Crewcuts Email: her back-to-school checklist

"Thanks!" to many of you, including Marietta & HeidiG, who shared the following email with us.

It's Friday, so here's the weekly email sent from Crewcuts! ;) This time they are showcasing their Girls' Back-to-School Checklist of clothes & accessories. One item included, that I didn't even know they offered is the Girls' Selima Optique® for Crewcuts Scout Glasses (Item 19427; $120.00). Cute (but pricey) glasses! :)

Also, how cute is that girl's outfit? I like the style so much that I would totally wear it all (minus the socks)! ;)

Side Note: "Thanks!" to Victoria & Tara who shared a {very funny} link from Jezebel about Crewcuts (click here to read).

Are your kids planning to wear Crewcuts on their first day of school? Will you be shopping at Crewcuts this weekend?

  1. I honestly don't like to pay FP for the crewcuts unless it's something truly exceptional - but I am loving that dress. May have to get it for E. She will probably wear her crewcuts tiered ruffle skirt for the 1st day of school...but you never know what she will decide. :)

  2. My DD will probably be wearing a lot of crewcuts shirts (the water-ballet tee is her favorite because she loves the octopus) which we purchased on sale, but most of her wardrobe will probably be Olive Juice, Boden, and Target. I just don't think crewcut items handle the daily wear and tear of my DD. I have resisted buying jackets and sweaters from crewcuts because inevitably they get stained or worse, lost for the day, which causes a panic.

HeidiG, I love the tiered ruffle skirt on little girls! It was one of the few items I purchased from crewcuts at full price and we have gotten a ton of wear out of it. The nice thing is that it's very comfortable and since it's elastic, can be worn for a long time :)

  3. audball - that's so funny you mention the water ballet tee - that's the one E usually wears with her cream tiered ruffle skirt! Funny thing with the skirt is E was trying things on in her own dressing room (1st time ever - she loved it), and she had picked it up in a 10, when she really wears a 7 in bottoms. It works, so I guess we'll get many seasons out of that item!

  4. Oh I totally agree about the tiered ruffle skirts. DD has it in 2 colors and she wears them again as soon as they are washed. She always turns heads in it and she loves ruffly swingy clothes! **SIGH**

I'm sure we will work in Crewcuts somehow on the first day of school! We love the short puffer jacket with the ruffled collar for winter, but haven't decided whether to take the plunge. Anyone have this?

  5. alas, there'll be no crewcuts for my 2 girls--private school with a very strict dress code. I do find that crewcuts is reasonable on sale, especially the everyday dresses.

Both of them are all about flower headbands and bubble bead bracelets, both of which are overpriced in my opinion, but sometimes, well, y'all know how it goes...

Right now DD is crazy about her new blossom ring, but mom is having a major case of buyers remorse. Cute, but almost $30 for a ring for a 6 year old?

Love mimiBoden too, audball! Good quality, good prices, and where I live, you don't see lots of other kids with the same stuff.

  6. Mags: For jackets, I love Land's End's jackets...they really stand up to playground wear and are so easy to clean. I get ours on sale at the end of the season for the following school year. The Crewcuts version is super-cute but I would opt for the darker color...playgrounds are bad news for lighter colored jackets! :)

HeidiG: I got both the 6-7 in the blue and the next size up (8-10?) because sometimes in crewcuts DD is between sizes. I tried on the larger one and it fit LOL! I can't make it work like DD, but it just goes to show how generous the skirt is!

  7. Delia: Have you checked out Forever21 and Target for jewelry? Thanks to GiGi's blog, I've really looked more at these stores for jewelry for DD...she usually doesn't care for it, but when she goes for it, it's more in my price point!

  10. Audball:

I think you are so right about the coat color. I just tried on her Lands End 3-in-1 coat from last year, and it still fits! Maybe I'll pick up the Crewcuts one on sale for next year??

Also those links to Forever21 are SUPERCUTE! Do you think they would fit my little 5-year-old though? Are they adjustable?

  11. Mags: TBH, I've never ordered one, so I'm not sure if the rings would fit a little kid. But I would say that the chances of them lasting longer than the crewcuts' ones are pretty good - maybe because they aren't adjustable (DD's adjustable rings seem to break easily). For $5.00 I'd order one just to check out :)..maybe retrofit it with a little masking tape in the inside of the ring for a tighter fit...

Yeah...I'd love the crewcuts coat, but dang! $98 for a kid's coat. I suppose if I had two girls it would potnetially be worth the investment :)

  12. i was shopping crewcuts about 2 months ago and upon check out, they gave me "critter club" card - which is kind of a reward card. you spend $75 and then they gave you a stamp on the card. after a certain amount of stamps, then you can redeem your card for 25% off all your crewcuts purchase. have you guys heard of this?

  13. Alexis - love the new look!!! Fab, dahling. (:

  14. Lin: No, that's awesome! I wish we had a crewcuts here..but then again, it would be far too tempting to purchase. I wonder if they would do that program online for those of us who purchase crewcuts via the website. It would be interesting if they would allow us to "double dip", by paying with a JC Card and getting a Critter Card!

  15. Audball - you are so right about the price of that coat, but I can easily pass it on to other little girls or sell at consignment, but it's still pricey! Lands End and LL Bean have some awesome, very kid-tough coats. We used to live in Vermont and I counted on them for superwarm winter gear! Plus I will have to check out those F21 rings sometime...

I would love to have a Critter Card!!!! I've never been offered one of those at aB&M or Crewlet.

  16. Have any of you seen the recent Progressive Insurance ad with a woman (who is, naturally, looking for insurance) wearing a white top and a pink/peach short-sleeved cardigan? The white top she's wearing is totally J.Crew!

  17. I saw that, too! That reminds me I saw a detergent commercial last night featuring the perfect fit corsage tee in breeze!

  18. Where are the BOYS back to school checklists? I know boys' clothes aren't as fun...

  19. audball, i hear you....i made my crewcuts purchase mostly online..the closest B&M to me shut down their crewcuts dept. that's why i'm surprised when they gave me that card at another B&M which has much bigger crewcuts collection. i just looked at the card again and it's min. $100 not $75 for 1 stamp (sorry!) and you need 5 stamps for redemption. i thought $75 coz i got 2 stamps even though i only spent $160 - hmmm, i guess i was lucky :D
now i have to work on $300 crewcuts spending at B&M....good thing the card doesn't have any expiration date so no pressure :P
