Weekly Share: Other JCrew-like Retailers

This is the weekly "Other JCrew-like Retailers" post (similar to the "Off On A Tangent" posts), where we can share our finds from other retailers that have offerings similar to J.Crew (like LE Canvas, Gap, BR, Talbots, Ann Taylor, and the like.)

    I placed my first order with Boden since I've moved to NY and they must think I am a new customer (I hadn't placed an order in 2 or 3 years) because they sent me an adorable little notebook/journal with my order. It really made a good impression!

    interested in some LLBean blazers. Any notes on sizing? I'm tall and thin, usually around 0T or 2T at JCrew. i'm worried they might be too short.

    I tries on Talbots Kate fit Shetland jacket today in the green color which is actually similar to Robins Egg blue and I loved it. Super cute and the fit was great

    @ Marisa-- you might be sized out of LLB's regular line :( I wear a J Crew sz.2, and many of LLB sz.xs are still too big, and in many things they don't even offer sz.2. And you're right, they'll prob. be too short. I'm 5'9" and the sleeves are always too short on things there. Have you tried LL Bean Signature? They have a more modern fit.

    If you want something like JC's Martina patent wedges, take a look at Vera Wang Lavender "Monique" which comes in black and latte patent colors. http://www.zappos.com/vera-wang-lavender-label-monique-latte-patent The price is $225. for the black and $250 for the nude but you get a much better shoe, I've bought both at Zappos and Nordstrom.

    There are black suede wedges everywhere, Tory Burch has the suede Sally wedge in black, grey, navy and camel sold at Nordstrom, Saks and Neiman Marcus for $265. http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/tory-burch-sally-2-wedge/3215410?origin=category&resultback=0 If you sign up for Saks emails, you get an email promo invite for 10% off your first order in a day or two.

    JC has priced everything so high that the designers are a better alternative for the quality of the shoe you get and these all have wedge heights around 2 1/2".

    I've bought no JC shoes this fall. First time ever but the quality for the price are making no sense.

    Now that JC is pricing cashmere at $200., I'm looking at designer there too. I would rather have two beautiful Vince sweaters than three pilly JC ones. Did you see the double breasted jacket sweater? Really?!
    I saw this gorgeous sweater at Nordstrom and am waiting for Netaporter to deliver it (no tax):

    @egyptomaniac, doesn't look good if the sleeves are too short for you at 5'9", i'm 6'!! i'm always amazed when stores carry petite but not longs :(
