Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to take advantage of the "secret sales", the additional 20-30% off sales, or to see some new holiday arrivals in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic! Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. San Francisco Westfield Center store has a pretty good sale section (IMO) right now:

additional 30% off (sale items), Teagan Ruffle Swiss-Dot Top, loads of Merino glass button cardigans for $39.99, dream tie cardigans for $29.99, tissue turtlenecks for $29.99 (not sure about the price), skinny belts for $24.99 (I saw some green metallic ones for $9.99), sherpa lined puffer vest (navy and one other color-can't remember which-are on sale $69.99), coats on sale (I think the prices are same as online but not sure), PJs bottoms for $29.50, tanks for $15, some sherpa lined hoodies for $19.99 at Stonestown store (bright pink and blue), skirts (taffeta a line for $39.99 and sketchbook roses) and many more I can't remember everything right now. (Also, parisian stripe scarves on promo for about $40, mohair scarves promo $35)

Thompson totes are NOT on sale in stores (still $198) but a lot of jewelry pieces are currently on sale (cornsilk fireball necklace with a ribbon for $39.99, loads of bracelets for $14.99 and up)

I'll post more if I remember

  2. My local west coast boutique offered the HoHoHo tiered discounts in store this evening, 30% off sale items, honored 25% red discount cards, and/or 15% student discounts. Some items qualified for 30% discount, others for 25% (and both received the add'l 15% student discount on top of it!).

  3. Is there store-only colors for Lucinda coats?

Website has four colors - ivory, citron, navy and black.

I would have really liked a charcoal grey though.

    Thank you!

  4. I prefer to shop online.
Totally bummed that I couldn't place my sale order online tonight- the site was down all night for me- again!
So annoyed that I couldn't use the latest offer. When will J.Crew get their website together?

    Thanks...needed to vent!

  5. I'm actually leaning towards avoiding the stores. Will you be visiting any stores this weekend Alexis? Seems awhile since anyones asked you that.

  6. SF CA - Great recap of the sale section! The Thompson is $150 in Walnut Creek. They also have the puffer vests in chocolate and a couple in dark slate. No more black, navy or white/ivory. I saw only one of the full length puffers there in black. I wonder if they will restock these. I was lucky to get a puffer vest in navy.

  7. Sorry, slightly off topic--but I saw someone in the Madeline dress tonight and now I want it--so cute!

Can anyone tell me how it fits? I want a little info before I start the search for it...thank you!

  8. The J. Crew Hawaii store has a whole new resort section! Just in time for you last minute flight to Hawaii....It's filled with light-weight shirts, bermudas, 3" chino shorts, a new ruffle silk top, and the cutest giraffe print top this side of the Mississippi!

  10. I was planning on going this weekend, but think I'll wait until the order I placed yesterday arrives next week, in case the size doesn't work out for me...probably better to hit the mall on a weekday anyways. :)

Thanks to everyone reporting the deals at their local stores!!! :)

  13. I was in both my b&m's yesterday. In the first, I managed to resist a whisper lame tank, which was marked $29.99 instead of the $19.99 on the website. The SA seemed disinclined to look it up on line, so I bagged on francie skirt and some socks, too--it was amazing how easy it was to just walk away. I don't know, I've just gotten very impatient with J.Crew. In my second store, I did wind up buying an Elizabeth silk ruffle halter for a staggering $15.00 after the 30% and my 25% card (the first time I used it, and the SA did give it back to me). What I noticed in both stores was the piles and piles of returned merchandise behind the counter, a lot of it wrapped in plastic, so it was clearly catalog stuff. Could it be that all the mistaken TURKEY orders are now coming home to roost?

    ReplyDelete
  14. maryw2062: It is either the turkey orders or the sizing is completely off.

I do not want to be negative but, I received a couple of orders yesterday, it was a good thing that I got everything on sale because the quality just was not there to warrant the fp.

  15. I would love to find a Francie skirt in ivory, size 6, in stores. I believe that it's priced at 59.99 in stores, but it's still 90 online. TIA

    ReplyDelete
  16. I saw light colored skirts in the Short Hills, NJ store (they had lots of skirts, if anyone is interested, of all kinds--sharkskin, silk A-lines, some sketchbook roses, lots of metallic and non-metallic pencil skirts)--I would never wear an ivory or red pencil skirt on my big butt, so I didn't look too closely to see if they were francies or double serge. They also had a couple of 2's and 4's in the black dutchess dot, which I know some others were looking for, and they were on sale. You might want to call to double check. I may stop back today, but they are forecasting an ice storm for this afternoon here in Jersey, so I'm not sure. If I go I'll be on the lookout.

  17. Not a lot of great stuff in my local store (Twelve Oaks, Novi, MI), but here goes... tons of the City Fit Trouser cords, tons of sequin placket T's, a few metallic-flecked pencil skirts, TONS of bootcut cords (someone was looking for the bootcut cords in indigo last week, I think? Lots of indigo at this store), merino Lea cardigans, lots of sale coats, puffer vests (only S and XS in the grey, plenty of ivory, a few navy)... plus all the usual promos. No hot items, at least not that I saw!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Thanks everyone for sharing!!! :)

Jeff: First, thanks for asking! :) Second, I am planning to stop at one or two J.Crew's this weekend. Hopefully there are some good deals to be had. :)

  19. Atlanta's Lenox store: additional 30% off sale items, PLUS additional 20% when you spend $100, 25% when you spend $150, etc.

  20. For anyone in Connecticut, I highly recommend hitting the new J.Crew in Stamford. I went last weekend and it was much less crowded than either the Greenwich or Westport stores and has plenty of stock. Not so much in the sale section but I did notice Merino Lily ruffle cardigans, Maria ruffle cardigans, and Dream simone cardigans all marked down to the same price as the website with an extra 20% off.

By the way if anyone owns the Merino Lily Tuxedo cardigan I'd love to hear your thoughts on it, specifically on sizing. TIA!

  21. I'll be going into my local B&M to return my ill-fated ruffle neck cashmere cardi this afternoon. Hopefully I'll have a pleasant experience and come back with lots of new goodies to report back here.

  22. Beachwood OH doesn't have a ton, but what they do have is 30% off (not final sale) and pretty cheap. I got a wide patent belt for $11 after 30% and 15% student discount.

They had tons of corduroys of all styles. Wide patent belts in lots of colors but I didn't see any black ones. Cashmere femme sweater for $59.99 which worked out to $35 after discounts. Several hot pink floppy flower Astrids. One was size 6 but I don't know about the others. They had a ton of Sean bags marked down to $99.99, tulip and dark cloud colors. No shoes that I could see.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I stopped by the Georgetown J. Crew and bought a couple pairs of trousers for the BF. With 30% off and my student discount, they came out to be about $12.50 each incl tax!! They had lots of stuff on sale in the women's section, from coats to the Sean bags. I do agree with a few of you in that J. Crew seems to be lacking in quality these days... then again, I've always thought they were overpriced. These clothes just look way too pretty in the catalog, though. They hired a great photographer!!

  24. Has anyone seen the Kennedi Alpaca Jacket (Item 99830) in stores? I'm looking for a Large as a gift and can't find in anywhere. Thanks!!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Off topic (in a way), but I cannot seem to even log on to the Crew site this morning. I get a "JSP Error" notice.

I may be going to the store afterall...when it finally stops snowing here!

  26. OT: Yesterday I received a HUGE packet from J.crew (which can contain at least 5-6 items) only to find small gloves in it. Well, nothing was wrong as I just ordered only a pair of gloves, but J.Crew could have shipped them even in a small "envelope"

J.Crew: Please don't waste natural resources. Also, don't charge expensive shipping charges for unnecessary excessive packages. There are a lot of things J.Crew can do to reduce your shipping costs.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Lisa: it seems working now (at least for me). But as you mentioned, it's not been stable for these days.

  28. Lisa - I am getting JSP error also. Ugh!!

  29. OT: On last night's episode of the New Adventures of New Christine, Julia Louis-Dreyfus had on the Teagan ruffle swiss-dot top in black. It looked cute but she only wore a black bra underneath. I would've gone with a black cami instead.

  31. I am considering the cashmere heirloom henly and was admiring it in the cartalog. For such a pricey piece I was considering navy, black or grey. The sweater on the model was blade green and it appeared to be a beautiful shade of green, not too bright. On another page of the catalog I think the color was brighter. Can anyone tell me if the blade green is a bright shade? Or is it softer? Thanks so much!

  33. Was at the pleasanton store on tuesday, they had addl 30% off sale, coats were on sale, but not as cheap as online. They had lots of puffer vests, all colours. I got the navy elz. halter way cheap, but am going to return, bec. I think I prefer the vict. ruffle one. Many people were doing what appeared to be catalog returns. I will be returning my recent catalog stuff today in WC too. Astrid charcoal jacket w/ droopy flower too grandma for me & flower is beyond droopy.

  34. i can't take it anymore. after having HUGE hassles on an order two weeks ago, a supervisor told me she was sending me a 20$ gift certificate for my troubles. of course it never came, so I called to inquire about it, and there is NO RECORD of it to be found! imagine that! I didn't ask for the card in the first place, but when you tell a customer you're going to do something for them, and then DON'T do it, it makes the problem worse then in the first place!!!
    JCREW ARE YOU READING?!?!

  35. I was at the Providence Place store yesterday, they had a large sale section with additional 30% off. There were stadium cloth lucinda coats, merino turtlenecks, lots of cords, one ivory pea coat M, 3 dbl serge pencil skirts 2 persimmon sz 6, one ochre sz 8. I got the lucinda in navy for $104, it is much nicer looking on than in the photos online, the fabric is much nicer than I had expected. A great deal IMO. I am thinking of going again on Sunday, but need to think about what my wardrobe needs are. Happy Shopping!

  36. Hey, I just got the Salina ballet flats in metallic fog, they are a little tight (a 7 and I wear a 7 in the driving mocs) I was wondering if anyone had any experience with them, do they stretch or should I look into getting a 7.5? As a side, I originally got the Penelope flats in a 7.5 and they were too big (in length, not really width).

  37. Alexis,
I am wondering whether you will post an entry about the temporary suspension of "final sale" in the stores. They are still offering the additional percentage off, but it is no longer final sale - look at the receipt. I asked the SA about it and she said that it has been suspended during the month of December for gift shopping. It's step in the right direction!

  38. I went to South Coast (Costa Mesa, CA) last night and, basically, the entire back half of the store is on sale.

    Here's what I recall:
    *lots of bootcut cords

*lots of cashmere long-sleeve tees, all colors, all sizes (these come out to $49 with all the discounts!)

*a few each of several skirts: francie (ivory, papaya, black), dbl serge (ohcre, persimmon, black), black on black polka dot skirt, black mettalic flecked skirt, gray belle roses skirt (4 and 12, i think)

*academy pants in orange, navy, gray, metallic-flecked

*tissue turtlenecks (lots and more in the back)

    *shoes in size 8+ (lots of 9, 9.5, 10)

*tons of skinny belts, all colors except black

*lots of coats (several styles: lady day, tulip, etc)

There was more, but these are the main things I can recall. I'll watch for specific requests and let you know if it triggers a memory of anything else. HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  39. God Lord, they've eliminated final sale, and you STILL want to talk about it? I swear, complaining must release endorphins for some people. Alexis, I'm opposing that, and ask that we let the dead horse rest from it's constant mindless beating.

    ReplyDelete
  40. The website is not working for me either.

  41. Boca Raton Florida had very little sale. The whole front store was new merchandise. I can't see being spring/summer yet. Even in So. Fl.

  42. My HOHOHO order is due to arrive tomorrow and if it comes and is OK then I might hit the store Sunday to take one last advantage of the 25% off. Otherwise, I am just going to stay away because I mostly have everything I need, though they do have a few marked down dress shirts I have my eyes on...

    ReplyDelete
  43. TOTALLY off the J.Crew topic&
    Enabler Alert ;)-

Don't know if any of you ladies are into Rebecca Minkoff- but there is a sample sale of her stuff on HauteLook.com NOW.

Better quality than J.Crew bags, and the SS makes it at least 50% off. I Just purchased a Nikki hobo in natural for $297.00. Also- use coupon code: CUSTSERV10 for $10 off! (free ship pretty much :)

If you take advantage of the sale, I would really, really appreciate if you used my email- acarosi@mail.uri.edu as your referral!

    Happy shopping ladies!

    ReplyDelete
  44. By the way, ALOT of stuff in the store was marked completely wrong. Most of the stuff was way cheaper than it was marked... so... ask! The cashmere femme sweater was still marked $119 but I asked and it was actually $59.99. Same with the merino button cuff cardigans, and the glass button merino cardigans.

Also remember that they match the online price if it is lower. Of course they will probably be rude to you, but it's worth it anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Smarty - was the South Coast plaza sale stuff any additional percentage off?

Thanks! I'm looking forward to shopping!

Anyone got news on any of the NY stores? I'd like to try on a few of the jackets (Carrie, Lady day) and would be super interested in any extra promotions!

  48. Just FYI: I was overcharged for the glass button merino cardigan at two different J Crew stores. The sweater should be $39.99. I was charged $69.99 at one store and $59.99 at another. You really have to watch at the register and then check your receipt before you leave. I'm not complaining, though -- got some excellent deals!

  55. OT: But can anyone give me the product review on Merino Lili Tuxedo cardigan? Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I usually shop at the Georgetown store in DC, but after hearing someone recommend the Pentagon City store I tried it out. I must say, I have NEVER experienced such horrible customer service at a J.Crew in my life. I've been a customer for 10 years, and I worked in the store for 3 years.

I had ordered a pair of knee high star socks online for a gift during the TURKEY sale, but they did not arrive in my package. I found the same socks in the store, explained to the MANAGER what happened (I had my online receipt with me) and she refused to match the $6.99 price! They were still marked at $14. It may sound dumb to some people, but it really upset me!

I asked THREE different people if they had the Dream Simone cardigan (the sale section was an absolute mess) and none of them knew what I was talking about. One girl said "the sale is over there...go look". I am still outraged by the experience. No one in my store would have ever gotten away with that kind of behavior. Mickey would have been appalled if he walked into that store, as I'm sure anyone who expects high-quality service from J.Crew would be.

Okay, sorry to rant. It just made me so mad! I'm sending an email to corporate.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Ohh, I'm sorry I snatched it bugpin :( I'll be sure to let you know if I decide to sell- they still have a bunch of great stuff left too! The bumpy patent stuff is kind of neat...

Right now, I have an MAM in noir and now I am adding the Nikki in natural to me small collection!

So nice to know there are fellow minkettes among us J.Crew lovers :)

  61. Kat - I totally agree with you about Pentagon City! I haven't been there since this summer when I had three bad experiences in a row (different people each time - so it's definitely a store-wide problem). I went there to return a pair of shoes over the summer and for Lord knows what reason J.Crew shipped the shoes to me w/o a box. I had my receipt, original packing, and the shoes were clearly brand new, and I explained that I hadn't received a box, but they definitely thought I was lying. The SA brought over her manager to interrogate me in front of a line of customer to try to get me to confess what I'd done with the box. I almost cried! Another time I was buying two suits and a bunch of stuff for an upcoming trip (i.e., walking around the store with $700 worth of stuff in my arms) and couldn't get people to do basic things like checking to see if they had my size in something in the back, getting a dressing room (seriously - they were all on cash registers, and made a face when I asked for a room, and said I'd have to wait a few minutes), etc. Sorry to hear that they haven't shaped up! Writing to corporate is a good idea, I wish I'd thought of that at the time.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I totally agree with EM that the BM stores do not mark down the latest markdown price very often. It happens all the time .You see that items are much cheaper online than the store markdowns.Like yesterday I picked up a merino cardigan which I knew was marked down to 39$ online but the store price on all of them was 59.99 I liked the color which was available in my size ,so I asked and the S.A said that it is 39.99 and with addtional 30% and my 25% off I got it for 20.99!!!
I do not know why they do not put the correct price - because I think it will help to move the sale merchandise faster!!! I would never have bought the cardigan for 59.99 even with additional 30% off because I thought it was overpriced for such featherweight light merino!!

  63. I went to the B&M today and was overwhelemd by the amount of Resort wear. I mean it's cute and all but I'm in Dallas and it was only 40 outside this morning. Cold weather doesn't make me want to buy shorts. I guess it will all be on sale by the time it gets warm....

  64. Hey-it actually popped back up but then I decided to grab the natural MAM as I have MAM in TDF sage and find I am more of a MAM girl. I have Concord Nikki that has sat with tags as it is BIG and I might sell so I changed my mind and went with MAM again:) Hoping that it is smooshy like sage but it has a stiffer look in the pics. Please post when you get it and thanks for the coupon-awesome!!! I was already member so sorry I couldn't help there;) Nothing beats her leather for the $ either-esp at these sales!

  65. Kat and Amelia, I agree with you both about the Pentagon City store...there are a few nice people that work there, but overall the customer service is horrendous. I much prefer Tyson's or Friendship Heights, but PC is on my way home on the metro, so I almost always end up there.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Good for you bugpin! I LOVE my MAM! This will be my first Nikki, and I am pretty small (5'3) so, we will see how it goes...

  70. anon 9:54 : There was a memo that came down to CS that there was a problem sending out gift cards last week, this problem was for Canadian orders, maybe the problem is bigger than they thought. I would call CS again you probably will receive a different story.

I agree with you that CS should follow through on what they promised you, I had a problem concerning a credit that CS gave me, and they had to open a case for it, when I did not see the credit appear on my cc statement they said to me that my request has been declined because I received fs. I received fs for my problems with my turkey order, which JC messed up in the first place. Very frustrating!

    ReplyDelete
  71. I went in last night to the South Coast Plaza and got one of the mirrored leather datebooks. They honored the 20% off credit card purchase on top of the 30% off sale, which surprised me.

I don't know if I am going to go in this weekend to the San Diego store.

  72. Terri:

I don't know about the color of the blade green, but I think the cashmere heirloom henley is VERY soft. I have it in turquoise and just ordered it in another color this week. It's one of my favorites - get lots of compliments on it.

  73. Last week the BF bought himself something at Jcrew in store (shock!). Anyway he came home and I saw the goodie I new it was like atleast ten dollars cheaper online. I told him to call customer service and she gave him a credit back. So maybe you guys can try that instead of having to go back to the store.

  74. OT, but does anyone own the double serge skirt in ochre? Can someone give me their thoughts on this item. I have been eyeing this one and the deep persimmon one. I would love to know how thick the material is, is it worth the price tag, and how versitile the colors are. Thanks so much.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Kat, Amelia, Amy,

Right on about pentagon city. I sure hope someone is reading this from there. I never get anyone willing to help me. on saturday i got an eye roll for an SA when i asked her a question and then had to track down someone to open a fitting room for me b/c they were too busy talking to other SAs.

A week before, i went in there a to look at a coat and asked if they could match the price online. the woman flat out said no even though we all know they should look it up online and honor that price. i hate going there but they ususally do have a greater selection in sale merchandise. for good customer service i highly recommend Tysons and even Friendship Heights can be hit or miss.

meanwhile regarding sale merchandise they had a lot last week, lots of henleys, tanks and merino sweaters.

    ReplyDelete
  76. OT-did we determine you can call in an order and get the 30% stacked with the 25% off red card?? TIA

  77. I forgot to mention that while the line was VERY long, they only had two people at the registers! grrr

  78. Anyone need the SOLD OUT size 2 Victoria ruffle cami in fuschia for $75 shipped before returning?

    ReplyDelete
  79. leaderboys, the ochre pencil skirt is thick, definitely a fall/winter piece, and IMO the color is a fantastic almost neutral - I've worn it with black, turqoise, white, pink, dark peony, green so far! The skirt is TTS, but you could size up if you want it to be lower on the hips. I have the ochre and the black and love and wear them constantly - they're one of the few JC items I'd say was worth full price. HTH!

  80. Has anyone in Connecticut seen the Issy in store (particularly Farmington or S. Windsor)? I had it in my shopping cart and couldn't check out...and couldn't check out...and couldn't check out...wouldn't you know, now it's sold out. Anyway, if you did see it, is it on sale or still full price? Grr! Thanks guys!

  81. Anon at 1:12PM: What size Issy are you looking for? About a week and a half ago (which could be an "eternity" for JC stores, admittedly), there were about 3 Smalls, and 2 XS at the Washington Square Mall JCrew in Portland,Oregon. Their phone: 503 624 6386

FYI, the Issy is very fitted, and while not as substantial as some of the other sweater jackets, it's absolutely adorable! I'm between an 8-10 in jackets and the M Issy will fit with a thin tee well on me.

    ReplyDelete
  82. In my store, the Issy was marked $119.99... If you can't find one in a store near you, I know that the Twelve Oaks store (Novi, MI) had 3 or 4 yesterday, and the Somerset store (Troy, MI) had 15 or 20 last weekend. Worth calling if you can't find it anywhere near home!

  83. I just got back from the Westport, CT where I had a horrible experience with a SA. When she rang up my purchases, she charged me $59.50 for a pair of chocolate boot-cut cords. When I told her that I thought they were $49.99, she said "No, only certain colors". I said "are you sure?", and she said "yes". Not wanting to hold up the line or get into a big argument with her, I had her proceed with my purchase (I bought several things altogether). On my way out of the store, I walked by the table where all of the cords were and OF COURSE all of them (even chocolate) were marked $49.99. I went back to the SA, who corrected her error. She was not happy about this. She was extremely RUDE to me and made me feel like a piece of S___. On top of all that, she didn't give me the 30% (on the cords). When I questioned her on that, she just said "It's Corporate!" WTF?????? I have NEVER been treated this way before in ANY store, and I just wanted to vent. Thank you! :(

    ReplyDelete
  84. I overheard someone in the Short Pump (Richmond) store the other week refusing to price match for something that had sold out online. She was very nice about it, but it sounded like it was one of those rules they're expected to enforce. I didn't bother asking if they could price match a puffer coat which was why I went in in the first place. Just another example of inconsistency across stores, I guess.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Sally, hopefully corporate has read your posting. You should definitely forward a copy of this experience to them. Sounds like a really unpleasant experience at that store. That store doesn't need to have employees like that at the register. We are in a recession and I'm sure they'd have nooo problem finding a replacement without the attitude.

    ReplyDelete
  86. I was in the Orlando store this morning returning a botched online order. The associate didn't seem surprised (or apologetic) about it. I asked if they had any extra 25% off cards. Apparently not. And then I noticed that all of the 30% off things are still marked final sale, which I think is ridiculous, especially this time of year. Really no incentive to spend.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Ann Arbor is 30% off sale prices. On top of that they are doing the HOHOHO (extra 20% off 100, 25% off 150, 30% off 200 and up). So I go in to return my cardigan and end up with a ginormous bag of goodies! Truthfully, I didn't mean to do it, especially since I caved this morning and ordered the yellow uptown tote and various other goodies for myself. But there was no way I could pass up:

men's pj pants for 6.82 (3 pr. for gifts)
    men's T, 5.24
    men's Briarcliff sweater, 20.99
    merino turtleneck, 20.99
    sherpa zip hoodie, 10.49!!!
tailored wool rosette tank dress, 26.24!!!
    sequin v neck tissue t, 7.87
socks (to get the extra % off, before tax) 3.67

But here's my favorite part: the full price of the items would have been $584.50 plus another $35.07 in tax, which makes that $619.57. I paid $122.99 total, which basically rocks!

My second favorite part is how pleasant my shopping was today. My SA was really nice, even though I had to run and grab something to get the next percent off. Then there was confusion about whether the percent off applied before or after taxes (it's before taxes, BTW). But she was pleasant all the way through, and after that did my sweater return happily. Also, there was another mom in there with twin three year old boys who were absolutely adorable. It's nice to see other parents of toddlers in there, usually it's just my two year old daughter causing a rukus!

If anyone's in the area, it's worth combing the racks for the deals, and I think the manager said the extra promo is only today.

  88. OT: Can anyone tell me how Tory Burch shoes fit?

    ReplyDelete
  89. p.s. to my long post from Ann Arbor...
There was a TON of merino sweaters in the sale section. Melanie cardis in all colors, turtlenecks galore, and a smattering of other styles which all seemed to be the same marked prices as the website. There was still a tablefull of cord pants in various colors, and a rack of the sherpa lined down vests. Men's side was relatively small, but prices were good, a selection of oxford shirts in different plaids and a few solids (esp. lavendar) from 19.99 to 39.99 marked.

  93. Tory Burch Reva's (flats) run a little small, so if you are a 1/2 size, I would size up. The heels tend to run TTS. Hope that helps!

    ReplyDelete
  94. Chicago Michigan Ave has a TON of shoes on sale, I got the Alessia Patent Leather Heel for $36(!!) after all the discounts (30% off sale and then 25% from tier promotion) they have it cool graphite and ivory, pretty much all sizes, no 10s though. They also have a few Lulu heels, I remember seeing a Brent Sienna, I think it was 149 before discounts. They also have a peep toe heels and a bunch of flats. If you're looking for a shoe they are definitely worth calling.

To be honest I have always shied away from J.Crew heels because they seemed so uncomfortable, but I've been prancing around the house in the Alessias for at least an hour and they've been surprisingly comfortable!

  95. Anon at 2:12 - it's not final sale anymore. The signs still say it but my SA told me they were waiting in new non-final sale 30% off signs. Ask at the register. Sale is now returnable during the month if December.

    ReplyDelete
  96. @ Houston Galleria, the store is having additional 30% off sales item. They have scattered selection. I got my bootcut cords for approx. $32 with 30% off plus student discount.

  97. Lizzie driving mocs are available at the Tyson's store in patent and tumbled leather.

They are not marked to reflect the on-line sale price of $79.99 but SAs will price match. Plus an additional 30%.

  100. Hi all,

    ***SIGH***

    Site's down again. About 1pm pacific time. I guess everyone's using the HOHOHO code while they can :}

As for me, I expect I'll be back in the B&M this weekend. I hope to return a few items -- still trying to get the fit right on my winter coat. Also hope to use the 25% red card I recv'd recently.

    I admit, I'm a bit undecided... Order online now & try for the best % off or go to a store & hope that they will honour both the red card & my edu disc. Back to retail roulette I guess :}

Hopefully the system will be back up & full of tempting sale items!

    Happy hunting everyone,

    Heather:D

  101. Yes, site is down at 4:25 p.m. Maybe they are adding new merchandise? I placed a big order on MOnday and already got it! Placed two more on Tuesday and the e-mail states it is on it's way with tracking number. So far so good WOW!

  103. Anyone been to the Cambridge Galleria and/or Chesnut Hill in MA?

Also, if I order something on sale (but NOT using a promo) from the red phone, should I be "guarenteed" free shipping? I have called from the red phone before and made an order using a promo and they would not give free shipping.

Also, on top of free shipping can I get a student discount? Thanks!

PS- I am now drooling over the MAB ... I wish Id gone to the mall earlier to return my excess online orders so I had more $$ available! Im going tomorrow, and I think I may cave & buy one on sale (albeit at a higher price)... How often does RM have sample sales?

    ReplyDelete
  104. kendra-check hautelook.com for RM they are having a sale right now! Use CUSTSERV10 for $10 off too! Another JCA pointed me to that coupon-thanks sweetie!

  105. bug pin - I saw the argyle cashmere cardi w/crystal buttons in b&m in a medium and it looked big. They may run on the larger side so I ordered a small online.

  107. can anyone comment on the fit of the sparkle tweed aubrey jacket?
    TTS or big or small?
i usually buy a 4 in a top, but there is only a 6 available. i have gotten a 6 when an item runs kind of small... but i think maybe i heard this runs very big? so i'm also thinking maybe a 2 if it runs huge?
i don't know which size to get!

  116. I received my snowflake tee from the "find it" service today. It was shipped via FedEx so came faster than the usual UPS orders to Canada. It looks great on, very festive and feminine. I can't wait to wear it this weekend.

For all you Canadian J.Crew fans, if you collect AirMiles, I hope you know that you can get miles from shopping J.Crew at AirmilesShops.ca There are over 100 online stores that participate. Seems like some of us Canucks spend quite a bit and except for a brief period in the last year we are always paying extra for exchange rate plus duty and taxes so why not get something more out of it?

    One other thing about the "find it" service. This item was wrapped up like a gift, likely because it was packaged at the store. I should have taken photos but I was so excited to get it I just ripped it open and put it on. {:-}

  119. OT - I was at Club Monaco today and the place was packed. They are offering 30% off the last marked price and there were some fantastic deals. I got three pairs of lined and tailored wool slacks for ~$40 each. They were already marked way down from $129. A gorgeous cashmere scarf for my boyfriend marked down from and adding in the 30% discount was $48. The only full price item that I got on deal was a brilliant blue stretch pencil skirt with stretch lining for $70.

They also have some very luxe knit wool/cashmere/synthetic blend scoop neck, long-sleeve tops in various colors and wide stripes that are soft as a dream. They were full price so I passed but I think I am going back tomorrow to get at least one.

South Coast was doing an extra 30% off sale items and they were not final sale. FYI, it was reeeeally busy in there, so the store was pretty trashed. Go willing to dig. Lots of good finds, though.

    *leaderboys*
I agree with previous comments about the dbl serge skirt. It is AWESOME! I have the black, persimmon, and ochre. I just got them last week and have already worn the black 3x and the persimmon once. I haven't worn the ochre yet because I'm afraid it looks gross with my olive skin. I do love the color though and want to make it work. Definitely scoop them up at this price!

    *anon @ 2:23*

  124. Kat, Amelia, Amy, bkp - I absolutely agree about Pentagon City's horrible customer service. I have received eye-rolls and bored looks in response to perfectly reasonable questions about inventory. God forbid I should have to call and ask whether they have something in stock - I was on hold for almost ten minutes once, with no word of apology. Multiple times they have INSISTED that no stores received a certain item, when I have seen/purchased the same thing at other locations. I dread the experience each time I go there, and it's a completely disorganized mess. I like Tysons in terms of inventory and customer service, but nothing beats the Georgetown store in my book - other than slightly clueless kids at the checkout, the sales help is so friendly, polite and cheerful, and the store is very easy to navigate. Boo on PC, worth paying shipping and handling just to avoid their grief!

  127. Smarty - I would love to take the double serge ochre off your hands if you decide you can't make it work. Depending on the size, of course. All that is left on the website now is petite sizes. Not sure how that would work for me as I am 5'10". Wouldn't mind the skirt a bit shorter but I expect the tailoring wouldn't match up for petites. I understand it is more than just shortening the length.

  132. HELP! Anybody seen the Alpaca Kennedi in their store???

    Thanks-

  133. Wow, after reading about all the hassle that J. Crew shoppers are going through at the Pentagon City store, I have to give a shout-out to the J. Crew at Lenox Square Mall. I have always found them very friendly and professional, whether I am there to buy or to return. They've never given me any hassle about returning items, and they're always so helpful when I'm trying to track down a size or a style. My sales rep tonight was particularly helpful, as she was very knowledgeable about what sizes were left on certain sale items.

That being said, I have NOT had the same experience at the J. Crew at Perimeter Mall (also in Atlanta). But that's why I choose to shop at Lenox instead. :)

By the way, I had the opportunity to take a good look in person at the 'Cloud' necklace that is on sale online--it is GINORMOUS!! It looks so pretty and delicate online, but I think it would completely overwhelm most people--the beads are huge. I think the same design, with smaller beads, would have been very lovely.

  134. does anyone have the bubble necklace? it's been out for so long and been on sale for the same price for so long... but yet there are still 99 in inventory in both colors! so i really want to get it with this sale, but yet if it's been that long and there are still that many, surely it has to go deeper on sale soon?!

    ReplyDelete
  135. Do you guys think online will offer extra 30% off on sale items like the stores anytime soon?

  142. Anonymous 7:32-- I've been watching the bubble necklace since it came out and finally broke down during the 30% off sale items. I kept hoping to find a good deal on ebay, but they are still going for very close (if not over) $100. I ended up paying 69.99 (which is about what I wanted to pay) but then I had to pay shipping and they wouldn't apply my educator's discount. I was really annoyed about that. Is that really protocol now?

Anyway, the bubble necklace (I got turquoise) is beautiful---but it is huge. I love it and wore it today---got compliments on it all day. You got to have a certain amount of confidence to wear it because it does have that "look at me!" quality to it! LOL

I wore it with a papaya perfect long sleeve crewneck tee and salt colored bootcut cords. It really made the outfit!

  146. I went to Tyson's Store, VA last Saturday, so don't know how much my info is worth by now:)At that time they had 3/4 of the store on sale- 30% off sale and 25% card or 15% student/ed d/c ( but not the last 2 together). Depending on SA, they would or would not match prices to on-line. Baltimore is defnitely not matching anymore; new rule enforcement as many have mentioned before.
    Store had on sale;
    - Dresses: leopard silk, flannel Kates, Tailored wool rosette tank dress, few Sylvies in L opr XL,Isabella paisley halter dress
-Skirts; shimmer python ( 3 or 4, all in sz 8), taffeta A-line, duchess dot on sale, francies, metallic-flecked, silver twed ( a couple)

    - Accessories; leather gloves, knit gloves, scarves, rosette belts, fetaher belts, skinny metallic belts, hair bands, pj's bottoms, metallic Jamie bag, Thompson bags were on sale.
Coats; Lucinda, puffer vests, Madelines, Carries, large size Lilles, double serge Tuesday Trenches

Front of the store- new resort collection; cute, but nothing overly exciting

  148. Has anyone tried the sharkskin and the pembridge dot skirts? How do they run for you? I got the sharkskin (love the eggplant color), but it just seems to fit large. Is it just me or the cut? Also the pembridge dot looks so cute online but is of such a cheapish material and fits so small. Blah. Your experiences? BTW Jcrew in Montgomery Mall, Bethesda had a really poor selection of sale recently.

  149. Items just in...love the long seaside wave locket I recv'd today. fun with all the layered long necklaces! My new fav tees are the ringspun scoopneck painter tees-they fit perfect, not too tight and not too big-just perfect everywhere! I wore small and I have been known to wear xs in for instance the ringspun boatneck painter tee. Colors are also great--buying multiples at a BARGAIN price:)

Also recv'd the cashmere taffeta sash cardi (with ruffle neck) sweater. Thick cashmere that feels almost like cotton. Not like the pily type that's fuzzy but short cut if that makes sense. Perhaps that's why the sale price has stuck at $199 (it's nice!)but with discounts-decent price and fun little sweater! It does remind me of Issy though so I have to make a decision.

Still have fuschia victoria to be claimed in sold out sz 2 if anyone is interested before I return it...let me know.

Can anyone tell me where there might be a lot of double serge pencil skirts-looking for zero in ivory, ochre or black. Also the slate grey puffer vest xs or sm--anywhere with good selection of these items?TIA

Green Dino-this is prob too late but I LOVE the MAM (mini morning after) and that color is new to me but looks pretty fab! The only thing I would have to add though is that I feel like your first minkoff should be a yummy leather instead of patent (because no matter how fab the maker-patent will always be more stiff than a great smooshy, chewy leather and hers rock! Her stuff is pretty fab and the patent is prob pretty nice:) Let us minkettes know what you got (if you made the leap)! She is such a sweet person too--gotta love her. Go to the purse forum and look up Rebecca Minkoff--you will find many amazing threads on her and she even pops in and makes comments. Many of the celebs are carrying her gorgeous bags (if you are into that kinda thing;)

  150. Anon - the Michigan Ave., Chicago store had the alpaca Kennedi sweaters as of two days ago.

I agree that blade green is a gorgeous, not too bright green. I just received a cashmere boyfriend sweater in that color, and it's really pretty.

Also speaking of color, I received the peacock pencil skirt. It's gorgeous, and I'm definitely keeping it, but I thought it contained red from the picture. It's not red at all, but bright pink.

  153. Christina-thank you! Do you know how they run? I tried on a coat and small seemed good. I wore small in peacoat too. Not sure in vest if I could do xs though so it's nice and fitted. Anyone have thoughts on the puffer vests? TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  154. I wear a medium in the puffer vests, and I am typically a medium on top, size 10 on bottom. I typically wear a long-sleeve tee, or a thin sweater/sweatshirt under mine, and it fits comfortable. If you are debating between sizes, and planning to wear a thicker sweater or sweatshirt underneath it, I would go with the bigger size.

  155. I have to agree w/ the poster who said that the resort wear is overwhelming ~ it is pretty chilly in No.Calif.; having said that, the resort wear IS beautiful stuff, but, agree that it will be on clearance when it is finally warm enough to wear it locally. But, I noticed lots of people were buying it. The Mgr in the Walnut Creek store, as someone said, is the best.

*cringing when I say this* because hoping you didn't already possibly make leap but prob want to steer clear of morning after bag (MAB) as they are pretty darn big (hence the name--it is sized to keep enough stuff to stay out one night;) the MAM was developed after the love for MAB but sized down as perfect size for everyday. HTH

  157. kitchy7: I received the golden roses Renee coat, and i love it! I found that it ran small and had to size up. Usually i am in between sizes in jackets/coats, but in this one i am glad i bought the larger size. I splurged and bought the skirt too. (Apparently, i like this print. :) ) Wonder how silly it would look to wear the skirt and coat at the same time. :)

  158. Has anyone seen metallic guava Thompson tote IRL--is it like crackle pumps in metallic sherbet by chance? Is it blinding or nice? Thought it might be really great for work come Spring--ha! That's SO FAR AWAY;)

  159. Kitchy7-

Thanks soo much! I called Michigan Ave and they are shipping the Kennedi out to me. I really appreciate the help.

  160. RE: Sharkskin skirt--I am a 10 on bottom, 8 on top and I found that the 8 in this skirt fit me better because of the A-Line shape. In the 8, the waist band is right at my waist and pretty slim there at the top, but I think it made the shape better on me.

Just wanted to let you know I thought that it ran large too, or rather--the shape is better a bit smaller.

That said--great skirt for 39.99 plus discounts! I wore the silver with the Victoria in ivory and Metallic lulus for a recent party:)

  161. I don't see a whole lot of new stuff on sale at the retail, except for candy tees.

The pembroke runs a little smaller than the A line skirts like Belle. That seems to be the case with most thinner material pencil skirts. I take a size 6 with the belle, but even a size 8 in the pembroke seems tight. I don't think the fabric is cheap, it's just very thin. If you have any area in the tummy area don't bother with it. I ordered the black with gold dots and I think that's probably the most forgiving of all the colors.

I got the peacock maggie - was thinking of the pencil skirt too. The colors consist of 2 shades of green, a touch of yellow, fushia and purple on an off-white background. When I saw the coat on the hanger I was thinking that it's going to be WAY too busy. When I tried it on - it worked with ivory pants. The material is thinner so I can actually roll the sleeves up which was very difficult to do with the double serge maggie.

I got the bria in olive green (only color on sale) and it's very pretty.

BTW, J Crew is shipping stuff superfast nowadays. Or at least is generating the shipment notification faster so that they can charge.

  162. Puffer vests... I decided to try one out since they came to under fifty with the sale. The main reason I wanted one was the sherpa lining! I knocked one off of its hanger and touched it and it was just scrumptiously cozy. The colors were all nice, and I like a vest for going to and from the rec center. So I got the pinky red, rhubarb I guess and I think it may go back to the store. The quality seems decent, but the fit seems to be really small. The tightness in the chest and the longer length plus puffy body equal an unflattering fit. The down fill is really warm and squooshy, and seems to be a high fill power for the price. Since I'd mainly be wearing it pre and post workout, with a long sleeve layer underneath I think it would be on the too warm side. The other thing I find unflattering is the seam placement. The lower portion of the vest is nice, a flattering chevron seam, but the top three quarters have horizontal seams which is even more widening. But it is nice and cozy and looks aren't everything, right? Boy, the more I write about it the more I realize I am not crazy about it. Today I got the sherpa hoodie at my B&M for eleven dollars, and that should fulfill my sherpa lust. Com to think of it, that runs so small as well. It seems like these thicker lined items simply weren't cut to accomodate the substantial extra bulk the sherpa adds. The hoodie does have a bit of give, whereas the vest does not. If you get the vest, do size up but mine is totally going back to the store.

I saw the metallic guava tote IRL last night. It is a similar shade to the crackle sherbet, though a TINY bit more pink (really, just a little bit). I think it is a great color for spring! HTH!

Anyone have the long Fabienne high heeled boots item 95936-fit TTS? Comfort factor?

    ReplyDelete
  169. I thought the fabienne boots were a tad big, but with thicker socks it works. I still haven't worn it out but while trying it on at home I think it should be OK. The toe around is round, so it's not a problem. The heel height is reasonable. The only thing is like most J Crew shoes it's not particularly cushioned well.

BTW, a bit slouchy as there's no zipper on the side.

I got it because I wanted a gray pair of boots, and that gray color is similar to the dark cloud/fog color.

    ReplyDelete
  170. *bug pin*
I just received the long Fabienne high heel boots last night. I LOVE the look but they are going back. The lack of zipper makes them VERY slouchy on my leg (my calf is big enough to fill out the boot, so I can't pull them up any less slouchy, if that makes sense). They are a challenge to get on, but once on seemed pretty comfortable in terms of height and width. I'd say TTS.

  171. kat, amelia, amy, bkp - COMPLETELY agree with everyone about pentagon. they are miserable. i have NEVER gotten any type of good service. everytime i go in there i feel like they all are eyeing me and definitely talking about me the second i leave. btw i returned something there last week WITH a recepit the SA told me for returns they ONLY give gift cards. how about yeah right!
and one time a girl told me to look up on my phone to get the price for a shirt without a tag. are you kidding me?

  172. NEW promo is on the site!

20% off all markdowns, free shipping $125+.

Definitely not as good as the most recent, but at least it's something!

  173. PUFFER VEST:
totally agree with anon at 12:17pm -- I really wanted to love the puffer vest bc of the lining, but the horiz stripes on top (when compared to the finer chevron of the bottom) made it look not so great on me. I have skinny arms and a small frame and it looked sloppy somehow. maybe next year they'll do chevron all over.

    STACKING:
fyi the SA in my store said that there was a meeting about applying the additional sale % off + 25% reusable card + student/educator's policy. You can't apply the student discount anymore -- so those of us who did get the stacked sale + 25% + 15% lucked out (and if your store is still doing it, be grateful!)

ORDER UPDATE: i also got a crewcuts item instead of a women's item today. SA on the phone was supernice though and I'm getting used to items with low availability not showing up. I did get the frankie bag in guava rhubarb and am really liking it a lot more than i thought. It's a beigey pink, a la "dusty rose" belt but matte, and the brassey gold hardware is not at all blingy like i feared! leather smells yummy, and a great size. There's a nice slit pocket in the front for subway passes, notes etc. but the bag is zippered, so it's (thank goodness) secure for the plane, throwing around without having your stuff fall out. The zipper is the only thing i would change - it's kinda rough. Def worth the $91, though.

  174. I returned a black metallic houndstooth clea sz0 tonight at Palo Alto. It was right before closing so if you call in the morning, hopefully they can do a charge-send for the current price. Good luck!

  175. Anon 10:15--
The sharkskin skirt is slightly on the big side IMO. I'm a size 4 in Jcrew cords and jeans, and the size 2 sharkskin skirt fit slightly loose in the waist on me. It was fine worn low on my waist, but thought it looked better a bit higher and fitted since I was planning on wearing it with my elizabeth halter (tucked.) Since it needed to be tailored and I wasn't in LOVE with it, I sent it back

  176. Argyle cashmere carigan with crystal buttons runs TTS! I got it the other day and it is a pretty tight fit for my usual XS! No need to size down!

    ReplyDelete
  177. Hey, thanks for the info on the sharkskin ( I loved it so much in the pictures, I bought both the eggplant and buttercup). To my dissapointment, I was swimming in my typical size, 2. I think I may try a 0 per your suggestion. Thanks you guys.

    ReplyDelete
  178. Guys, are the eggplant and metallic sharkskin at your B&M jcrews 39.99 as well as the buttercup? Online only buttercup is 39.99 right now. Hmm.

  179. I went to the Palo Alto store last night and the sale section was big but pretty picked over. Lots of the same stuff, in the usual prices. :) The sherpa hoodies were more expensive than the $20 some people have been quoting though.

  180. The San Diego store is having an additional 30% off sale right now as well. I was there last night and got a few things. In the resort wear section, though, they have a new top that's similar to the Lydia - super cute! I tried it on in an ivory color and really liked it. They come in number sizes (instead of S, M, L) so the fit is better than the Lydia. The top is $88.

I wrote recently about an order that shipped without a tracking number and I did receive it on Wednesday (shipped on Saturday - and I live in San Diego, so that's pretty good for J. Crew).

    ReplyDelete
  181. Oh! I commented earlier in this posting about the Feather Chiffon Dress - does anyone have this dress? I'd love to know what it's like IRL...

  182. Anonymous at 11:10 PM - I agree with you about the fast shipping! I just checked my order (which I place on Wednesday afternoon) and it was delivered today at noon! Keep in mind I live in DC so it doesn't have far to travel, but it still arrived much quicker than I thought. Now, hopefully all of my items (including the Maggie in camel) are in the box!

  187. I just got THE BEST DEALS at my B&M tonight. They were having extra 30% off sale, plus 30% off your entire purchase if you spent $200. So... I got a Madeline Coat in the red color for $112, Matchstick Cords in brown for $20, PJ pants and tissue hoodies for $15 each and some other great deals!! I'm really pumped! Didn't even need to use my 25% off red card that I got in the mail.

Also, today in the mail my husband got a $25 off any $100 purchase at JCrew if you use your AMEX card (sent to him from AMEX, not JCrew) so that was a surprise! Anyone else get that?

  188. Update on my request for info on the: Argyle cashmere cardigan with crystal buttons. Tried it on at my store today and the XS arms were SO tight. My arms are not big so just an FYI. The small fit better--it really is gorgeous!

    ReplyDelete
  189. I have to disagree on argyle cashmere cardi with crystal buttons. It fits absolutely TTS. My XS didnt make me feel tight in the arms! But yes, it is gorgeous!

  190. I just got back from B&M - great deals! 30% off all sale items, plus my red card 25% off AND my student 15% off. it was so good that i went back for a few items for myself... but then that register person didn't let me use my student discount (booo).

  191. My B&M is having 30% off sale as well. I got some navy tights for $5, two beautiful dress shirts for $10.49 each, one was originally $65 and the other $60, and some snowflake PJ's on sale for $22 after using my 25% off card. That was quite a steal, but I think after this and my HOHOHO Maggie that I am done shopping until after Christmas!

  192. I just got back from the 5th Ave J.Crew in NYC. Only shopping for gifts/clients this week but I saw the following:

    - plenty of cashmere argyle v-neck sweaters in all sizes
    - double-serge pencil skirt, bronze ochre, size 8 x3
    - plenty of sequin tees of all varities
    - a few simone cardigans (I own the navy and LOVE it)
    - a pair of juliets in sz 8 blanched almond on sale for $80
    - Madeline coats in ivory & red, not sure about what sizes
    - bought the Cloud Necklace as a gift and I have to say it is GORGEOUS. Also much bigger in real life.

Also I placed a red phone order and tried to combine the red 25% off card and the 20% off/free shipping card...no dice even though I was ordering things that were normally available in-store.

    ReplyDelete
  193. Where is everyone getting the reusable 25% off card. I want one. :)

    ReplyDelete
  194. sharkbait8574: I noticed that the SA's have a barcode behind the counter they can use to scan for the 25%...I didn't even have to show my card (still did), and the SA had already scanned his card. I would mention you want to get the 25% off on top of your purchases, and see what they say. Btw...most of the cards came in the mail.
