Will you be checking out the Sale section? Are there any items you are hoping to see or to get?
Maybe I woke up too late but there was nothing that caught my eye.
ReplyDeleteBTW the post heading says final sale... is it? I thought it was just regular... :)
ReplyDeleteI hope they have learned from the past and restock every morning and not just have a dwindling inventory of 20 items per category by Wednesday. They just have to accept that some of the sadder merch are not going to move unless they cost less than $20. May as well as sell it now rather than have it grow moss in a warehouse only to wind up at a sample sale in 6 months time.
ReplyDeleteHappy to see this promo! There are several items I was waiting on a price drop, so I ordered/re-ordered this morning.
ReplyDeleteSo annoyed! My shopping cart was emptied and many of the items I wanted are now FP. I hope they go on sale in the next few days. I dislike playing the pricing game!
ReplyDeleteAlso, does anyone have reivews on the lady lace popover? TTS? I have been coveting for awhile :)
Yep, I bit! There are a few things I had in my "extra % off" bookmark folder that I knew would last in inventory until a % off promo. Several items I purchased this past week with the FREESHIP code were popbacks that I scooped up and probably won't see for this promo but they were a nice price already and I'm grateful to have them. I'm going to my B&M this week to see what's to be had in the sale section with this promo; I'm still stalking the linen island cardi in the store-only pink color.
ReplyDeleteLet the returning/repurchasing begin! Some items I ordered on the freeship promo haven't even arrived yet. So I reordered them again with the 30% off.
ReplyDeleteAre items only final sale if it is marked so during checkout?
ReplyDeleteNothing that I really need. Saving up for the Nordstrom Anniversay Sale early next month!
ReplyDeletePfffft. $150 is too high for me. As they say on Shark Tank, I'm out.
ReplyDeleteEhhh...Annoyed. I placed a masssive order that will be here tomorrow. Of course I only purchased sale items and could have saved hundreds of dollars. Do I have to re-order everything to get back that money? I hate doing returns, but it would be worth it for the amount of money I would be saving.
ReplyDeleteKatherine - You can see the lace popover on pinkhondacivic, Ema and thechicchauffeur.
ReplyDeleteMore links to irl pics of sale items in this post.
I saw this last night and picked up another pair of summerweight chino shorts as well as a navy fisherman sweater and a few things for my husband. Was totally expecting it so had my cart loaded and jumped right on it. Nothing else in the sale section appeals to me at the moment. Will be checking to see if there is a restock during the week, just in case there are further markdowns.
ReplyDeleteCan anyone comment on the fit of the Jane dress? TIA!
ReplyDeleteWhen I chatted with an online helper I was told "our Jane dress is a loose-fitting dress with a stretchy fabric, the chest measurement is unknown, we suggest ordering your normal size." Unknown??? Just thought that was disappointingly funny.
ReplyDeleteHi, Please check out my latest Jcrew ebay auction. Super soft double serge pencil skirt in Ochre!

Subscribing. :)
ReplyDeleteNothing for me. Sitting this one out.
ReplyDeleteGreta, I tried on the Jane dress in store. I am about a 12 right now and tried on the 10 because there was no 12. The 10 was even loose in the chest. It looked oversized and unflattering. Too bad b/c it's a great price right now.
ReplyDeleteI picked up some suiting dresses and some t-shirts w/ the promo.
MUSTHAVE worked on one Factory item I had in my cart this morning, that was a nicw surprise.
ReplyDeleteHi Cass: That's what I was worried about. Maybe that's why the model wears a belt in the online pictures. Thanks so much for the info!!!
ReplyDeleteI just bought a few sale items from the J. Crew store this past weekend. I know that they won't honor price adjustments on sale items to get the 30% off. But has anyone returned the items and repurchased them to get the 30% off? I am thinking about doing this, but I don't want to get the evil eye from the CS! My store doesn't have the friendliest CS there....! Any feedback is appreciated! TIA! =)
ReplyDelete@ Jamie
ReplyDeleteThey won't let you return and buy back the same item at the extra 30% off. I tried that and it's a no go. What I have done, however, if find the same item in the sale rack and buy it and return the old one (in same size color). I got the evil eye from one CS (I think she was shocked to see someone return something to get $10 off) but most of the time they totally get it.
FYI - in stores, the 30% makes it FINAL sale.
ReplyDeleteOperaRach: Thanks for your input! That is exactly what I expect to happen, that they won't let me return and rebuy. I bought $150 worth of clothes yesterday (and most of them were the last size available). The 30% would save me $45! So here I am still debating what to do! I am slightly annoyed that I have all these new clothes with tags, and I have overpaid. Oh well.

ReplyDeleteI agree Jamie. I have actually purchased the boy shirt in sailor stripe 4 times! 4! That is ridiculous. In all my efforts I saved $27.00. That may not seem like a lot to many but I just can't get myself to waste my money.
ReplyDeleteI don't think a CS should care if I return an item just to purchase the same item at a lower price. I know it is a pain for them and it does cost Jcrew money but when push comes to shove if I am following the rules then it shouldn't be an issue. They would do the same if they were in my shoes. I am sure that if one of their fabric suppliers cut the cost per yard in half a day after they bought they wouldn't be very happy!
So, part of the fun with these promos is the guessing game. Who things there will be new markdowns within the short sale date? Lower prices? Popbacks?
I meant "who thinks..."
ReplyDeletedarn typos!
my verification word was "tramp"!?
I called local b&m today to see if they had two items I recently bought on sale but wanted to buy again with the 30% off which would save me $35. Worth it to me. I really hate when I know more than the sales associates working there! The guy told me that I could just bring my receipt in and they would do a price adjustment. I told him that I purchased them both on sale initially and wanted to return and buy different ones. He argued with me. Now we all know that if I had loaded up two toddlers and drove over there that they would not have done it. So I gave up on saving the $35. Just not worth it sometimes. Grrr....
ReplyDeleteJamie and MegCrew I am in the same boat with buying and rebuying for a lower price. Jamie, why don't you try to have a friend or relative go with you and give them cash and have them rebuy all your purchases? Maybe then JCrew would get a clue. They can't stop the next person in line from purchasing your stuff, right? So it should be none of their business if you know that person or not. How pathetic that I would even have to devise a scheme to save my hard earned money!
ReplyDeleteShekster -
ReplyDeleteThat is hilarious. Good idea! I always DREAD making returns - whether or not I am rebuying. It all depends on the CS I get. Most of them are very nice and at this point know me (embarrassing) but sometimes they just seem so put out and then the line backs up and I swear I am never going to order stuff that I don't want again!
I returned/repurchased some stuff today. I work about 4 minutes away from my local b&m, so I go in about once a week. They all know me and are all super nice (though it took some of them a few months to warm up). They said they aren't supposed to do it, but that they make exceptions for good customers. I understand the pain/hassle of doing it, but I really hate the game though, of buying something only for it to be $20-30 cheaper in less than a week...
ReplyDeleteUgh. I went into my local J. Crew this weekend to check out the new arrivals. The sale racks were busting at the seams so I thought an extra 30 was coming soon but remembered the recent article about J. Crew's profit dip. I debated whether or not to get the three items I wanted and decided to splurge. Of course they start extra 30 the VERY NEXT DAY. So I'll go and ask for an adjustment tomorrow and if they say no, I'll just return and attempt to rebuy. If that's a problem, then they lost a guaranteed sale plus the guarantee that I'd peruse the sale section again and possibly pick up something else with the money I saved.
ReplyDeleteLesson learned though. Won't ever buy a sale item without the extra 30. If I want it that badly, I'd pay full price. I find that to be a fair compromise to Mickey Drexler's desire to create full price shoppers.
To Jamie, and the others who just bought things that are now on sale: its your money not the sales people at the store. You should be able to get an adjustment if it has been within 7 days I think,if not just return it. Dont let let give you the evil eye.
ReplyDeleteremember July 4th is coming up and summer clothing will be marked down even more, someone in the thread just mentioned the Nord's Anniv Sale! thats way too much for me
Help me out financial gurus....we just recently heard that JCrew posted losses on the quarter ending 4/30. So that means they need to liquidate the slow-moving spring/summer merchandise before 7/31, right? Meaning, we aren't at bottom line markdowns yet?
ReplyDeleteWas there an update this morning? I didn't notice one but maybe it was small. Just wondering whether or not I should wait until tomorrow to place my order.... or perhaps there will be an update Thursday with continued 30% off... hmm...
ReplyDeleteOperaRach- I saw a very small update this morning....
ReplyDeleteI am jet-lagged and so I was up early this morning. The update was quite large with some nice popbacks. The white short-sleeve shirt is in the sale section for those of you interested. $27 is a nice price for a basic white shirt and short-sleeved ones don't come around easily. All the sizes were available, not sure now but worth a look.
ReplyDeleteAlso, if someone is looking for the fisherman sweater, the Rock Center store had piles of them in the three colors yesterday (small sizes included) and they are on sle as well.
What are people buying from the SALE accessories? When I log on, I always look at the numbers after accessories to see if there has been an update. And access. will be like 34, 45 or what not. But then in the afternoon it drops to 19. Totally boggles my mind what ppl are buying up! It's like the fastest moving category.
ReplyDeleteMy PS called me yesterday to let me know of the 30% off in stores and said I could go ahead and order them and he'd hold them for me. Got the Casblanca blue Cecelia dress for $70 ($99 w/ 30%) and the Soiree skirt in the waterlily floral print for $42 ($59 w/ 30%). Super excited because both of these pieces are still FP online!
ReplyDeleteNot sure if this is the right place to post this, but if any JCA is interested:
ReplyDeleteAs of 5:00 pm EST, the Towson, MD store had 1 Canvas Schoolboy Blazer in a size 12. Don't remember the price, but that store also had an add'l 30% sale (final sale).
Is anyone else looking forward to seeing what new & further markdowns happen after this promo ends? I know I sure am!
