Will you be checking out the Sale section? Are there any items you are hoping to see or to get?

  1. What are people pairing with the paisley bermudas? Not a chambray shirt kind of girl. Looking for something simple but a little nicer than a tshirt.

  2. I bit, though Final Sale is the worst. If my order ends up not working out I'll be soured on ordering for a while. The Mara suede heels I've been looking for popped back into stock in my size, and I added the Isla Platform sandals for a whirl. Thanks as always Alexis for keeping us up-to-date on the promotions!

  3. I ordered a tee for my nephew. I would have ordered the lace tank for myself, but didn't want to pay shipping for just one item and didn't want to add items just for free shipping.

  4. I have no strength of character whatsoever (hangs head, sighs).

  5. xo: I found the high tide tunic to be true to size. I got an XS in the maritime and would have gotten the same in this dress (though I am holding out for the red/white version to go on sale). For me, sizing down to an XXS wouldn't be possible because the arms would be a little too tight. HTH!

  6. Tippy, thanks for the sizing info, much appreciated.

  7. Has the fit of the bistro changed at all? The ones I have from09 are a little big Noel

  8. Anyone have a review or comments about the Andy Shirt Dress -- colour, fit, etc? I don't think I've even heard of it until today!

  9. not sure if it was a glitch in the system but I was able to get free shipping eventhough my order didn't total $150...maybe it's free shipping for Canadians?

  10. MaryMoo, I have worn various colors of tanks, I know that is not nicer than a t-shirt.. but plenty of colors go with them. Coral, medium brown, aqua...

  11. Yvonne, the same thing happened to me, I was going to order the Coddingtons and even though after the discount they were less than $150 the promo code applied free shipping to the order. I ended up closing my broswer before I completed the transaction, but I have little doubt it would have gone through.

  12. Almost checked out but the fact that it's final sale held me back. Can anyone comment on the sizing of the canvas espadrilles? Does that fit roughly the same as the similarly looking espadrilles in te past season? I think they tend to run small and need so go up one full size. Also, anyone know if u earned enough pts to redeem a gc, when do u usually receive it? I beleive the cut off pt is 6/30, so I can expect to see it soon? Thanks!

  13. Place my order this morning. Glad to see the seacomb sweater was now on sale. Ordered the seacomb sweater in the rustic ochre and the linen tie back sweater in cinnamon spice. Thought they'd be good as transition pieces going into fall. Size down on both. They run big and linen stretches. Also got the rowboat dress in faded black which is still not marked down yet but I needed one more thing for free shipping! I'm so weak!

  14. Won't buy final sale online. I don't even bother looking but I like to read this blog and see what everyone is buying or saying about J.Crew.

I don't mind final sale in stores too much esp. with 30% off and educator's discount now being applied to boot:) but sizing is too inconsistent to buy online and I have received to many worn or defective goods over the years. Not worth the hassle.

  15. xoxo - Rose recently posted photos of the red one here.

Yvonne & tamara.chicago - Some accounts are flagged w/free shipping thru 7/18. If you log in it says today please enjoy free standard shipping just above the pic of ballet shoes.

  16. Talk about price discrepancies between online and stores: the popover lace mini is $59.99-30% off instores and online it is $39.99-30%.

Also, the crewcuts girls mixed tape necklace is $12.99online and only $2.99 in stores!

  17. Totally OT, but I got my July catalogue yesterday (finally) and it said on the front that the prices are applicable for Canada through August 15, 2011 and that all prices were in USD. I've never seen that before on any cataloge from J.Crew. Anyone think the prices/shipping etc may change when J.Crew comes to Canada? The dates seem to approximately match....

    ReplyDelete
  18. Teeny84 -- I noticed that too on my new catalogue and wondered the same thing. With the Toronto store set to open "late summer", it'll be interesting to see which approach they take to pricing, seeing as our $$ is above par and has been for ages. I was in the states last week and it made me angry to see just how much better the pricing is there for the same merchandise sold in Canada by the same retailers. Plus most of it is on sale!

  19. I purchased the the Isla platforms for $126.13, and that includes tax! I didn't have the free shipping message on my account but I too was credited the $14.50 shipping charge with the MUSTSHOP code. Not a bad way to start a Monday!

  20. @JCee Tomato,I have a pair of the Sardinia Wedge Espadrilles. My regular size is 9, my J. Crew size is 9.5, and I got these in a 10. They're a little big, but the seam on the canvas is really tight. I had to get them that big to even get my foot in the. HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Thanks Laura for ur size guide. I guess it's better to size up rather than buying my normal size in this particular style.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I may make a small order. Not $150 for sure, as I think prices on the swimsuits and shorts will drop further. ...

  23. Good Morning: Sorry if OT. If anyone sees the silk twill pencil skirt in size 8(Collection item 39192), can you please email me at shekesl@interact.ccsd.net? I finally received mine and the fabric is damaged in the rear-end. TIA! I will post in looking to find too.

  24. @roxy & mlnolan00,
Have you tried on the Isla Platforms? Do they run TTS? I NEVER order on Final Sale, but these have caught my eye! I am so weak! At least I am not alone, right WFF? You always crack me up!
@clicquot, I saw the Andy dress at Net-a-Porter and the measurements they give seem like it runs a little on the larger size, maybe one size. I have not tried it on.

    ReplyDelete
  25. @Shekster, no, I ordered sight unseen. But I will report back once they arrive! I'm kind of hoping J.Crew extends the promo...if the Islas work out I'd like to order them in a 2nd color.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I bit also, but only on items I am 99% sure will work - either rebuying at lower price or have already tried on and was waiting for great price. I did order a pair of the suede marguerite wedges without seeing them, but I'd already tried the maryannes, which fit great, the straps just weren't right for my foot and they were a little higher than I wanted, so I think (I hope!) I'll be good with the marguerites! :) I had such anxiety for the next hour after clicking confirm due to final sale! Hopefully that will at least keep me from going back and looking for deals on stuff I don't need the rest of the week! :)

    ReplyDelete
  27. Gigi, thanks for the heads up. Rose is on my blogroll so I was just getting around to catching up after a week of vacation. I ordered the dress based on the information in the blogosphere. I honestly don't know how I shop J.Crew without all the helpful bloggers.

  28. I bit on this one - ordered the Accordion dress and the new café capris. Sigh... there goes part of my budget for new fall clothes!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I re-purchased a few basics I had purchased before final sale and haven't worn yet for the lower prices. So I'll be returning those... I think some prices will come down more because there is so.much.inventory - so I am trying to be patient. But really, not tempted by too much. (I hate final sale)

  30. Ordered a bunch of Lomellina swimsuits that were on promo (in matching colors, haha) but not FS to try out and the ink-dip popover that is FS but I tried at the beginning of the season so I know how it fits.

  31. Has anyone see in irl the bronwyn hobo with the canvas bottom? Where? And if so any idea of current in store price. Appears to have sold out online. Thanks!

  32. Kind of a vent, but some guidnace please! Was in a B&M on Saturday and found some great deals, sadly not in my size. Specifically I tried the Rowboat dress, knowing I was not trying my size, but hoping one size ran big or the other really small, no such luck! Well it was also marked down to $49.99 with extra 30% off final sale. I cannot bear to pay $88 on line after seeing it so marked down though! Well the SA's working at the time were so not helpful, and were too busy giving advise to a SA that was on break and trying clothese on, they did not even offer to help me track down my size, or try to get a price match via the red phone. I just want that dress for hot summer days! So guidance... if I buy something full price on-line will they price match the lowest price in store if I take it to the B&M with my receipt, or is that just the tackiest thing ever?
    Thanks!!

  33. Ema, what size did you get in the ink dip popover? I am considering ordering one and I think we are about the same size. TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Proudfeet, that's how it should work, and that's how it works at most retailers, but not at J Crew. They'd probably laugh in your face. :( You could try, though.

    ReplyDelete
  35. was looking for the T Shirt Dress..?? is that sold out online?? anyone?

    ReplyDelete
  36. I think the About Town T-shirt Dress is sold out. I went to look for it the other day and the only had a couple size left, then it was gone. :( I wanted to buy a back-up dress since I’ve been wearing it so much. Silly, I know.

Proudfeet, that is so frustrating! Sorry they weren’t helpful. I wouldn’t not want to pay full price after seeing it marked down that much. Hopefully, you can get that dress soon at a good price..I love that dress. My store doesn’t have it on sale yet. Keep hoping it will go down online because I want the blue one now and haven’t seen it in stores.

  37. shopalot, I have the ink-dip popover in two colors and I sized-up based on recommendations here and other blogs. I could have taken my normal size but the added room in the SU was better for getting it on/off and was not at all slouchy or oversized.

    HTH

  38. mrs. anketell, I second TXgirl14, the About Town dress is sold out online but here is the link to the product page, you could check tomorrow and Wednesday for a popback. There seems to be a lot of inventory, you just never know.

  40. Can anyone review the floral long swing skirt item 44441? I would love to hear anyones view on fit and quality of this since it is final sale :( or if anyone has seen pictures posted of it IRL.
    Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Mini, I did a "sort of" review of the floral long swing skirt way back in June. Since then I have had many dramatic moments over having bought it near full price, but in the end, my super-awesome on-line PS credited my account a substantial amount of money to make up the difference between my original purchase and the new sale price not even three weeks later. LOL.

    http://mysuperfluities.blogspot.com/2011/06/floral-long-swing-skirt-as-photographed.html

Basically, the 30% off price is great for the fabric, construction, etc. It is a very full skirt, but the waist is pretty tiny, so I went with the bigger of my two skirt sizes, the 8, to ensure that I would be able to wear it through any future weight gain in my waist.

Here is my only caution...it is a lot of skirt for final sale, you know??? I would be worried that you would have a skirt that can't be returned and doesn't work for you. (Shakes fist at final sale.)

    Good luck!

    ReplyDelete
  42. shopalot, Ema also thought the ink dip popover fit small so you may want to call CS for measurements before placing your order.

  46. Thanks for your help ladies! Glad for a little guidance so I don't go in to a store and look like a goon!

  47. Does anyway love/ hate sales? I am so tired of the time it takes to shop for good deals but I am not willing to pay full price. Does this even make sense? Most of all I hate that I have purchased many of these items 3 times returning and repurchasing as prices and pomos come about.

Either way I did snag some good deals like the Blythe Silk Blouse, 9"Chinos, Jackies and shells, cropped matchsticks in hideaway wash, pique' polos, oversized boy shirt, and new cafe carpris. Thankfully I have tried them all on so I know what I am getting.

At this point I have to keep a spread sheet to track every transaction so I know what I paid previously, what has been returned and what I need to still purchase.

I think I am officially loosing it and this is crossing into crazy territory. I am sure you ladies can somewhat relate.

  48. Bravo ladies for the mad shopping! I just logged onto the site after work and saw quantities take a serious nose dive :>

    ReplyDelete
  49. shopalot, sorry for the late reply. I ordered a 0 because that's what I had tried on. If I remember correctly I found it to be a bit on the short side but TTS in terms of fit. I considered a Tall size but I never ordered Tall and I didn't want to gamble with FS. I think you could size one up without any risk but definitively not size down. HTH!

  50. OT: can't believe that the Jardin skirt is waitlisted until mid-September!!! Who wants to buy a summer skirt in September and pay FP for it? My theory is that it will hit the stores with the next rollout (July 25th).

  54. @mini, I agree w/Dina and I wouldn't recommend trying the gold floral skirt sight unseen. I bought it last 30 off before it was turned over to FS. It is a beautiful skirt and the fabric is gorgeous. But the fit is IMHO only good for certain body types - most definitely not mine. I think if you have a small waist, bigger hips, it might work, but even so, the skirt is soooooo full. Good luck if you do purchase.

    ReplyDelete
  55. @mini. JRuby18 is correct. I ordered two sizes of this skirt, and I bought the smaller size as the amount of fabric in the larger size pouffed out in the rear in a comical way. I, also, ordered during the last 30% off sale before it was final. The skirt is very beautiful however, and I am happy with the size I kept.

    ReplyDelete
  56. After hearing the reviews of all of you, I'm gonna wait and see if the floral swing skirt is around after final sale ends :) Thanks to everyone!

  57. Clicquot - I called for measurements on the Andy awhile back and found:

    Size 2 - chest = 36", waist = 32.75", hip = 40.75”

    Size 4 - chest = 37", waist = 33.75", hip = 41.75”

So if you're a 6, the chest is 38", waist 34.75 and hip 42.75. The size charts should work that way, but to be 100% sure call for your specific info. I haven't seen it in-person, unfortunately. I see it's machine wash & online only.

    Final sale can kiss it.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Suzy - Thanks for sharing info on the floral swing skirt. I thought 6 would fit better in the waist and 4 would be better for a little less volume. I re-ordered size 4 and forgot it would be on final sale. I did the waist around the neck thing, though, on both sizes and the 4 should be better for me than the 6. Hoping a belt will take some of the volume down if I need. Crossing fingers and will find out later this fall. Thanks again to Dina G for help w/the skirt, too. Had to chime in as I am still in love w/the fabric.

  59. Hello JCAs! I wasn't sure if anyone had posted this info yet, but I just wanted you to know that MADEWELL is having a 50% off ALL SALE in stores. I was just at my local store in Tysons today, and the SA told me this was pretty low-key and unadvertised... For those of you who can get to a store, enjoy! I definitely scored some awesome items that I've had my eye on...

    ReplyDelete
  60. No FS for me, plus I know I won't get my package shipped in time before I take off for my vacation. Not inspired by much except for the odd shirt, won't make up the $150 minimum required for free ship (shrugs). Saving my pennies for shopping on my trip, and for Fall. Always interesting to read about what others are snapping up tho :)

  61. mini and others,

I also bought the floral swing skirt on sale with 30% off but not final sale.

I usually wear an 8 or 10 in JCrew skirts. I sized up to a 12 in the floral swing skirt.

The waist in tiny IMO and I did call for measurements and compared it to other JCrew skirts.

Yes, it is very full and it does poof out in front and back but with the right top and/or belt or sweater it looks fine. Just a bell shape to it.

I thought about reordering in a size 10 for less fullness but would not work for me in the waist then. ie I could not pull it lower on the waist if needed.

I would rec. ordering a size up but like Dina said it is a pricey skirt to try final sale.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Quick question - I placed an order the day before they offered the extra 30 percent off and ordered two final sale items. Does anyone know if they'll do a price adjustment if I call?

    ReplyDelete
  63. Megan- it is like rolling the dice to get a price adjustment, you never know unless you try. Policy is no, but typically they do a "one time only" adjustment.

    ReplyDelete
  64. I totally forgot to mention this but there is one perk to being on the west coast and that is we getting catch the new promos as they post at midnight. This last promo with te 30% off was different for me though. Typically I watch them on my phone using my safari browser but the promo never came up. I saw a comment on this blog mentioning to % off and so I used my Internet explorer and there was the promo. I wasn't able to pull up the promo on safari for almost 2 hours....

So the next time you are watching for the promo to change and it isn't. Switch browsers!

    ReplyDelete
  65. I thought I'd be looking for a lemon pulp featherweight cashmere, but $130 with 30% off is a bit pricey. So I think I'm going to pass on this round. If it was $100 w/30% off, I'd pounce on it.

  66. Hello, ladies! I'm wondering if anyone here has tried on the lined cafe trouser in linen, in the ivory color. I've been searching for the perfect white or ivory summer pants for years and am wondering if I've finally found them! In particular, am wondering how these run size-wise and how you think they'd work on someone with noticeable thighs. :) TIA!

I'm on the west coast as well, and no problem pulling up the new promo at 9pm PST with Google Chrome. I rarely get the email until about a day after.

What's up with the no updates? Good thing I bought at the start of the promo.
