Madewell Email: Our latest Ex

A big "thanks!" to Marietta & HeidiG, who shared the following email/ promotion from Madewell (click here).

The email features their Ex-Boyfriend Shorts. The shorts are described as "just like the pair of his that you coveted- but without the heartache" and retails for $95.

Moreover, they are offering 15% off purchases for students at their stores. To redeem the promotion, just show your student ID.

What are your thoughts on the Ex-Boyfriend Jeans? Do you like or dislike the style? Would you pay $95 for them?

  1. I'm wondering if I'm the only person who finds these jeans completely unflattering! I don't understand why you would want something that doesn't fit properly before you even bring it home. Let alone the idea of wearing my boyfriend (or ex-boyfriend's) jeans. For one thing, they wouldn't fit! Maybe I'm just in the minority -- the more of these Madewell emails I receive the more glad I am there isn't a Madewell nearby. Denim leggings? Ex-boyfriend jeans? Not sure who the target market is, but I'm quite definitely sure it isn't me. Pass Pass Pass.

  2. I'm right there with you RatsOnParade! Not loving these jeans at all. I thought it was interesting how they highlighted the student discount since there's been so much discussion about it at J Crew. I will admit that I haven't tried any of the boyfriend jeans, but I can't really imagine that they would be that flattering on me. And that denim leggings email...ugh, seriously??

  3. Madewell can't decide if it wants to be Emo (denim leggings), preppy (ubiquitous scarves) or grunge (ex-boyfriend jeans). I like the scarves I've seen but that is about it.

  4. Totally agree with RatsOnParade.

I'm tired of jeans trends in general. I've decided to buy what looks good on me and my arse and what makes me happy as opposed to what someone else deems as the latest trend that I must have to be fashionable.
