Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the FALL sale, or to see some new HOLIDAY arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. Not this weekend but will have to try next week after I receive all my recent orders.
It's interesting how certain stores have different promotions going on. I called my local B&M and they are offering 25% off $150 or more (not final sale).

    Happy weekend everyone!

  2. No trip for me this weekend, either. There really isn't anything I need to see IRL or even want to get right now. I do have some returns to make, but they are getting shipped back to the warehouse instead.

  3. I went yesterday, so I won't be going this weekend. I saw a handful of black waxed utility jackets, size small, for $39.99. Other than that, mostly the usual suspects. I was surprised to see the chunky Fair Isle sweater hanging front and center in the store, covered with pills on the white part in the front. I just wanted to hit it with the sweater shaver!

  4. I only have returns to make, so will avoid the store during holiday weekend. My store has the 25% off 150 as well, not final sale.

  5. I did just grab a professor blazer off the Factory site. so cute, and a great buy.... This is the first time I've ever bought anything from 'the factory' so I have my fingers crossed!

  6. Does anybody know If there is a store in Manhattan that does the 25% off everything or off sale? I only have two hours today and will only go if a store is running the special promo. TIA!

  7. OT - just posting here because Alexis said it was OK to post one-day deals in the main thread.

Brooks Brothers daily deal today is 40% off women's fall apparel.

Of course no J.Crew B&M for me here in Canada but I was at a local mall last night and traffic was surprising lighter than I expected. I did not even wait in line at Sephora, which is usually packed this time of year. I had a $20 off $40 or more Sephora coupon in my email, which was good until Dec 13. If you are a Beauty Insider, check your email, you may have one too.

  8. I don't think I'll go, but hope the other JCAs find some goodies :)

Oh, I forgot to mention yesterday that there were signs for outerwear promo - I think 20%?

    ReplyDelete
  9. If anyone is interested the brocade top is $29.99 in B&M. I tried it on again and re-confirmed that it looks terrible on me, so I didn't buy it. I did get the chambray tuxedo pleated top for $29.99. It's really cute, fits well and I think quite versatile. Other than that, there was nothing that caught my eye in the store. I made several orders online w/the recent promos. Haven't received them yet, but will report back.

  10. Does anyone know how long the bronzed leopard merino cardigan has been on sale? I bought on full price last weekend (with promo) but then saw it on the sale section online at 49.99 with only XXS remaining. That made it seem like it had been on sale for a while. This particular store frequently has an issue with not being up to date with sale prices.

  11. I just got the dreaded email that the double serge stripe pencil skirt that I ordered w/my 30 off promo is out of stock. *cry* If anyone happens to see it at their B&M in a sz. 12, could you please put it on hold for me? Thanks!!

    ReplyDelete
  12. Margaret, I tried on the bronzed leopard cardi in my store yesterday. It was marked down to $59.99. The SA said it was just marked down yesterday for the first time.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Someone was looking for the Merino Silvana in Bronzed Twig. I saw one at Hingham Mass..I think it was either a S or XS.

    ReplyDelete
  14. @Margaret, I forgot to add, since it sounds like you bought your leopard cardi online - I believe it was marked down online for the first time yesterday as well. I've had my eye on it waiting for it to go on sale for a few weeks, and I first noticed it at $49.99 yesterday morning. Hopefully someone else can confirm (if you call CS to ask for a PA I'd imagine they'd be able to tell you when it went on sale, too)

    ReplyDelete
  15. MDPA, Thank you! That makes me feel better since I got it on 30% off promo. I hadn't even seen that sweater and I loved that print in the other items. So I wasn't on the fence, which is when the whole price differential begins to really bug me!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Might stop in but unsure. Nothing was exciting in store really with this rollout to me and I need nothing :) also I've decided I'm excited for spring and don't need anything else for winter (even though it's super cold )

    ReplyDelete
  17. Nothing I need right now so probably not. My stores also are doing 25% off everything, no $150 minimum, and nothing was marked final sale on my receipt, wheeeeeee!

Chic Chauffer, I have been very pleased with my outlet items so far. I'd say everything I've bought is nearly identical to retail-quality items. Really the only place I see a noticeable difference is the sweaters/knits, as it seems the factory stuff uses less silk and wool and more cotton and synthetics. Of course, all their sweaters seem to be trending that way anyway these days...

    Happy shopping all!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Oh, and JRuby, saw yr post in the other thread -- I believe all three of the size 12 double-serge pencil skirts were priced at $79.99. Hope that helps!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Hi fellow JCAs-
I just wanted to comment that there is quite a large update to the sale section online. Lots of items back in sizes/colors previously sold-out, like the Traversa- lets just hope they actually ship!

    ReplyDelete
  20. I have to stop by again (I was just there yesterday) to make some returns as I didn't have anything with me yesterday when I stopped in. I'm not planning to buy anything, but I want to try on several coats in anticipation of big sales plus the return of final sale after Christmas. Anyone have any ideas as to when the big after-Christmas sale usually starts? Is it the day after or later? Any thoughts on how good the deals on coats might be?

    ReplyDelete
  21. For some reason I decided I really want to try the pink Lolli pants (sold out online). If anyone sees them in a 4, could you let me know? tia.

    ReplyDelete
  22. For those of you who have been in a B&M lately, did you notice how much the 1035 glen plaid trousers are? They're marked down to $99.99 online, but I wonder if they're cheaper in store. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  23. MDPA,

I have found the best deals on coats don't happen right away a day or two after Christmas. It is in later Jan./Feb. that some bargains can be found. If you really need a coat I would buy it now. If looking for a deal you might have to wait a bit but then again you never know with JCrew what they might do next. Just remembering from past years and when I got the deals on all my coats. I am good to go for a long while now but have fun building your JCrew coat collection:)

    ReplyDelete
  24. Eloise, thanks! That was very helpful. I only have a couple of coats now and am looking forward to collecting more. I think I'll hang on to the ones I picked up on sale this week as I would be disappointed if they sell out before the end-of-winter sales.

    ReplyDelete
  25. If anyone sees the Collection Candela jacket in a size 0 at a B&M please let me know. It is sold out online and I really want it.

    TIA!!!

  26. Thanks for the info Elaine. The WWFIFY already called me to tell me they couldn't find the double serge stripe. maybe I'll call your store and see if they have it.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Lauren - That was me looking for the Silvana - do you remember how much it was? And will they do a charge/send for a sale item? And how much would they charge for shipping? Anyone know?

Also, this is probably a long shot, but has anyone seen McAlister wedges in their store? They haven't been in mine, and they're backordered online until Feb. Wondering if it's even worth doing a WWFI request... I'm a size 10.

    TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Oh thank heaven for the VIP line. My PS is away and CS was no help at all fixing a *major* screwup with a huge order and I was almost ready to blow up over the lack of concern or willingness to resolve the issues. So frustrating. In contrast, the person on the VIP line was extremely helpful, they worked with me for almost 30 minutes and got everything straightened out.

I realize CS is probably overwhelmed lately but a little empathy and initiative can go a long way. I still have a few promo orders to come and a couple of items on backorder. I just hope everything arrives intact, as ordered, in a timely manner. At least the sweater promo order that was touring the U.S. has now backtracked and made it into Canada at the usual entry point. Maybe it will arrive next week.

  29. Fabulous Florida Mommy,

Same for me. I decided to send my returns back UPS. Worth the small fee: cost of gas and my time to make returns this time of year:)

    ReplyDelete
  30. @ajr I didn't look at the price. I would call the shop (Derby St Hingham, MA). The SAs have always been extremely helpful and very nice.

    Good Luck :)

  31. Survived competitive parking event. Got snippy salesgirl at one store bec. I had a return to make, but sister, I wouldn't need to return so much if you carried petites in store ... made return at Lands End store, gold star for their customer service ... got a price adjustment done over the phone at j.crew, lovely, but wondered WTH j.crew is doing selling frilly Dolly Parton style denim shirtdress ... appreciated sample truffle handed out by Godiva girl ... came home to find email from j.crew that order placed yesterday HAS SHIPPED. Hallelujah. Sipping Christmas Blend coffee for restorative purposes.

  32. Barbabella- LOL That dress at JC is just horrible and wrong imo. I love most all things there but OMG it looks like a crewcuts dress (and nothing against crewcuts because i love all of that too (mostly!) When it was put out a few days ago I about died.

  33. Thanks Lauren! I'll give it a shot!

  34. Just got back from B&M where everything instore is 25% off, no minimum (not final sale). Not sure if anyone's posted it already.

Among other things, bought felted wool mini--very cute--, sized down to get more length but if it weren't for that, my normal size would've fit fine.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Not this weekend. I am waiting for an order to arrive. Does anyone own the stadium-cloth cinema coat and can comment...

    ReplyDelete
  36. Kris, I was at the Fifth Avenue store (NYC) and they had the pants. I put a pair a 4 on hold for you under the name J.C. (because I couldn't find your post when I wad there and couldn't remember who was looking for them). They should ship them for free because they are fp. HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Has anyone seen or tried the crystal boxes bracelet? I was just wondering if it was too big or heavy. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  38. I made some returns today. If anyone is looking for the Sunnie Pencil skirt, the Northbrook Court Mall (847-564-2739) store has some. They have four in the yellow colorway (0, 10, 12 and another one). One in the blue, size 4. HTH.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I went today to return the two Jackie cardigans I ordered with my 30% off. They just seemed... cheap. The fabric already looked shopworn, and the dye was inconsistent... lighter in some places and darker in some. I bought henna and nightfall blue. So, even for $34.99 which is what they were after the sweaters promo and the 30% off, not worth it. I have no idea where I will go now to buy 3/4 sleeve cotton cardigans that have enough nylon in them to hold their shape. Anyone have ideas?

Of course, I did not leave emptyhanded. I bought a pair of matchstick cords because I have gained weight and most of my pants don't fit... I needed something cheap to get me through while I get back down to my normal size. I hate how short the regular length is, but I will be tucking them into boots so it doesn't matter. They were $39.99. They had light gray and a light lavender color.

I also got a necklace, it is goldtone and has pale green rhinestones the entire length. It was marked $14.99, regularly $35. Necklaces were $10 off.

I also got two of the tortoise hair clips. I just permed my hair and am finding that often a ponytail holder does more damage to my curls than its worth. So for 25% off when you buy two, plus 30% off... it was reasonable. I like that they are made in France. (They still are, right?)

They had tons of Sunnie pencil skirts. Frankly, I think it is kinda ugly but for those that are interested they had many in both colors. This is at Victor (eastview mall) NY.

Sale section was packed. They had charcoal Arrow sweaters marked to $49.99, in XS and M. Many of each size. I tried to force an M to work but it was just too big. Darn it!

They had about 6 infinity cardigans in a really pretty ochre color but only had XS.

Basically, tons of stuff and it was all cheaper than it is online.

  41. Looks like evil gnomes may already have visited J.Crew:

    http://dealbook.nytimes.com/2010/12/10/j-crew-buyout-raises-questions/

interesting reading for anyone following the buyout

    ReplyDelete
  42. Oh Millard...I hope you're not pulling some cheap acrylic blend over the shareholders' eyes...

    ReplyDelete
  43. Em - I noticed the blend on the Jackies has changed. The blush stone I tried is 66% cotton, 29% nylon, 5% spandex. I think it was 80% cotton, 20% nylon and in years past it was 95% cotton, 5% spandex. I have a J'Crewlet version from 2 years ago that's 100% cotton.

    ReplyDelete
  44. @ ajr, Tysons Galleria in VA carries the Macalister wedges. I don't know if they have your size but they seemed to have all sizes when I got mine there, a couple of weeks ago.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Both JC in the Austin area are having the buy $150 get 25 % off. I did not see signs prominently displayed but asked the SAs and they confirmed that this was indeed the case.

FYI If anyone is interested in the Embellished Perfect Shirt in Charcoal (not sure about the white, but would assume the same) is maked $49.99 at the Domain store. Combined with other items to get to $150 brings this $98 shirt down to about $37.50 ....and it is still FP online!

I have quite a few online returns to make and am thinking along the sames lines as Fabulous Florida Mommy....I may send it all back UPS to avoid any lectures or arch looks from the SAs....who in general all all very nice at these two particular stores. It's just that I have been returning ALOT lately!

Does anyone know if you can return multiple orders in the same box (for one return fee?)?

    sub

    ReplyDelete
  46. txmom,

I have returned up to five different orders all in one box. No problems.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Em, Gigi, my majestic purple Jackie from SU08 is the same 66% cotton, 29% nylon, 5% spandex blend. In a comment a while back I complained about the decline in quality on the Jackies this year and was surprised that the content was the same. I suspect J.Crew is using lower-quality nylon and/or cotton and that accounts for the difference because they sure are not the same quality.

I have an older set that is a tank instead of a shell and has full-length sleeves. It is 100% mercerized cotton in a rib knit. Really pretty fuschia with a very slight sheen from the mercerizing and thick sculpted mother of pearl buttons. There is no date on the tags but I am pretty sure I got it before they had the "Jackie". It's at least 5 years old but still looks brand new. It used to be part of my "first date" outfit, I could always count on looking great in that sweater set. Of course it still looks good today, but I'm married now, so no more dates. :^)

    ReplyDelete
  48. xoxo,

I have a "Jackie" from 2004 that is navy blue and is still in like new condition. I always handwash it in special soap for dark colors and it has not faded. I don't remember the fiber content but I am willing to bet it is 100% cotton. It is the only Jackie I own and I look at the newer ones and know they don't make'em like they used too!

    ReplyDelete
  49. wellfedfred,

Very interesting article. Thanks for the link.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Eloise, Thank you for the feedback. I am going to wait until the next two orders arrive , make my decisions and send all the returns back at once!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Tons back on in the sale section online this morning... I feel like its renewed every morning, but today especially so. I ordered the contrast ballet flats and some herringbone tights with my 30%. Also saw the Moss Tweed Pencil back in a 4 (yay!) but it was FP so had to call a store (where they were super nice) to have them red phone it for me to get the sale. Unfortunately there is only 1 in stock so the order is "submitted" but they're going to do a WWFI for me and hopefully it will work out, that skirt is just so beautiful!

If anyone is in the Chicago area can you update on the sale sections in B&Ms? I worry I am missing some great deals but also don't want to waste my time going into the stores if its the same old stuff... I'm particularly interested in pencils and blouses (building the work wardrobe). TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  52. On the topic of Jackies, I agree the recent ones just don't feel the same. Even when they have hte same fiber content. But I have a brown (can't remeber the exact name) from 2007 that is 95% cotton and 5% cashmere. I remember the catalog touted adding a touch of cashmere that year.

  55. Hi! I'm not sure that this is the best place to post this - but here it goes - does anyone have the duffle coat from last year? I LOVE it and I have been eying it on ebay. I know that it is also available at J.Crew factory, but I would like the thinsulate version. NYC is COLD this year! My question is about sizing. Is the coat TTS? I have the Carrie coat in a size 6 and I feel like though it is okay in the shoulders, the body of the coat is too loose. I normally wear a 6 dress size at J.Crew and a 4 top size. I am thinking about sizing down to a 4 for the duffle coat, but was hoping someone could weigh in on the sizing. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Kate, I remember Gigi reviewing the Wool duffle coat on her blog last year. I'd do a search there!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Kate - I have the wool duffle and *love* it. I bought mine in a 6. I wear an M in Jackies, a 6 in perfect shirts, and a 4 in sleeveless camis (I must have big shoulder blades or something - if an item has sleeves I always want the extra room for moving my arms). A 4 in the duffle coat fit fine if I was wearing a tee or blouse underneath. A 6 was better for when I would have on a sweater underneath. Since I'm the type that is always cold I went with the 6 b/c I wear a lot of sweaters in the fall/winter.

I hope this helps. I hope you get it too. It's a nice warm coat and my cost per wear has got to be very low by now.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Thanks for your responses Kristin and MDPA! I think I will go with the 6, all the better to bundle up with.

    -Kate

    ReplyDelete
  59. Thanks dinster! I will try giving them a call.

    ReplyDelete
  60. @ JRuby18

Thanks so much for the info about the brocade baseball tee. I bought it at FP in Sept, but I've lost a bunch of weight, so its huge on me now.

I stopped by last night and grabbed that and the Novo-stripe wrap top (28560), which was marked down to $19.99 (its $34.99 online), plus the Copley Place store is offering 25% off your entire purchase. All in all a pretty good stop!

    ReplyDelete
  61. I know this has been discussed ad nauseum, but can someone tell me what is warmer, the stadium cloth or the double cloth *with thinsulate*. I live in MN and want a coat for the wicked jan and feb weather. I saw the colleta in the store yesterday in plum and thought it was really cute, most of the super skinny models online don't do these coats any justice. But I was also looking at the stadium cloth peacoat or boulevard trench. What is the ultimate warmest coat they sell? I LOVE the ingenue coat, but have heard the double cloth w/out thinsulate is not for our winters. TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  62. has anyone tried the merino cowlneck zip sweater? I was on the fence about the grey, but now realizing I love the cinnamon colour. One of those cases where they have xs and xxs and I'm not sure how large this might run!

Couldn't find any mention through the search...

    ReplyDelete
  63. My store had all the double serge skirts for $79.99, all colors, plus 25% off with a $150 purchase.

I was irritated to see this because I wear a 14 and my store does not carry my size, so I ordered them online, full price plus promo. Still, the in-store promo is much better.

So I went back and asked for some help in getting the price difference on not one but two orders. I wrote about the experience here. It actually went well but I am so annoyed at the pricing games J.Crew plays, especially since I can't even shop my store due to it not carrying my size.

    ReplyDelete
  64. @jacquelyn

That IS super frustrating! I've been waiting on the nightfall blue to go on promo (they did the magenta and are now doing the grey) online and it hasn't. I called my store and nada. Where is your store? I wonder if I can call CS to get the price... probably not.

But a very loud BOOO to these pricing games.

    ReplyDelete
  65. thatdamngreendress, I tried that sweater and found it was TTS, although it was way too low cut for me, even fully zipped.

    ReplyDelete
  66. @jaquelyn

Your salesperson should have gone right over to the red phone, order the skirt in the correct size for you, and asked for a price adjustment to accomodate you. He or she could even ask for free shipping on your behalf, if you are a regular. They have that ability, and the people on the other end of the red phone are happy to do whatever the associate asks. I'm so sorry you had a bit of bad service!!!

  67. Charlotte Sometimes,
I have both the Double Cloth Lady Day with Thinsulate from last year and this year's Stadium Cloth Boulevard Trench. I've been wearing both of them this winter (I live in Madison, WI), but I find that I like the Stadium Cloth more for warmth. I wore my Lady Day all last winter and was fine in Milwaukee, WI, but I think the Stadium Cloth is more cozy now that I can compare. The other important point is that the arms are not lined in a Thinsulate Lady Day. I figure a Thinsulate Coletta would be the same.

So... I definitely endorse the Stadium Cloth over Thinsulate Double Cloth after alternating between the two for the past month. I wouldn't even think about Double Cloth without Thinsulate if your winters are as cold as ours.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Charlotte Sometimes - I live in MN too, and have a double-cloth coat with Thinsulate. It's been my primary winter coat for a few years now, so I find it to be quite warm. I wouldn't buy a double-cloth coat (or any other J.Crew coat) without the Thinsulate lining, though.

  69. Does anyone know how the Cashmere tee dress (32422) runs? I'm normally a size small and 2/4. I don't want it to be too snug but just right. I'm looking for XS or S in black if not bronzed olive. If you see any please let me know. Thanks!

  70. Thanks for the coat feedback! I ordered both the lady day coat and the coletta, because I could not decide. I know I like the coletta, saw it in store, but the lady day was so much cheaper and similar. Does anyone remember which coat it was that JCA's were complaining about piling?

  76. Has anyone seen the heather gray stadium cloth peacoat with gold buttons? I tend to buy all things navy but I'm really sort of tempted by this coat. Is it TTS? It looks like it could fit a bit like the Lady Day in which case I would go up a size. Thanks!

  77. I think someone was looking for the plaid Eliza top. Emeryville, CA had some yesterday.

Also, the crystal bead cardigan is $29.99. Irl pics of the heather seaweed in the middle of this post. The shale is pretty, but it looks like it will be pill city, so I passed.

    ReplyDelete
  78. -- oops, I should have said the crystal bead cardi is $29.99 in-store. It's still regular price online.

And finally, I saw a zipper belt for $4.99 in-store. I posted a note on the sidebar of my blog, but don't know if I dropped the info here. It's a super skinny belt and the zipper goes the length of the belt. I saw black, grey & green. Don't see it online.

  79. Visited my B&M, 25% off 150 or more. Lots of people in the store but no one was buying really, though I did see another return. I was returning some dresses that were too big (I ordered a 0 even though I'm usually a 2 because I know J.Crew runs big, and the 0 was even too big! I am not that small, the vanity sizing is ridiculous!). I also did price adjustments on the portion of my order I didn't return and ended up getting $50 or so back, so it was well worth the trip! (and they sucked me in and I used most of that to buy a hat!)

  80. Thanks Em! I called the Victor store and they are sending me one of the sunnies. Interesting that they told me they aren't supposed to ship directly to customers, but would make an exception. The Dallas store sends to me regularly. More interesting that the SA in the store I visited yesterday used the red phone and told me there were no more available.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Jessica, glad you got one! That is a weird store. The SA's there never seem very knowledgeable about the merchandise or anything else. Glad they "made an exception" for you.. ha! We all know they ship to customers. Very strange. Which color did you get?

    ReplyDelete
  82. Irl pics of 4 sweaters in this post. Sweet violet cardi, merino de longueur, crystal bead ($29.99 in-store) and Jackie in blush stone.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Em, I got the grey one. I have the yellow and really like how it fits. You are right. They are sort of weird. The SA had no idea what I was talking about when I asked if they had a 10. After I described it, she said I've never seen anything like that! I said I was told you have several in the store. It was quite comical. Again, thanks for your help. Happy Holidays!

  84. Went to The Grove B&M in Los Angeles today to try and get the Levi's 501 Salt Soaked Selvedge for the sale price of $19.99. All sale items in store are %30 off. They were out of stock. Wish they had sent me to the red phone to get the CS folks to locate some and send them my way! I am also upset that the online and store prices are so different.
