranda pant for $29.99 - I LOVE these, I love the look and the high waist. I can see how they would be one of those items that you either love or hate but really like them.

    Beatrice blouse - $39.99

    Downtown skinny jean for $19.99

I saw the indie dress in white marked down already along the other half of the store. Typically a sale like this would have me super excited but I was bored and left with only the items above. I think it is time for a shopping ban. I am obviously Jcrew'd out.

  12. Oh my! The Beatrice blouse is down to $40? I may have to go back in. I was at the mall today and literally popped in for a few minutes to peek at the new arrivals. There was one cute pink top w/embroidery that I liked. A strange looking uber-sequined tank, and I noticed shorts in the same paisley pattern as the Minnies. Didn't even look at prices. Just a super quick scan. Other items too, but just don't recall at the moment.

  13. MegCrew:
I also bought the Veranda pant on super sale. I really like them too but had to go up one size which was very odd since the other linen high waisted pants I got at JC were in my normal size. I agree you will either love them or hate them and highly recommend you do NOT buy these pants on final sale unless you have tried them on.
I also have made the mistake of making an almost full price purchase only to have the item go on sale shortly thereafter. Case in point was the Indie dress. I debated trying to locate my receipt for a price adjustment but it might be too late given I bought it in store. I also DETEST that 30 day return policy.

  14. Rose,
The jacket looked great on you. I loved your styling. What color are the pants you were wearing with it? I love the look of this jacket but have not been sure about how to style it. Also, thanks for the pics of the Marlow. I think it looked pretty large IMO. Did it feel having empty? TIA! :)

  15. Shekster- you gave a much better review of the pants than I. I too had to size up and I'm glad to hear it wasn't just me ; ). My favorite aspect of these pants is the linen, it is heavier and has a great texture and color!

  16. MegCrew: Can you tell me which store you went to? I'd like to call over there and see if they have the downtown skinny jeans in my size. TIA!

  17. I didn't hit JC, but I scored 4 watchbands at B&M American Eagle that work with the JCrew Timex. They were on the clearance table, $3.95 BOGOF. So 4 watchbands for $7.90 + tax! Colors I found were (1) navy/white stripe, (2) gray/lavender stripe, (3) red, and (4) navy/green stripe. They are the NATO style band, just like the JCrew watchbands.

  18. Thanks for the compliment MegCrew! You are too kind! I just tend to run on at the mouth. LOL I am also glad to hear it was not just me that needed to size up! I wish these pants were no dry clean. Other than that I really love them.

  19. Browsed through a really big sale section, but wasn't interesting enough to buy except for the Belmarin pants which were $9.99! Woohoo! =)

A bit weird - when I bought the pants, the SA told me it was final sale, but on my receipt, it said nothing of that sort.
