This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)
If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SUMMER sale, or to see some new FALL arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!
Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)
P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!
No trip for me 'cause I went yesterday. Lots of favorite tanks for $9.99 and perfect-fit tees for $14.99. My B&M did have a lone plumage vest (!) marked to $149.99 - after seeing it every day in FS it was weird to see it IRL. It was not as plush as the picture - the "feathers" looked kind of sparse and it was easy to see the merino vest pieces underneath. Definitely didn't look worth $150, much less $595!
ReplyDeleteSub:)
ReplyDeleteA bunch of things are marked down in store but not online, like the Lucinda blouse. Also further markdowns in store, like the Jardin skirt and the Buttonbox-sweater are now $39.99 and the Fair Isle vest is now $19.99. The Patsy dress is $10 cheaper in store ($69.99, not the $79.99 online). But as of yesterday, the Floral Flair skirt is not on sale in store. I posted about it on my blog, shoppingonthefly. Happy browsing!
ReplyDeleteI am finally. Hope there's a vest on my future!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to a madewell store for the first time ever this weekend... kinda excited! May go to J.Crew too but, eh. I bought the patsy dress and there is not much else I want besides a new double serge pencil skirt or two.
ReplyDeleteI am finally going this weekend and next. I'll be in the U.S. for a business trip and will be able to visit J.Crew in two Southern cities. Looking forward to fit and quality adjudication *before* buying.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone seen a No. 2 Pencil Skirt In Double Serge Wool in Jazzy Purple size 0/2?
ReplyDeleteNo. I am still standing firm and holding out for an outerwear promo. Hopefully J.Crew's goofy inventory will hold up until then. I am still bitter that the Majesty Peacoat in peony is sold out in a size 2. I called and the SA said the computer does not show that they will be replenishing their stock on that. So silly....oh well. Have a great weekend, JCAs!
ReplyDeleteCan't make it to a B&M this weekend. Family events holding me back from shopping.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend everyone!
Does anyone know if the paisley print scarf (the same pattern as the paisley pencil skirt from this summer) is on sale? The last time I went they were only $10 off. Thanks!
ReplyDeletejcrewphd - If you're referring to the orange and blue paisley scarf, I just purchased one this past Monday, and it was still full price minus the $10 off promo. Hope that helps!
ReplyDeleteNicole -- why not call CS and see if they can do a We Will Find It For You search for the peacoat? I've had great luck that way finding out of stock items.
ReplyDeleteHi @dinster! Do you happen to remember the price of the Lucinda in stores? TIA!
ReplyDeleteemmawasabi - I believe it was $59.99 for the black and peach colors.
ReplyDeleteNot this weekend, but I'm headed to NYC next weekend, so probably one of my first stops will be the J. Crew in Rockefeller Centre. I must hold on to my wallet until then. Can't wait!!
ReplyDeleteOT, I saw on SITM that Brooks Brothers has a 25% off F&F sale going on now...I was wondering if anyone knows if this applies in store and if so if you have an email announcing the sale that you can fwd me to print and take to the store...
ReplyDeletefemme55@hotmail.com
My bf needs a new suit and won't buy online. :) Thanks!
Cass, I'll forward you my email.
ReplyDeleteThanks @silver_lining!
ReplyDeleteCan't decide between the Lucinda and the Elodie. Can anyone comment? I'm a little worried because the Elodie is sized L and the Lucinda is sized in numbers. Since these are Final Sale items, I don't want to pull the trigger just yet.
I know that the Downtown Field Jacket has received lots of love from the JCAs. Thinking about stopping by J. Crew this weekend and buying it (ugh - at full price!). For those of you in possession of this jacket - were any of you able to score it with a great price, last year? I'm debating whether to bite on it now or wait for a sale! Thanks! =)
ReplyDeleteSorry, one more thing - does anyone know if the outlet version is identical to the retail version? The downtown field jacket...Thank you!
ReplyDeleteNicole, I second Clicquot's suggestion about calling Customer Service to have them track the peacoat down for you. I held off buying the Winnie dress, hoping for a promo, and then they were sold out of my size online and at the two stores in my area when I checked on Monday. My PS tracked it down, and it arrived it my house today!
ReplyDeleteHope they find it for you, that coat is gorgeous in person.
@ emmawasabi: the Lucinda is 59.99 in navy, poppy, and champagne (?) in our local stores. Both the Lucinda and the Elodie run a little large IMO, but the Lucinda is more flattering. For the Elodie, I tried an XS (I am normally a size 4) and it was still quite big on me. For the Lucinda, I can wear a size 0 or a size 2 for a little more room.
ReplyDelete@dinster thank you so much for your comment! :-) I'll try to make it to the store this weekend and try the Lucinda.

ReplyDeleteemmawasabi- I am echoing dinster. I am typically a 2/4 in Jcrew shirts but will go to a 4 to fit my shoulders.
ReplyDeleteFor the Lucinda I fit into a 2 without any problem. It was a perfect roomy fit.
The Elodie I was an XS (comfortably.
The Elodie is a little heavier than the Lucinda. The Lucinda feels "pretty" if that makes any sense.
I like both. Keep in mind the green color in the Elodie isn't as bright in real life but still a lovely color.
I have both on my blog megancrewreviews.blogspot.com.
@megcrew,
ReplyDeleteI saw your blogpost and saw the pic for the green Elodie and it is very pretty. You are right in saying it's not as vivid green as in the website.
I'll go to the store and see if they're carrying these blouses.
Thanks!
As oer the field jacket. I think it was two years ago! I got a $60-ish price, but they made lots of them that year. I'm not sure there will be plenty, but maybe worth a try.
ReplyDeleteCan anyone tell me if the camp popover shirt is on sale in stores? I've been coveting the pink one, but not for full price. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHeather - Fidele is right. The downtown field jacket went to $59.99 at one point long ago. I don't think I've seen it on sale since that one time.
ReplyDeletegigiofca & fidele: Thanks for your input!
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to accept paying so much for it when it was such a great deal a while back. And nothing has changed about the jacket!
Well, if anyone is willing to part with their EUC XS Downtown Field Jacket, let me know! =)
Thanks!

hey Louise-cosmetic bee- I'm gonna be in NY too...I may have completely ravaged the stores and my budget by the weekend though, since I arrive on Tuesday...;)

ReplyDeletehi, i also sized down in the lucinda from a 4 to a 2. i'm also hoping to pick up a blythe at some point—but has anyone noticed how weird the sizing is? i fit into a 2 in the blythe in the green but the sleeves were tight so i had to bump up to a 4 to in order for the sleeves not to look fitted on my upper arms. however, the white blythe size 2 fit totally fine in the sleeves so that i could have worn the 2 without any weird fit issues! unfortunately, i want the green. i just find a lot of their sizes are so all over the board this season. i've sized down in several of their sweaters as well.
ReplyDeleteWent yesterday to make returns and to look around. Saw the Noir Boucle Jacket - beautiful. Ended up paying FP for it and for the silk boy shirt in navy stripe - so beautiful together. Great with jeans and with my grey pencil. Happier with this than with most of the 20% off loot and with my final sales impulse purchases (disasters mostly). The jacket also looks great with a white button down and with the turquoise perfect T.
ReplyDeleteFYI, the Ross Park B&M in Pittsburgh had the No. 2 pencil skirt in viridian green in all sizes! Well, all sizes minus the 4, because I bought it yesterday. :)
ReplyDeleteOT, I have a one-time use code for $100 off $300 at coach, ending tonight, that I will not be using. If you would like it email me at femme55@hotmail.com. I will pass it on to the first emailer.

ReplyDeleteJCrewJD, that is exciting about your Madewell visit :) I ordered from them for the first time last week. You'll be able to see the new arrivals IRL! I am really looking forward to seeing my things, I ordered 2 dresses - and I'm not an Alexa Chung 'fan', I just really liked the look of the dresses as something I would wear, I had been looking for some more dresses of that type too. I've only been in a store once, but it was really nice and the SA's were very good.
ReplyDelete@ Emmawasabi
ReplyDeleteThe Elodie definitely runs a little large and the silk is different than the Lucinda.
I was able to size down in the Lucinda but probably would have been fine in my normal size as well.
You can see the Lucinda on me (scroll to bottom) here and the Elodie on me here
Off topic perhaps. I didn't visit JC this weekend, however, I made a fabulous purchase on ebay. Was wondering if anybody knew the name/year of the dress I bought. It's a silk shirtdress with the large purple/blue flowers on a white background--ruffled collar and sleeves. I believe this was a highly sought item at one time. If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it :)
ReplyDeleteHi BonnieMc - it's from Fall 2007, the vintage violet shirtdress. Usually, the interior tag will say "FA 07". Congrats! It's a beautiful piece.
ReplyDeleteIn other JC finds news, I found my Holiday 2007 catalog in a random box of stuff - I'd been looking for it forever! Some great pics of Vanessa Lorenzo in that catalog.
Silver_Lining....thanks soooo much. I thought it was from 2007---the best year yet.
ReplyDeleteRandom question for all you JCAs. Has anyone seen "I don't know how she does it" with SJP? It looks like she's sporting the Plaza Coat from JCrew in the movie. I love how it looks on her, and am hoping someone can confirm or deny my guess....so I can get the coat! Thanks in advance!
ReplyDeleteI went to my B&M today and finally got to try on the Maisie dress (that is waitlisted far into December online!). I know it hasn't been universally popular but I thought the abstract floral print was lovely. I did need to size down to a 2 though. I also loved the boy shirt in stripe crepe de chine. It had a loose fit in my usual size 4 but I actually liked it that way. It will look great with skinny jeans or tucked into a pencil.
ReplyDeletethatdamngreendress: LOL!!! I am thinking of breaking the bank too!! ;-) If I have the stamina, I might hit a couple J. Crews around town!
