Today I visited my local J Crew in Las Vegas and the sales lady mentioned the teacher discount policy has been revised and the 15% discount can now be applied to sale items! They will not combine promotions, so it will not apply when they offer an additional 30% off. Great news!I am very thankful for the educator and student discounts at J.Crew– and was a bit sad to see it get reduced over the past few years. (It use to be allowed on online & phone orders, in addition to in store purchases. It was also not limited to full priced items, as it included sale priced items as well as items receiving an additional percent off.)
This is wonderful news! Hopefully this news is being spread by store associates in all brick & mortar locations. :)
What are your thoughts on this latest change? Did you know about this change? Will this have an impact on your future purchases?
Oh, that's nice! Wish they would reinstate it being used online, but oh well!
ReplyDeleteI hope this can be confirmed by others! I asked her twice, but it seems too good to be true :)
ReplyDeleteOh, this is good news. I took my daughter to the store to shop for her "professional" wardrobe items as she starts her first post-college position, and I noticed that they took off the 15% on everything - full price items and the sale items. I didn't notice until after we were home and I was checking the receipt (it was long! haha). Thanks for posting this 'official' policy change!
ReplyDeleteYAY! Finally something has been given back to the customer, instead of taken away!!
sub :)
ReplyDeletei wish it applied to online too, but it;s nice to see them upgrade perks:>
ReplyDeleteI heard them talking about this in my local store. It almost makes me wish I were a student again...almost.
ReplyDeleteWow, great news. They're finally taking the steps to unstupid their policies!
ReplyDeletethey do combine the 30% off and the discount in my store. They told me it was the new policy.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if this will apply to the Factory as well......?
ReplyDeleteit does just went yesterday :)
DeleteI wish it applied to those of us that still have student loans. *slaps knee*
ReplyDeleteHope the new policy is streamlined so all stores are doing it the same way.
YAY!!! :)
ReplyDeletegigi- that's so brilliant! totally agree :>
ReplyDeleteWoo hoo! I'm going to the Easton store in Columbus today, so I'll check about the policy and whether it can be combined with the 30% off promotion. My JC purchases definitely decreased when they applied the teacher discount only to full priced items, so I'm really happy about this change (though I doubt my bank account will be).
ReplyDeletegigi, LOL. So, that'd apply for the next 30 years for me... that'd be AWESOME!!!
ReplyDeleteWow. I should have asked when I was in the store on June 11th. I wonder if they had changed it then? I almost asked but thought I already knew the answer since I was buying sale items!
ReplyDeleteLauraK,
ReplyDeleteWhere is your local store? Just wondering if it is going to apply to all stores?
When I purchased sale items yesterday at my B&M, they combined my college discount with the 30% off promo.
ReplyDeleteJust got back from Easton in Columbus. And yes, the discount applies to your entire purchase (including items on promo and additional %off). The manager told me that it went into effect this last Monday, the 20th, and that it's not a limited time offer. The manager and other SAs seemed really excited about it. I was positively giddy. I got the islet paisly perfect shirt, the souk top, and a pair of bootcut jeans for $57 total. (The Easton sale section is huge, btw, if anyone is is the Columbus area.)
ReplyDeleteNow if they can only change their silly store returns policy, I may gamble on some reportedly bad quality merchandise.
ReplyDeleteGreat news. Will definitely increase the number of items I purchase. and it does make me feel appreciated as a customer!
ReplyDeleteI cut WAY back on my purchases when the educator's discount was taken away from sale and promo items. I might just now buy more...really happy that J.Crew has brought the discount back to not just full priced items.
ReplyDeleteI was told about this in the Vegas store and was also told it did not apply to extra % off. I wonder if CS could clarify this? Please extend this to online purchases too JC!
ReplyDeleteHi all!
ReplyDeleteToday I went back to the Vegas store and they applied the add'l 15% off to my entire purchase. So frustrating that their policy seems to change so frequently, but I'm not complaining - I love the add'l discount!
Can the discount be applied on red phone orders (and combined with the red phone free shipping)?
ReplyDeleteRosie: Yes, the student and educator discounts can be used on red phone purchases. One of the store associates can verify your ID for the online representative to apply to your order. Red phone orders of full-price merchandise ship for free, but sale items are still charged unless you give them a code for free shipping.
ReplyDeleteThanks, FFM! I'll try this next time I hit the B&M
ReplyDeleteHi! I just wanted to let y'all know that what FFM (thank you!) said was true for me at my B&M today.
ReplyDeleteI was able to combine the red phone free shipping AND the 15% student discount. The SA looked at my student card and started the red phone order for me, then handed off the phone to me. Yey! :)
but this never applies for third party merchandise, right?
ReplyDeleteI learned earlier today at my local J. Crew that the educator/student discount no longer applies to special occasion purchases (i.e. wedding and bridesmaid dresses). So unfortunate! Apparently this is a very recent change in policy. Just FYI!
ReplyDeleteNo longer able to combine the teacher discount with sales. All I am looking for is consistency!
