I just want to mention that there is an article about the J.Crew Aficionada blog over at the Supermelon, a site devoted to showcasing the latest on "global style, shopping, arts, trends, and travel" (click here to read the article). It was very flattering that Kate Childs, from Supermelon, wanted to write a story about this blog. :) Thank you Kate!
It's also interesting to see the editing process. Some of the quotes got shrunk in detail- and I *totally* understand the reasoning behind doing so. I do tend to ramble on and on a lot. (Just ask my friends. If I start talking about one story, I end up going on tangents and talking about three other stories too!) ;)
For example, the question of "What prompted you to start the blog?", had the following response:
I originally started the blog in 2008 because I felt there was a void. I was looking for a site that not only discussed J.Crew, but provided reviews on clothes, news on the company, and of course, coupons and codes. I say this often, but the site is only great because of the fantastic members. I think it’s that collective and kind spirit among the members that motivates me every day.
My original, unedited, response is the following:
I originally started the blog, on Mother's Day in 2008, because I felt there was a void. I was looking for a site that not only discussed J.Crew, but provided reviews on clothes, news on the company, and of course... coupons & codes for J.Crew. It wasn't long after the first post that JCAs (J.Crew Afiiconadas & Aficionados) started visiting the site. It really has developed over the past year to a wonderful community. I say this often, but the site is *only* great because of the fantastic members. They keep the site alive by sharing with each other different events at stores, news, sales, emails, and promotions. They even go out of their way help each other locate items- how awesome is that!?! I think it's that collective & kind spirit among the members that motivates me everyday.
Lastly, I credit (and always will) the success of the blog to you all.
Thank you J.Crew Aficionadas & Aficionados!!!
Congrats on the recognition! I love reading the blog. Keep up the fantastic work!

ReplyDeleteAlso, thanks for the words on the change in layout on the main page. I was inspired to change it up a bit after seeing how great Chloe's (from "the (chloe) conspiracy" blog) new layout looks. :)
Congratulations, Alexis, the recognition is absolutely well-deserved!

ReplyDeleteAlexis --- you are the best! (((Hugs))) to you for taking so much time with this blog, we all really appreciate it!
ReplyDeleteI did not see an ad for JC on the page I read, but isn't that so ironic considering the crap they pulled this week? Sigh... They should be grateful for obsessed fans.
What a fun read! Yay, Alexis!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! I just went over and checked out the article! It is so nice and I love it :)
ReplyDeleteBTW, I think you are totally on point with the neon comments...I don't know who is going to wear that IRL!
Congrats Alexis, you deserve it for having such an amazing blog. Yay yay yay.
ReplyDeleteEveryone: Thanks again for the nice words. Everyone is so nice!!! {hugs} & {high-fives} all around! :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats!! :) I found your blog through someone who had posted about it on fatwallet.com, and I've never looked back! ^^
ReplyDeleteAlexis,
ReplyDeleteThis is a great interview, and you come off as very polished and sophisticated.
My question: where do you find 'nice day nice things' here in the States or online?
Toast: Thanks for the nice words! :)
ReplyDeleteKikki Cee: Thank you too! :) Nice Day Nice Things is a Spanish clothing & accessories store. It's super girly and super cute. They recently changed their name to just Nice Things. Unfortunately, they are not available in the U.S., so I tend to "stock up" when I travel to Spain, France, and/ or Canada (which unfortunately doesn't happen that often); or when my friends travel to those places (I ask them to purchase on my behalf and then reimburse them). ;)
Nice read! Congrats, Alexis--you deserve to be recognized! I really appreciate all your hard work with this blog and the little community you have built here. I also appreciate everyone's willingness to be so helpful in sharing and responding! It's fabulous:O)
ReplyDeleteALexis, congrats! Loved the interview. Thank you for putting in the hours every day to put the blog together. I just adore it!
ReplyDeleteAlso, thanks for turning us onto Nice Things! I immediately called my sister who is spending the fall in Portugal to research her dissertation and she has agreed to scope it out for me! The bags on the homepage are ADORABLE!!! Can't wait to see what she finds!
And general good news: I was weeding through some more unpacked boxes and found AN ENTIRE YEARS' worth of 07 catalogs, including Morocco! DYING to go back through them! :) Only JCAs would understand....
MommyDearest: Thanks! Also, I am so jealous of your sister! I hope she (& you too!) will enjoy Nice things.
ReplyDeleteAlso, how exciting is that find of yours!?! That is fantastic!!! (And I am jealous too!) 2007 as a whole was an amazing collection from J.Crew. :)
