J.Crew Email: Pretty, polished and perfectly of the moment.

"Thanks!" to many of you, including Marietta, who shared with us an email J.Crew sent today.

J.Crew is reminding us that there is a new stand-alone shoe & accessories catalog: Objects of Desire (click here to view the catalog). J.Crew's homepage (shown in the image below), currently features a slide show of selected looks from that catalog (click here).
This is the third stand alone catalog offered by J.Crew (refer to this July 29th post "J.Crew Jewelry & Accessories {here to stay!}"). The email also states on the bottom: "To request your copy of our new shoe & accessory catalog, call 800 562 0258".

Lastly, the email reminds us that new Fall arrivals are available for purchase (click here).

Side Note: In regards to the outfit of the model in the email... woah! Could there be any more layers?!? ;)

What are your thoughts on the latest shoe & accessory catalog? Are you planning to call J.Crew for a copy? Do you think they will send one if you do call? ;) Thoughts on the outfit in the email J.Crew sent (in terms of the styling and layers)?

  1. I definitely want a catalog in my grubby little hands. I like online, but I still crave the paper. I promised I'll recycle it when I'm done...which may be never! So many pretties in the catalog...

  2. I received the catalog in the mail last week. It was okay but everything was stuff I had already seen in stores or online. Now that I've moved I'm seriously worried I'll never get another J Crew catalog since I've heard people complaining about not receiving them.

  3. I found a hidden item on the site ... it's the Kelsey ruffle top, item 19064. Click here.

I like the colors, but not so much the design. Always fun to find hidden stuff though :)

  4. Not many accessories that catch my eye but I like the puffer coat with belt on page 11 and I would totally buy the sweater on page 12. Can't seem to find either for sale on the site. Maybe in a later release.

lilaccupcake, that shirt is over the top in the ruffles category. The side view reminds me of dinosaurs with the huge bone collar. A bit too much IMHO.

  5. I received a catalog. Has anyone mentioned the 'one of a kind' Pink Passion necklace? According to JCrew there is only one in existence - and it can be yours for $795. I wonder who will end up with this necklace? How many times will it (or can it) be purchased and returned?

Oh, I found a hidden item too! I searched on 'sock' and
    Cordova shearling boots Item 12359
came back as part of the results. It looks like they added more colors than last year.

  6. Cashmere ruffled henley is also hidden-it looks like last year's tartine sweater-search under ruffles.

  7. Oooh, I ordered that Cordova shearling boot this summer as a popback with 20% off and free shipping. It was "waitlisted". I better not get J.SCREWED and it not become available and then have them think I'll order it FP now!!!

  8. Thank you for mentioning the OTT layering.

I'm having flashbacks of high school in the 1980s.

  9. I ordered the Cordova boots last year and returned them. They are lined with shearling except for the toe, which seemed odd to me as that is where feet get cold first. I also found the sole to lack any support and the ties weren't effective holding the shaft of the boot together when trying them with a few outfits at home. They seemed rather sloppy to me.

That said, I do recall that Slastena reviewed them on her blog and she quite liked them so it's a matter of personal preference.

  10. Good morning everyone!

IRL: I made that necklace into a post: J.Crew Accessory: One of a Kind Necklace {sold} . Wowsa! That's one necklace! ;)

HeidiG: I like a physical copy of the catalog too. Something about the colors on the page... It's beautiful. :)

Summerilla: Congrats on the catalog being sent so quickly! :)

LilicCupcake & Shulvr: I saw that top too. I like ruffles, but not on that top so much. I might change my mind when I see it in person of course! ;)

Raina: LOL! The layering is a bit too much! ;)

maryamjan: Thanks for the heads up on the sweater! :)

Pamela: {fingers crossed} I hope you get your item! :)

  11. I also got my "Objects of Desire" catalog on Saturday -- which is funny, because I'd emailed my online PS earlier in the day and she responded that she wasn't sure if the catalog was available because it was a limited run.

And wow, layers layers layers! And me, I get uncomfortable if my blazers are a little tight with a button down underneath. A button down under another button down under a cardigan -- good golly! Just looks uncomfortable to me!

  12. I haven't gotten the catalog, but like HeidiG, I would love to get a paper copy...I also will recycle, but will probably just keep it for reference ;)

Lilac cupcake: I was thinking the same thing when I saw the Kelsey shirt...love the plum raisin, but all the ruffles would make me top heavy. I wonder how many more items are hidden...

  13. I am anxiously awaiting my Objects of Desire catalog in the mail. Looking online just doesn't compare to seeing it in print or IRL. :)

  14. ShuLvr-I love the belted puffer coat too! If you go to the online catalog and flip to the page with the puffer coat on it, click on the coat! For some reason when you search for the coat on the site or under the outerwear section it's not there. But when you click on it through the online catalog you are able to purchase it! :) HTH!!

  15. Please, enough with the knock-kneed pigeon-toed poses! The model in the lace skirt looks like a first-grader trying not to wet her pants.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Sarah - thank you! I tried clicking on the sweater and it didn't come up, I didn't even try with the puffer. Looks like it is not available to ship for a week or so, but I'm going to order anyway since I won't be wearing it for a while yet. Looks so warm for those dark days of winter.

  17. Hexicon, I had exactly the same thought!!

Anyone know how the Beatrice driving shoes from last year fit? Did you size down? I have every color in similar style (can't remember the name) but they have a D-ring buckle off to the side on the top instead of that ring in the middle and I had to go down a whole size. TIA :)

  18. Off topic--I just returned from my local store (Greensboro, NC) and am appalled at the service. Very unhelpful and rude --I left without purchasing anything ... and I won't be going back any time soon! Usually the salespeople are very friendly and helpful but not today! (sorry but I just had to vent)

  19. OMG, how did I do that? I said I wanted a catalog and it appeared in my mailbox today. {off to buy a lottery ticket...]

  20. I'd never noticed the minaudiere before the "Objects of Desire" email. The snakeskin version is out of my price range (and carrying dead snake freaks me out anyway) but I found the silver and gold in the FS section. I think I'll use my rewards card towards one of those colors. Does anyone own a J Crew minaudiere? How do you feel about it? Thanks!

  21. The Pitone is item # 18339 and the metallic leather is # 14666.

Sorry I forgot to include those item numbers in the first post!

  22. If we're banning looks, can we *please* also ban the vapid "mouth half-open" look? Gads it's unattractive. The model on p. 50 of the Sept. catalogue looks like she'd need careful directions on how to button her coat. Try a smile!

  23. La Belle Helene: Well, the coat is double-breasted. (heehee...) :)

Off-topic, but whilst doing some searches for random words (fun past-time that requires almost no energy), I spied this:
Peacock-print silk Emma dress was $145.00 select colors $119.99 item 85834.

There appears to be only one and in a size 10, so if you want this dress (I have heard some people wished they would have bought it when it was for sale originally)...

Hope that helps someone out there...

  24. I signed myself up for catalogs using my DH's name. Hopefully it will work! I love to look through them for inspiration!

  26. got the catalog as well. Not to impressed. Like everyone else stated, I've seen everything online already. The only thing I'm intrested in is the Jules pearlized patent heels. But I'm waiting for a good sale.

  27. Last night I spent about three hours going through my old J. Crew catalogs, trying to decide which fall season was the best. I decided Fall 2005 was the best, even though it was 2004 that pulled me in with all the British inspired jackets. 2005 had the most adorable shoes and jackets. I would love to have J. Crew poll customers on their site for what items they would like to see returned.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Laura: OMG. I love the Fall 2005 season of J. Crew. The best part was the London catalog...TDF. :) I wish I still had that catalog!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Oh, I *adored* London, too. I still love & wear the tweed items I got that fall - particularly a golden tweed skirt with a frayed edge. I also have a bucket hat in the material, and a fantastic bejeweled & be-feathered clutch.

Of course, it won't come as a surprise that for me, the supreme fall catalogue was 2007 in Paris. If that cat. was re-released this fall, I'd buy more from it all over again than the current one :-)

    ReplyDelete
  30. p.s., Laura - that idea about a poll is fabulous. Maybe we could have it on here instead?

    ReplyDelete
  31. I would be all for a poll. Looking at those catalogs, I bought a LOT, and still wish I had bought more. They had a lot more tweed, they had a lot more in the way of jewel box shoes, tweed coats, cashmere blazers (at only $395 and $495!) I have one of those cashmere jackets from Fall 2004 and there was a reddish pink tweed Lexi jacket from 2005 that I planned to buy until poof, it was gone. All the jackets had rep tie trimming, great quality, looking at those catalogs reminded me it was not my imagination. Those seasons were better. And I should have bought the green tweed Greenwich coat too, what was I thinking? And all the shoes, give me suede tassels, kiltie heels, and suede with ribbon trimming, tweed midheels with bows, I loved all those shoes.

  32. ShuLuvr, Alexis, love2shop: Yes, those ruffles are just too much. I also love the plum raisin color, but NOT the clown collar :P We'll see how it shapes up later on.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I got the accessories catalog today in the mail, and was totally surprised! It's very lovely, and makes me excited for fall so I can wear my tights + heels again! And the Colleen rose flats? Yum!

    ReplyDelete
  34. I still have JCrew catalogs dating back to 2001. The London 2005 one is great. I just looked through all mine last week:)So much better quality and nicer clothes in the past. I am really bored right now.

  35. I think some of the late-comers would have to see those scanned pages in order to vote. If they are like me--they would LOVE to see the past catalogs!!
