Preface: A big "thanks!" to Ibi who suggested weekly 'Looking to LOVE' and 'Looking to HATE' posts where we could all "deposit" our best & worst current experiences. I think it is a brilliant idea and will try it out for a few weeks. Hopefully this will help out our fellow JCAs! :)
This is the weekly "Looking to LOVE with J.Crew" post, a place to share our favorite experiences with J.Crew.
If you have recently experienced a positive situation with J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.
Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including stellar experiences with purchases & orders, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

So this kind of takes the oomph out of the cardholder promo a little, timing wise. I know, I know, no minimum. But let's be honest, it's just as easy (for those of us with a B&M nearby) to throw in a ride-along and then return it later for free. Oh well, I am just happy there is a percentage off and free shipping for everyone, in some form.
ReplyDeleteJust grabbed the Cowlneck cashmere sweater and the cashmere boatneck sweater for awesome prices!
ReplyDeleteLove the 30% off sale with free shipping for cardholders!
ReplyDeleteCompletely agree with you, Em!
ReplyDeleteThis is a lot of promos and I love it, but does J. Crew's fiscal end in December? Are they pumping up the volume for year end? Because, wow. I could have saved another 5% on all the shoes I ordered but I guess it's not a huge difference. Loving all the promos though!
ReplyDeleteEm...agree!
ReplyDeleteEm, I agree, but you can save that code and use it until the 19th when perhaps things are marked down further, and still use the 30% between now and Sunday. Non-cardholders won't have that code in their back pocket for the better part of December. Does that help at all?
ReplyDeleteYay! % off with free ship! but...I can't believe I'm saying this... there's nothing I love enough to spend $150 to get the 25% off... This is a good promo though. At the moment the sweaters are still marked down, so if you're looking to pick up a couple, now's the time.

ReplyDeleteMarissa Web! I've just seen a pic of her in the UK press - no scanner but I'll take a photo of it and post it tomorrow, she is so utterly beautiful with perfect proportions, just like a porcelain doll - I want to be her.
ReplyDeleteI am a little cranky that they decided to run this promo a week after Black Friday. I could have saved another 5% plus had free shipping if I'd waited one more week, and everything I bought is still available. I'm almost tempted to go through the pain of reordering my entire order and returning, but I wouldn't be able to get my shipping back. Hrmph.
ReplyDelete:)
ReplyDeleteLove my black wool Charlie coat from HO '06 - double-breasted, Peter Pan collar, three-quarter sleeves. It puts a smile on my face every year when I take it out!
ReplyDeleteI think the cardholder perk is better. There is no minimum and that is what has kept me from ordering the entire month of Nov. that just passed us by...I know I will order with the no min. by Dec. 19.
ReplyDeleteI would have passed on this promo easily due to the higher min.
silver lining,
ReplyDeleteThose special pieces just make my day too:) congrats on your coat:)
I love my cashmere cowlneck sweater! I bought the blue color about 3-4 weeks ago during one of the promos. I decided to order the henna color for the holidays.
ReplyDeleteIf anyone was interested in this sweater the black and grey are on sale for $169 and you could possible use the GIFTS promo for an additional 25 or 30% off. So worth it! This sweater is cozy and classic.
silver lining I have that coat too! I got in camel at the end of the season for $75. You're making me want to wear it again. Too many coats stuffed in the closet. I'm not even looking at coats this year.
ReplyDeleteTabitha, I totally agree! Marissa Webb oozes style in her DNA -- always looks effortless, without being overwrought. Love this outfit - so simple yet chic & edgy. I know it's not typical JCrew & definitely not the old preppy look, but I still like it.

silver-lining and Elizabeth, I have that coat too in camel. I was pregnant when I bought it so I got it in a 4 but it fits more like a 2 which is my coat size now. I have been wearing it a lot this year and got a tons of compliments on it. The SAs at Jcrew couldn't believe it's an old Jcrew!
ReplyDeleteEma isn't it funny when you see the details on those older coats how much they don't do any more. A bit sad but it makes me appreciate my older coats. Who would have thought four or five years could be considered vintage?
ReplyDeleteI love my stadium cloth hooded coat!
ReplyDeleteElizabeth,
ReplyDeleteI know. The detailing on the older coats and blazers is amazing compared to nowadays!
I am a sucker for their holiday tees, and this year is no different. I LOVE the reindeer tee. It goes great with black or brown!!! I snapped it up early so that I can wear it every.single.day!!!
ReplyDeleteI recently bought the electra vest and LOVE it. The fit is great and it's even more beautiful on. Hoping to wear it this weekend. Also bought the baronet beaded vest and it should arrive today, hoping it's just as great as the electra.
ReplyDeleteAlso big thanks to JCrew for the promotions. I love that I can use the 25% or 30% now for my Christmas gifts and can hold onto the card member one for later for any last minute deals!
Elizabeth, yes you're totally right. I am broke so I can't spend $250 even with ride alongs, I'd feel too guilty. So, yes, I am still very happy about the cardholder promo. And all these promos... they still aren't as good as other retailers' but we'll take them, right?

ReplyDeleteI love the cece metallic ballet flats.
ReplyDeleteThey are gathered along the top (front) but not tight and feel oh so comfy.
They also run TTS!
I also bought some pj pants during the TURKEY promo and despite them being factory they are identical to an older pair I have (just in a a different colour)
And lastly, the dauphine sailor stripe sweater I bought on promo. It is very thin but I was looking for a layering piece over tanks to wear to and from yoga- this fits the bill stylishly and I really like the look.
I love my black Jennifer shirtdress. I wore it today with knee-high black leather boots and a small multi-colored Pucci scarf. It is so comfortable and flattering with such a ladylike silhouette. It is in the Paris catalog, Vanessa is wearing it with a pair a roller skates. I don't have the catalog but I remember the exact photo that inspired me to buy the dress, it looked so sweet on her. It still looks like new. My favorite shirtdress ever.
ReplyDeleteI just received the leopard print wide calf hair belt. I don't think the online picture does it justice because I think it's amazing in person. The width is such a nice change from the usual skinny belts. Love it!
ReplyDeleteEm,
ReplyDeleteI agree with you completely. Feel the same way.
Today I finally wore the black Crosby coat (style 18031) that I bought on FS in the summer. I love it!
ReplyDeletexoxo, I have that Jennifer shirt dress too in green and really like it. I don't wear it enough. Every time I do, I get tons of compliments.
ReplyDeleteI appreciated the 30%/no minimum cardholder promo very much. Thank you, J. Crew!
ReplyDeleteI went to the Factory Store this AM and the SAs were so nice (shout out to Woodburn JC Outlet!)!. I was incredibly obnoxious about checking out the best pricing and getting gift receipts and they were so accommodating. The one SA I worked with went online to double-check inventory and help calculate where I would get the best deal. I can't say how much I appreciate good customer service...I told her most of the savings I was looking for were probably going to be pumped right back to JCrew and she and I had a good laugh...
I mentioned this on a different post, but the wool/acrylic infinity scarves at the factory store are incredibly soft and a great deal at ~$20 with the current promo.

ReplyDeleteI just got the knit trapper hat in the cream color today, and although it looked totally plain on the shelf, it's really lovely on and so, so cozy and warm. It isn't too big or bulky and the plush lining inside is great, not itchy at all.
ReplyDeleteMy biggest J Crew successes are always with coats. Still love my knee-length black velvet coat from circa 2005 with the cropped sleeves, Peter Pan collar (can't remember style name any more), and brass buttons. I got a little tired of the brass last winter and switched out the buttons for bright colors. I get at least two compliments every time I wear it now.
The 30% off for cardholders with free shipping was a happy little treat! And ya'll, I've placed two orders in the past week and both have been delivered within TWO DAYS! They have been super efficient with their regular ground shipping and I'm super impressed!

ReplyDeleteI finally experienced the legendary JC customer service. I placed my 2 (gulp) GIFTS promo orders this weekend, and realized I wanted to add the Chevron Pleat Chambray Shirt. I called CS, they were able to honor the discount AND free ship, even though it will come as a 3rd order for me. I may even be able to get it in time to wear to a party or 2! Yay!!!
