J.Crew Collection's New Arrivals {online}

A big "thanks!" to ShuLvr (in this post), who let us know that the link for J.Crew's Collection, is now available online (click here to view Collection).

For some reason, during the latest update of the website (refer to the July 23rd post "J.Crew Updates Website With New Arrivals Today!", the Collection link was removed. Although, most of us JCAs have been able to peruse J.Crew's Fall 2009 Look Book already (refer to the June 18th post "J.Crew's Fall '09 Look Book {thanks naomi!}").

The Collection page has 9 stills to flip through and includes the following statement: "A few of our favorite things... we can't help dreaming about Fall's fabulous colors, sumptuous fabrics and couture-quality touches. The season's standouts? Luscious leather bags and vintage-inspired statement jewelry, sensual suede booties, and come-hither heels. It's an extra-special attention to detail and a wear-with-everything appeal that makes each piece completely craveable. Fall is for romance, and we're already head over heels... To pre-order, call 800-261-7422."

What are your thoughts on the items slated for the upcoming Fall season? Are there any pieces you are falling "head over heels" for? Will you pre-order any of the Collection pieces. :)

  1. I really want the colleen flats, but can't imagine paying $225 for shoes from JC. I will just hope that they go on sale and are still around in my size at some point! I am not planning to pre-order any collection items, but I did pre-order the silk chiffon tiered cami in fresh plum.

  2. I really want the professor blazer. The few other pieces that caught my eye are way out of my price range (yellow coat, lace cami) or do not look the same IRL (gold coin skirt).

    That blazer will be mine...

  3. math teacher, I want the Colleen flats, too. I've been trying to figure out what it is that makes them worth a $225 price point? The inner soles are probably not leather. Anyone have any ideas?

  4. JCAs in love with the Colleen flower flat, but not the collection price of $225:

For those smaller JCAs, consider buying the girls' colleen flat, on line at $118! [type colleen into Search]

** JCrew is in the newest Real Simple mag:

    p. 114, feature spred on "ruffles" is JCrew shirt at $89.50 a wonderful long-sleeved pinstriped cotton blouse with soft ruffles. Haven't even seen it on line!

    p. 183, "the hardest-working wardrobe" great photo of JCrew wool pants at $138, seem to be dressy wool?

[Don't have a scanner, alas, perhaps someone does.]

  5. Professor, if I thought I could get my foot into the girls' colleen, I would. But, even though I wear 6.5, I think that's still too big for girls' shoes. :( I'm just going to keep my fingers crossed! :)

  6. Math Teacher, I'm with you, but there seem to be many small JCAs, I thought it worth mentioning--at the same time, {GASP} at buying a small girl $118 party flats, esp since their feet grow so fast!

  7. Hi All I'm new! I'm curious about the pants from looks 14 and 18 from the lookbook. I haven't seen them anywhere else, at least I don't think I have. The Minnie pant has also caught my eye. I'm making a trip to my B&M tomorrow to try them out.

  8. OMG - I am IN LOVE with the Molly Platform Peep Toe (the one with the bow)! It is so cute! I love the color and I love the style! :)

    ReplyDelete
  9. Professor, there's no way I'd spend $118 on shoes for a growing girl - actually, I wouldn't spend that on any article of clothing for a growing girl or boy! :)

    ReplyDelete
  10. Me too Gingersnap! I love both the Molly peeps and the slingbacks.

    ReplyDelete
  11. The Molly platform peep toe with the velvet bow is very pretty. And the Metropolitan suede ankle boots look so soft and rich.

Interesting posts yesterday about the double-serge skirts for fall 2009. I have it in every color from 2008 and absolutely love them all. I will definitely pick this up again in the new colors. IMO the double-serge wool skirts were one of the top J.Crew items ever. Classic style in top quality fabric, expertly tailored for a fantastic fit.

  12. Tried on the Molly satin platform peep toes and the Charlie ruffled suede platform at the store yesterday... they're lovely! They're a little higher than the other J.Crew shoes I have since they're adding the 1/4" platform at the bottom. They're TTS. I won't pay full price for these shoes... would have to wait till they're on sale.

  13. There are some pretty things but I am disappointed with the oversized fit for me since I am Sz 0 so not holding my breath - all the Fall blazers I've tried in store are way too big. As for the shoes. I have loved JC heels in the past, but yesterday I bought 2 pairs of full price shoes in Coach, a gorgeous pair of ankle booties and a pair of patent trimmed Mary Janes and they were both significantly less than J.Crew. It occurred to me when I got home - since when did Coach cost less than J.Crew...? Anyway, they (Coach) of course only have a few select shoes I ever like or want, but they are beautifully made and very comfortable.
    Anyway, just random musings.
I do like grey ribbon front coat in the Collection pages and am glad it is not crazy expensive.

  14. Some JCAs reported seeing a double serge pencil skirt in orchid, retail only. If so, I want it! Sounds like a perfect match to pick up the lavender shades of the evening primrose cardi that I just purchsed.

Can anyone tell me if the orchid color is pale (like the lavander perfect fit cami), or a deeper, more saturated color?

    ReplyDelete
  15. Ooooo, Cheryl, I would be very interested in finding out more about the orchid skirt as well! That sounds like something I would definitely like.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Just bought the orchid double-serge skirt. Couldn't resist, as it's divine, just an absolutely enchanting color of purple.

Also picked up a pair of distressed jeans (12068) on markdown.

There was almost nothing left in the sale section - they must finally have given up on unloading all the chiffon-y junk that had been piling up in there since summer began. Last time I was in the store, the sale section was crammed full of items that looked in lousy condition.

Tried the piped professor blazer, but the sleeves are too long and the SA checked and said it does not come in petites, grrr.

    ReplyDelete
  17. The Metropolitan suede ankle boots caught my eye - very pretty! :)

    ReplyDelete
  18. La Belle Helene, please give more details about that skirt! Is it wool double serge or cotton? How much was it? I would love an item number off your tag since it seems this is retail only.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Desert Flower: This fantastic skirt is 100% wool, great for fall and thick enough to wear when I'll be stomping through the snow come winter. It's fully lined. The item no. on the tag is 17444.

It's $118 and I bought it as I suspect it'll be a hot seller because of the swoon-worthy color :-)

    ReplyDelete
  20. Loving the professor piped blazer but it is running big as usual. I sized down 1-2 sizes (depending on brand referring to) but I like the fit. It is not doing that pucker up at the shoulder as much as all of the Ecole and Maggies did on me.
I think this one is going to be very popular.
I have since been having visions of what I want to pair it up with...heart flutters. Hoping they will offer a 20% off new Fall items at some point. Anyone think they will?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Ooh,LaBelle Helene, I am smitten!
Thanks for the info! I called my local BM & the only double serge color they got was coded "FPL" for fuschia-purple. Is this the orchid color you're referring to? Would you mind checking your tag (sorry to trouble you) to see what your color code says? Many thanks in advance!

If I may ask, what do you plan on wearing it with? I have the evening primrose cardi but wondered what other in-store items arrived that were meant to pair with the skirt.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Cheryl, I just called my personal shopper too. She said the skirt is in a color called Plum. The other colors that will be coming out are black, pearl grey and buff, which is a pinky color. I had her order the Plum, I hope its the same one La Belle Helene is talking about!

    ReplyDelete
  23. OT: The Penelope Heels have been popping up on ebay I just can't remember the sizing. Does anyone know if they are tts or if I have to size up?

Just want to make sure before I bid on them. Especially since my last experience I had to size up with the Cates & Belindas. Thanks everyone!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Desert Flower, LOL... the lengths we go to track down an item! I just spoke w/a JCrew PS too, and he said the colors were bright blue, pearl grey, cinnamon stick, dusky blossom, fresh plum & black. They're supposed to be put online in the next day or two, and so far, no petite sizes available, which unfortunately, is what I need.

Please review the fit for us when you get yours! I searched under "fresh plum" on the website & a girl's flower hair clip came up; might give you an idea of what the color is like.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Cheryl: Yep, the color on the tag says FPL :-)

    ReplyDelete
  26. I saw the double serge wool skirt and tried it on ... LOVE!!! High quality, soft and thick. Also flattering. I'd say TTS to large. I took my regular size, but it was a bit looser than usual though not enough to size down.

I saw the purple, but it was too bright for my purposes. It was sort of a dark fuschia color, a little lighter than last year's plum IMO. HTH. I will be getting it in the pearl grey - what a gorgeous color! It will be perfect for fall and winter in my uber-conservative work environment.

    OT, sort of:

Any thoughts on the silk evening primrose top? I almost ordered it today on the red phone and reconsidered because I hadn't seen anything about it here.

Is it TTS? Boxy? Love? Hate?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Regarding fit, I find it TTS, but I will have to have it shortened a tad - however, my tailor doesn't charge much for such a basic hemming job, and it's worth it to me because the color is that great.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Lilac Cupcake, I received the evening primrose top on Friday. I normally take a 0 in J. Crew tops and found the armholes a bit tight so I'm exchanging for a 2. Other than that issue, I love it. Very pretty silk, the hidden button front is nice and the front panels are lovely. I really like this top.

I hope the skirt is more purple than pink. I am definitely not a fuschia girl!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Thanks Desert Flower for the info re: the primrose top! I will probably order it next weekend :)

I think the skirt is definitely a purple, but it is more of a red purple than a blue purple. I just looked at the flower pin Cheryl pointed out, and that is not the color I saw in the store. What I saw was more of a lighter plum color like the one seen here, rather than the darker plum seen here. It was definitely on the brighter side of the spectrum as well. HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  30. P.S. Desert Flower I think the skirt I saw was a shade or 2 lighter than the plum on the Astor coat. I just think the Astor coat is closer to what I saw than the flower pin. Maybe LBH can weigh in on the color if she sees this :)

  31. Has anyone tried on the long boyfriend blazer? (item # 19197). I noticed they added the schoolboy blazer in Navy online.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Holy heck that pic makes the Campo bag look large. But I likes.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Lilac Cupcake, thanks for clarifying that about the fresh plum color! I wish JC was more consistent with the colors when naming them. Those are both pretty, though I was hoping the pencil skirt was more of a blue-purple rather than a reddish purple.

    ReplyDelete
  34. If you have the time and inclination you should be able to DIY the colleen flats. Just get an inexpensive plain pair of ballet flats and a pair of matching flowers--either glue on or use shoe clips.

    ReplyDelete
  35. i'm generally pretty quiet on here, but wanted to pipe in for a moment! in an impulsive moment, i purchased what the b&m called 'dazzle paisley sequin blouse', but i think it's going to be called online 'sequin deco top'--you can sort of see it on the model wearing the wool professor blazer and pixie pant in the jc collection section. it's quite a chunk of change, but is gorgeous! i envision wearing it under a blazer or cardi for dinners out or in it's own glory for dressier events. i keep telling myself it's a timeless piece!

now if only it would go on sale...!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Stefanie - I am crazy about that deco top! This is sensitive, but would you be willing to divulge the price? My local b&m does not carry it, but have been wondering if I should make the effort to find it.

    ReplyDelete
  37. jessie b. If you mouse over the slide with the Professor blazer and sequin deco top the price is listed as $495 and said to be available online in September. HTH

    ReplyDelete
  38. yep, jessie b., xoxo is correct--a whopping $495. quite pricey, but hopefully will last for years to come! decent amt of handiwork on the top...i'm actually surprised it was that much less then the lace cami (though i guess lace is a pricier textile then sequins!)

if anyone does take the plunge, i think you might want to size down..i generally wear a 2 or 4 on top, but took a 0 in this (it was actually the only one left!) and it fits perfectly.

p.s. if anyone is searching for the crystal constellation cardigan, they had a bunch left in the store (not sure of sizes though--didn't look) 99 prince st, soho, nyc shop

    ReplyDelete
  39. Has anyone seen the fresh plum double serge pencil skirt in any of the NYC stores? Desperate to find this in a 0!

Also quite smitten with the Metropolitan suede ankle boots. To preorder or not to preorder...?

    ReplyDelete
  40. Cheryl, lilac cupcake etc,

I saw the wool pencil skirt in copper (cinnamon?) in store this weekend, and a size 2 looked like it ran big (I did not try it on, though). I did not check to see if there was a 0 in the other colors because I was only interested in the rust color. If it does not come in petites I will be disappointed. :-/

    ReplyDelete
  41. Dara--I am heading to the Rock store in NYC during my lunch. I'll report back if I see the skirt.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Thanks, Tracey! If so I will most certainly be heading there on my way home :)

    ReplyDelete
  43. According to CS, the double-serge pencil skirt, item # 17444, will be available online soon. Here is what they had to say about it via email:

The Perfect Pencil skirt will be premiering in our September 2009 catalog, which will be available online and through our catalog around the last week of August. The skirt will be offered in the sizes 0-14, and in the colors black, fresh plum, dusty blossom, cinnamon stick, pearl grey, and bright blue. The current selling price for this skirt is $118.

I've emailed back to ask if it will be available in petite sizes and will report back. It is nice to see the wide size range on this item, although it is reportedly fitting a bit large so may be a disappointment for those who need a size 0. Maybe the 0P would work for some. Sounds like this is incredibly popular already.

    HTH

    ReplyDelete
  44. FYI - I just found out the orchid skirt, aka the perfect pencil skirt, will be available in petites on-line some time in September!

I'll be exchanging my regular size one for a petite & saving myself the $$ on hemming :-)

    ReplyDelete
  45. I am excited to hear the skirt will be offered in petites! The double serge has been very popular and already offered in petites, so it would make little sense if JC stopped offering it in those sizes. yay!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Aficionadas - rejoice with me! I had always thought of the platinum Las Palmas bag as the one that got away. I always waited for pop-backs but missed those too. Well - Friday it was there - online - waiting for me. I bit and now it has shipped. Keep your fingers crossed!

    ReplyDelete
  47. I wish they'd offer a nice, fitted jacket in the matching double-serge fabric. I'd totally go for that.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Great score on the bag jessie b. Always nice to pick up a coveted item, especially on sale.

Excellent news on the petite Perfect Pencil skirt La Belle Helene. I agree with you about a matching jacket, it would be adorable as a suit. Last year the double-serge fabric was available on the Tuesday trench and Maggie jacket, although only the black Maggie could have matched the skirt. I have both Tuesday in navy and Maggie in camel and really like them, in large part due to the double-serge fabric. It just looks so rich and classy. Maybe there will be jackets available this year again too.

  49. Hi Dara, I went to the Union Square store at 5 Avenue. They have the skirt in plum color. You can try calling them to see if they still have the size 0 available.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Thanks, Jean! Will do this evening :)

    ReplyDelete
  51. Dara--I just got back from the Rock store. They do have the double serge pencil skirt in the 4 colors. I LOVED the plum and cinnamon. I already went ahead and purchased the plum because I'm sure it will sell out quick. Smaller sizes were already selling out. The skirt is exactly the same from last year. I think you'll love it!

    ReplyDelete
  52. My PS just messengered over the double serge skirt to my office, I got the plum (absolutely gorgeous, not too dark, not too light) and the pearl gray for now.... although I'm sure I'll get the cinnamon and blue as well (the blue was the only color I missed out on last fall!).

    ReplyDelete
  53. HI everyone, I am excited to see this double serge skirt!

For anyone who has seen the cinnamon stick color, is it darker or more brown than the deep persimmon from last year?

    Please let me know, thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  54. LizPoms, I just saw it and it's quite different from the deep persimmon color. I believe that was more of a red whereas this is more of an orange, similar to the glazed pecan color they are offering this year but more orange than brown. HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  55. lizpoms,
it is not as bright as the red/persimmon from last year. it's more muted. kind of a brick color. it is more in line with copper, mars, and cinnamon colored items that are currently online.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Thank you everyone...now I am really excited!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Re: Penelope heels:

Mary janes fit TTS, but if you had to you could go 1/2 size down in the peep toes. I got my usual size but feel that a half size smaller would also have worked because of the extra room from the peep toe. HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  58. I finally got my fresh plum skirt! Just want to say thank you to all my fellow NYC JCAs who were so helpful yesterday!

    ReplyDelete
  59. Does anyone have any information on the ruffled long-sleeve pin-striped shirt mentioned in Professor's post above? Is it similar to the Christen shirt modeled by Tres Trippy on her blog? Haven't been able to find it online and would love to get details! TIA!
