J.Crew's September Catalog (over at jcbellemarie)

"Thanks!" to jcbellemarie, who has shared several photos from J.Crew's upcoming September catalog. To view the additional images, you can read her post (at her great "jcbellemarie" blog): "JCrew September 09 Catalog/ in store sneak peek".

Who else is crushin' on the red ruffle jacket (in the 4th image)? So many pretty things... must have... ;)

Also, "thanks!" to many JCAs who reported that the next roll-out of new Fall arrivals will be hitting the shelves of brick & mortar (B&M) stores this week. (Either this Wednesday or Thursday– depending on your store.) How exciting! :)

Are you excited about the latest new arrivals for Fall? Are you planning to stop by your local B&M store to view the latest Fall items? If so, please share! :)

  3. Yes!!! I got my catalog last night, and am in love with so much, especially the Crosby Coat (18031) (like last season's Carrie but without the ties and more seams), Frances in the new Bronzed Beige Herringbone print (17719), Antique Ruffle Top in the Burgundy print (17338), Wool Twill Studio Trouser in Copper (17301), Cashmere Darling Ruffle V-neck Sweater (18246), and Selby hobo (18260).

  4. Thanks Alexis & JCBelleMarie,

    I took a quick glance. The pictures reeeaaaly help. Also, did you say that the Mia pencil skirt comes in petite? I'd be very happy if it does.... Even if I do have to return the reg sizes, more reason to visit the B&M ;}

    TIA,

    Heather

  5. Heather - i just took another iphone pic for you. the office is rather quiet right now (wonder if people who took the afternoon off are at JCrew?!)

    The perfect pencil skirt (aka Mia?) comes in a new pretty blossom color. it says fully lined, 0-14, 17444A $118 and petites 00-12 18630A $118. (yey!) The other colors are pearl grey, fresh plum, cinnamon stick, and black.

  7. Thanks jcbellemarie!

    I just now placed a phone order. When I asked the CSA if she knew anything about a petite Mia she couldn't say. In fact, she couldn't even find the regular skirts. To her credit, it sounds like they're still operating off the old August catalogue. I must say, I love how JCA & your blog have the very latest info!

    Now I have to go back to the B&M to return the reg sizing. Drat :}

    Thanks again,

    Heather:D

  8. OMG, I'm so jealous of all of you who live in the US and can shop in B&M stores! 3.5 more weeks before my trip to NY...

  9. Thanks Alexis and jcbellmarie!

    I like the jacket in the 4th image. I'm getting excited for this new rollout! I can't wait to check out these new arrivals at the Brea JCA event I will be attending this week. [My wallet is crying~~]

  10. Alexis, I am also crushing on the red ruffle jacket! :) LOVE it!

    Mrs. Jenner - I pre-ordered the tiered tank and am still waiting for it to arrive. It sounds like I'm going to be disappointed. :( I'm going to keep my fingers crossed though - maybe it will work on me. If not, then I think I'm going to go for the paisley dress even though it's a little more than I'd like to spend.

  11. The red ruffle jacket is lovely, but there is that big plastic snap again. Not sure why but I find it those snaps totally repellent.

    Loving the peacoat and of course, Come to me Mia, in every color...Totally gorg! ;-)

  12. Mrs.Jennifer - That's a great styling idea w/the skirt. I agree w/your assessment of the silk tier cami. Bad. I thin part of the problem is the construction. The way they did the tiers. The material is thin, wrinkly. I pre-ordered, so it will be going back when it arrives. The plum is such a pretty color, though.

  13. Huh, I am surprised that you both disliked the silk tier cami, gigi and Mrs. Jenner. I purchased it last week and have already worn it a couple of times. I think it's going to look great under a cardigan as well. ITA that the tiers are very thin but I think it ads a delicate touch. I wonder if we are talking about the same item? The one I have is style #18934.

  14. Thanks so much for posting those pics of the new catalog! I'm debating whether to visit Easton tomorrow or wait until Thursday (a SA at Polaris said their new arrivals would be out later in the week too but I can't remember which day). While I love the photos, nothing is really grabbing me either -- except the Navy Schoolboy Blazer! I'm just afraid I'd look like an actual schoolboy when wearing it -- what would you wear it with?

  15. I am still fixated on so much in J.Crew's current catelog - I'm sure a whole new one will send me into sensory overload!

  16. I need the inside scoop on getting catalogs early. Please let me in on the secret. I see alot about JCA perks (early catalogs, discounts..), what is this? I want in.

    P.S. Just discovered this blog recently and am a little obsessed. Thank you for such a fun read.

  17. I just posted two new (er, new to me) items I found at my local B&M over the weekend -- a slub cotton flower print tee and a heavy wool/cashmere cardigan. I'm sure everyone else will be seeing these same items when they visit the stores tomorrow. :)

  18. So is the Mia skirt what we've been calling the double serge in other threads? Is it the same as last year's double serge wool?

  19. Saw the Mia skirt in grey pearl, cinnamon stick, and fresh purple at my local J. Crew store. The skirt is beautiful in color and material. Want to buy the skirt in grey pearl and fresh purple. The quality of the fabric is lovely. I loved the yellow peacoat featured in the new catalog. Can't wait to see it IRL. Thank you, JCBELLEMARIE for giving us something to drool over!

  21. okay, i'm clearly in the minority here, but i was pleased with the fit of the tiered cami! the solid colors did nothing for me, but i grabbed the printed one which somehow looked like an entirely different top! it fit me TTS (i took it in a 2)--i am tall (nearly 5'9"), but somewhat of a short torso, and the tiers hit me in just the right spot. i didn't feel or look pregnant or notice any bulging...i thought it gave just the right of flowiness without being overwhelming or boxy. it is a bit on the long side (falls to about my hip bone), but i expected it to be and envisioned it with skinny jeans and a shrunken blazer or boyfriend cardi. who knows..maybe the printed version has a slightly different cut then the solid?

  22. Pulled the trigger on the cashmere boquet cardi today, as only 2 were left in my size!

    Also pulled the trigger on some Rachel Leigh jewelry... 30% off on the website with: DCLOVESRL0909

    Picked up 2 Audrey bangles and a "hippie chic" necklace to try..Only downside is that you can only do an exchange/merch credit, but I couldn't resist...I wish JCrew would do that with final sale!!

  23. Roxy - My mind still has the gorgeous image from the Lookbook. The cami looks nothing like that irl. I was expecting more of a charmeuse or weighted silk. This silk is more chiffon-y and floaty. Not at all what I pictured. I tried to adjust my expectations because I heard it was not charmeuse, but I still wasn't excited in person.

  24. I uploaded the whole thing to my blog if anyone is interested in more fall!

  25. So is the Mia the same as the Perfect Pencil?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Hey Desert Flower,

    RE the new Mia (pencil?) skirt, the receipt lists it as "Vintage Double Serge Mia Pencil Skirt". It looks v. similar to the catalogue photo (thanks again jcbellemaire) describing it as the "Perfect Pencil" skirt. Most esp the colour options. Although they are slightly tweedy/ heathered IRL. It looks like the B&M version & the catalogue skirts are one & the same. A great relief to me as I'm usually a petite :}

    I went home & made a few comparisons last night. Here's what I found:

    While the weave & weight of fabric is almost identical... Mia is longer & more tailored than last years double serge. A reg2 Mia is about 3 inches longer than my p6 serge. ***Yep you read those sizes correctly - vanity sizing has struck again** Also, the waistband is a little wider & sits higher on the torso. There is a more noticeable curve in the shape from waist to hip. However, the skirt tapers to about the same hem width. Neither have pockets. Lastly, the front & back darts are top-stitched on the Mia & less detailed on the double serge. From what I've seen in last year's catalogues, the Mia colours are softer & more muted than the double serge; russet cinnamon instead of poppy red, soft plum instead of bright blue etc.

    I did make a few comparisons with the classic herringbone pencil skirt from fall. However, I think most folks have at least one double serge in their closet, so I've held off on including that here.

    Sorry for the looong post. We covered some if in earlier in the "Extra 20% Off Final Sale & Free Shipping on $150+" post if you want to know more. HTH

  27. Whhoops!

    I meant to say "we covered some of it earlier" in that last sentence ^.

    Sorry 'bout that folks. I guess I should go get some more coffee :}

    Hope y'all are finding plenty to love in this new catalogue!

  28. FYI for any of you in the Polaris/Easton vicinity -- they both claim they don't have the catalog yet. "Tomorrow" they say. I cry foul! I bet they already have it but they just aren't putting it out yet. I went to both over my lunch break today just to get my hands on a catalog....no luck. *sigh* I still came home with a couple more things, but you know, it's the principle of the thing.

  29. I went into the J. Crew store today and browsed through all of the new items for September, and to be honest, I wasn't impressed. I only picked up a flower tissue tee. Hopefully the next set of new clothes will be better. I found everything to be pretty bland.

    ReplyDelete
  30. has anyone tried on the new mia skirt? Does it fit similar to the denim pencil skirt, in stores? Also, is the only difference between regular and petite the length of the skirt?
    thanks!

  31. I second Lacey on the relative blandness of the collection; the only standout piece to me is actually the new men's flannel, and in part because it reminds me of Engineered Garments pieces. I'd love a new blazer, esp. a boyfriend one, or a tuxedo shirt, but they're out of my price range at the moment. I will be getting a MacAlister boot - so great they finally mad women's sizes!
