J.Crew Extends Extra 30% Off Final Sale

"Thanks!" to many of you, including Audrey (in this post), who shared the following update from J.Crew this morning.

J.Crew is extending their offer to take 30% off all sale items (no min) with promo code SHOPNOW. This offer now expires Thursday, September 29, 2011.

To check out their Final Sale, click here to shop online. Honestly, I thought I would pick up a few pieces during this promotion but I didn't. I am holding out until prices are lower, or even better... some of the new Fall arrivals hit the sale section. (There are so many Fall pieces I am crushing on, so I rather purchase those.)

Will you be checking out the Sale section? Are there any items you are hoping to see or to get?

  1. Has anyone received the Factory printed pencil skirt? I keep debating over this one as I am in love with the begonia print and missed out on the cardi version, but I'm hesitant based on the fabric description, "cotton with a stretch". I'm wondering if I will be able to wear this all through the fall in NYC or whether it's one of those fabrics you just can't layer over tights...

  2. Meant to say cotton with a hint of stretch :)

  3. Dara, I have a couple of the cotton printed skirts from the Factory. The begonia print in particular is very pretty and is good for that fall transition time when you want to wear fall shades but it's still warm outside.

The thing I don't like about the skirt is the matte cotton lining (something we're also seeing in JC retail skirts). First, it's matte, so it doesn't "slip" over the body, whether you're wearing tights/hose or not. Second, it's sewn in one piece with the skirt fabric (instead of being separate), so it tends to cling to the fabric of the skirt.

The flimsy nylon slip I have helps, but just try finding a proper slip these days! What this skirt needs needs is a crisp, slippery half slip. Well, what it really needs is a better lining.

I think it's worth the bad factors because the print is so lovely, but the tights sticking will be an issue.

  4. Hi, Do you think they will lower it more? I'm in love with the women's bomber jacket that is on sale right now and with the 30% it's down from 89 to 62. Also, I love the stripped and stretch button down shirts.
Has anyone gotten the plaid factory women's shirts? I've seen the regular ones in store but jcrew.com does not have them, only the factory does. Also, there are some new wool V-neck sweaters in store but did not find it online. Does this often happen, where things in store are not online yet? Thanks! And sorry for the long post!!

  5. Hi Dara, I have one, and it's actually nicer than you'd think but... it may be hard to layer over tights. Agree with Hexicon that it needs a slip or something. Then again, if you spend most of your time sitting you'll be ok!

The sale section is looking pretty pitiful right now.

  6. Anyone have fit information on the Merino Bomber Jacket?

  7. I have a couple of the factory print skirts too and agree with Hexicon and JCrewJD.

  8. Has anyone tried/had luck (or not) with getting the store to match the 30% off that is running online? I am coveting the flair skirt in the rose print, but ordering it final sale sight unseen makes me cringe... Alternately, purchasing it for $36 more than the online price (with promo) in-store isn't palatable, either... Thanks in advance :)

  9. wendy, I was often able to get a store to match but in worst case if you try it in store you can always order online knowing if you like it what size etc.

  10. My store always matches the online sale price, but you have to ask, they sure won't offer, bwah. And it's not automatic either -- they have to call the mothership right there at the register to verify before they'll honor it...

  11. Who thinks there will be a restock tonight? I'm on the fence about a few things in my cart.

  12. I'm holding out hoping that some of the new fall arrivals (particularly the new Academy Coat!) will make it's way to the sale section in the future (hopefully not too long)

  13. I purchased the Factory Emeline Dress right before the 30% off promo. Luckily, I contacted CS for a PA and was granted the "one time courtesy" adjustment, which I really appreciate. The dress is gorgeous in Heather Elm. With free ship and 30% off, I highly recommend! Fits TTS, if not a bit loose.

  14. Hexicon, JCrewJD and Rose, thanks so much for the helpful feedback! Such a tough decision... I may just have to order it and try it on at home with some brown knee high boots to see how much wear I can potentially get out of it before NYC freezes over for the winter. Factory items appear to be returnable so that's a plus. I just wish I knew for sure that the cardi version won't pop back, but with JC one never knows!

  15. Wendy, I was at my local B&M at lunchtime. I just casually asked if they would honor the 30% off that is currently running online. The SA at the register said sure, but it would be final sale. I was a little surprised because sometimes the SAs are snotty at this particular location but he was very accommodating. Never hurts to ask!

  16. I also got my mall store to honor the 30% and they did not mark final sale :)

  17. I don't dare ask my store to do anything out of the ordinary. I recently bought a sweater from my store, 6 days later it dropped $50. I brought it in to do the old return and buy another but they didn't have my size. I LOVE the girl that helped me but she had to return it, place it on the floor, pretend like I randomly wanted to buy it. It was Soooo awkward for her and I felt terrible like I was getting her in big trouble. The manager even picked up on it and gave her a hard time like it was a really, really big deal. I just don't understand. I buy A LOT, never ask for anything special I just can't understand why I couldnt get a price adjustment and save the whole awkward dance? Anthro does it and seems fine...

After that I just don't feel like shopping or even going in my store. I am planning on a Jcrew shopping ban until after Christmas because I'm simply too embarrassed to go in. I feel like I was a big trouble maker. It is soo silly! This is a rant...sorry. I did grab the dearie dress in green this morning and really only have a couple fall items left that I would like for my wardrobe (hello flair skirt!)

Anyone else run Into this little dance at your stores?

  18. I asked tonight when I bought a few things and they would not extend the 30%. It sounds like it is hit or miss.

  19. Just a quick question--does the 30% off end tonight at midnight or on Thursday (tomorrow) at midnight? Thanks so much

  20. MegCrew I am FLOORED they treated you that way. They have some new managers over there now and you shouldn't feel embarrassed about going in at all. Next time ask for one of the Managers, Angela or Eddie. They would be greatful to help you. I am DYING to know who made you go through that song and dance!

  21. HI Moya, they extended it so it ends tomorrow, Thursday, at midnight instead of tonight.

  22. MegCrew, that is horrible treatment. I'm so mad for you & don't blame you one bit for not wanting to go into the store anymore. I agree, it is ridiculous the games we have to play when other stores gladly give price adjustments. I'm sorry you had to go through that & will miss your helpful blog posts with all of the outfit try-ons.

  23. shekster and shopalot.

Thanks for the kind words ladies!!! It is nice to hear that I am not crazy and it was a maddening situation. I hope I get over it soon, I'm sure a good round of new arrivals will cure me of my timidness very quickly.

It's nice to have my Jcrew friends to bounce things off of!

  24. MegCrew: I'm also sorry to hear of your poor experience with that manager! That situation could have been handled after you left the store...

JC needs to be more consistent. The fact that all stores operate differently depending who's the lead manager of the day could change whether you can get your item price adjusted with online or apply an online promo. The last time I was in store, one guy made a huge deal about online 30% off final sale, so the manager said he would honor it only if customers mention about the online promo. How ridiculous is that? If a store is running a particular promo it should be clearly stated or verbally made known to other customers shopping at that time.
JC likes to operate business as some espionage.

  25. Did anyone else notice the fisherman sweater is full price again? I was waiting to see if any new items went on sale this morning to add to my order. I guess i will not have to waste my time ordering now. :(

  26. Thanks for the feedback, ladies! I called to make sure the store had my size before going over (it's a 25 minute drive one-way), and they don't even carry the floral flair in our store :( Boo! Anyway, I took the plunge online. I've tried the solid flair in-store, so here's hoping it works!

  27. Final sale frustration! Was just about to order the Factory Viviana dress when I noticed it was final sale, which worried me since I don't know how it will fit. Went on chat and was helped by a very nice rep who noted my account to allow for return of the dress if it doesn't fit. Moments later I tried to check out and the dress had just sold out!

If not for final sale, this would never have been an issue.

  28. I have not bought one thing out of sale this go round. I am so done with final sale. I think I had 10 things in my cart at one time but I just cannot pull the plug knowing I can't return things that don't work. I hope final sale is over tomorrow for good, or at least until spring.
