Sought & Found: Did you visit J.Crew this {past} Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopped by a J.Crew store this past weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SUMMER sale, or to see some new SUMMER arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store was/ is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

I'll be sitting this promo out. Anyone know when the 30% off sale is over in stores?

  3. Big update this morning in the sale section, but without an additional % off, and final sale, I couldn't bring myself to order items, even though there were a few popbacks that I wanted. :-(

Off topic, I started a giveaway event on my blog a few days ago - please check it out! Click here for the full details. Happy July 4th!

  4. As of Saturday, there was still 50% off sale items in store....Domain, Austin, TX. I got a Coastline sweatshirt for $19.99 less 30%...still $39.99 or $29.99 online. Also got some selvedge jean shorts for $49.99 less 30....still FP online. Almost the entire store was full of sale items so am expecting this will go on for a while.

  5. txmom - Do you mean 30% off sale, or did your store have 50% off?

  6. 50% off clearance in my Crewlet and plenty of 30% and 40% off promos, but all I could find was a favorite tank for $6.99 on clearance, so $3.50 ... store was empty. SA said (defensively) everything was going back to full price tomorrow.

  8. Sizing advice on the accordion dress anyone? I think someone said to size down but one sizes or two or am I totally mistaken and the regular size is best? Thanks for your help.

  9. I contacted online CS for measurements on the Accordion dress and this is what I got.
Size 4 shoulder width: 12.75, chest 32.5, waist 30, hip 32.75 and sweep circumference 34. Length of skirt part only is 22.5.
size 6, shoulder width: 13", chest 34.5, waist 31, hip 33.75, and sweep circumference 35. Skirt length is 22.5. All measurements are in inches. It looks like you would add an inch to the hip and waist going up or subtract an inch to go down. I have not tried this dress in person. I have read that people have gone down one to two sizes. I think it is because the waist measurement is so big.

  10. JC website for dresses gives these measurements:

    S/4 chest 34.5 waist 27 hip 37
    S/6 chest 35.5 waist 28 hip 38

  11. I went to the store in Chicago Michigan Ave. I did not hear that the 30% off was ending tomorrow, but I did not ask. Lot of sale stuff for people who are looking. It is picked over but not as much as I have seen in the past. Various dresses, skirts eg the lace ones (pink cotton one, grey one Sz 0 and 2 and couple of large sizes). The white dress with the lace panel in the front and elbow length sleeves several Sz 4, couple maybe bigger sizes (hard to find size as it is on the liner slip). A number of the foil print dresses various sizes, no Sz 0. A lot of those dresses with the cream background and the little pink flowers. A couple of the cream maxi dress with the blue flowers. Swim coverup (gauzy fabric in coral or white or navy). Schoolboy blazer in the fine blue stripe with the nautical buttons, as well as a pink color. No Sz 0 in blue, Sz 0 in pink and various other sizes in both colors. A few other jackets. Then of course a lot of tees, shirts etc. Very few cardigans at all but a few cashmere. Some shoes and accessories.

  12. Thanks Shekster! I'm not able to call CS today because I'm at a family event and such a thing would be frowned upon. But I was able to post and read with my mobile device and the sizing info is really helpful. I'd like to order this dress tonight because it will likely sell out in my size before the next percent off sale.

  13. I just bought the White Pointelle Beach Cardigan in the store. The Sales Associate gave me the online price of $88 vs. $118. The 30% off final sale is still happening in store.

  14. I stopped by Cherry Creek in Denver and was very disappointed. Even things that were on sale online were not on sale at the store. What gives?? I didn't buy anything.

  15. I went by my store today and was again bored. Even the super sale items don't tempt me.

I am really frustrated with the difference in price from online to the store.

They had the new cafe capri for $29.99 (then 30%) and they are still around $69.99 online. There are some jeans on sale for $19.99 in store and listed at $89.99 online.

It is frustrating because our store is so small and they carry a very small sample of what Jcrew has to offer. (I can't imagine what it feels like to live somewhere without a store)

There are also some items on sale online but not in the stores.

Have you ladies had any success on getting the an online price on a non discounted item or getting an item from another store or online at the store price?

I hate to even ask CS or push my luck but wondered what your experiences are? TIA

  16. MegCrew- I'm experiencing the same thing. I live 2 hours away from a store, and get in only 1x a month at best. So I have a hard time buying an item online if I know it is on sale for cheaper online. I just have not been buying from JCrew because of it. So I wish corporate would catch wind that the pricing tactics is actually a deterrent. Not unless, they keep prices higher online, so when people are shopping in the store and they ask the SA for the item in their size, they can pull from online stock. So keeping online sale prices higher is done to catch those who can only shop online into spending more?

I have no idea why they do this. It doesn't work psychologically, like keeping a price high online equates to JCrew believing it is worth that much and is a coveted item. That psychology doesn't work on me. I deduce them as playing games, so I refuse to buy from them when I see a pricing game going on. I don't even call a store to try to get a lower price, just don't. Anthro is so much better to shop at, they price across the online/in store the same, and will search stores for items in your size that are even on sale

  17. @MegCrew,

I have always had good luck getting my B&M to match the online price, and I actually do it pretty often. Case in point: last week they still had the Linen Island Cardigan marked at $79.50, but readily matched the $39.99 online price, and added the additional 30% off. Only on a couple of occasions have I had a discounted item shipped from another store, but my PS made sure that I got the sale price. I can't comment on the other scenario (trying to get an online/phone order to honor an in-store price). That one seems a little less likely to me...HTH.
