ReplyDeleteLove that there are new markdowns in the sale section, hate that they go to FS on first markdown (and therefore off my wish list).
ReplyDeleteSorry to go OT but this is something I love and sort of related to J.Crew.
ReplyDeleteI thought JCAs may be interested in this Financial Post article that says Canada's Finance Minister has asked the senate finance committee to investigate the price discrepancies between the same products sold in Canada and the U.S. since Canadians are paying significantly more and our dollar has been at par, or higher for some time now.
It's not specific to J.Crew of course, but I do happen to know that the Finance Minister was alerted to the J.Crew price gouging fiasco that recently took place. ;^) Let's see if anything ever comes of it. Price parity? That is something I would really love.
xoxo that is interesting!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link.

ReplyDeleteI love that Ebates is offering 8% cash back on J. Crew purchases!
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to give some love to the sales associates at the J.Crew at the mall in Buckhead. I spent about 90 minutes there on Sunday and every single one of them was friendly, polite, and attentive, without
ReplyDeletehovering. They also looked SO adorable in their new fall gear!
I think J. Crew should take note that the "Vent" posts always have at least 5x as many comments as the "Love" posts.
ReplyDeletexoxo -- I heard that the other day and was DEE-lighted! Made me think of JC and wondered if the recent outcry had anything to do with Flaherty's move.
ReplyDeletesilver lining,
ReplyDeleteI know. I am not buying anything from J.Crew right now b/c of the straight from regular price to final sale! Crazy.
I'm kind of amazed right now. I'm trying to track down a bridesmaid dress for a girl in my bridal party (everyone else in the party has their dresses, so I can't change the color now). I saw the dress in the sale area of the website about a week ago, but it's gone now.
ReplyDeleteI called the wedding consultant line and spoke with a Stephanie (there is more than one of them, wish I knew her last name) who went way out of her way to track down the dress.
She wound up putting a "wish list" request in for me and she said that since I called during the LOVEIT promo, I'll get 30% off when they track it down. She said it usually takes them a few weeks to find a dress.
Isn't that nice?
I am in loooove with the Pebble Seraphina Dress that arrived yesterday! I got the natural/black color combo and the dress is just stunning. I can't wait to wear it to a wedding I have in mid-Oct. I couldn't pull it out of the box fast enough. I love the construction, I love the pattern and the details, and I know no one else will be wearing it. Now I just have to hope that I don't get anything on myself, lol.
ReplyDeleteI was glad I did a little homework before I bought it so I knew it ran smallish in the bust. Happy I stuck with a 10 and not an 8; I'd never have been able to zip up the 8.
I found the Cashmere Blouse at the clearance store today. SO EXCITED!!! Today, I love J.Crew for having the clearance stores. They enable to me own pieces I cannot afford at full retail that often have nothing wrong with them/just a button missing that I can easily fix.
ReplyDeleteI also love my cashmere stripe sweater dress because I have worn it for two 16 hour days and it has not pilled AT ALL. I am shocked, but happy!
Jeannine, they have tons of the bridesmaid dresses at the Clearance stores. Might be worth a call. They are usually $70.
ReplyDeletejcrewjd, did they have any of the cashmere blouses in small sizes left, or was it a one-off? how is the fit/drape/thickness? TIA!
ReplyDeleteI ordered a bridesmaid dress online for a friends wedding. It was a little bit big and I took it back to the my local store. The staff was so helpful on giving me advice on whether to exchange for a smaller size or just get it altered. I ended up exchanging it and they helped make the process go so smoothly with contacting the corporate warehouse for me and facilitating the entire transaction so smoothly!
ReplyDeleteCliquot, I really hope something comes of it. The senate finance committee looked into eliminating the penny and apparently that report has been sitting on Minister Flaherty's desk for almost two years already. I mean really, it's not like he's busy or anything. :^P
ReplyDeleteThere was only one cashmere blouse... total fluke. Maybe they will get another, who knows! I haven't seen it in person yet as I had my mom pick it up for me but she said it has really nice tailoring and is extremely soft. I cannot wait to get it!
ReplyDelete@JCrewJD I'm in Charlottesville and called both Lynchbug stores. The Milrace store as a chiffon Matisse Blue dress, but it won't work. I didn't think to call the Asheville store...im not quite willing to drive six hours just yet.
ReplyDeleteAt the Charlottesville Warehouse Sale, I went first think on the first day and got five dresses...just couldn't find the size 8 Selma or Lorelei for one of the girls. I even went back a few times since they were replenishing twice per week. They brought in more spec occasion, but no Matisse Blue.
If you mean the outlets, let e know. I stopped going to the JC outlet because there was such a difference in quality.
J.Crew's bridesmaid dresses are amazing. I have a bunch of cecilia and hope silk tricotines, in tons of colors, and ericas as well and I wear them to work and get so many compliments. I wore a bunch pregnant too, in larger sizes. I was tempted by the liquid silk skirt until I wore my navy hope in a size 2 (I am a P0 but bought the 2 for maternity wear) and wore a jacket on top - it twirled like the liquid silk sqkirt! And I got it for $40!
ReplyDeleteBring back more silk tricotine J Crew!
I got my popback Paillette t-straps (did they qualify for "extreme" popback?) and I was amazed that they were in absolutely perfect condition. Generic box and no bag, but for $139 that's OK. So my thanks to J Crew and also to the person who returned them in perfect condition, if they were a customer return.
ReplyDeletetamara.chicago, that's awesome that they arrived in perfect condition! Yay! I always wonder about the mysterious generic shoebox... I recently ordered the Minnetonka deerskin moccasins in two colors. One came in the "real" Minnetonka box and the other in the generic J.Crew box... but they aren't a popback. It's odd. I wonder what happened to the original box?
ReplyDeleteAlso, I take back what I said about the cashmere stripe sweater dress. It is still not pilling but I discovered a HOLE under the left arm after 2 days of wearing. The seam just totally came undone :(
Jeannine, you may be able to just call them in NC and see what they have. I wouldn't mind picking up a dress and mailing it to you, if they had one you could use, since I know they don't do direct sending to customers.
ReplyDeleteemilyeeg at gmail dot com is my contact!
Love my PS! She found me the Cashmere Rugby stripe sweater in vibrant camel which was backordered online through the end of October. It has been shipped and will be here early next week. Hopefully it fits and is soft...I'm so excited :)
