Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the FALL sale, or to see some new HOLIDAY arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. Dear JCAs -

The three things I have been lusting after are the Tuxedo Jacket, the Curator Pants and the Mongolion Lamb Stole. Unfortunately, my local store doesn't carry any of them. Any thoughts/comments/suggestions on fit/material/quality?

I won't have computer access for most of Friday, so thanks in advance to any insight you can provide! Cheers.

  2. I visited Jcrew today and saw that the plaid eliza tee was marked down to $69.99. Very cute, fit was okay, but the dealbreaker was the material. So cheap and stiff feeling. I also noticed that the brocade top is marked down to $49.99 in stores, so if you can snag it in-store, it's a pretty good deal w/ the promo!

  3. I don't think I'll be braving the mall over the weekend - the closer it gets to Christmas, the worse the parking is!

  4. My ps is out of town, so I'm not planning to go this weekend. I'll wait until he's back.

  5. I am sending my hubby out to return the electra vest. It is not worth the money$$ I found another item for much less at another retailer and it is so much nicer/better made for less.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Summer, where did you find the vest? I have been wanting the Electra, but cheaper and better quality is the way to go!

  8. I don't think I'll go - like silver lining said, the parking is too much. I would like to give my PS some business, though, with the promo...

  10. I'm staying out this weekend if possible -- too crazy this time of year. Plus, there will be a mini rollout on Monday, so I think I'll pop in then to see what they get in.

OT, but if anyone watches How I Met Your Mother, do you notice that every week at least one person is wearing something from J.Crew and Anthro?

  12. I received my 30% off shipment from 2 weeks ago. I'll have to go to return the defective sequin stripe tank before Sat/Sun to avoid traffic.

  13. I'll be going to return a few items. Funny, I got my dh, who is not remotely into fashion, etc.., a JC flannel and he commented on the poor quality. I was surprised. But he did like the fit and the pattern, so we're keeping it.

There were a few tops in my b&m sale section that I'm hoping might still be there w/the30% off promo. I'll report back after the weekend!

  14. Just received the Chunky Fair Isle sweater....and I love it. :) It is TTS, I purchased my normal size small.

    Happy Friday All!

  15. I'm definitely going today (said I was going the other day & didn't make it). Ugh - I dread the parking & crowds too. I'm also wondering if cords are lower priced @ b&M like they have been in the past. Like shorts, I can never have enough cords!

  16. Asra: I have the Curator pants and I went with the smaller of my two J. Crew pants sizes. It is fitted towards the bottom, near the hem, but I have thinner calves, so this is not an issue for me. The top portion of the pants is looser, which I adore, as this is where I tend to carry my weight. The material is great and really packs well. I can see why they have been popular and are still at FP. I recommend them, highly! I have pics of me wearing them somewhere on my blog, but I don't have the time to find where today. I believe if you search "curator" over at My Superfluities, the post with it in them should pop right up. Hope that helps!

Summer, I love my electra vest and find it very unique. That said, it is expensive (I got quite a deal with various coupons and promos out there--only way I could afford it). I would love to see what alternate you found...do you have a link to the one you found? I won't be returning mine, but I know there are JCAs out there who would love to have the vest at a much more frugal price. Please show us!!!

  17. Oh how I *wish* I could get to a store for the latest promo. I would love to try on several things.

I did place another order today for the buffalo plaid jacket, which came to about $160 with the promo since I added to my cart to go over $250. I'll try it for size and if it's a keeper I'll leave the tags on and see if I can do any better post-Christmas since I have 60 days to return but if it sells out then at least I got it at a pretty good price. I know I am really stretching to rationalize here but I like the idea that it is tailored enough to be number-sized, the pockets are cute and the wool looks to be substantial quality, plus I love the red. I'll get up off the couch now...

  18. Ladies, let's keep the comments positive and about J.Crew.

If you need to discuss things with other JCAs, then please take it private. Thank you.

  19. I went to my B&M last night, and they were still having 20% off outerwear, combinable with the 25/30% off promo. They had a few plum Colletta coats marked down to $169.99 plus the 20% off. Could be a great deal if you buy more to also get the 25/30% off.

  21. Good riddance! Perhaps you should think about permanently leaving this blog instead of just thru the holidays. You are a MAJOR "Debbie Downer".

  22. Genny, why can't you just send Alexis an email? She said no more personal stuff on the blog and yet you/Summer keep bringing it up.

Summerilla is not in the wrong here. You wrote some very unkind things about her health and her need to find religion on her personal blog to which she had to make the decision to make her blog private. Stop stalking her. (If anyone cares to read the post about last Tuesday, Summer apologized for bringing personal stuff to JCA and outlined her reasons for going private.)

  23. Can anyone comment on the stretch wool vs. the super 120s version? I don't own any of the stretch wool suiting, but I like the idea, and I wonder if the finish of the fabric is close enough to the 120s that I could mix them. In particular, I'm looking at the crop pants.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Has anyone tried the side cable cardigan? It looks very luxe online, but I wonder how it is in real life. Also, how does the sizing run? Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Lauren, I bought it, returned it, then reordered it online, and returned it. The sleeves are either made with 1)people with no bones in their arms, or 2) people with no meat, muscle or skin on their bones. I'm not sure if J.Crew made this specifically for their armless mannequins, because even with sizing up, it didn't work. Way. Too. Tight.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Made my first purchase in 1.5 months at J.Crew last night - a tissue t-neck, on promo/sale/whatever for $19.50. That's the proper price for the item, IMO. Wouldn't dream of paying $39.50.

Apologies for broken record here, but WTH are they thinking with the mini skirts? One plaid number I held up against me barely fell below my derriere. Would banish thoughts of sitting. Is sitting passé?

  27. For all the JCAs who are talking about J.Crew & related themes... THANK YOU!

For all the JCAs who are not discussing J.Crew & related themes... please stop! This blog is suppose to be a fun place to talk about clothes. Right now, this post has too many negative comments unrelated to the topic at hand.

This will be the last time I am addressing this issue. I am taking the "weekend off" from this blog. :(

    ReplyDelete
  28. Christy, thanks for the feedback. Your comments cracked me up! As someone who does not have toothpick arms, I guess I'll pass. Thanks again for saving me time, money, and energy.

  29. Heading to the J Crewlet in Foley, AL. I'm excited to see what they will have! I'm hoping to pick up a few Jackies.

  30. I too am skurred to hit the mall at this time of year. I just can't deal with the stress -- people in the stores are so curt and things can get unbelievably rude and competitive in the parking lots...I just don't have the energy. The only way I'll swing it is to either go the minute the doors open or in the last 90 minutes before close.

I want to get my mom some JC for Christmas, so I'm happy to see the current promo. Just wondering at this point what will be left.

If I do brave the stores this weekend and find anything good, I will tell y'all!

Also, a wee shoutout to my weekly exchange peeps -- you know who you are, thank you for being here! :)

  31. I did a few re-buys online & in-store because of the huge price discrepancies between the two. My orders shipped, so I'll do returns. Then when some arrive I'll be returning a few of those items. Sometimes I wonder if the re-buy is worth the effort, but the choice is clear for me when we're talking $100+ difference.

I tried the dulphine shimmer open cardi yesterday (XS) and it's very pretty. It's fp in-store and $68 online.

  32. Hexicon, I have super 120's and stretch wool from two different years and the black is quite indistinguishable between them as far as finish, weave and color are concerned. It may depend on the dye lots and how close the color is between fabrics. The stretch wool is quite lovely too and very comfortable. Hope you like it.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Elaine, don't forget getting accosted by the people working the kiosks! That's gotten especially bad at my mall lately.

  34. I visited yesterday and saw a skirt from Summer '07 on the sale rack for $49.99. WTF? It was SO weird.

I bought the waxed utility jacket in black in a small. SO much more flattering in real life than on the model. It actually flatters my practically nonexistent curves.

Also got a "new favorite tank" for $4.99, they had gray, purple, pink, and beige in all sizes but mostly XS and XL. I got a medium.

Tons of stuff in the sale section. They still have two pairs of glen plaid minnies in a 6 and a 12 for $29.99.

Like others have mentioned the plaid Eliza top is already on sale. It is reallly cheap looking in my opinion. I LOVE all things silk taffeta (I own way too many plaid taffeta skirts) but this top is bad. The beads are so cheap looking. Ick. I might buy it for $19.99 and remove them but that's not likely.

This was at the Eastview Mall b&M in Victor, NY.

  36. I thought perhaps I was the only one who noticed the extremely tight arms of late! My arms aren't huge but they aren't pencils either. The tightness in the arms has caused me to have to size up in a lot of things lately, making the garmet overall too big in the chest just to get a good arm fit.

As for the other hijinks going on here, please hop off the "merry-go-round-of-ugly-attitudes" and move to your nearest exit... It's Alexis' blog and she can say and do whatever she damn well pleases.

    ReplyDelete
  37. @ Elaine-

Hilarious! I find that not making eye contact and/or saying "no" before I'm even asked is usually effective.

As in "NO", I don't want to try your miracle hand cream and "NO" I especially don't want your skeezy hands touching me to 'massage' my cuticles.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Ahahaha! They're right up there with the food court Chinese restaurant employees that hand out little pieces of chicken on toothpicks. If I want your hand lotion/body scrub/hairpieces/chicken, I'll come to *you*! :)

    ReplyDelete
  39. Em, your mention of seeing the skirt from '07 in store recently reminded me of another sad thing about the new return policy. We used to be able to find popbacks from way back when the return period for online purchases was unlimited. Granted, some were worn returns but many were not and I was able to score some great past-seaon items for a steal. I'm afraid that will be no more, or at least a heck of a lot less.

  40. Elaine & silver_lining - Do NOT buy the little magical steamer. They will amaze you with its wrinkle removable capabilities and dazzle you w/the fact that it only takes a small amt of regular salt + tap water to run. The sucker will rust on you and cease to work. I know this after having a glass of wine and walking thru the Forum Shops in Vegas. Don't drink & mall!

    ReplyDelete
  41. I went to the store, specifically to pick up cords and tees, my go-to items @ JCrew. Cords are a great buy, as they are on promo for 49.50 and you get the 25% off that...not bad! That's it, though. I really scoured the store looking for cute stuff, but the only things I did like (a few button downs), sizes were only available on 0 or 14. Seriously, like 3 zeros and 3 fourteens. Oh well!

    ReplyDelete
  42. LMAO gigi!

Silver-lining, I have always been 'fond' of 'aerosol chicken.' Haven't you? ;)

And those Dead Sea cream guys should knock it off! I don't want anyone touching me!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Gigi! lol. I'll bet the ones in Vegas are extra crafty!

I always try extra hard to be nice to the kiosk peeps because I know they don't mean any harm. I don't even break stride, I just say 'No thank you' sweetly and keep rolling on.

There's always some hapless soul trapped in the chair an hour later, looking quizzically at what appears to be a small rodent nestled in her own hair! And at that point I'm just glad it's not me. Hee hee.

    ReplyDelete
  44. gigi, that is too funny! Don't drink and mall, I'm still laughing! :)

I went last weekend and had my fill of crazy holiday-ness for awhile, so not going this weekend either. :)

  45. IRL, some of the cords were $29.99, and others were on promo for, I THINK, $39.50. The $29.99 ones were matchsticks.

    ReplyDelete
  46. jbird, I have noticed this too. Now I am paranoid that I have fat arms. I wear a 6 normally and some of the stuff I've tried lately in a 6/small/even medium is WAY too tight in the arms. Not cool!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Breezed through looking for some camis and none to be found at my local JC but tons of tees and drabness. No color whatsoever. My GIFTS order arrived today and when did everything start fitting so short? I know I didn't grow taller. Bummed. I get sometimes cardis are cropped but camis? Oh well.

    ReplyDelete
  48. xoxo, I think you are right. I've been wondering why there have been so few great popbacks recently and the new return policy makes absolute sense. I've been very fortunate with prior popback purchases and living on the West Coast sometimes that is the only way I get certain sale items.

I'm still hoping they change their mind on the return policy, as unlikely as that may be. A girl can dream :)

    ReplyDelete
  49. Genny, I can't understand why you won't just stop.

Please, do us all a favor and quit. You commentary is unwanted.

I want to read about J.Crew, not your pettiness.

  50. The black cardigan with zippers and ribbons is $49.99 at Tysons Galleria, VA, before an extra 25% off sale prices. The black Thandie blazer is also $49.99. Also the Falling Beads cami is $49.99, which I love. All prices before extra 25% off discount. Sorry if all these prices are re-posts, I haven't read the other posts above.
Also worth repeating: Lord & Taylor has their cashmere cardis and v-necks for $54.99 today, got the lilac and the maroon, very happy with my purchase! Going to have to return the J Crew versions which I got earlier this week for $76.

  51. Has anyone tried on the following 2 items? And if so, could you kindly comment on their fit and how you like them? (I'm contemplating on ordering them with the promo.)

    Francille Fray Blouse

    Thank you!

mjones - Audreybella is in the marvelle mini in this post. I think she is around 5'4", but I'm not sure. I haven't seen the fray blouse, but I'd be scurred of the fray part of it.

Elaine - ...'rodent nested in her hair'...*rofl* I can see the trapped customer now. I smile & am nice as well as I decline. If I'm not feeling strong, I have my phone to my ear like I'm in a conversation. Some of those guys are really cute.

I am jealous of all the lucky shoppers who have store access to the mothership and am so excited for them to open here in Toronto!

  57. Just back from the b&m. Sale section same as what others have reported: cords, plum colored coat, lots of merino? turtlenecks, tierette sweaters, tee's & some awful tee's that must be b&m only, same sale stuff as online. The Cord Atlee Skirt is on sale for $29.99, which is less than online.

The Tierette was a surprise & now a pass. It's not what I expected & isn't what I was looking for in a sweater. They look like they run big, (& maybe stretched from hanging instead of being folded) & for me, would end up being a sweater to wear around the house so I don't need it. (My husband said his barber was wearing an almost identical sweater. Ha!)

Honestly, I'm really pining for the Elette cashmere cardigan!!! I look at it everyday. I'm kicking myself for not ordering it during the sweater/current promo the other night (I've been sick so I'm cutting myself some slack). It's really the only thing I've been wanting this winter. The Henley V-neck cashmere was just too thin so I returned it. Oh well, hopefully I'll get a second chance at it on sale!

  60. I checked the reviews post and saw nothing, but does anyone have a review of the Merino cowlneck zip sweater or the Merino chiffon placket sweater to offer up? I just got a Crew giftcard and would love to put it to use before the % off promo ends. Thanks to anyone who helps!

    ReplyDelete
  61. Twiga - *lol* unlike my sad 3-time use steamer, you are probably still enjoying your Burberry.

Ali - Merino chiffon placket looks a lot like the merino cielo, but the chiffon placket looks like a cropped sweater. In contrast, the cielo is supposed to hit at the hip. HTH

  62. Went to the Columbus Circle store yesterday afternoon. They had at least four pairs of the Curator pants, all in a size 8. They are $49.99 before discount. Nothing else worth mentionning in the sale section. I wanted to mention that the new elastic embellished belt that came out in this rollout is super-cute and great for the holidays. If you need something to get to the minimum for the promo I reccomend it. Not sure that it's worth $49.99 but with the promo is a great holiday accessory.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Mjones- I got the taffetaw mini too- it didn't seem to short IMO - a sweet little skirt it really has soon poof to it that I wasn't expecting. I ended up loving it though I think it will be cute for holiday parties with tights!

  64. At the mall kiosks with the little colored perfumed things (I don't know what they are) they always say "Can I ask you a question?". For a short time I replied "You just did." but they got so confused that I stopped. I hate being accosted at the mall - if it were my mall, I'd have a no-accosting policy, except for chik-fil-a.

  65. Are there any b&ms that still have the Tartan Perfect shirt in stock? Am looking for a size 2 or 4...

    ReplyDelete
  66. Gigi - the sad thing is that I don't even remember if my steamer came from the forum shops in Vegas, I just have a vague memory of standing at the kiosk and nodding as my eyes glazed over and handing over my credit card. To be followed several days later by this pitiful device spewing water all over my clothes :)

OK so back to J.Crew. Has anyone on here bought the cashmere waffle leggings in XXS? I have the ones from 2007 in XS and although I love them they are baggy but apparently the XXS came and went and sold out which sort of irritates me. I was watching as the XXS of all the cashmere sweaters became available but I never saw the leggings and my PSs said they did not get them in store (despite what the online chat lady told me :) although the store inventory does show they were made in this size when we looked them up last weekend... :( So supposedly it was only a few. I'm hoping an XXS will pop back but would love to hear any feed back. The quality of my 07 pairs which I got on sale is great but the look is not.. TIA

    ReplyDelete
  67. Ali, I ordered the merino zip cowlneck sweater and had to return because the scoop neck was cut inappropriately low. Even with the zipper fully zipped, I didn't feel comfortable wearing the sweater out of the house, let alone to work.

  68. What you insanely strange and blind people fail to see is that Summerilla started things up again with her post yesterday. She is at fault 100% here. The poor girl needs help ASAP. She is stalking me not the other way around!!! OMG.

I was getting ready to post the link to the similar electra vest.

    Why bother?

Good-bye. No responses will be read.

I am leaving for the UK tomorrow. Hubby got a job offer Tuesday night and we are going house hunting and moving back there; last minute wonderfulness. So excited words cannot explain! No need for JCrew when you have Europe to shop in.

Thanks to all who showed love here. Cheers!

  69. I went to the outlet last night and walked out with one measly pin/hair clip that was a retail item in the clearance section. Clearance was an extra 30% off. Everything else was at least 30% off except for some things like some of the wool pencil skirts. The selection was pitiful.

    ReplyDelete
  70. AppGal I saw Tartan shirts at the Palo Alto JC. The store was busy. This promo wasn't posted but the SAs were telling everyone. I got a stack of Jackies and another Thomas Mason. Wish I'd had more time and money!

They had very little cashmere at the Palo Alto store and the store needed restocking. They may have had more in the back because I can't help but think if they are doing this promo, they have extra stock. They had the hickory? Waverly chinos and I'm kicking myself for not grabbing a pair.

    ReplyDelete
  71. One other thing, if anyone is considering the Tweed Tatum jacket or other specialty items like that, I would recommend ordering online. The ones I saw in the store seemed a little beat up. In fact it seems only the hardiest items can withstand the beating. With free shipping, if you know your size, getting it fresh from online might be a better way to go.

  72. I went to the Bellevue square Jc last night and that store is total fail. The sale section looked like the goodwill. The tables were covered in heaps of unfolded sweaters. The SAs left much to be desired letting me huck the sweaters I wanted to try on all the way across the store instead of taking them for me and hanging them up in the dressing room. They also did not bother to inform me of any of the promos, nor did the store have any signs up.

Anyway, they sweaters I did try on were fugly. Looked like they were from the clearance section of the GAP, so boring and ill-fitting. Completely agree about the very tight sleeves and I have skinny arms. Do they think that skin tight sleeves are going to make up for the pudgy waist fit?! Exception to the failures was the Dulphine sailor stripe sweater. Would have liked to buy it but although cute, it is F21 quality and I'm not foolish enough to pay $70 for it when just two days ago I bought JC sweaters for $35 (which is more appropriate for acrylic)
Sorry to rant but it boggles the mind that "experts" think JC is doing poorly because of the weather when it's quite clear to any shopper that it is the crap quality and F21 styles and skirt lengths that have taken over the shop. Tried on the fireside plaid mini and jesus my mini skirt length slip was longer. I'm already prepaid to be sorely disappointed when my Chalet sweaters show up. No doubt I'll be thinking "I broke my no-buy for this?!"

  73. Aww, I just noticed flannel-lined chinos in the men's section. Miss those for women (along with waffle knits)!

    ReplyDelete
  74. My B&M had a 25% off everything promotion, no minimum! I went in to do returns but picked up some sale items with the additional discount.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I think J.Crew is hurting pretty bad. They want this sale to go through with the private equity company pretty badly and there must be an agreement that they must probably keep sales at x% compared to last year. But to me, it's the same old stuff, now discounted, and harder to return if I need to.

    ReplyDelete
  76. silver_lining: aw, that makes me so sad! I sold my 2 pair (one was too small, one too big) thinking I could buy my actual size this winter. I hope they bring them back one day!

    ReplyDelete
  77. Shannon I also travel to the Bellevue store and it's so surprising how downscale that store is for such an upscale mall. It doesn't fit. Both University Village and Pacific Place are nicer. Conversely, Palo Alto tends to do nicer displays and stock than San Francisco, even though San Francisco has broader stock. Of those five stores, I would rank Bellevue last and I don't say that lightly. I remember when JC had the huge space across the way, but that was pre-Drexler.

Now it seems Bellevue isn't even trying to be successful.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Elizabeth, I totally agree with you about items on the floor looking worn. I wanted to pick up the Stadium Cloth Boulevard trench as it was only $180 total with the promotions, but they had one in my size in store and it looked like a mess from being tried on/handled. I felt like the SAs would think I was crazy and/or a brat if I asked to place an order over the red phone for a brand new one in my size, and I wasn't sure if they'd honor the 20% off outerwear in-store promo anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Christy,

I agree with you that JCrew is hurting really badly now. Wish I could remember where I read a recent article on them going private and why. It was on someone's blog link on this blogs list to the side but their ladies line is the area they are hurting most in the article said. Mens and Crewcuts are doing fine as well as accessories across the board but the women's line is doing very poorly. I have not bought anything from them all winter. Summer was the last time I saw something I had to have.

Even with free ship no minimum on my JCrew account and the 30% off I cannot find anything I really want to buy. I am so glad I got the fancy collection jacket in ivory a winter or two ago. It had the casading silk flowers going down the front. Gorgeous but pricey.

  81. Hey Lucy at 1:55 pm, which store were you shopping? The b&m's in MD are not running the promo. They currently are running the 20% off outerwear & the "Gifts" promo. That's some deal!

    ReplyDelete
  82. Eloise,

Totally. It's like they're throwing all these "deals" at us, but what are we really buying? More of the same of what we already have?

Beefing up the numbers with quality merchandise is one thing, but let's not kid ourselves. When the ladies start comparing the clothes to F21, you know it's over. Acrylic blends are plain cheap. Cashmere blended cardigans with mohair are marked to $400. It's a high and low of what JCrew has to offer. I almost feel like they're trying to unload a bunch of garbage, and once in a blue moon they really "score" when they sell a $1400 of leather pants. Crazy.

This company needs to turn around. Women are their biggest consumers and it's hard to cheer on a brand that doesn't care much about quality or service.

  83. Soo...if you request a "We will find it for you" search for a sold-out item (I really want this Tartan shirt!) will they notify you either way, regardless of if they found it or not? Do they usually email you or call? I've only done one of these searches in the past, and it's been several years...I forgot :)

    ReplyDelete
  84. AppGal I'm fairly certain if you call JC they will get you a Tartan shirt using We Will Find It. I've had mostly good results from it. They create an order. And usually within the day, you receive an email whether a store has taken your order. Within the next day or two, you get notification that it has shipped. Since I've seen several stores with a handful of the Tartan shirt, I think there are enough around that you would get it no problem.

  85. Does anyone have the Dulphine bling-button cardigan? Is it itchy?

  86. Elizabeth: Thanks...there is hope! :) I called CS this morning to place a request, so hopefully by tomorrow I will have heard something.

  87. IRL, I was at the liberty place store in philadelphia. They didn't announce this to everyone but when I asked whether they had a promotion similar to the online discount, they said the entire store was 25% off.

It's interesting that B&Ms are running different promos...

    ReplyDelete
  88. Thanks Lucy! I guess different promo's at different stores is nothing new for JC.

    ReplyDelete
  89. IRL: that's strange that your local B&M wouldn't run the same promo as stated the e-mail.

I was at my B&M this Thursday to return a bunch of ride-alongs (I know it's tiring...) and things that didn't fit and defective/damaged items.

A lot of people were returning than more people were buying at one point. None of the sales SAs told me about their current promo and the sale section was such a mess that I didn't want to dig through. Why can't they either section them by sizes or colors? The table of cords were piled on sweaters and things SAs threw them down after the fitting room that I couldn't even bother to check for my size. I saw some new SAs (probably for holiday hours) so why aren't they folding these darn things neatly?

In the end I didn't buy anything. There was nothing I wanted even with the promo.

  90. I know this is a long shot, but has anyone seen a moss tweed pencil skirt, size 6, in their store? You'd make me a merry, merry girl ...

    ReplyDelete
  91. lucy - The SA probably didn't know about the 2nd tier of the promo. Actually, they didn't get the 1st part of it right because it's 25% on $125 or more, not the whole store.

I went into the store during the last promo that was 1st online and then got extended to the b&ms. The SA looked at me icily and insisted that the promo was for online only. I asked her to check and another SA came over and said -- "oops, I forgot to tell you." SA#1 profusely apologized, but it was sad. She was so mean at first. JC lacks communication in a big way. Just visit Madewell to see what their version of a wishlist is. *lol* We are still laughing, CarnivoreGirl.

  92. Was in my local B&M Saturday; signs all over the place "Additional 25% Off". Asked super nice SA and he said the entire store was 25% off, no minimum like online. He told me they were a "test store". This particular store doesn't have jewelry cases, but the necklaces and bracelets they did have were $10 off and then the extra 25% on top of that. Got some cute things to give as gifts. Unfortunately, store was pretty empty; I was the only one making a purchase. Kind of sad for a Saturday in December.

  93. Question: is the Sunnie pencil skirt (in the yellow colorway) on sale in the B&M? I tried it yesterday and loved it but was confused because it rang up fp and I remembered reading somewhere that it was in sale (or maybe it was online? Can't tell because it is sold out). It is on hold for me and would like to get it before the end of the promo, any help is appreciated. TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  94. Hi Ema, it is marked as full price in the B&M (although I saw the blue Sunnie in the sale section), however, if the SA calls CS they will confirm the sale price of $89.99. HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  95. Actually, I should clarify - CS can confirm the "last sale price" which is, the last $ it went for before being sold out. That's the number that the B&M will (hopefully) honor.

  96. OT but does anyone know what colors the Abby toe cap heels came in? I already have them in a pearly color with black patent toe caps. Did they come in another color that had gray toe cap? Anyone? Thanks in advance!!

    ReplyDelete
  97. Em, on eBay there is a pair of Abby heels that are a champagne color with a light grey toe cap. HTH!

  98. Has anyone purchased or tried the Sutton tall leather flat boots? I'm looking for a pair of tall dark brown leather flat boots and was wondering if these would work. Thanks!
Also- I stopped by a j.crew last night and noticed that Goldenrod brocade top was on sale for $69.99 and online it is still $99.99.

    ReplyDelete
  99. ilver_lining, thank so much. I went back with the information that you gave me and they honored both the online sale price and the 30% off. I only had to mention that I placed a big order yesterday. So happy!

  100. Did the Super 120s Elan ever come in Tall? I have the navy and black now and it looks like it is almost sold out but I wish it came in a 29" length for winter rather than the 26".

    ReplyDelete
  101. Thanks silver lining. It's hard to tell from people's eBay pictures sometimes.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Has anyone tried using the student/educator discount in-store on top of the GIFTS 25/30% off? Any luck? Thanks!

  103. Agree with all that the arms are getting too tight! I'm not thin but am petite (wear a 0p or 2p on top) but J Crew XS is now too tight for me.

I was excited about trying XXS because I thought they finally made a size for us petites.... wrong! My arms looked like sausages!

  104. Was able to find the Tartan perfect shirt in my size at the Dadeland Miami store. Sounds like they had other sizes too, so it's worth a shot to call if you're looking for one! (thanks to minniemousemiami for the tip!)

  105. MDPA: I got shot down twice about combining the teacher discount with the % off. I was expecting as much, but I still tried :)

  106. gigi & dina - thanks for the info!

  107. has anyone tried on the starry night mini? i'm wondering if i should splurge -- i really like the caramel color

    ReplyDelete
  108. Thanks, AppGal! I figured as much.

  109. thank goodness others are having the arm fit issue. I was starting to gain a complex that my arms are abnormally fat!

    ReplyDelete
  110. I agree with all the comments on the too tight arms! I tried on the cashmere v-neck, and the arms were way too tight, and the body was too big, no matter what size I tried. I did find a really nice v-neck at AT, and from humane wool!

I got back from my B&M about an hour ago. It's really bad when I can't find anything I want. Meanwhile, I had to make myself leave Talbots because there were too many cute things. I want to buy from J. Crew, really! They're going to have to meet me half way, though.

  111. The Jeweled bow ballet flats are 49.99 in-store vs. 89.99 online. Ordered a pair via red phone- unfortunately they charged me the online price instead of in-store price; they said I'd see a credit a few days after the charge. We'll see...

  112. himmiefan,

Did you happen to get a 40% off one item Talbots coupon? I found tons of cute things there on Wednesday but I was good and got my one item: the black watch plaid blazer. LOVE. Tempted to go back this Wed. as the coupon is good for that date as well. Heard about it on Facebook.

    ReplyDelete
  113. OT I know some jcas have recently taken to talbots - so I did a quick google search and was able to find a talbots blog which might be helpful! http://redchairconfessions.com/ I bet there are more out there too..! :) HTH!

I visited jcrew this weekend and there are a few things I have my eye on! I tried on the archer booties and I really love them. Im debating the black or the gray online.... Also the new(ish) sequin sweatshirt I finally tried on and was surprised how much I liked the lighter color! I have high hopes for the new arrivals this week too though!

  114. Eloise - Noooo, don't tell me about the coupon!! : ) I need to buckle down and just buy presents. Yeah, good luck to me!

    ReplyDelete
  115. jcrewphd: I read Lucy's comment as being 25% off on top of the Gifts promo. My store was running the Gifts promo + 20% off outerwear only, not another 25% off everything in the store. That's how I read Lucy's comment since JCA has known about the Gifts promo for days. Have a nice day!

    ReplyDelete
  116. himmiefan,

Good luck to you too! That is me too. I need to buy presents. That is why I only bought one item. I also told myself this morning I WON'T be going back Wed. I will shop tonight and get most of my gifts now completed:)
