A ginormous "thanks!" to SC Crew who was kind enough to share several preview images of J.Crew's Fall 2009 collection! :) There is a little something for everyone here: men, women, boys, and girls!
I can't wait for Fall! The clothes look amazing. ...And the charcoal blazer with the black trim, oh the blazer! {lusting.} It's just a scrumptious item that will be in my closet. ;) [Incidentally, "thanks!" to JCmama & GigiOfCa (in this post) who let us know that it's the Herringbone Professor Blazer (Item 17375; $198.00).]
What are your thoughts on the items slated for upcoming Fall 2009? Are you excited or disappointed? Which items do you love or would leave? ;)
I looked through the Fall Lookbook the other day when I was at my local store and there are a couple of items in there that I want, including a fantastic feather clutch. Totally unnecessary, but fun and wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI also love the "Wool Herringbone Professor Blazer" (one with the trim)!
ReplyDeleteSeeing the pictures, I'm curious to what style bag the model was wearing...similar to the gallery hobo, maybe?
I'm so excited to see all the beautiful outfits for fall, but it's just so hot here even to wear a cardi. I hope it cools down a bit.
LOVE the last blazer (the professor blazer?). Love love love.
ReplyDeleteEverything else, hm. I've felt fairly lukewarm about. I like jewel tones for fall and winter, and J Crew has been sticking with a more anemic palette lately that just hasn't done it for me personally. *cries*
There's lots of stuff I like but nothing I really love- nothing that excites me and makes me say, "HOLY MOLY I NEED THAT RIGHT NOW!". Who knows, hopefully I'll be eating my words come September. :D
I saw that blazer with the trim last week at my local B&M. It is a great jacket.
ReplyDeleteOTT - I got my order from the Gap/BR/ON give and get yesterday, and the ON weekend jeans were a good surprise. They are similar to the JCrew distressed jeans, but not as wide. This is the first time I buy jeans from ON and found the size chart very accurate, no need to buy more than one pair in case the fit was not right.
ReplyDeleteThe blazer is already in stores. I saw it last Saturday (IRL it's exactly like in the pic).
ReplyDeleteI'm not excited by these outfits, good thing I'll be on vacation whe the next rollout comes out!
I have the Professor blazer and ADORE it. The wool is soft and thick, the lining quality/silky, buttons on cuffs really unbutton--with a cuff on the sleeves meant to be cuffed up--allowing any length you want. The ribbon "trim" on top of each pocket is actually a second pocket sewn on top of the patch pockets (sweet luxury touch).
ReplyDeleteI went in to buy the "flannel" grey boyfriend jacket, but compared to the Professor blazer, it didn't have a chance!
[Since reading all the great articles Alexis has recently shared with us, I'm convinced that inventory is probably DOWN and I can't count on any one special item being available in quantity this year, so I'm buying the special ones at full price in my size while I can and holding off on various other items.]
I tried on the Professor Blazer yesterday afternoon. I normally wear a 4/6 in J Crew tops/jackets and ran into some trouble with this one. The four would be snug with a couple layers and even at just a tee, pulled a bit over my broad shoulders. I tried the six and it was huge in the waist and didn't look as good. I passed for now, but if I decide to buy it, I guess I will need to get it altered.
ReplyDeleteWhile I like the blazer, it seems silly to have something like that here in SC. I would like to see the paisley dress (worn with the green cardi).
ReplyDeletei cant see any of the images:(
ReplyDeletebut tried on the professor blazer last week and LOVED it. Need to wait b/c I bought the EDEN in Iris.
Nothing but the blazer on my list. I am seeing that style of blazer and the retail-only sailor stripe tee in almost every store already. Also, lots of sweaters with tipping, which I love.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the sneak peak.
This blazer is the one I saw yesterday in the store. Didn't try it on, as it caught my eye as I was walking out the door. Very pretty IRL. I personally like these wool blazeers, even in SC!! I wear them to work, in lieu of wearing a regular overcoat during the winter.
ReplyDeleteI love the Professor Blazer. I tried it on over a tee and Jackie cardigan and it ran true to size for me. It is a slim fit and probably wouldn't work over a bulky sweater.
ReplyDeleteI wish it came in another color because I have the grey herringbone Fiona from last winter.
The Professer blazer was actually named " Telulah" on my receipt. Wonder if they changed the name like with the endless summer cardigan, now Forever....
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know if the piped jacket come in petites?
ReplyDeleteOT - My ps just called to tell me that new items are coming in tomorrow (Charleston, SC) and will hopefully be on the floor by Saturday. I'm sure most b&m's will be getting more new merchandise.
ReplyDeleteLeader, if I worked in an office setting, I would definitely go for the blazer since I love jackets! However, since I'm at a school, I tend to materials I can wash. I do have one nice wool jacket and that's enough for me. I don't wear it to school, though. :)
ReplyDeleteI was able to pick up the blazer recently and love it! I can't wait for Fall weather to wear it :) I didn't like the schoolboy or velvet blazers as much. There is also a greenish mohair sweater pictured and that comes in cute colors too but when I tried it on it was terribly itchy!
ReplyDeleteI called yesterday about the blazer and yes, it is called the "Tallulah" (sp?) and no, it does not come in petites. HTH.
ReplyDeleteSorry, but that green mohair sweater looks atrocious...looks like an 80 year old bag lady sweater!!! Also, mohair has to be the itchiest wool out there--never understand why manufacturers choose to use it.
ReplyDeleteOn a positive note, I did get the downtown field jacket featured in one of the pics and it is great--a sturdy jacket and fun.
ReplyDeleteI just returned the bell flower top (in sage, size 2).... it just did not work for me at all. The fit was great, and I love the twisted collar, however the dangling bell flowers were all wrong on me.... I am a 34C, there was just too much going on up there! I wish they would make a version of the top without the flowers, because the fit and drape was excellent.
ReplyDeleteOoooh, I love that Tallulah jacket. Does anyone know how much it is?
ReplyDeleteAmy, I believe the jacket is $198. Marietta, I had the same problem with the bell flower top--I like the way you put it--"too much going on up there." ;) I returned it for the same reason.
ReplyDeleteI just received this years matchstick cords in graphite and they fit TTS even without the stretch in them, and they are so soft. I will be ordering another pair when there is a promotion, or hopefully a private sale code.
ReplyDeleteThe Sherpa Hoodie is alot longer this year and is so cozy.
I love fall clothing but I'm not too inspired at the moment. Thanks to Marietta's favorable review I did get the collection wool pencil skirt and it is gorgeous. The professor blazer looks promising but I am not back in the U.S. for a few weeks so will have to wait until it is available online or see it when I get back. Mohair is itchy and I think texture is the big draw with that wool but personally I just can't wear it.
ReplyDeleteOther than that I am picking up a few summer items on sale and enjoying the warm weather while it lasts. Fall is coming, soon enough.
I like the paisley dress and like the *idea* of the cardi they've paired with it, but maybe not in that colour...:)
ReplyDeleteAnd the Tallulah jacket is dreamy.
my PS told me my store would be getting new items on Aug. 11, including the Anton sweater which I've had my eye on.
ReplyDeleteOT: Has anyone seen the contrast stitch perfect shirt still in stores, in a smaller size (0-2)? If I am normally a 0, would a 2 still work?
Thanks!
Does anyone have any opinions on the Dressy Jersey Ruffle sleeve dress (#16631) or the Dressy Jersey Friday dress (#18151)? I noticed they have both been reduced recently and haven't heard any reviews yet...thoughts? I love a good jersey dress :)
