Seriously, a round of applause for J.Crew. This is a FAB-ulous promotion. Really great move J.Crew to move out your inventory. Yey! I have not purchased anything online for a good month now because the stores were running better promos (and even then, I wasn't getting too much.) Well today I bought something in the wee hours of the morning because this deal is too good to pass up.
Will you be checking out the Sale section? Are there any items you are hoping to see or to get?
This really is a great promo!! I was able to get some long wishlisted items for which I knew I'd only pay sale price. Love that it was a free ship with no min too! I noticed some watch straps that came down to $3 after I submitted my order, so it was great to be able to throw down another order for just those.
ReplyDeleteYes this is a great promo if you are certain of what you want!
ReplyDeleteA great time to pick up some cashmere tee's for example, I ordered one in blue I've been wanting for some time.
sub
ReplyDeleteI ordered a few perfect stretch shirts and the Leslie lace shell (but I got the promo, not final sale). Happy with the prices
ReplyDeleteWow, things are flying out of the sale section!
ReplyDeleteI bought a few things. I would have bought more if Canada Post was offered as a shipping option. The other shipping options charge too much for duty. :-(
sub
ReplyDeleteAnd I caved; there was no reason for me not to pick up two more Super 120s bell skirts; I already have one, and for less than $40 dollars, they are basics in my work wardrobe!
ReplyDeleteAwesome promo! Stuff was disappearing out of my cart as I was adding them. Oh well, I'm not too concerned as I have my eye on the fall collection and want to keep some money aside for that. I picked up a few things that I have had my eye on for a while like the shortcut sweater and the heather lace shell.
ReplyDeleteGrabbed a Jackie shell and cardigan but that was it. Only like $40 though, so quite the bargain! If they really wanted to clear out inventory, this was the way to do it.
ReplyDeleteOf course I just placed a sale order yesterday with the free ship/no min promo ... ugh ...
ReplyDeleteDitto, the best promo since I have been a loyal customer 9 mths ago! I am still a bit hesistant to order some items such as shoes, pants and dresses bc wo trying and the option to return. I don't think the sale section will be updated in the next few days. I didn't notice much added this morning.
ReplyDeleteI just bought the floral swing skirt for $60 and a factory tweed skirt for $18. This has got to be the best sale ever. :]
ReplyDeleteThis is a great promo.. it's about time!
ReplyDeleteWowee! Took a chance on the nicolas, a few reed, a blythe, 2 more bistro pants all for 128 :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great deal! Got a blazer, cords, and Blythe blouse for a steal, and I haven't purchased anything in months. Wish they'd have 40% off more often.
ReplyDelete* tees
ReplyDeleteI don't plan to purchase any of the sale items, but did place an order yesterday for the No.2 pencil skirt in Viridian Green and the Ladies' Calf Hair Watch Strap . Both items are waitlisted until August, but that's ok because I wouldn't wear them now anyways. :)
ReplyDeleteWow! This promo runs till Tuesday of next week. Hope there are massive updates over the weekend :> I picked up the cropped matchsticks, some tees for my son, and the Lilibeth flats for $16 (!) all for under $100. Contemplating more.....
ReplyDeleteKDot I hear you on the duty, but with the 40% you really can't go wrong.
ReplyDeleteDid I need anything? Nope. Did I buy, yeap. I'm a sucker for a good sale.
Another fleece and a tie.
Reminds me of the good old days when they used to have promos like this; HOWEVER, like FFM I am not buying. I have read GigiofCA and other posts about receiving totally wrong and/or damaged items and just not wanting to hassle with that this late in the season. Glad others found some great buys:)If it was not the dreaded final sale I might be willing to try but holding fast to my "never buy final sale again."
ReplyDeletepathos -- I got the Lillbeth sandals too. I thought it was a price mistake!
ReplyDeleteThe perfect fit tees are 12.00 and 14.00 before 40%....I can recommend the 3/4 sleeve boatneck (buttons on the shoulders), and the henley with silk ruffle placket. I purchased, like 10, on the last 30% promo in multiple colors. Fit is flattering, and they wash up really nice.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteI'm eyeing the silk Blythe blouse in olive, but I'm concerned about the sleeves possibly being too tight. Maybe I'll luck out and Easton will have it for me to try on at lunch...Ugh, I already spent so much money this month with vacation, at the farmers market, and J Crew. If I pick anything up, it's going to have to work for fall too.
ReplyDeleteAfter deciding I/we (3 daughters) had already scooped up enough from the sale section, I did bite on a cashmere tee and a sequin skirt! Def. the best promo in a very long time!
ReplyDelete(original) Genny - I still have to return the incorrect items they sent me. If I didn't have so many stores close by, I would be very perturbed. It's still a pain anyway because they tend to screw up when I have no interest or plans to go to the store. I physically go instead of mailing in since I pass stores regularly. Anyway, I hear you being final sale shy!
ReplyDeletePathos - I second you on the perfect-fit ruffle henley. Love it.
I haven't noticed a huge number of cuts so far this week. A few had the usual $10 drop or $.01 adjustment to final sale. What I saw I noted at the top of this post.
Hi, can someone please comment on the Avanelle wedge sandals?
ReplyDeleteTWO QUESTIONS:
ReplyDelete1) Does J Crew one piece swim run small? I would say I am a size 6/8 top, 10 bottom and am thinking of ordering a 12 one piece?
2)If I ordered things online the last promo can I redorder them now? The receipt says return within 60 days from the sheet in the box - is that the case? I know they are tricky...
Thanks JCAs!
I'm really glad that the promo is good through Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteI'm West Coast so I saw this promo last night and I just couldn't bite. I could have had a good deal on some jeans. It's been over a month since my last order and it has been so nice to not always have that stack of returns to go back.
ReplyDeleteKatherine,
ReplyDeleteIMO JCrew one pieces run true to size. I am an 8 on top and I buy an 8 in all my JCrew one piece suits from 2007-2010. However, I have not bought one this year. I wear an 8 or 10 on bottom.
GigiofCA,
ReplyDeleteI know I got so fed up returning wrong items and I could not get to a store (none near me) when this was happening. I was not charged for using the return label but it still made it a hassle.
Kristen,
I hear you! So nice not to have a stack of returns sitting on my dining room table! I need a break too.
Great promo though! Yeah to JCrew for offering it:0
I agree that final sale is annoying, but at this point in the season, I'm ok with it if I have tried on something and am sure about sizing, and/or if it's something I bought previously and love, but can now get at a much deeper discount.
ReplyDeleteAny reviews of the Cashmere Isabel Sweatshirt? TIA :)
ReplyDeleteI'm tempted to buy more, but the higher price online and the disappointing quality are discouraging me. Those basic tees and top all developed holes and got lint balls all over after just one wear. Yes 40% off couldn't justify the fact that I can only wear once or twice
ReplyDeleteHas anyone tried the Merkato Sandals or the Wyatt Buckle Sandals (both flat)? I have been looking for flat sandals and I tried the Lillibeth but they absolutely killed my feet - was wondering if either of these might be better? TIA!
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone own the schoolboy blazer in herringbone? reviews?
ReplyDeleteI bit. ugh..haha. The shirt I have been wanting wasn't there, but since they still had the 3 in. chinos in modern red, I finally got them. I haven't seen them in stores in a while and I live in those chinos.
ReplyDeleteThe free shipping is what finally did it for me...yay for J.Crew for that!
Now...what the heck to wear with that color besides white..:)
Sharon -- I have the herringbone blazer. It's very cute, but a word of warning -- the arms are itchy b/c of the material. I've been ok with it, as I'm not too sensitive and I roll up the sleeves, but it might be an issue.
ReplyDeleteTXgirl14: Navy blue looks great with Modern Red and so does Cobalt blue. :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't bought anything from J Crew in over six months, but this is a great promo and I couldn't resist. I got my son about four pairs of pants and three sweaters for me: the Fisherman's sweater, featherweight cashmere in the green, and cashmere cardi in alabaster. I figured they were good staple pieces and although final sale made me nervous on the pants (what if they don't fit him?) I figured it was worth the risk.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know if the perfect-fit boatneck tees (#36529) are running TTS? I have a couple from last fall in my usual small and they're pretty tight compared to previous versions. TIA!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great promo, JC.
ReplyDeletePicked up the Lucca suede sandals in mango, which I'd returned a couple of months ago because they were too bright for frequent wear at FP less 20%. Now they are priced right for occasional wear at <$100! Also scored a few watchbands. As for the clothes....fageddaboudit if it's something I haven't already tried on and it's final sale!
Looking forward to my August catalog when/if it shows up.
Kate- re: perfect fit tees. I ordered the same size I had in my closet from last year. Fit is the same as far as I can tell. (them throwing the xxs in this year threw me off, but indeed, I ordered my same size and didn't size down.) HTH!
ReplyDeleteCaitlin-I would bet the Merkato will feel the same. They are basically a piece of leather, no padding. Kind of irksome about JCrew sandals as they are all that way.
KDot: I concur about the Canada Post as a shipping option.
ReplyDeleteI caved and got the Nicola heels. At under $40 I can take a risk.
Thanks FFM! I have a lot of cobalt blue..that is one of my staple colors. :)
ReplyDeleteLOVING J.Crew CS (Christy) for the first time in ages. Of course, I placed a sale order yesterday for about $500 of merch. I was kicking myself when I saw the extra 40% off this morning. I called CS and with no real problem, they price adjusted everything!! I am sitting here in shock. Off to spend that credit - those deals are unbelievable! :)
ReplyDeleteSomething REALLY important to know for the sale; not everything is final sale! Only items ending with .99 are final sale; everything else in the sale section can be returned to the store or online.
ReplyDeleteHope this helps (sigh; for me it may have just encouraged MORE shopping!)
Thanks Genny!
ReplyDeleteH\I am trying to decide between Silvana and Salina sandals. I am not sure about size (I am 8.5 on wider side). Can someone please comment on how they are and how they fit.
ReplyDeleteThanks!!!
@ mack - Just got the Isabel Cashmere last week and I really love it. I usually wear a small in JC Cashmere and I took my normal size in this one. It fits large, but that is supposed to be the look of it. It is super comfortable, but not as soft as some of my other JC Cashmere. Hope this helps :)
ReplyDeleteWow this is a good one!! I may have to take a chance :)
ReplyDeleteI will not be purchasing this time around, but may try for a price adjustment from an order I placed late last week. I have too many pieces from spring/summer and I saving up for multiple items from the fall collection. I really hope my rewards arrive by Monday...I want to get new blazers...pants...and skirts in gorgeous colors :)
ReplyDeleteHi!! Any reviews on Nicola Platform heels? :)
ReplyDeleteThis is a great promo! Congrats to those who found bargains! I picked up a pair of shorts but that's all.
ReplyDeleteRecently I was cleaning my closets, and so many things in the "donate" pile were FS items that I didn't want or need but grabbed because they were a good deal, so I'm exercising caution and saving my pennies for the fall stuff.
I'm also looking for feedback on the Isabel. Is it worth it?
ReplyDeleteI am hanging my head today. I had sworn off any more shopping until the weather changed but I couldn't resist.
ReplyDeleteMy justification? I honestly haven't bought one pair of shoes in over 3 years (if only I could say that with clothing). I made up for that today and ordered :
Jemaa midheel sandals
Greta canvas wedges / 9 medium / modern red
Silvana sandals / 9 medium / toffee
3 shoes for for the price of one!
I also bought 3 shirts and two belts for $50.00....I couldn't even do that at Target!
I feel like squealing!!!! Okay, I am!
I don't dare share this excitement with anyone else...so glad I have you ladies!
Shekster- I saw the Mirabel dress this morning in white with poppy that you were looking for.....it might pop back if you are still looking to score it.
ReplyDeletepathos and shopwithm, I got those sandals too! For $16, what a deal! I needed black sandals, too. LOVE IT!
ReplyDeleteI keep forgetting that this also applies to the items on promo, which is awesome. Totally getting that tortoise cuff from factory now!
@ Lizzy T - Just posted a review above about the Isabel. I really love it, but it probably isn't for everyone. Definitely more a casual look.
ReplyDeleteHi Ladies,
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking about pulling the trigger on some items. Can anyone share good/bad reviews. I appreciate your feedback!
-Cashmere boyfriend tee
-Sequin fete dress
-Casbah blouse
-Isabel in heather stone
-Stripe swing time sweater
-Lacy Lady Popover
Any "must haves?"
TIA and happy Friday!
JCAs, can anyone comment on the Sequin shell (item 41314)? The color looks interesting, but I can't tell whether it's pale green or more of a cream. If anyone's tried it, let me know. I am one of those unfortunate magpies that can't pass up a good deal on sequins. :)
ReplyDeleteSide note - did anyone else happen to see the new Factory plaid tweed skirt that was available last night? I browsed really quickly before going to bed, but couldn't find it again this morning. Sadness. At a glance, it looked very much like Dauphine-style tweed.
@Lizzy T - AudreyBella and Slastena have posted IRL pics of the Sequin Fete dress. It is absolutely lovely and unique in person. I found the fit to be TTS, and the fabric drapey enough that it didn't add weight by hanging strangely. All of that said, I ended up returning it - I am not crazy about silvery colors on me, and just didn't get the "feeling" (thanks, Gigi!). Good luck!
ReplyDeleteLizzyT: I have the Lady Lace Popover and I love it. It is very well made, the lace is lovely. Looks great with cropped pants and a shirt under, when it gets warm I tie it around my shoulders, prepster style.
ReplyDeleteJCrePhD, I got exactly the same items that you got, the sandals and the factory tortoise cuff. I almost pulled the trigger on the cuff yesterday with the free shipping (it was $22) but today it was $19.50 less 40%. Even if it's factory (which is a hussle to return) I can take a risk on a $11item.
ReplyDeleteLizzy T -- I love my Lady Lace Popover and would have been thrilled to get it at this price. Highly recommend! I ordered the Casbah, as I adore the print and it will pair well with all the greens and blues for the fall. I reviewed it in my blog previously (only con was a bit of shoulder constriction).
ReplyDeletemimi.magnolia -- The skirt is definitely a Dauphine version. I picked it up from the Factory last week for $17.50, crazy! I reviewed on my blog as well.
The pressure was too much. I caved. But I ordered "safe" items that I already have in one color or another and Crewcuts tees for myself that should hold up--*should* being the oprative word.
ReplyDeleteI haven't purchased anything from J Crew in months. However, this promotion is too good to pass up. Does anyone have the shortcut sweater? I'm wondering how it fits.
ReplyDelete@ Tweetle Beetle
ReplyDeleteI have the short cut sweater and think it is SOOO cute - although people have said it pills. I would say it runs TTS as I took my usual XS. I might have been able to size down but I think that defeats the look of the sweater.
HTH!
Can anyone help me track down the name and item number of a cotton taffeta dress that seems to have disappeared off the website? It had a bow detail inset into the neckline, giving it a kind of a bateau neck. Other than the neckline, it was a very simple fitted sheath dress. It came in navy blue, modern red, bright dahlia (?) and white. I am so exhausted, for the life of me, I can't remember the name of the dress, and I was just looking at it 2 days ago!
ReplyDeleteI snatched a Conference Skirt in Linen in the blue color and the Beach Pant, $23.99 each?!? Ok, they are finalt sale, but great price on some things I have liked, but not loved full price. With this awesome promotion, I think I will love these!
ReplyDeletelizzy t, i really enjoy the boyfriend cashmere tee. at this price it's a good buy - it's very soft (i have the yellow color), lightweight but cozy and i felt it was TTS. I wear a S in the jackie cardi (good equalizer here i'd think) and i took a small in the tee. if you want a slouchier fit (the model's is a bit slouchier than mine), then size up.
ReplyDeleteEma: nice! Yeah, for $11... who knows how the cuff will fit/if it will look cheap, but I agree that it's worth the risk. Hoping it's really cute. I LOVE tortoise accessories.
ReplyDeleteLooks like the sandals are all sold out now, even the color that was $69.99
Lizzy T, the lady lace popover is a must-have. It's darling and very well made. I haven't had a chance to wear mine since it's been so hot but it will transition well into fall, I think!
ReplyDeleteTweetle Beetle: I think Ema has the shortcut sweater and it fits TTS. Check out her blog.
ReplyDeleteLouise- I am looking for the SAME dress! I usually take screen shots of my shopping bag as a reminder of style numbers, but didn't on Wed when it got dumped.
ReplyDeleteThanks MegCrew! I have NO will power AT ALL! So, so, ashamed. I got the Jemma midheels. I figured for that low price go for it.
ReplyDeleteI am not getting anything because of Final Sale but I recommend the silk-linen v-neck...http://www.jcrew.com/womens_feature/catalogjcrewcomexclusives/sweaters/PRDOVR~43734/99102355604/ENE~1+2+3+22+4294967294+20~~~20+17+4294967133~90~~~~~~~/43734.jsp
ReplyDeleteTrue to size and the colors are gorgeous.
If you know your size, I recommend the bridesmaids dresses (esp silktricotine). They are often true to size and the online SAs are very helpful if you know your measurements. I wear the silk tricotine ones to work and to events (weddings & parties) So Verstaile.
It must be a sign (or because I'm out of the country) but I tried 3 different browsers this morning, then this afternoon, trying to take advantage of this sale. Furthest I got was Step 2 of the Check Out process. Thank goodness. I'm with Louise, I hate not having Canada Post as a mailing option, UPS charges SO MUCH for brokerage fees. Ah well, was only going to pick up on more (not quite) Perfect Shirts and Jackie Shells. Tempted by the cashmere but just so weary of the dreaded pilling.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know the name of item 42940... it's a collection dress, chiffon, with a multicolor ikat like print and jewels at the neck. It was around $600, summer 2011.
ReplyDeletePathos and Louise, it is the Shelby dress, 46094. I also have been looking at it and for it and I cannot find it online. They must have hiddent it.
ReplyDeleteWOW! Been waiting for this sale. I have J Crew-itis & have been picking up a few finds at JC B&M stores lately. But with this SUPER SALE... I was finally able to get the Silk Casbah blouse- YAY! At such an amazing $$$. Been scoping this one out since it debuted. Also snatched a pair of the Nicola platform heels (actually for my 14 year old daughter- for $38.00- original $$$ $250- ) Almost grabbed me a pair at that $$$ but have so many J Crew shoes- it's almost criminal. Of course grabbed some cute T's for my 8 year old son- one came out to just over $5- total- Wa~HOO!!! And JC has the boys IKAT red tie on this sale- score! Any way you slice it if it's on this sale it's a steal of a deal.
ReplyDeleteNow just need J Crew to put the 'Perfect shirt in wild ikat' on sale- alas always something on my J. Crew Wish List!
I might have the dress name wrong, but I know the item number is right. It was under suiting and also wedding/parties and I tried the link Tamara(Chicago) told me about but it did not work either. They must be hiding it. :(
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone have a review with pictures of the toga dress? I know Gigi mentioned she sized down (two sizes) and it fit nicely. I am tall and pear shaped and really iffy but interested in it, so thanks if you are able to help!
ReplyDeleteLouise, Pathos, and Shekster: I believe that the dress is the Cotton-Taffeta Shelby Dress (item #46094 like Shekster said). It is probably gone from the website due to the new arrivals update, but should show back up in a few days. In the meantime I found this link with a small picture of the dress.
ReplyDeleteAny comments on the satin invitation clutch? Does it look terribly lumpy once filled with things? TIA!
ReplyDeleteDid anyone notice if the Striped Button Back Tee was indeed still on final sale or if it disappeared off the site? On Wednesday it was 29.99 and there were plenty of sizes left, and now it's totally gone. Grr!
ReplyDeleteOMGWTFBB of course this happens the ONE DAY i don't check in with my JCAs! omg!
ReplyDeletewell, this happily negates my fruitless trip to the B&M earlier today, which was wiped out of any decent sale items. and i didn't see much in the store that interested me. when it's 100 degrees out, don't show me long sleeves and wool.
i broke a weeks-long shopping ban for this purchase, but it was worth it. WHEEEEEE! i love seeing that huge MINUS figure on my screen. :)
with this sale promo, i finally got the nolita white denim jacket, two lady lace popovers and some shorts i can wear to work this summer. it's been so hot i just hardly have any other decent options.
i resisted the urge to get the fisherman cardigan and/or anything for my son or my husband.
it will be interesting to see what pops up on Sunday night / Monday. there are still a few stragglers i'm looking for, so i'll be poking around for popbacks.
YAY what a happy start to my weekend!
Well, I've been pretty J Crew-purchase free for a bit, but yesteday was another story. Had to get the new leopard pencil skirt and calvary twill skirt, then ordered the Isabel sweater in heather stone and the ikat/plaid shirt. I think the Isabel may go well with the pencil skirt.
ReplyDeleteShekster and FFM - big thanks for the info on the dress!!! I thought I was losing my mind when I was searching for it this morning! I'm a little annoyed that it has disappeared off the site but this has happened numerous times before, especially during major sales like today's.
ReplyDeleteThe CS was nice enough to give me a price adjustment on a small order I placed yesterday. I'm glad yesterday's purchase was small - a couple of popbacks that I figured would sell out quickly. I kind of suspected they would do a % off promo starting today but never guessed it would be 40% AND free shipping!! I stocked up on stuff for the whole family. I got some incredible deals, like a cashmere sweater for my husband for only $78!
Lizzy T - I have links to irl pics of at least half of the items in this post. If you're on PC, just CTRL+F to search by name for the item. I use the J Crew specific name, exactly as they type it with dashes, etc... As far as must have, I decided mine was the crushed glitter sandals in toffee. Who knows about sizing, so I decided to go for 8, instead of my usual 7.5 as I often take 8 in J Crew. Crossing my fingers because the ballet flats are now TTS. We'll see.
ReplyDeleteThis promo with no minimum shipping was too good for me to pass. I've ordered some things I've tried before. I also got the merino lace sweater, linen pants, and some basics for myself, linen shirts for my husband, and CC Casbah dresses for my two girls.
ReplyDeleteI need to stay off JC website for a while...
egyptomaniac - 'the pressure was too much -- *lol*
ReplyDeleteTweetle Beetle - I agree w/OperaRach to get your usual size to keep the style they were going for. I thought it was a cropped sweater, but it's not. See it on Handbag Aficionado in navy and natural.
Rayna J - I'm usually 4 or 6P and took a 2 in the toga dress. I still have it at the moment so I will try it on and take a photo of the top half. Don't think I can get it over the bump at this point, but we'll see.
Has anyone seen the Lady Lace Popover in the Sand Dune color IRL? Online, it looks like it has some pink undertones (which I like) but I don't trust online pictures. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteWhoops...I meant "soft dune" instead of "sand dune".....it's been a long day!
ReplyDeletehmmm...so it seems a lot of people are having no trouble getting price adjustments on orders placed prior to the sale. Not so for me- I placed an order at 10 pm, figuring the free shipping was the only promo for this weekend, and then discovered at midnight the 40% off was added.
ReplyDeleteI emailed CS right away, and called them this morning. They both said that since I had used the freeship promo I wasn't eligible for the new discount, and that they would TRY and have it applied at shipment but couldn't guarantee it. They were super negative on my chances too. What gives, and WTF? A mere 2 hours difference!!!
I'll wait and see what happens, but I'm happy to see I can point to multiple cases of better customer service- I hope that will help my case. This is ridiculous. bah.
thatdamngreendress: I would try calling back and speak to a different rep. I was able to get a price asdjustment on my order from yesterday.
ReplyDeleteThanks Louise, I plan on it!!
ReplyDeletewoowee- third time's the charm! Thanks to being a 'regular' customer, I was kindly accorded the discount this time. With the lowered duties, it becomes a 50% savings off my original order. Woot!
ReplyDeleteHas anyone tried sizing up in the Lady Lace Popover? How did it work out? I am pretty much always an XS but the smallest they have left is S.
ReplyDeleteI actually purchased this one for $99.99 and ended up returning it - I just didn't love it enough for that price. I bought the XS and it was fine, though perhaps a bit tight through the shoulders/armpit area.
Thanks, Gigi!
ReplyDeleteWhat's up with the jewelry the last few months? Ugh. And resin (read: plastic) bracelets for 20 bucks? Seriously?
ReplyDeleteI placed an order on the 20th and just emailed to see if the promo could be applied and they did it! They did say they won't do it for me anymore but who cares, they just saved me over 70$! Awesome!
ReplyDeletethatdamngreendress, that's excellent news, and a LOT of savings! GOod to read!
ReplyDeleteGigi, so sweet of you to make the effort to try on the toga dress! No rush, though. I am a big time lurker on your blog, so I'll be sure to spot it when you get around to it ;)
ReplyDeleteAnyone have the Swingtime sweater? it looks so cozy but I'm worried about the tent look. Advice?
ReplyDeleteMack- I purchased the Isabel Cashmere Sweater when it first came out and returned it promptly. I found it to be very oversized and not flattering at all.
ReplyDeleteI did take advantage of this promo today and picked up the etoile tank for $17, pearl cluster bracelet and some favorites for my kids- the stanton shorts for my son (these are seriously cute boys shorts!) and the Casbah shorts for my daughter. Finally a great promo! Yeah:)
Donna - The striped button back tee is nowhere to be found. I looked a few times today and cannot find it thru site search or Google.
ReplyDeleteSt Germain - Review of the striped swingtime in this post.
thatdamngreendress - Yay! :)
MissMadaket - I've seen the satin invitation in person and it's very pretty. I wouldn't do a satin clutch personally because I'd be afraid of staining it. I wish I could remember the shape, but I think it's unstructured. Not a ton of form to it so you might get the lumpies once it's filled. It's been quite awhile since I've seen it. They may be able to check the visual display/product sample area at the customer service center to see if there's a sample of it. Or if you're super interested, try San Fran/Westfield to see if they have any left and can describe it better.
Huge update this morning. Managed to get the Oleander lace dress for $60, and the Aperitif dress for $42. Also the Brooke skirt for $30. Let's hope they ship. Lots of cashmere back on, but I'm going to hold off. I can't believe I am buying Final Sale, please pin that Sucker pin on this donkey. Crewlade!!!
ReplyDeleteDinster--that update was huge and totally unexpected!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love this promo and have placed several orders already. (Three for myself, one for hubs so that I wouldn't feel guilty :)
I got an email late last night saying that the order I placed yesterday morning had shipped. Here's to hoping that everything I ordered is correct!
I stared at a black merino cielo ruffle cardigan in M for way too long and it sold out right before my eyes!! I should've snagged it while I had the chance. 40% a 30$ cardigan AND free shipping?! Dumb move. Ack!!
ReplyDeleteOf course the day I tell my boyfriend no more shopping, they have this promo. It's like they know. But man, what a huge update. Too good to pass up.
ReplyDeleteI got the Floral Long Swing Skirt for $60 (I had ordered it at $140, but it got cancelled. That turned out to be a blessing.), the sun-drenched sweatshirt in abstract blue for $27, and the canvas schoolboy blazer for $30. I'm hoping they all ship.
Good to know that I'm not the only one who placed several orders..... I kinda feel bad that I tried to wait and check out when I have few more items...... I just hope that the items that made it through shipping will be correct and free of defects. I wonder if it's the last update? (I have to agree with othe other early birds, it was quite surprising.) It'll do me good as I had spent way more than I should........
ReplyDeleteBoy, wonder if that ups guy will give me looks.....? He prob can't hide all packages in front of the house.....!
ReplyDeleteHey Dinster, you can pin a sucker pin on this JCA too. Although completely exhausted, I dragged myself out of bed and placed yet another order!
ReplyDeletethatdamngreendress: That is great news!! What a savings!
Insane thunderstorms all night and early morning had me up to see the update - 1700+ items! I was happy to finally, finally get the wide calf-hair belt. UPS is going to laugh hysterically at me, and DH has been forewarned.
ReplyDeleteI placed a second order this AM, tho none were updates. Took a gamble on the lined linen cafe trousers,...anyone have them? Hoping they are a "classic" to keep in the closet for awhile.
ReplyDeleteMad that the cute rowboat dress is still not marked down yet. In stores it is on sale ($59.99 or $69.99 can't remember) + extra 40% off. Online regular price $88. Of course the size small is not available at the 2 stores nearby. That would be about a $50 difference. I'm thinking of calling stores to find it & having it shipped direcly from a store. It would be worth the high shipping cost. If anyone sees a size small in the faded black please let me know. Thanks!
ReplyDeletewell, and then I just bought a pair of midheels. I have decided these next 3 days are JCrew marathon and my bank account will be hurting these next 2 months, but this is deal time for end of season :> or :< depending on how you look at it!
ReplyDeleteRayna J - I posted the toga dress in orange.

ReplyDeleteOperaRach, Rose, Gigiofca:
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info! I wear a small in the Jackies so I ordered the shortcut sweaters in an XS in grey and a S in parsley. I love elbow sleeves so I had to have them! I've read the arms are a little tight though. Hmmm....
I placed 3 orders this morning and then cancelled 2 of them. Am behaving like a maniac. Ended up with 1 pair of jeans for my son and the Oleander lace dress in the black for $59. Hope the dress ships, I've loved it from the beginning.
ReplyDeleteBy the time I woke up at 7am PST this morning the big update was dwindled down to scraps..
ReplyDeleteThat's what I get for bad mouthing East Coast Weather my whole trip last week to Virgina. But jeez how do ya'll survive with 102 degrees + massive humidity?
Well, I scored this morning (if they ship..) Last season's Lolli pants in the bright dahlia wool! I have been looking at the new pants and thinking "I love them, but I can't really justify $118 plus duty to canada for pants that I likely won't wear to work and only in early fall anyway.." and there they were at 6 a.m. - $50! That was a score and I am very happy!
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know anything about the Trellis dress? I think I'm going to get it but being final sale, I'm a little trepidatious...
ReplyDeleteOT: I pick up my law school ID next week, and one of the things I'm most looking forward to about my new part-time teaching job is the JC educator discount! Does anyone have any tips for using it online (through a PS or similar)? E-mail me at hexicon at yahoo dot com if you'd prefer. TIA!
ReplyDeletewas very surprised to see such a large update this morning -- my dog's been waking up at 6 am daily (sigh). very out of character for them to restock on a friday night!
ReplyDeletei broke down and ordered a few things i'd been stalking for a long time, namely the dream open sweater with the giant portrait color, some matchstick crops, two conference skirts and the chambray Bermudas, which I've been trying to catch on popback for weeks without success.
I am mad that the Cassis swimwear was all yanked from the site before the promo. Grr. Also that the Liberty Briland bikini is not in stock. Too worried it won't come back to buy the bottoms.
Oh and got the Factory turtle earrings, which have been popping in and out for a while now. I have a wedding to go to this fall and I don't like dangly earrings, so I think they'll be just right.
Not expecting everything to ship. I guess we'll see...part of me hopes they don't restock anymore. My budget can't take it, lol.
I've been late both days to look online, so not much for me, which is probably good. I did get a white boatneck tee for me and a couple tissue tees for my daughter. That was all I found in sale. I did order the blue hacking jacket which isn't going to ship until August and the blue wool capris which also won't ship til then as well. Of course, I'll review when I get them.
ReplyDeleteThe shoes I ordered have shipped in less than 24 hrs. That's a new record. Yay!
ReplyDeleteElaine, I am with you on that part of you that hopes they won't update anymore. I have never felt so frenzied over a sale, for goodness sakes!
ReplyDeleteI mean, who knows when another 40% off free ship no minimum will come around again?
My budget could use a rest too since I've already placed 2 orders since this promo began :) Unlike so many of the other JCAs who favor the fall collection, I'm a fiend for JC's spring/summer collections, so this is better than the holidays to me!
What time did J. Crew restock last night/this morning? I think we're all feeling this multiple-order-guilt-syndrome.
ReplyDeleteA bunch of sizes of the Softspun Cowlneck Dress popped in at 6:00 AM. Finally scored my size. I almost purchased the Linen Conference Jacket, but I'm glad that I didn't. I bought it in the store for $49.99 pre-discount versus $99 online. Cute jacket...
ReplyDeleteI hope they restock for Sunday, and the Sevigne washed leather heels show up in my size. That's the only item on my wish list. Anyone have an idea of the time they restocked today? I'll make a point of trying to catch the next one.
ReplyDeleteI hate to admit it but I actually bought THREE Isabella cashmere sweatshirts. It's a great oversized comfie sweater but I would advise buying a size or two smaller than you usually wear.
ReplyDeleteAlso the pond green isn't as soft as the other colors so I switched that one out. Mine were at 30% off and were well worth the price, or they will be..... next fall!
@ Yowza - I absolutely ADORE my Avenelle Cutout Wedges. I bought them at full price but with the help of my rewards card. They are super comfortable and fit TTS. I have them in black. I highly recommend them, especially at the price they are at w/ the add'l % off. I always get compliments on them.
ReplyDeleteI came into the site too late for the Bronwyn hobo (all sold out!). I even called to see if they were really all sold out (I was in denial.) and the associate pretty much confirmed it with me. My heart totally dropped. I am so bummed!!
ReplyDeleteSo happy I missed the update & will have more cash legt in my savings...(I can only think this way to make myself feel better for missing out on some fabulous J Crew items!!!) LOL
ReplyDeleteOh ladies, ladies, ladies. I have placed three orders so far. I am ashamed of myself. I swore off final sale, but here I sit with three orders coming my way. I have no willpower. Anyhow enough of that, here is what I ordered:
ReplyDeleteThe linen vest and blazer
Liora midheals, any reviews
Gem Studded sweater
Townhall dress in peacock
1035 trousers in cotton
Jenna sweater in pink
A second Alyssa top which i LOVE
Calf hair belt and watch strap...LOVE
Another Blythe blouse in alabaster.
What a great sale!
I grabbed the silk Casbah blouse & the beatrice blouse in olive ... great deals for two tops on my wishlist!!!
ReplyDeleteSara, I loooove the linen blazer so much, I think you'll be so happy with it! I got it for $140 with no additional percent off and have no regrets (although I did have a pang when I saw that my size popped back in the navy with the add'l 40% off, but oh well). Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteWhat time does the sale section normally update (I saw someone mention 6am, was that EST, PST, etc.?)? I'm trying to catch a Lady Lace Popover in XS - had one in my cart on Friday morning but it sold while I was checking out.
Well, no one answered me, re: the Trellis dress, so I bit the bullet and got it anyway. Also got the eyelet schoolboy blazer which I'd been eyeing for awhile. I don't understand why they won't reduce the striped amie maxi. I have one in solid and just want something a little different now.
ReplyDeleteDesert Flower, I had checked shortly after midnight on Friday night before I went to bed and there had been no update. By the time I woke up around 6:15, stock was double what it was the previous night, and I did see several handbags in stock at that time. The inventory in womens is now literally 1,000 items smaller than it was this morning.
ReplyDeleteI think inventory will keep refreshing in the wee hours for the duration of the promo! (damm.)

ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the response Firefighter wife! Can you comment on the fit of the Avenelle wedges? do they run tts? i am worried that b/c they are suede, they may run large...

ReplyDeleteElaine, are you EST, CST or PST?
ReplyDeleteVery, very small update for today, probably around 100 items. My shoes were not among them. There's always tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteThe update happens around 6am EST, 3pm PST. To early for my happy arse.
ReplyDeleteGreat promo! I wasn't planning to shop but couldn't help myself. Picked up a few staples: a white girl's cardigan, size 14 (for myself) for $13 final sale, a burnished olive factory cody cardigan for less than $35 and a floral factory tissue t for $17. Not too bad!
ReplyDeleteOh, and does anyone know what month the peacoats start trickling out? TIA!

ReplyDelete@ Yowza - Yes, the Avenelle Cutout Wedges do fit TTS. I purchased my normal 8 1/2 and they fit like they were made for my feet. I have worn them all spring and summer and they have not stretched out at all. They are extremely comfortable for a heeled shoe.
ReplyDeleteCan anyone tell me what the alabaster cashmere color looks like IRL. There are some cashmere pieces that are available in both alabaster and snow. Historically snow was actually cream not white...if I get the cashmere isabel sweatshirt on popback in alabaster I am just wondered what color it is going to be....is it white (which I'd prefer), in which case what is snow these days.
ReplyDeleteTIA!!
Has anyone tried the Military Tunic?
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to decide if I should order my usual XS or size down to the XXS. Thanks.
can any one comment on the sale instores? Have they shipped everything back? Do they still have the sale? It is % off increased?
ReplyDeleteTIA!
maryeb - I tried on the military tunic in this post. I'm 29 wks in the photo, but I hope it's still helpful. I'm in a L in the photo and my guess is I'd go for my usual S if I were getting it. I haven't found the tunics to be very voluminous this spring and some of the arms have been tight. I noticed on the L that I tried that there wasn't a ton of gaping under the arm as I'd expect. Another reason I think I'd take a S and not size down one. Hope this helps a bit.
ReplyDeleteHey MegCrew -- I was at the store yesterday and they still had quite a few thing there in the sales section. They're also offering an additional 40% off, just like the online deal. I think if your store typically carries a lot of sale items, you'll have luck there. :)
ReplyDeletePerfect gigiofca - I was wondering about the armhole gaping issue. I had that with one of the tunics from last year.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your help and Congrats!!

ReplyDelete@Sydneygirl
ReplyDeleteI ordered the zip front hoodie in the alabaster thinking it would be " whiter " than the snow crewneck cardi I all ready had.
I found that the alabaster colour had a grey undertone to it, where the snow was definitely more ivory. I wouldn't say either of them was a true white. I was disappointed in the alabaster as it looked dingy to me.
I prefer the snow even though it isn't pure white.
HTH
TJ
Just got back from the b&m at Easton in Columbus, Ohio and I was shocked that they're only giving 30% off.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone tried the canvas espadrilles? I'm loving the modern red (which looks like bright orange to me), but I hate that they're final sale. Are they worth the risk?
@ LaurenPhD: I just received the canvas espadrilles in modern red and it's definitely more orange than it looks on my computer screen. It was a total surprise to me since I own the Elsa jacket in that same color and it's not as orange as the espadrilles. Also, I have medium to a bit wide feet and the width was just too snug for me. Since it's canvas it may stretch out a bit though. I'm going to have to call CS to get permission to return or post it up for sale at the exchange. HTH!
ReplyDeleteThanks jcrewphd! I actually don't mind that they're bright orange. Aside from the width, do they fit true to size?
ReplyDelete@ LaurenPhD: Yes, I would say it fits tts. If you're half size, I would order up. I'm a true 7 and ordered that size and the length was fine. HTH!

ReplyDeleteSimone Seiver, I have the Maritime V-Neck Dress and absolutely LOVE it! I find myself grabbing it everytime I need an easy outfit for the lake, pool, shopping, ect. Its very easy to wear and incredibly comfortable. I got mine quite a while back and, to be honest, haven't seen one in a store in a long time. as for sizing, I have a xxs and typically wear an xs in jcrew dresses. I hope you have luck finding one!
ReplyDeleteWas told today that all sale items will be shipped back on Friday and many stores will have new arrivals out Tuesday/Wednesday
ReplyDeleteYowza - I agree with Firefighter Wife ... love my Avenelles! Seems TTS to me and makes pretty feet. I liked the black ones so much went back to get the olive pair. IMO they split the difference between dressy and casual so good for many outfits.
ReplyDeleteSidneygirl - I don't have the alabaster cashmere but other things in alabaster seem to be a greyish pale oatmeal white so agree with TJ for the color description. It's definitely not a white white.

ReplyDeleteOoops sorry I am EST.
ReplyDeleteI didn't notice much of an update this morning, did anyone else? I do see that some of the same items that have been hanging around now have more sizes available but that's about it. ...
Elaine,
ReplyDeleteI checked at 6 EST and no there was an update of just a few items, nothing much. I hope for another big one tomorrow....it would be sad if they didn't give us one more real update.
Thanks TJ and T.Rose re the alabaster color - I had a feeling it was greyish. I just don't know why JC can't do actual white cashmere!! :) I learnt long ago that snow was usually cream colored but am glad to hear what to expect with alabaster. The other day there was an item with the snow and alabaster color boxes next to each other - predictably they both looked 'white' online...I am not sure I want a dingy grey cashmere hoodie - I can share your disappointment TJ.... Thanks again!
Elaine - Thanks for the EST info. I noticed that dresses moved from about 75 to 155 or so. I think the overall number for the update was 300 or so. I saw a number of old items that are what I call single pops. Items that seem like a random return, which may or not ship on your order. And if they ship, may arrive in less than stellar conditions. Y'know, the questionable popbacks.
ReplyDeleteSimone Seiver - Maritime v-neck dress on AppGal and on Confessions of a Jcrewaholic. More links to irl pics are here.
ReplyDeleteBought a pop-back Final Sale blouse last year. First and last time. It arrived a wrinkled mess, with the hem torn out.
ReplyDeleteGigi, that would make sense - I checked mainly the sweater section and it only went up by about 10 - 15 or so and random items had popped back but several already sold out eg cashmere popover hoodie, a (random) striped cardi that wasn't there before etc but overall no new stock. So that is why I said there wasn't much of any update - you are much more on top of these things than I am....I didn't really look at the other sections incl the dresses once I saw there wasn't a big/real update.
ReplyDeletegigiofca and others,
ReplyDeleteYes, and often the questionable popback is not the real item you want. Bag is correct but inside is a totally different item or the wrong sized item that you want. I now stay away from popbacks due to SO MANY errors. I mean after several times and several years of this I finally have learned my lesson!

ReplyDeleteWast the sale supposed to go through the end of today? Did they take down the sale early or do I have my days mixed up? I was hoping for an update to check on a few items.
ReplyDeleteI know I'm commenting really late, but I figured I'd give some input on the Trellis Dress. Though I liked it forever, I was a hesitant to buy it because it was A. a final sale, and B. it never seemed to sell out, which is a big red flag in my book. Stupidly, I bought it anyway. I'm normally a 6-8 on top, 36C bust, and an 8-10 on the lower half, 5'10". All JCrew's sizing seems to have gone up this season, so I bought the dress in a 6 since it looked free flowing on the bottom, good for my wider hips. The agate-and-white print is very pretty and vintage-y, lined with a light beige material (not white, as it looks online), but I had a pretty hard time getting it on, mostly becasue the straps are sewn on so short. The lower half fit fine but the bust area was really, really small. We're talking fit for someone with an A cup, plus with the too-short straps, this made the lower bust seam hit me not under the bust, but at a very awkward two-thirds-down mark- not exactly flattering to the shape of one's torso since it didn't sit against the ribcage area. I could zip it up, but it looked awful on top (thing stuffed-sausage chest, paired with the illusion of no waist). I'd say it fits more like a true size 4. If I could reorder again, I'd go with a size 10. I should have guessed this from the photo online, I suppose. Dang this ridiculous final-sale business!
ReplyDeleteHOWEVER, all is not lost, because there is extra material on the end of the straps- I could let them out about an 1" - 1.5". I plan on losing weight for my honeymoon next summer anyway, so this fact paired with the straps being let down might be enough to make it fit.
It's also delicate. I accidentally fell over and stepped on it (though didn't step too hard) as I was trying to take it off, and I heard a dreaded ripping noise, but for the life of me I cannot figure out which part of the dress it came from. I've scoured it and cannot find a rip anywhere. So, now I can't even Ebay the stupid thing. Ugh.
I also got a few bathing suit separates- the peacock-colored retro dot bikini with the ties (removeable ties!), and the retro dot tank top thing with the shelf-like bra, both in size medium. The tank top fits like a large/xl- the top is too big for my previously stated C-boobs, and it's very swingy and loose on the lower 'tank' part. The bottoms are definitely on the larger side of medium. Not flattering at all, but because of the final sale I guess I'll keep them stuffed in the back of a drawer for the next five years and start my maternity swimwear collection MUCH earlier than expected, haha. This vanity sizing drives me nuts!
