This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)
If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available in the Summer sale, or to see some new Fall arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!
Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)
P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

I would be interested in hearing comments about the quality on this years cashmere sweaters if anyone has tried any on yet.
ReplyDeleteI am going shopping today to look for the Francis shirt and the plum pencil skirt.
ReplyDeleteI purchased one of the hydrangea blue cashmere cardis and it definitely looks better than the sweaters I tried last year. Many of those looked shopworn right out of the package. The cardi, however is going back as the color is not quite white I expected and that is too much money for something I don't love (and I am still a little scared about the quality).
I stopped into the Polaris store last night to pick up a catalog, but I didn't see any of the pencil skirts. :( Almost bought the rooster tee but manged to hold back.
ReplyDeleteI'll be swinging by the B&M to check out the perfect pencil skirt & frances cami..I haven't been in a few weeks (purposefully, as I tend to spend too much time and leave with more items that I'm not necessarily psyched about), so I'm excited to see the fall rollout in person!
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to the Frances striped shirt, printed antique ruffle top, and downtown denim trousers.
ReplyDeleteThe cashmere looks okay to me. It is really whether it pills quickly or not. I have cashmere long sleeve tees from 07 I wore on a plane to Australia that look really pretty good after dry cleaning and wonder if these will hold up as well. The classic cardis feel a bit more plush i.e. back to normal vs for example the argyle one I bought (and returned) last year that was pretty thin. I am disappointed though that they still have not started to routinely back the placket with grosgrain ribbon like they used to. Am interested in the fit of some of the new styles eg Darling with ruffle neck that just came out. Remeber last year some of the cute looking sweaters turned out to be a fit disaster. Anyone who orders maybe can post....?
ReplyDeleteSorry - I know I didn't really say much. I would say, as mentioned above, for those who can't get to a store, some of the colors are not as they appear in the catalog IRL. Eg the dusty blossom looks weird and not very nice I noticed in the catalog and yet is pretty in real life depending on your skin tone. Also agree the heathered hydrangea color (which is pretty)didn't photograph the same.
Just received email on all the new. Gorgeous, sequined deco top already sold out at $495. Silk brulee tank is really nice too. Love all the embellished tanks and tees for layering.
ReplyDeleteI'll most likely be heading to the Asheville, NC store on Saturday to take back some items and check out the new arrivals in person. Anyone from the area know if they have a lot in stock? Any good sales going on?
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI am definitely planning a trip sometime tomorrow. I can't wait to try on all the new jackets and tops! I am especially excited for the wool ruffle jacket, but apparently the rosebud red is online only! I hate when they do that.
ReplyDeleteI just posted some pictures of the newest arrivals on my blog.
Since they have been raising the prices steadily over the years, I tend to only buy non-sale JC if it is a petite.
ReplyDeleteI went to the store last night and the purple velvet of the new jacket is beautiful. I just can't pull the trigger without some sort of sale.
Last fall, they did a % off for regular items at some point. THAT's what I want!!
I am way excited to go to Tysons this Sunday for the fab shopping event 3-PP & AnneG organized for us! I haven't been to a B&M since J(gasp) July, so I can't wait to see the fall rollout in person!!
ReplyDeleteMCC,
ReplyDeleteThanks. I just checked out your blog. So sad to hear that your silk flowers tank came with a hole in it! Yikes. I have been there many a time receiving holes in my JCrew NEW clothing! What gives??? I continue to shop JCrew despite the holes but I don't get this? Cheap labor?
I ordered the same silk flower tank in two colors. I hope mine don't have holes:)
I'm going to NYC to tonight and hope to stop by jcrew collection or the new crewcuts store at some point! Do they have all colors of the Lexi and campo out? anyone been to the crewcuts store?
ReplyDeleteSo, last night was the Brea shop & share event and I was able to try on some of the new items. I loved the pencil skirt (I sized down), but would like to try in a petite due to length. The frances striped shirt was nice and not as fitted as my perfect shirts. I tried the mohair souffle cardigan, but it was just too thin and sheer. I liked the Nox sweater jacket, but worry about the Dream material and how long it would hold up since it's very soft. The silk tiered cami looked okay, I sized down and it was fine. I wish they would steam the wrinkles off since all of them were badly shaped. I may get it when it goes on sale.
ReplyDeleteI ended getting the downtown field jacket in mossy brown, cadet cardigan, slub cotton embroidered tee (one with black flowers), paisley tee (one with dark charcoal stamp) and ordered the primrose cami, ribboned collier tee, and the maya cardigan since they were sold out in my size.
I wanted to try the Professor blazer, but of course they didn't carry it.
Sale section was picked over and nothing much left. A bunch of Cafe capris in black, british khaki in larger sizes.
There are Havona tanks, sizes 2-14 online in the sale section, $89.99
ReplyDeleteI have 3 items in my shopping cart. They are all from the sale site but nothing shows up final sale as I move through the check out process. Is there a way to know if they are going to end up marked as FS when I get them? I have a size question on one and am trying to avoid getting stuck with a top that doesn't fit. Thanks
ReplyDeletecrewcrazy, I would print off each screen. I ordered several pair of sale pants. It only showed one as final sale on the order summary. When I received the package, the invoice in there showed only one as final sale as well. The two non-final sale ones were not a good fit for me and I took them back last night. I think you are safe.
ReplyDeleteHi all,
ReplyDeleteI definitely plan on going to a B&M this weekend. As I've mentioned (perhaps too often?) I bought 2 Mia pencil skirts last week. I intend to go & exchange them for petite sizes. Red phone, here I come!
Crewcrazy did you try calling directly? Sometimes, if you're lucky, jcrew will do a "one time only" courtesy by placing a note on an order allowing a return of FS items. Well, at least they used too. It's been a while since I've braved FS for anything that wasn't a (nearly) sure thing.
Jcmama, so glad to hear that you had a good time at the Brea B&M. I had sent an email encouraging a colleague (& fellow JCA) to attend. Unfortunately, she's at a conference this week. Hope y'all had a great time. Did they allow you to apply the discount to a phone order for the petite skirts? I'd really like to read a review comparing the sizing w the reg skirts.
I hope everyone gets a chance to see some fab fall clothes this weekend,
Heather:D
The two JCs in Austin (BCS and Domain) both have a fair amount of fall items. I specifically sought out the evening primrose cardi and the ocelot print one. I was diappointed in both....kind of thin and cheap looking for $88+ even though I like the prints. I'd like to see the silk evening primrose tank , perhaps paired with the maya cardi in deep amber....but they didn't have the tank.
ReplyDeleteI have made it to two different stores and I tried on a bunch of stuff.
ReplyDeleteI am big busted, yet short waisted so I can be hard to fit. The schoolboy blazer was long and didn't hit me in the waist. A petite might work (I usually take a petite in jackets). I bought and returned the purple Eden after deciding it was not flattering. The Frances fit terribly, as did the Victoria and Elizabeth, plus more ruffles on top of a big chest is just a nay. The Maya also sat weirdly on my chest.
I loved the pencil skirt. I thought it was very well made. I bought the Ocelot cardi. I love merino cardis, even better than cashmere. I'm better with something lighter weight, and hey they are cheaper.
I liked the corsage t (better for me than AT Loft's).
I like the green cascading ruffles cardi. I will watch for that on sale.
And for some reason I am lemming the neon pink skinny belt.
OT - but just saw in the sale section they have the Havona tank in ALL sizes availabe for $89.99.
ReplyDeleteoops! Just saw Marietta already posted re: the Havonas :)
ReplyDeleteI went last night and left with the Ocelot cardigan and a grey/white striped l/s t with epaulets.
ReplyDeleteI was dying to try on the Winne jacket, which they had in navy. It was beyond adorable on the hanger but when I tried it on it ran huge, I'm usually a 6 and even the 4 was too big. They didn't have a 2 and I think overall the style isn't fitted enough for me so I passed. However I'm hoping that they'll come out with more outerwear with military details later this year.
boston - thanks for the heads-up on the Winnie b/c that is my MUST-HAVE.
ReplyDeleteI *wanted* to go to my B&M but don't think that is going to happen...
O/T question: how do I avoid losing my online cart? When I signed in to jc.com today the contents of my cart were gone! I"ve been playing for months and had just added a tone of fall to watch! I didn't clear my internet history or anything, btw. Any thoughts from more experienced JCAs?
Hi AppGal!
ReplyDeleteWill you report back on whether or not they have the Perfect Pencil skirt at the Asheville store? If so I will send my mom over to pick me up one with her rewards card. She is nice enough to let me spend it :)
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteGoldCoastGal, a couple of months ago, I also just realized the practice by jcrew of charging credit card first then gift/reward card. It is annoying ...
ReplyDeleteI noticed that the silver lace skirt finally showed up on the website and is already sold out. I loved the look of the lace skirt from the look book (and Town and Country) so I bought three lace skirts on ebay (one old J Crew, one Ann Taylor and one AT Loft). They look almost exactly like the new skirt and cost me less than $100 for all three (all are in perfect condition too). If you like the look, it is easy to replicate for a lot less.
ReplyDeleteReviews of Fall Items:
ReplyDeleteSo, I ventured into the B & M today; this is what I tried on..
Perfect Pencil Skirt- All sold out in a size 0!! In all colors! I needed to size down from my usu JCrew pants size (2), as with the watercolor & cocodrillo pencil skirts. They are def a heavier weight (and lined), a fall and not late-summer item
Minne Pants- No no no. At least on me. Fit me like leggings-- too much *not* left to the imagination-- I don't like my co-workers to know the location of all the bumps and curves on my hips and thighs. And I'm not even pear-shaped, for that matter. I tried sizing up, but too big in the upper thighs and still clingy.
Toothpick cords- Also a nay--I couldn't even pull my regular JCrew cords/jeans size up over my calves!! And I don't consider myself large-calved (plus I am 5'7", 130 lbs). A size up was too big in the waist/hips and *still* skin tight in the calves (at least they fit over them..)
Frances cami- For me, too much ruffle. Looks well made, though. On a sidenote, I tried on a zero and a 2, and the 0 was bigger than the 2!! Considerably! Probably an anomaly, but beware..
There were also some cute necklaces, long sleeve ruffle shirts, and a multitude of other items that I didn't try on.
All in all, a bit disappointed, but my wallet is fat and happy : )
Em: Absolutely! What size/color are you looking for in particular? If you want, I can just email you the info if you let me know what your email is...
ReplyDeleteSo, I couldn't wait anymore and had to check out the new arrivals today, and Kendra, I'm so glad to hear I'm not the only one who can NOT wear the Minnie pants or toothpick anything! I am the same size as you, a pound, ok, maybe two pounds :) heavier and those pants were worse than awful on me. I echo your sentiments exactly on the fit. I'm sticking with the matchsticks, thank you!
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of which, the matchstick jeans in the dark rinse wash, fit great, don't stretch out, are a super nice dark, almost black looking denim, and with the short length at 31" need no hemming! These came home with me!
I also tried:
Destroyed matchstick jeans- fit great, not too tight, not too baggy, super comfy, casual look is fun to mix with dressier pieces, does not stretch out. Overall awesome! Be careful though of bending at the knees deeply as there is additional "ripping" that may occur! Runs TTS.
The Winnie Jacket in Navy - it's substantial in weight, would definitely keep you warm! In fitted blazers I would take a 6 (broad shoulders) but in this jacket the cut is not as fitted, more of a swingy A-line so I went down to a 4. The gold buttons have a nice nautical detail to them and the collar pops up if you like that look. If I didn't live in such a warm climate, this would be a must-have for sure!
Frances stripe ruffled tuxedo shirt - wanted to love this but it was too sheer for me. Much like the Geo print of the cotton/silk Frances cami, I would have to wear a nude cami under and the idea of wearing "two" shirts makes me sweat! (I'm in Florida). Definitely could see this looking gorgeous under a jacket or cardi with a pencil skirt and heels! Fits TTS.
Solid Stretch Long Sleeve Classic Shirt - great white shirt, super for layering or on it's own. Took a medium in this, again, broad shoulders.
Silk brulee tank - tried in dark charcoal, which imo, is the best looking of the colors available in this tank. Sort of a rehash of the rolling ruffles with a similar fit, big, big, big, recommend sizing down in this one. Some have mentioned ruffles in the tummy area as undesireable but I kind of think they help to hide any tummy issues. Not so cute on the hanger but after seeing it on Gigi had to try it and I think it's pretty cute on, not $44 cute but on-sale cute for sure!
Dream Shawl Cardigan - tried in black, kinda soft but kinda itchy too and very boxy, just sort of hangs there, didn't do much for me. Runs large.
Dream cadet funnelneck sweater - more love for this sweater, soft, different with the buttons and epaulets, overall great, although if you have ruffles or something with embellishment on underneath, they show through. Tried on in ivory, sized up to medium.
Slub cotton embroidered flowers tee - sized up to medium but I like my tees a little loose and for shrinkage. Great transitional piece, looks cute under various cardigans and blazers.
Long sherpa hoodie - soft, super comfy and cozy, super casual, need I say more?!
And various other cute graphic and embellished tees! But I've now put myself and all of you to sleep so it's time to shut up! Thanks for reading my mini novel!
ugh...in NY it is 90 degrees and 75% humidity. I can't even THINK of putting anythign cashmere or wool on my body right now. I'm waiting until September when hopefully I'm in more of a fall mood. Who knows, maybe by then some of the older fall arrivals will be marked down and I can actually wear them, rather than spending full price on something that will sit in my closet for a month!
ReplyDeleteOT-
ReplyDeleteI have the Belle satchel in blush pink. Just received it in online FS order. It's a little too small for me, as I love HUGE bags. New, with tags. I'm offering it for $215 shipped, or $200 in person at Sunday's JCA event @ Tysons.

All these reviews are so helpful! Thanks for posting, everyone! :)
ReplyDeleteIf you're in Texas, they do have tax free weekend when ordering from the website.
ReplyDeleteAppGal: Awesome, thanks! My e-mail is emilyeeg@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteLooking for size 4 in the cinnamon stick or fresh plum.
Help with sizing! Ladies, I apologize that this is OT but I wasn't sure where to post. I have been hunting around for a pair of the Fleur Suede Peep Toe heels from last fall (the open toe ones with the little satin rosette at the toe...they were later found at TJ MAXX in early winter). I am almost always an 8.5 in J. Crew heels (and my foot is on the wide side). However, I have heard these run big. Does anyone out there have them? Can you share you sizing/fit experience with me? Should I stick with my 8.5 or size down to an 8? Thank you in advance for any help you can provide. Have a great day!
ReplyDelete^^if you don't want to clog up the post with answers to this, please feel free to email about the Fleur heels at jenn_clark25 at hotmail dot com
ReplyDeletethanks again!
RE: the order your gift or credit card is charged.
ReplyDeleteGoldCoastGal & Anonymous, when I use a gift card online I enter the gift card details first and it deducts the total gift card amount from the balance of my order. If I have more than one gift card I enter the second gift card info, again without supplying my credit card info until I have entered all the gift cards and it keeps deducting the gift card amounts from the order total. When I run out of gift card $ I enter my credit card and it is charged the remaining amount.
Maybe that is what you are doing too but when I enter the cards in that order it always takes only the remaining amount from my credit card and if the gift card credit is more than the total then I don't need to enter credit card info at all.
RE: losing your cart.
ReplyDeleteMommydearest, whenever I sign in, my cart is emptied when I go back. If I know I'm going to sign in to do a mock checkout (to see if a promo code works), or just pare down the cart for an actual purchase I copy the contents of the fully-loaded cart and email it to myself via hotmail. It's an easy workaround and when I view the email I can actually click on the "change" link for items in the email and it will bring up the item page on JCrew.com, which is great.
I haven't found a way to keep items in my cart following sign in so hope this helps a little.
J.Crew, you really need a wishlist feature!!
For those who have tried the Winnie coat IRL, can you comment on the back seam or is it a pleat? Online it looks like a seam and it is crooked. I wonder if it is actually a pleat, part of the design to give it some swing. It just looks odd.

ReplyDeleteI was doing the same with my cards. The problem is just jcrew sometimes cancels items or a couple of items in my order could be waitlisted. In those cases, jcrew also charges your credit card first and leaves canceled amount to your gift card. That is usually not what a customer wants to do.
ReplyDeleteI'll definitely be going to J. Crew this weekend.
ReplyDeleteI'm in a sticky situation, and I'm wondering whether anyone has experienced something similar. I planned to purchase the merino 4-pocket cardigan (item #16638) from my local store. As the sweater was discounted online (from $78 to $39.99), the sales associate was going to match the price.
When the sales associate went to the website on Thursday, he couldn't find the sweater. It doesn't even show up when you use the "search by item number" function. However, I can see the old web pages (and price) when I search through Google.
As the sweater was available for purchase in 5 or 6 of the 7 colors, I think it's unlikely that it sold out from Tuesday to Thursday. Are items typically or temporarily removed from the website after a sale? I've never experienced this before, and I would greatly appreciate anyone's advice.
^DEFINITELY--they have them--these are off and on the site and the exact thing happened to me!
ReplyDeleteooh...ladies, there are some really cute things at the stores right now. Just got back from the a-ville store and took lots of pics, which I'll get up on my blog SOON!
ReplyDeletebtw...Em--you've got mail!
xoxo, regarding the winnie, it is a pleat, not a hard seam, actually I tink the term is vent, in this a case a back vent! hth!
ReplyDeleteJust back from my b&m. Tried on the satin-trim tee in rose - liked the tee but not the color on me. I will watch for this to get marked down. It fit TTS. Tried on ruched v-neck tee and didn't like it at all. Sized up one. Tried on the silk tiered cami and liked, both by itself and with a cardi (twilight stripe v-neck cardi ). It fit TTS. I wanted to try on the long sleeve swirling flowers tee, but they didn't have it. Tried on jersey ruffle neck dress - very frumpy on me. Probably could have sized down, but didn't want to even see it. :)
ReplyDeleteI bought the toothpick jeans (finally!), paisley button up in gray, plum, and gold, purple prism necklace (don't see online), and a tee for my nephew. I pre-ordered the silk tiered cami 2 weeks ago and waiting for it to ship. I will eventually buy the twilight stripe cardi to wear with it. It's way too hot here to even think about any kind of cardi, plus it's been out awhile so I'm hoping for a markdown before the weather would allow it.
Okay, pics of new fall arrivals are now up on my blog. Hope it's helpful for some of you!
ReplyDeleteWas in Georgetown today to try on the new arrivals. The new mia/double serge pencils are all gone so DC ladies you might want to try the other DC area stores or online unless they are hiding some in the back! I love love love the plum and cinammon stick colors as I saw these in person a week ago in Crystal City's J.Crew.
ReplyDeleteThere were a few of the Michelle O' Blush tweeds left. These fit about the same size as the mia in length, are super silky soft and I am 5'6. LOVED this skirt but my size was not available so I will buy later online.
There were some gorgeous patterned perfect shirts in lovely fall colors. I also tried the button down slim stretch shirts in a plum, dark plum/maroon, the rust orange, and a deep dark blue and these were stunning colors and perfect for work and J.Crew suiting (I'm blonde and fair skinned and these work better on me then the dusty blossom pastel colors which wash me out).
Lots of jewelry. I really recommend people try these on in person and not just buy online as some of it is over the top and others are to die for.
Lots of embellished T's, cords, and cashmere out. Cashmere is super soft and pretty.
I tried on the Wool Chimera jacket and the Wool Triomph jacket. These were gorgeous on the hanger but fit kinda boxy on me and they fit high on the hip. I was sooo sad because I love the styles of these jackets. The school-boy blazers look better and fit lower on the hip and would be good for the office.
Went today to return the mia skirt because it's on its way to me in petite & to pick up the September catalog.
ReplyDeleteAm disappointed to see the cat. isn't set anywhere, like Paris in 2007 or Prague last year, but I'm guessing this is a reflection on how bad of a year it's been for j.crew. Also no pictures with the luminous blonde model who was the main model from the Paris shoot - a woman who exuded joie de vivre, IMO, as opposed to vapidly pouting models being used now.
Is the schoolboy blazer the successor to Bella & Ecole, I wonder? I may end up ordering the petite charcoal, but I really wish I could try it on in stores. Why can't j.crew even put just some of their petite clothes (which aren't many) in stores?
I wish the puffer vest was offered in fresh plum - love, love, love that color. In fact, I wish a lot more items were offered in that color. I think I might really like the tweed collier jacket (hard to tell based only on pictures), but I am not really a papaya fan (only of the real thing, anyway).
I had to go to Anthro to do a return so while at the mall I ran by J.Crew. The Tucson store only had limited colors of some of the items. I saw the new double serge skirt in the cinnamon and navy colors. I liked the Maya cardigan but they did not have black. The sale section was very small. The perfect-fit tanks were on promo for $14.50. Not much to report, I know. The store was dead compared to Anthro.
ReplyDeleteThose of you who have bought or are buying the fresh plum pencil skirt, what will you be wearing with it? I need styling and color ideas.
ReplyDeleteShuLvr,
ReplyDeleteThanks! It is ridiculous that they don't have a way to save items. I am going to email CS right now! :)
Any one seen the tweed collier jacket in the stores? I haven't bought anything yet and thinking of splurging on this one item. Can you believe it's sold out in a size 0 online? Let me know and I will see if they will ship it to me! Thanks!
ReplyDeletepriya cherry, i saw the tweed collier at the fifth ave store in nyc today (212 255 4848)--didn't check sizes though...sorry!
ReplyDeletealso, does anyone know what skirt is being shown on the product page for the fishnet anklets? i'm not interested in the anklets but the skirt is very pretty--don't see it elsewhere on the site though!
Ashely,
ReplyDeleteI noticed the same thing! Looks like the pulled the sweater off the site...it was there with plenty of inventory and then all of a sudden it disappeared. I'm sure it'll eventually pop back, just keep checking.
To give a different opinion on the Minnie pant, I'm very fond of mine and found them quite flattering. This was a bit of a surprise as I do have saddlebag issues and usually JC pants accentuate rather than hide--Minnie skimmed over my thighs nicely. I bought Minnies in my "real" size, i.e., one size larger than the JC vanity size I wear in other items, and I found that they stretch out quite a bit when worn--I may SD if I buy a second pair.
ReplyDeleteLa Belle Helene, I second you on missing the vibrant model from Paris and other JC catalogs. I believe that her name is Vanessa. While I wouldn't buy or not buy based only on the model, previous JC catalogs have done a better job of projecting the happy, vital sense of individuality that I associate with JC. With the exception of the Asian girl I think the current JC models look vapid and artificially "fashion-y."
Finally, has anyone purchased one of the mohair cardis? I know another poster said it reminded her of her dad's 60s sweaters . . . and that's exactly why I want one, lol. I've heard that they are too thin and loosely woven. And is there a difference between the souffle and cotton candy?
Thanks Stefanie! I will call them today!
ReplyDeleteI didn't buy a mohair cardi, although I may at some point down the line. I have tried one on, and found it to be soft. There is a negative that I noticed yesterday. They had them hanging around and the knit shirts underneath were covered with "hair!" So, plan to wear a blouse or shirt and not a knit, unless you don't mind the shedding showing.
ReplyDeletePriya Cherry, call CS and ask them to do a WWFIFY for you, since it is sold out in 0 online. I think they might be willing to do this? This will save you some time and hassle. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteHi Jennifer, I sized down on the suede fleur peep toes after reading others comments. I'm usually a size 6 1/2 and went with 6 for the peep toes.
ReplyDeleteHi Ashley, that did happen to me and I actually requested the SA to call red phone to double check. The SA over the red phone can tell the SA in the store the current online selling price whether or not the item is still available online. Maybe you should try that next time. Good luck!
Priya Cherry- I was at the NYC fifth ave store yesterday and tried on the tweed collier jacket (sorry - I don't recall if they have size 0 but they had quite a few). I tried on my usual size 6 but found it a bit big. I tried on size 4 and that looked better. Maybe it's that the tweed and details make it look bulky so I prefer it to fit as close as possible. I also found the back of the jacket to puff out on both sizes. I think it is because of the band around the bottom. Overall, I liked the jacket but will probably wait to see if it goes on sale. I wasn't able to resist buying the matching tweed pencil skirt though. I absolutely love how the jc pencil skirts fit me and this tweed is beautiful! If the fifth ave store doesn't have the jacket in size 0 you could also try the collection store on Madison Ave - I was there yesterday too and saw them there as well.
ReplyDeleteI wanted to try the Winnie jacket but it is so hot in NYC right now and the dressing rooms were so warm at the fifth ave store that I just couldn't bring myself to try it on. I was sweating as it was and was trying things on as fast as I could. I know this heat and humidity in NYC only lasts about a month but one would think that jc would try to keep the dressing rooms as cool as possible!?
I saw the wool pencil skirt in rosebud (item 17228) in the Madison Ave collections store. I never noticed it on the website but this skirt is gorgeous in person! The fabric is quite scratchy but it's lined so I don't think that would be a problem. I already bought the tweed pencil skirt so thought I shouldn't splurge on this one too. I also saw the Jules pearlized patent flats and heels which didn't give a second thought when seeing them online but are beautiful in person.
Stefanie-
ReplyDeleteThe skirt that you asked about (pictured in the fishet ankle pic) - I saw it in the Paramus Garden State Plaza store in NJ. I was there on Friday and when I walked past it, I remember thinking "I haven't seen that online or in the catalog". But this store is a concept store so they get things earlier than other stores or even before they are online. I bought the olive top there about a month ago.
Thanks bugpin, Pakcola, and Jean for the advice. My sales associate offered to match the price (with no hassle, I might add).
ReplyDeleteMy cart has been emptied before (usually after a sale). It actually happened to me just a few days ago. When I went back to the website a couple hours later, my cart had returned! I never sign in when filling up my cart. Crazily enough, I've had greater success that way. My cart was also filled with tissue tees (items I'm imagining the company has lots of and is trying to get rid of). That may also be a factor. I thoroughly agree that J. Crew needs a wish list feature.
For those of you have ever pre-ordered an item, how long does it take to ship after it shows up online? I pre-ordered the silk tiered tank and tried it on yesterday so I know I want it and I'm just wondering how long it will take. Should I call CS or wait? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteStefanie/MN2NY -- Thanks so much for letting me know about the 5th avenue store -- they had it in a 0 and are going to ship it to me!
ReplyDeleteMN2NY -- Thanks so much for the review!! I'm crossing my fingers that it fits because I can't go any smaller :) If not, I think I will definitely try the skirt -- I love the colors...
Cory -- Thanks for the WWFIFY suggestion -- I'll have to remember that for next time!
priya cherry, so glad that the 5th ave store had it for you! i made yet another pit stop at the prince st., nyc shop today and ended up buying the tweed collier myself! priya, the 0 was sold out there so glad 5th ave had if for you! i thought it ran fairly true to size actually--i generally am between a 2 and 4...tried on both and ended up taking a 2 but put the 4 on hold and i think i'm going to go back and switch! the 2 fits just fine but i'm quite tall and long limbed and i think if i try and layer a sweater under the jacket it will feel too tight in the arms...since i spend the greater part of my day shuttling around a 1 yr old, i prefer the extra room!
ReplyDeleteMN2NY--thanks for the anklet page skirt scoop! i'm not familiar with the concept store--is this where they do trial runs with certain items and if they're a hit, they go mainstream?? that skirt looks like something i'd like--i hope it hits nyc or the web soon!
Did anyone try on the Ethereal Cardigan? I bought one in a medium this weekend but when I tried it on at home my bf asked me if I had shrunken it in the wash! Not exactly the reaction I was hoping for. ;)
ReplyDeleteMath Teacher,
ReplyDeleteI didn’t place a preorder this Fall, but when I preordered a Dazzling-dots Pencil Skirt, it came before J.Crew uploaded this item online. On the other hand, when I preordered a Cascade flower jacket, it didn’t come after it showed up online. Waiting for a couple of days, I called CS and found J.Crew didn’t process my preorder at all. I couldn’t reorder one in my size because all sold out.
You may want to call CS to make sure if your order is processed properly. Even in the worst case, you can still place an order once again. HTH & I hope you will get your item soon!
Naomi - thanks. I'll call them tomorrow when I get home from school.
ReplyDeleteMath Teacher: I left an answer to your ? on my blog...but just in case you didn't see it...here was my answer...
ReplyDeleteMath Teacher: I did receive the order confirmation for the tiered cami in papaya and the liberty top. I think I will get them this week.
I wish we could have gotten them first because we ordered so early, but sigh, I guess not! ;)
Good luck...hope you get it soon!
Roxy -- I tried the ethereal cardigan at the store a week or so ago and loved the fit and the look. I really liked the rust color as well. But, I was disappointed in the button holes -- I know it sounds silly, but for at least the one I tried, the holes were too big for the top 2/3 buttons and they wouldn't stay hooked. So, I let it go. I decided to buy the copper merino cardigan instead....
ReplyDeleteHmm...thanks Priya Cherry. I think I might take this back and exchange it for a different cardi.

ReplyDeletejmpb - thanks for the info on the Winnie jacket. The vent would definitely add some swing. Reminds me of the Dani peacoat from the Paris catalog, which I have and love.
ReplyDeleteFor those who have seen the blushed tweed pencil skirt IRL, does it have the gold braid in it like the trim on the jacket? Is there any metallic thread in the tweed at all?
TIA
I've tried the ethereal merino cardi and what I did not like about it was that the ruffle did not lay right. It was not nearly as structured as it appears in the product pictures; rather, it seemed kind of floppy. I have another cardi from WHBM that has a ruffle like the ethereal cardi that I got last spring, and the ruffle is a constant pain to keep from going underneath the placket. Memories of that experience are what prompted me to return the ethereal cardi.
ReplyDeletedinagideon - thanks. I emailed them and if they haven't emailed back by the time I get home today, I'll call. I could have bought it Saturday with 20% off, but didn't b/c I pre-ordered it. (Which I mentioned in my email.)

ReplyDeleteThe the blushed tweed pencil skirt does not have the gold braid in it or any metallic thread in it.

From my understanding, the concept store in Paramus gets items in earlier than other stores and based on how they do, determines stock in other stores. I don't think it's that items there never make it to other stores. Also, I was told that at that store, they take pictures of how to dress the mannequins and then send them to the other stores. Someone correct me if I am wrong but that is my understanding. I do know they get some items there before other stores!
Has anyone seen/tried the wool twill studio pant? I ordered them yesterday...they look so nice online, hope they're as good in person.
ReplyDeleteI received the tweed jacket today -- talk about fast shipping! Unfortunately, I'm going to return it -- it's cute, but I don't love it for $325. I really though this would be my fall coat, but it's a little loose around the waist...also, I'm not sure I like the gold chain weaving. Oh well!
ReplyDeleteSo, I'm going to keep the tweed skirt and going try the Burgundy cami -- looks very pretty.
