J.Crew's Latest Catalog {double check it!}

JCAs have mentioned that they received the latest catalog in the mail recently. Incidentally, J.Crew provides the latest catalog online (click here to view).

Some JCAs found something extra special in the newest catalog...

"Thanks!" to Naomi who not only let us know that she received a 10% off & complementary shipping code (with no minimum), but wanted to share it with the blog. However, the code was a one-time use code (which she found out after she made a purchase with it, and tried using it again through a mock checkout). :)

"Thanks!" to MCC (in this post, as well as this post at her huddyma blog) who shared with us that she: "read that some people are receiving coupons for 20% off any purchase, sale or otherwise, in their newest J Crew catalog".

Also, "thanks!" to Mary J (in this post) who found something similar in her catalog: "I received the catalog with the 20% off coupon a few days ago...it's a smaller catalog than the store catalog...same cover...just no crew cuts included. The coupon is a small attached insert just inside the front cover...don't know why I got one, as I am not a J.Crew card customer. It's for online purchases only, so really only covers shipping..."

I did receive the latest catalog the other day. There was no offer or nothing extra attached. [Like a complete dork, I ran to my catalog and checked it again to see if I missed it. But I didn't. ;) ] To be honest, I am just happy to get a catalog! ;) Also, I am really happy for those JCAs who received something extra in their copy of the catalog.

So if you get the latest J.Crew catalog in the next week or two, double check inside to see if there's a special offer.

Congrats to all those with an offer! :)

  1. I saw your earlier post about not getting catalogs, and I haven't. I wonder how they decide who gets what - obviously I don't spend enough in their eyes to warrant a catalog, let alone a discount. To be honest, it makes me feel a little slighted, especially something as trivial as not getting a catalog anymore. I don't have a B&M store nearby, so I rely on them to see how the clothes are styled. It's a big disappointment to know I'm not a worthwhile investment of a few pieces of paper in their eyes.

  3. If the catalog mailing is depending on how much you spend, I think I should have recieved mine already....but alas....not yet.

  4. I am so jealous! I've spent quite a bit of money on JC orders this summer, I would have loved a free ship coupon for some fall stuff. *Sigh* maybe one day I'll be among the chosen few ;)

  6. I could see how people would want the coupons (though most of us received a Free Ship coupon via email recently, which Alexis conveniently posted in the coupon corner for all to use), but what is the big deal about getting a paper catalog? Unless you don't have internet access, you can view the catalog online and all the product descriptions/photos through the regular site. Think of the trees you are saving (plus the carbon dioxide not being emitted into the atmosphere to ship out all those catalogs)! It is estimated that the average household receives 40 pounds of catalogs/junkmail every year. Mutliply that by the numer of households in the U.S. and you get the idea. I removed myself from the catalog list a long time ago from many companies (incl. JC) b/c seeing them pile up just looks like a massive waste of resources to me! OK, done with my environmentalist rant for now. :)

  7. Cass, I like to keep the catalogs and refer back to them when I get dressed in the morning. I just bought the silk garland tank and had to go back to the February catalog to see it featured. They do not keep old catalogs on the site past a month or two.

  8. Cass: I do not live near a store depend on the catalog to see what color the item actually is, you cannot depend on the colors on-line they are off enough to make a difference, and you can avoid having to return things which saves the environment too.

  10. I have all my JCrew catalogs since 2001. I have them all filed in boxes. I love looking back at them. I no longer get them but have to make the trek to the store.

  11. I haven't gotten the latest catalog, but have been anxiously awaiting for it to arrive! I hope I haven't been dropped from their list. I buy both online and in-store, but the catalog usually drives me to the store. I pick out what I want ahead of time and it makes in-store shopping so much easier.

  12. I recycle most of them, but I've kept special ones over the years - like Paris, naturellement :-) Also Highlands (man, I love the cover of the luminous blonde model standing by herself on a hillside), and the holiday ones. I love going back over catalogs for inspiration...

On the subject of catalogs, today's mail included one from Boden, complete with 15% off and free shipping & free returns. Heed that, j.crew!

  13. My catalog arrived today and the only promotion inside was for opening a new credit card (and to meet Jack). Boo-hoo, I really need a good discount.

  14. I so wish I'd kept my old catalogues from recent years. THe Paris, Prague and Scotland ones are so great.

  15. Bah! I have not even gotten the catalog yet, let alone a secret coupon!! So jealous :)

  16. I'm such a dork. Two days ago I told my husband to toss the jcrew catalog he'd just retrieved from the mailbox, because I already gotten one from the store. So after reading this post, I went through our trash in the garage, tore open two bags, finally found it.... and no coupon. Yeesh =(

Yeah to all you luckies out there!

  17. I keep the catalogs as a reference when shopping on eBay for items from seasons past--I have made some amazing finds of both new and used clothes and shoes.

  18. I got my catalog in the mail on Monday but sadly no coupon inside...

  19. I got a catalog with a coupon, but it is a one-time use free shipping on $150 coupon. I am glad I got a coupon, but I would rather have the % off plus free shipping, especially since they canceled the KOP event :P

  20. La Belle Helene - I got a Boden catalog with buy 3 items, get the 4th for $1, and free returns. (no free shipping). Very weird. I'd much rather have 15% off overall, since I don't want to buy 4 items right now (rather, my wallet/husband don't want me to). But at least they are both discounts.

  21. It's been ages since I received a coupon in my catalog...JC used to send it often years ago...
Maybe those who received the coupon were fairly new JC customers?

In this economy a lot of retailers are offering % off entire purchases, or one FP items and incentives to get customers...but all JC is doing is offering Free Shipping or maybe 20% with no free shipping (back in May). If that's how they want to do business so be it. A lot of us are not willing or able to afford FP and would rather spend $ on retailers offering discounts and great incentives.

  22. I got the catalogs, but no coupons for me neither.

  23. I hope I get a catalog! Seems silly considering that I've been receiving them since the mid-90s, but your stories have me worried now. I hope DH gets one too! Maybe there will be a hidden coupon treasure in one of them. This is turning into the lottery.

  24. I received the catalog, but no coupons, sadly no love for the Canadians I bet.

  25. No percentage in the catalog I recvd the other day. Thanks for the notice!

  26. I didn't get a catalog but my husband did with the coupon (I kept my maiden name when we got married as I am published under it so we tend to get double catalogs from different stores). I spent tons of money on J.Crew this year but my husband only made a few purchases. It seems like they are giving the catalogs and coupons to the customers who don't buy regularily to entice them to spend.

  27. No special offer for me. I didn't even get that 20% off red card month ago - seriously. Plus, I'm a cardmember, so shouldn't card members be one of the first groups of people to get a discount? No?

Then whats the point of having a card? Oh yeah, $25 reward each time I spend $500. It should be $25 reward 4 times a year, regardless. But that may just be me being greedy!!!

  28. Alexis, thanks so much for posting this! I was cleaning out some old catalogs the other day and found one from the summer with a $25 off coupon in it that I never knew about! (It had expired of course. Sigh.) The catalog was addressed to my roommate who never shops at J.Crew - mine, of course, was couponless. But since we both received the September catalog I will be going through hers when I get home tonight... very excited to see what I find!

  29. ah hah! I did not get the coupon nor the catalog but my dear husband got it with a one time only free shipping code with any amount order until Sep 6th. Now, I spend WAY more than he does and I didn't even get a catalog. Well, you ladies should get your husbands/boyfriends/roomates to just sign up for the catalog and give the coupons to you! :)

  31. Shopper 555:
You are right! Actually I found that it was my husband's catalog which contained the coupon, not mine. I thought it was mine but I got my catalog without a coupon today:( It seems that J.Crew sends the promotion codes to the customers who haven't purchased from J.Crew for a while.

  32. Naomi-same thing happened to me-maybe they are trying to get the men to buy stuff! I finally got my catalog-almost a week after my husband's arrived with his coupon. Anyways we'll be using his coupon for the next order we make-we'll just order together.
