Will you be checking out the Sale section? Are there any items you are hoping to see or to get?
Yay, finally! I was waiting for this. :)
ReplyDeleteI refuse to buy on final sale just holding out until I can return items and final sale goes away

ReplyDeleteAny reviews of the Perry peeptoes? They went on sale quickly.
ReplyDeleteany reviews of the Greta Suede Wedges #43435? :>
ReplyDeleteThe cashmere ribbed sweater is down to $132 with the sale. At a five gauge knit I'm wondering if it might be worth it. Anyone have any thoughts?
ReplyDeleteI was up late last night and poked around, but there was no restock, so I'm going to wait it out and see if there's a bump sometime soon. I had a few things in my cart, but the $8.95 in shipping charges prevented me from pulling the trigger. You don't win with extra 30% off unless you can hit the free ship min, IMO.
ReplyDeleteIt is maddening how they never do big updates during extra % off sale.
ReplyDeleteWith the extra % there's only one thing I truly want, but I only end up saving $10 due to shipping. Here's to hoping I'll be able to score my size/color when the additional % hits the stores.
ReplyDeleteNothing for me this round. I'm so tired of final sale.
ReplyDeletesub
ReplyDeleteI'm also curious about the cashmere ribbed sweater--does anybody know how it fits--is it boxy and short like it looks in the picture? It's never made its way into NYC stores, as is infuriatingly typical of most J. Crew stock today.
ReplyDeleteCan anyone tell me the fit of the Featherknit stripe boatneck tee? Is it TTS? That shirt looks like it could run big.
ReplyDeleteI hate no free shipping. :(
Will the store match the final sale price?

ReplyDeleteFor those that are interested in the cashmere ribbed sweater, I think it's the same sweater as the one on the net-a-porter site...they have a pic of the model wearing it in a few different poses...HTH!
ReplyDelete(it's the only thing I'm interested in too...)
ETA: Nevermind...looks like the net-a-porter model is wearing an xs...which means I would have to size down and they don't have the orange in a small...and to top it off, it's a final sale item - not worth it for me since so many photos are showing different fits, some beautiful, some wonky. Never did see it in the store either - bleh JCrew, way to unload stuff.
Stores generally don't match onlne prices--you can ask but it's unusual at best.
ReplyDeleteDaniBP -- I have the ribbed cashmere sweater...I was the chump who bought it early at full price! :p
ReplyDeleteThe shape is definitely boxy. I wouldn't say it was oversized, but in my regular sweater size (S) it did have a more casual, roomy look to it. I sized down to an XS so that it would be slightly more fitted as I intend to wear it over a collared shirt and want it to appear more shrunken, if that makes any sense.
The length is a bit shorter than "normal" sweaters, in keeping with the straight, boxy cut. The sleeves are long and the cuffs are very long, but the idea is to roll them back. One thing to note: the arms are not ribbed, only the body of the sweater is. This didn't bother me at all, but it might be an issue for some.
I really like this sweater and I've seen other variations of it a lot this season (most recently at Burberry). I'm annoyed that I jumed too quickly and paid full price for it!
HTH!
This is not such a great sale, some of the sweaters eg: Lady Popover is the same price no markdown. I could have purchased it in the 30% off sweater sale for the same price, got free shipping and it would not have been Final Sale. Passing on this one unless prices go down and/or they add free shipping. Plus saving my money for the outwear discount, that I have my fingers crossed for. Word verification is deasms...should that be dreams????
ReplyDeleteHi Clicquot,
ReplyDeleteThanks so much that's very helpful.
I love the colors offered: the heather caramel and the classic pine in particular. I had stopped buying JCrew cashmere but I can't afford Brora this year and I'd like a couple of casual sweaters to wear with bootcut corduroy pants.
It sound like this sweater could be the ticket!
Audball, thanks for the net-a-porter tip, I'm going to go over there and check it out!
Thanks Clicquot and Audball.
ReplyDeleteAudball -- I will tell my husband it's your fault I bought a purse off of Net-a-Porter just moments ago! I never go to that site but after you mentioned other photos of that cashmere sweater, off I went. Where I spied the Bond Street Leather Tote and fell in love at first sight.
ReplyDeleteIt's not on the regular JC site yet; I'll post reviews of it next week!
I've had the store match the online price in the past. Haven't tried it lately, though. It may be worth a try.
ReplyDeleteClicquot: Thanks for the info on the sweater..I may bite in another color, but we're trying to save for a new car. I keep picturing myself in a new sweater, *in* the new car -- is that bad? haha!
ReplyDeleteRe. the tote: Uh Oh! ;D Tell your DH I have succumbed more than once to advice on this blog. When my DH sees the header now he says, "Okay..now what are you buying?!" Congrats! It's beautiful!
DaniBP, Moya: You're welcome! Since net-a-porter took on JCrew items, I tend to check them more often for collection pieces and higher-priced items. I don't think they do quite as much fiddling with the fit on the models and I do appreciate the multi-angle shots.
how does the cashmere shawl collar sweater run? I'm tempted.
ReplyDeleteCould anyone tell me how the long Arabelle dress fits? Is it TTS?
ReplyDeleteRe: sizing of the featherknit stripe boatneck tee ... it runs TTS, imo. I was also worried it might run big, but I took a chance and ordered my usual size and it fits just fine. HTHs!
ReplyDeleteClicquot: Just out of curiosity, isn't the Bond St. Leather Tote bag on Net-a-porter also the Rigby Hobo on the J.Crew website?
ReplyDeleteUgh, I am the chump who bought the Flair skirt for full price, and then saw it go to final sale less than a week later and now it's an additional 30% off. At least I got the price adjustment for the first markdown. :-(
They will match the online price (have done it a few times recently) but I don't know if they'll match the online price plus the current discount being offered.
ReplyDeleteI went for two pair of Café Capris (34629), dried rose and desert ($27.50). I have a pair now that I live in so I’m not afraid of what I may be receiving.
ReplyDeleteI also bought a really beautiful Lomellina one-piece one-shoulder ruched tank 35718)in vintage claret for $27.50. This will be great for my honeymoon next year. I decided to suck it up and pay the shipping because I feel better about $9 they I do filling my cart with closet space-takers to reach $175.
I just want to mention I had a great online personal shopper experience. I recieved my floral Flair skirt only a week ago, and since then it dropped in price, and now this sale. I contacted her and she made the "one-time courtesy adjustment" for me. It saved me a return/re-buy situation. I'm thrilled, as I was fine with paying FP for one of my favorite rollout pieces.
ReplyDeleteThanks Elaine! It is a great price right now...but grr for no free shipping!
ReplyDeleteLouise -- Make room for me in the chump boat, I bought the Flair skirt FP too!
ReplyDeleteAnd I think you're right about the Rigby being the same as the Bond St. hobo. The JC site is having issues right now so I only got a quick check, but it looks identical. I seldom shop JC bags, so this one really jumped out at me on the net-a-porter site. I love the colour!!

ReplyDeleteHi Clicquot, The rigby is the bond street bag, in the windsor grey. I have it in that shade and I LOVE it! It is the nicest bag, a perfect neutral that goes with everything and is really easy to carry either by hand or on the shoulder.
ReplyDeleteI think you'll be pleased.
I like the way net-a-porter lays out the items, it all seems so streamlined, a real "capsule collection" effect.
Good spotting on that bag Louise!

ReplyDeleteThanks, DaniBP! Glad to hear such a positive review :). I've had my eye out for a neutral coloured bag for fall/winter (not black), and recently saw someone on TV with a smashing similar-shaped and -coloured hobo, and I coveted it. The Rigby/Bond is very close in both regards.
ReplyDeleteQuick question: do the double serge wool pencil skirts ever go on sale? I tried on the in-store teal one yesterday and loved it, but the price is more than I ever pay for skirts.
ReplyDeleteLauren PhD: Rarely do the "good" colors go on sale. You might get lucky and snag one in your size, but historically the only ones that stick around in the sale section are blacks, grays, and other neutral colors. At least that has been my experience. All of my colorful pencil skirts I bought full price (w/educator discount) and was happy I did because they never made it to sale in my size/color combo. HTH!
ReplyDeleteLaurenPD,
ReplyDeleteI think it all depends on what size you wear. I have managed to get mine on sale as I chose not to spend that much for a skirt. Just me; on super sale or not. Go with your budget:)or splurge depending on your means:)
Can anyone comment on the brilliant pine Jackie or the getaway green dream cable cardigan? I'm looking for a dark emeraldy-green, not teal-ish nor olive-y (how's that for inspired color descriptions?), but those two shades look different depending on the computer screen or the catalog photo.
ReplyDeleteLauren, it's VERY rare that I say this, but the double-serge pencil skirts are worth what they cost. If you're a skirt-wearer, you'll wear them to DEATH. But Appgal is right -- usually the bright colors go first, and last year the black and gray ones popped up on sale here and there.
ReplyDeleteClicquot-
ReplyDeleteWould you mind one more question about the ribbed cashmere crewneck? You mentioned it is a bit shorter-I'm 5'4, would you say it is likely to hit at the waist? (the fisherman sweater and cashmere cable both hit at the waist on me, but the hadley sweater was too long). Thanks!
Kris, I'm just shy of 5'5" and the sweater hits me at about the top of my hip/pelvic bone. I would say it's similar to the length of the Fisherman sweater, maybe a touch shorter.
ReplyDeleteClicquot, thank you!
ReplyDeleteLauren PhD: Yep, I agree with Elaine. They are worth full price or at least close to it. I do wear mine ALL THE TIME when the weather turns cold so I feel like I have gotten my money's worth out of them. If you have your eye on the teal, which is an in-store only color, I would snag it fast because the in-store only colors go even faster.
ReplyDeleteUgh, all of the FS stuff I had in my cart last night sold out this morning with the extra 30% off promo. For those of you who snagged a Doria dress, Saunter shorts, or a Shortcut sweater....no hard feelings, but I am jealous!!
ReplyDeleteI'm ordering crewcuts for my niece and nephew and most is on promo so I can return if it doesn't work. :) I refuse to buy for me due to the $9 shipping. I don't want to order extra stuff that I'll have to return just to get free shipping.
ReplyDeleteThe cashmere shawl sweater fit a bit odd on me -- the sleeves were really tight (tighter than the dream sweater) and then there was a lot of excess fabric under the arms. I was trying on an XXS, which I find in general fits much worse than J Crew's old XS...
ReplyDeleteI need help with something that's not at all related to the topic at hand. Does anyone know what the heck I'm supposed to do if USPS tracking info has tracked a package right to my door and it says 'delivered' but I never received it? :( Luckily it wasn't something I spent a lot of money on, but I'm very upset that it's gone missing. I know the carriers don't scan the packages until they're at your door, so what could have happened?
ReplyDeleteArrrgggghhhh. I am so sad. I don't even care about getting the money back, I just wanted what was in the package! :(
JanAlyssa, the long Arabelle dress fits TTS but does not leave a great amount of room for larger busted girls. Also, I found the petite sizes seemed approx 1/2 size smaller than regular sizes but almost the same length in body.
ReplyDeleteElaine: I had almost the same thing happen to me. My package was "out for delivery" and just never arrived. Unfortunately, the package contained the dress I wore at my wedding reception and the person who sent it did not insure it. If you live in an apartment then I would talk to your leasing office first. Then check your package tracking and see which post office the mail carrier was coming from. You need to call them and explain what happened so they can talk to the mail carrier. Make sure you get the name of who you are speaking to. Also, call 1800ASKUSPS and make a complaint. They can open an investigation, but make sure you get the number for the investigation so that you can refer back to it. I also made a complaint through the USPS website (which was basically ignored). I made multiple calls every other day for several weeks only to be told that someone probably just walked away with the package. It's important to be persistent and to get the names of the people you talk to. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI needed this.
ReplyDeleteElaine, by any chance is your order from Amazon? When I used to send my dad gifts to his apartment, they always got stolen because the delivery person would leave all packages sitting next to the mail boxes. When this happened to something I ordered from Amazon, I contacted them and they sent another, no charge, even though it wasn't their fault that it was stolen.
ReplyDeleteElaine: I've had this happen with USPS before and the package randomly showed up at my door a few days later. It was very strange. Definitely call your post office.
ReplyDeleteIf they lost it or someone "walked off with it", contact the website you ordered from (J. Crew or whoever) and explain what happened...I had an American Apparel package lost/probably stolen and they sent me a new order after I e-mailed them.
I miss 30% plus free shipping, no min.
ReplyDeleteElaine, someone probably stole it. It's horrible that anyone would do that... one time I sold a pair of my shoes on eBay and they got stolen from the buyer's doorstep. It was really sucky because she really had no recourse. I hope it magically appears... that has also happened to me before! The postal service works in mysterious ways sometimes.
ReplyDeleteRe: double serge pencil skirts...
I don't agree that the pencil skirts are worth full price but, then again, I'm cheap. I have snagged nordic blue, persimmon, bronzed ochre, cinnamon stick, plum, and all the other "good" colors on sale for $40-$70 in sizes 4 and 6 which I think are pretty popular. But I'm pretty diligent (obsessive) and several were found in store. If you don't NEED them, I'd wait.
bellisima, I just bought the brilliant pine Jackie on Saturday. There is absolutely no teal or olive in it. It is pretty much straight up pine green but lighter. Could be called a dark emerald, definitely. It's pretty!
ReplyDeleteBit the bullet and got the Elodie and a couple of other things today. Thanks to the JCAs who gave me a better idea of what the Elodie was like IRL, since my local store was only carrying the Blythe.
ReplyDelete@Elaine, call USPS (or go to the local post office/distribution center), as some other poster suggested and if you have the tracking number or if the item had delivery confirmation they should be able to tell you where the item was dropped off. Hope you find your package!
Regarding the Featherknit stripe boatneck tee, item 44909, I also agree it runs tts. I ordered one size down & the upper part of the sleeve was uncomfortably tight, and the shirt just didn't look right.
ReplyDeleteOh Elaine I hope your package shows up! I actually had UPS lose one of my JC packages with about$200.00 worth of merchandise inside. As my dad was just arriving at my house a woman pulled up and handed my dad my package. She found it in the street more than 3 streets over from my house! I was floored! It is so nice to know that there ARE still decent people in this world!
ReplyDeleteThanks y'all -- I live in a regular ol' house, and as you can imagine, I'm on a first-name basis with the postman, thanks to my swaps and eBay activities, hehehehe!
ReplyDeleteI just can't understand what may have happened -- it was checked off as having been delivered on Saturday, and we were HERE on Saturday, I received other packages on that day, and I know I don't have this one!
My guess is that it was delivered to the wrong house. Why wouldn't someone bring it over? Boo hoo! :( It had a Hurricanes hockey jersey in it for my son. I'd snagged it on eBay for $10, which is about as much as I'd pay for one for a 6-y-o who will probably ruin it the second time he wears it, arrgghhh.
Could be worse. Could have been an expensive piece of clothing. *sigh* Thanks y'all, I'm going to follow up w/USPS and hope it shows up!
Just to let you know, SA's at my B&M store will order the items over the red phone for me, give me the 30% off discount AS WELL AS my 15% off student discount AND free shipping no matter what the amount! I'm sure this probably shouldn't be allowed, but it may help someone out if you ask :)
ReplyDeleteGot another vintage v-neck (can't have enough!) and a pair of cafe capris in natural. I'm hoping I like the color, but for $13, I'm not too worried about it!
ReplyDeleteSubscribing. :)
ReplyDeleteOnline 30% final sale extended to Thursday. Yay?... Have been watching the flair skirt in floral rose (like everyone and their mom). $175 for free shipping is ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteAnyone have fit information on the Merino Bomber Jacket (46748)?
ReplyDeleteOT, but it looks like an ivory with camel trim version of the Tipped Hacking Jacket may be in our future... the model is wearing it with her waverly chinos here
ReplyDeleteLooks much more wearable than the ivory with citron trim version from 2007!
jcrewjd-- nice catch! Love that combo!
