"Thanks!" to many of you, including Caitlin, WellFedFred, & iroar (in this post), as well as JCrewJD, who shared the following (& disappointing) update from J.Crew this morning.
J.Crew is running an offer for 40% off all final sale items (no min) and free shipping (no min!) with promo code LOVEIT. This offer expires today, Tuesday, July 26, 2011. (As stated in the image below.)
So why is it no longer available on JCrew.com? The sale section (click here to shop online) has a new image (as shown in the image at the top of the post) that removes any mention of the current promotion. Instead there is a new free shipping (on $175+) with promo code SHIP175 that expires Tuesday, August 2, 2011.
Now here's the weird part: the LOVEIT code still works!!! I just tried it on a mock checkout and sure enough it took off 40% and provided free shipping. So why is J.Crew trying to hide it?
Oh J.Crew! I really love this promo. It brought me back to shopping online. But removing it so it looks like it ended is weird. It's shady.
Did you notice that LOVEIT disappeared at JCrew.com? Will you be checking out the Sale section? Are there any items you are hoping to see or to get?
Alexis,
ReplyDeleteDid you get my email?
I tried it too with a pair of the cafe trousers which are on promo, and it still worked. Well for those of us savvy JCAs this is not an issue because we remember the original offer said it ended Tuesday at 11:59, and of course we have this wonderful blog! Too bad there is nothing left in the sale section.
ReplyDeleteI did not order anything from this sale but it is very strange they took it off already on the sale page! Glad to know it still works for others:)
ReplyDeleteI had finally convinced my husband to take advantage of the promo to buy some suit pants on sale and they took it away! But the code still worked ;-).
ReplyDeleteWell, I knew it -- I've started receiving the 'news about your j crew order' emails. I knew it'd happen, since I hadn't received any communication from them following the order confirmation emails.
ReplyDeleteLady lace popover sold out in gray. *cries* And I'd been so excited to score it for $54! I expect I will hear more of the same soon about other items.
I did place one last order under the wire this morning for the ruched harbour paisley one-piece. I thought it might be good tummy camouflage, lol.
I had the cotton cady Aveline dress in my cart to wear to a friend's wedding this fall, but i ended up not biting because i'm concerned that the neckline is too low and also that the fit might be weird. I couldn't find any info online re: fit, and if the waist is high, that would be a dealbreaker.
Subscribing. :)
ReplyDeleteMillJCrew: I haven't checked yet. I have been a bit behind since Yahoo Mail switched to Yahoo Mail Beta- it keeps crashing on my computer and iPad. So I have not been checking it as much. I will check now. :)
ReplyDeleteSo bugged...got up at 5:30 and wanted to buy a belt that had popped back, but only saw the $175 free ship min. and passed (not wanting to pay $20 more than I would have had to yesterday). I thought that I had somehow misread that the promo ended today and now the belt is gone. Seriously...what gives?
ReplyDeleteHas anyone's orders from early Saturday morning shipped yet? My status still says "Released/Open"...
ReplyDeleteElaine sorry to hear about your orders :(
I just checked my yahoo mail and there is a side banner in green advertising LOVEIT and 40% off sale items at JCrew online so it is still being promoted/shown elsewhere online. The code still works.
ReplyDeleteTippy - mine haven't yet been shipped. My order from Friday shipped yesterday so I expect Saturday will ship today.
ReplyDeleteStalked the website this whole promo and visited 4 B&Ms looking for the Shrunken Fisherman Sweater in Beechwood and no luck...wah! :(
ReplyDeleteBy chance has anyone seen them in their area in XS or S? Perhaps I could call the store and have it shipped. Huge thanks to anyone who can help!!!
Beyond the Blue - I spotted the Shrunken Fisherman in Small at the Dallas Galleria JCrew on Friday, not sure if they would still have it but maybe it's worth a shot!
ReplyDeleteBeyondtheBlue, call the Raleigh, NC b&m. They had stacks of them last week, but that was before the 40% promo hit. Good luck!
ReplyDelete@Beyondtheblue: Also try the Ridgeland, MS store. Last week, they had a few and they were all XS and S.
ReplyDeleteI used the LOVEIT code and ordered a suit. The total was about $100! Great deal J Crew! A pair of shoes that I ordered yesterday has already shipped and will be here tomorrow...super fast!! I've been pissy with JC for a while but this might make me fall back in love again. :)
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear the Loveit code still works. It's terribly deceptive of them to change it before the previously stated deadline.
ReplyDeleteI'm considering buying one or two of the new items and I definitely want the free ship with no min. Otherwise, forget it.
Free shipping on $175 is not a promo as far as I'm concerned.
I'm kind of happy they changed the promo banner on the website before it ended. Now I don't have to guess what promo is coming next! I used the LOVEIT code today for some full price items that did not total $175, but I was able to get free shipping with the code.
ReplyDeleteIt would be better if they had both promos on the banner though, so people who are not JCAs would be aware of the LOVEIT promo that is still in effect.
I placed several orders since the promo began, and they have been shipping them. The ones placed on sat r on their way to my house. I believe they were shipped out yesterday. I'm sorry to hear bout jcrew canceling orders. If only they can improve their inventory control, we wouldn't need yo go through the frustration and disappointment! It has happened to me a couple of times.....!
ReplyDeleteBoo, I just got a cancel for one of the new wool skirts, that I ordered first thing in the morning when it popped up. I have to assume they'll get many more in, but it's just annoying.
ReplyDeletes.ludlum, Elaine and LauraK,
ReplyDeleteThank you all so much! I struck out at two of the stores, but found my XS at the Ridgeland, MS store! I have to pay $8.00 shipping, but hey, I bet I paid more than that in gas looking at B&Ms this weekend! You guys are terrific...thank you again!!!
I just ordered a t-shirt and it worked!
ReplyDeleteI haven't been to my b&m jcrew, but I would really like to buy a new swimsuit online! I've never had a jcrew swimsuit and would love if any of you awesome jca's would help with the sizing! i'm a 34B up top and wear a size 0 in the jcrew 3" chinos (I love these and have several pairs now!)
ReplyDeleteAnyone willing to help a clueless bathing-suit-shopper?
I got the Nicola heels and the black lace blouson dress.
ReplyDeleteGood job, BtB! You will loooooove it. I cannot wait until it gets cool enough here to wear it!
ReplyDeletePatty: I normally buy small in the top and xs in the bottom. I'm a 32b, and I opted for small top to get more coverage. I findthe xs way too revealing. Most top are ties at the back and. The bottom is kore true to size. Size 0 or 00, should fit with xs bottom. Small is a bit loose. Hope this helps.

ReplyDeleteTippy - I'm still waiting for 2 orders I placed on Thursday and Friday! Just received one of those 'news about your JCrew order' emails, too. They cancelled my petite medium gingham perfect shirt in artillery fatigue - grrrr! Now expected to ship 8/2 - I re-ordered it. By the time they ship my other orders, they'll probably arrive the same time as that shirt!
ReplyDeleteMJ and elseejay-glad to know I'm not alone but the variability in shipping is so bizarre because I think I read in this thread that someone else will be receiving their order from Saturday today!? I placed an order on Thursday morning (way earlier than I'd like to admit) and it is arriving today. Fingers crossed that everyone gets their orders and items that they actually ordered :)
ReplyDeleteOk, and this is a bit random but during the last promotion my friend and I placed orders at pretty much the same exact moment and mine shipped out two days earlier than hers. It ended up that they shiped out of different locations (one in VA, I think, and the other in NJ). Not sure if that has anything to do with the weird shipping times/date?!
ReplyDeleteNaughty naughty, JCrew! Glad to know LOVEIT still works (thanks, JCAs!) - I sure needed it!
ReplyDeleteChiming with what others have already said; the LOVEIT code is still working as of 10AM PST. Broke down and got the black lace popover...I think the grey is so pretty and the black will still see lots of use. With final sale, I'm sticking to those items where different color versions are in my closet already, or I've tried in-store.
ReplyDeleteI think it was Thursday or Friday early AM (bouts of insomina lately) where I found all kinds of random stuff: buffalo check jacket, peacoats, minnetonka mocs, nickleby for $19.99 pre-promo...I would have gone crazy but we're thinking of a new car :) so I let it pass. Truth is, unless it's something that was completely gone from the website it wasn't that much of a huge savings for me, even with 40%+free shipping. We had ordered basics with the previous promo and I did an adjustment and the 5 items that went down in price would have saved me about $50...
Items that were ordered on early Saturday AM have a shipping confirmation for me. A phone PS over the weekend told me that they had a skeleton crew working the warehouse over the weekend, but expect lots of shipping notifications to go out Monday (yesterday) and today. If you are worried, you can always call CS and they can give status updates. I had something hang as "Releasable" for two days, and it turns out it was due to a backorder on a crewcuts item.
audball - my lace dress also has the 'releasable' status because it is on back order until September.
ReplyDeleteThe heels I ordered on Friday were shipped on Saturday morning. That has to be a new record for me.
I love JCA!!!!
ReplyDeleteI purchased the Corsa Tote. I can't wait to get it! JCREW should have the 40% promo more often...but I highly doubt it!!!
ReplyDeleteHI Elaine, I tried the Cotton Cady Aveline in two sizes and HATED it on me. It was low cut but the worst part was that it poofed in the abdomen and made me look pregnant and was WAY too short. I would not chance it on final sale.
ReplyDeleteHi audball, would you recommend the crewcuts pants for an active little girl? Do they hold up and fit true to size? Thanks for any info. anyone.
ReplyDeleteAn order I placed at 9:23am on Friday shipped at 11pm that same day. I was pretty impressed! And, it was delivered today. My other order from Friday is being delivered tomorrow. Since moving to NY, J.Crew shipping times have decreased significantly for me.
ReplyDeleteAnother JCA who used the "loveit" code for an order of 5-in chino shorts in african violet (I am OBSESSED with this color!) - and I got free shipping, even though my order only totaled to $45! So excited to wear these shorts!
ReplyDeleteShekster, I really like Crewcuts bottoms for my four-year-old. She's tall and thin, and it seems their pants are cut longer and leaner (in the waist) than other children's brands (like gap or Gymboree). We've tried the cords and chinos. The cotton bubble-type bloomers are another story. A lot of her tees have become hole-ridden, but the pants are sturdy and well-made.
ReplyDeleteLOVEIT still worked for me this afternoon. Had one order cancel from friday but my saturday order has shipped. Yay!
ReplyDeleteI second what heather said. The pants for crewcuts are fine and durable but the tees in general are just as prone to holes as the womens. Funny thing though, the boys shirts and tees are great!
ReplyDeleteThanks Elaine! It has been hot here too, but northern Michigan has many more days that require a sweater than not, so it will get lots of wear eventually! :)
ReplyDelete@Shekster, I tried the moto-pants w/zippers for my daughter last year and they were FAB! They held up amazing and she wore them a ton. She's very thin, and they fit her great. I will say I didn't have such great luck w/the tops, unfortunately. I also got leggings and a dress for her that are in good shape, but not worn all that often. HTH!
ReplyDeleteThank you Shekster! That's exactly what I was afraid of. Did you try on the Mirabel dress in-store? I had the same issue, which made me so sad because it's a gorgeous dress.
ReplyDeleteGlad I didn't waste my money, phewf!
re: ship times -- I usually get mine crazy fast here in NC since Lynchburg is so close by. not so this time. it makes me worry that more items will be sold out before my orders ship. the universe is keeping my money in check! lol,
I am still stymied as to why the Cassis print Liberty swimwear was all wiped off the face of the earth. I wonder if it will reappear tomorrow....
Any reviews on the Quorra peep-toe booties?:) TIA!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter has plenty of Crewcuts. I love their dresses (she is a girlie girl) in printed cotton (non knit) and washable silk (irregularly patterned, flowers, ect, to hide some spots). They are good quality and quite sophisticated without looking like teenage-wear (my daughter is 8 now). One of the unexpected hits was heavier beige cardigan with some subtle sparkle and chiffon trim (!). Also, kids version of last year's vine blazer. You would not believe how many times this was washed and worn. We have plenty of swimwear and tees, both very cute but not durable. I have to check out the pants based on your comments.
ReplyDeleteMegCrew, I've had the opposite experience with boys tees--my son's tees were full of holes less than two months after purchase.
ReplyDeleteI think crewcuts stuff is really cute, but for durability, I shop Target.
Thanks to JCA's I ordered a couple more things this morning with the code, and it worked! Just a cute crewcuts swimsuit, and a headband, but I am so excited to have gotten them together for 19.99 and free shipping!
ReplyDeleteShekster, I have had good luck with Crewcuts jeans for my daughter. She is on the medium large side, but that is what the adjustable waist is for! I think they look super-cute on her tush, and have held up well. Some of the darker jeans fade on the knees, but I am not sure that can be helped. I also LOVED some tan shorts we got her last year- so classic, and she wore them all the time looking smashing! Have never tried leggings, or cords for her. She was always in crewcuts skirts before, but refused to wear them now (at 5 years). As others have said, the slub cotton shirts are way too easy to get holey. I wash them by hand, and have her wear them for more special occasions (Out, not playing in the back yard) because they are so stinkin cute on her! Some of the dresses are very good quality, and others not so much. Depends on the material, mostly...
I shop on sale and promo, but Crewcuts still tend to be mostly special-occasion outfits at my house ... for durability, but also for fabric care. I have a hard enough time keeping my own embellished tees etc. handwashed (even if it says machine wash, don't try it), ironed, and free of snags and holes, let alone my kids!
ReplyDeleteShekster: Sorry I didn't respond earlier, but I'm so glad others chimed in with their opinions on Crewcuts. My DD is big into skirts (with leggings during the cooler months), so we haven't tried too many pants. I do agree with others that they seem to flatter the longer, leaner kids. That being said, DD's skirts (she's 9 now and has been wearing a combo of crewcuts, boden, gap, olive juice kids and tar-jay since she was tiny) have always held up well - and we wear and wash them a lot! Her pants tend to be from Boden, but DS has JC shorts and they have been terrific.
ReplyDeleteI do love their ribbed city tee leggings. These things are made of iron! We discovered them when she was 5 (and she is very rough on clothes!) and we're on our 3rd set. We buy the basics every year (navy, black, white) and they are well worth the non-sale price. DD has some sensory issues, so fit and comfort are really important and these are the only ones that cut it during the cooler months. I order them slightly larger and it lasts a good 2 seasons and in good enough shape to pass on to friends with younger kiddos.
As for shirts, I totally agree with other JCAs...the slub cotton shirts can develop holes quickly, but we just rotate with the more durable gap/target tees. They are so soft though and she loves all the special "collection" ones we get on sale.
DS lives in his crewcut shirts. They are hands-down his favorite and he actually goes so far as to not engage in super rough play when he has his favorite (slub) tees on...And he's 7! Weird huh? :)
Rose: My "Releasable" order was the one that shipped! :)
I got my first 40off order today.
ReplyDeleteI really like the Knit Military Blazer. It fit perfect and I've been looking something like this for a while. $40 awesome.
Maretime Blazer in Vintage Fatigue. Love the color and fit, except the sleeves are so long. I called to return, and I ended up reordering to try again.
Linen Cape Cardigan. Oh, lord I don't know how I'm going to make this work. I sized down, as others suggested. The problem is the arm hole is so low, that I can barely move my arms. This is the most non-functional item I have ever bought.
Linen Bermuda Shorts fit smaller in the booty than the other shorts of their type and their is no give with Linen. Disappointed.
Also received the Linen Tessa Top, which I knew what I was getting there. No defects that I can see.
Sabrina Slub Cardigan. One of the winners of the bunch. That and the Knit blazer. The Sweet Orchid is very pretty and complimentary to my Olive Skin tone.
Shekster: I forgot to add that the crewcuts dresses (the cotton "play" dresses) are another basic in DD's wardrobe. We buy one size bigger when they go on sale and they hold up really well. I still haven't found styles I love as much as crewcuts dresses and those that I do like from other vendors are *because* they look like crewcuts dresses :D And we have a Hanna (Andersson) outlet and flagship store within 10 miles of us and *still* choose crewcuts. HA is more durable, but as DD grows, I found some of the styles more suited for younger kids.
ReplyDelete@beyondtheblue: I'm so glad it worked out. I actually went in at lunch and tried it on because you got me thinking about it. But in MS, I don't have that many opportunities to wear a sweater.
ReplyDeleteI do have to say, the sales associates at my store are the nicest. They're putting some stuff on hold for me all week so I can buy it this weekend because MS is having a sales tax holiday this weekend.
Still working @ 11:22 pm EST Tue night. I saved $165 on two cashmere sweaters, thank you for the post!
ReplyDeleteAccording to the 40% promotion, it specified it was going on through Tues. Strange that they took it down before that time.
ReplyDeleteWhen I called about a problem with my received order, they had no problem sending out a replacement at no charge.
I have real life pics of suede Mossy Oak Collins on my blog. They are very neutral in natural light :)
ReplyDeletelolita.lee.love
Also, I highly. Highly. Highly. recommend suede Collins with this promo. An absolute steal for a comfortable, cute, and beautiful shoe!
ReplyDelete2am on the 27th and the code still works!! $120 off--thanks, J Crew :)

ReplyDeleteLauraK: Thanks again for your kind help! It is funny that you say that about sweaters in MS...the nice SA who I spoke with said pretty much the same thing, that they don't sell many sweaters since you can't wear them there till almost December! I do hope you get lots of goodies this weekend during the tax holiday! :)

ReplyDelete@wolfy, thanks for the review of your order. cant wait to get mine. how is the fit of the knit military blazer, is it TTS . would it work for a curvy gal?
ReplyDeleteLily Bart,
ReplyDeleteThe Knit Military Blazer, fit TTS and to a T. Length sleeves and such are perfect. I am also a curvy girl, but I love it.
The only issue I saw was that the black seemed to have a few edgings that had a look like someone ironed it and left a bit of scorch. If that makes sense. It must be something from the manufacturing. It's not too bad and it doesn't standout with the hugged military knit look. Hopefully it will dull.
I'm returning the Linen Cape Cardigan. I would be curious to see if I bought my regular size, I would actually have full range of motion in my arms. Sized down, I can't move my arms much.
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone for the help with the crewcuts clothes. I am trying the leggings and some cute cotton dresses. I had a feeling the t-shirts would be flimsy or not hold up. I love that most of the really cute styles are even machine washable. Thanks again!
ReplyDeleteHi Elaine, I bought the Mirabel dress that is like a shift cut straight across and it fit me fine. But, the Paradisa one with the thin straps and v-neck was no go!
ReplyDeletewolfy, thank you. iam going to try to get it on the next promo.
ReplyDelete40% is still going on in the stores but they are wiped out with final sale. I did some damage with some fall arrivals, though. :)
ReplyDeleteOnly 30% off FS in the SF Bay Area Stores. I've checked most, no 40 off.
ReplyDeleteArgh, I just got two pairs of Nicola heels, so cute, and I ordered the wrong size. For some reason my brain didn't register that 8h means 8 1/2. I have toffee and the weathered green. Would anyone want to trade for an 8 or 71/2? Email Amy.s.h at hotmail dot com
ReplyDeleteposted this is the "looking to love" section as well but i got jcrew cs to apply the 40$ off promo to the knit military jacket today. as a one time courtesy as i complained about the inventory pop ups. yay!
ReplyDeletei have 3 packages coming tomorrow and 3 next week. lets hope it all fits.
