This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)
If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the FALL sale, or to see some new HOLIDAY arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!
Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)
P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!
Boston Copley had a ton of sale stuff today. Cords, Colletta coats, scarves, henleys, shoes, chalet sweaters, shearling slippers, jewelry.... you name it. Things I looked at were priced the same as online.
ReplyDeleteEverything on sale another 30% as people said earlier. I was really tempted to go crazy, or even re-buy my online order at the lower markdowns. However, I know things will go even lower after Xmas.
I take back what I said earlier.... the Colletta in dark plum was $169.99 (- another 30%) in store, but is still full price online!
ReplyDeleteI don't foresee braving the mall this weekend. I'm 99.9% finished with my Christmas shopping and already placed a couple orders online with this promo, so there isn't really any reason to go.
ReplyDeleteLike FFM, the thought of going to the mall is not pleasant
ReplyDeleteI may go, because I have to return the pair of cropped tuxedo pants I received yesterday that were split about 5" on the seam where the satin stripe is. I hadn't even tried them on! Oh well.
ReplyDeletesub
ReplyDeleteI haven't stopped by yet (going tomorrow), but I know the Huntsville, AL does have an extra 30% off sale right now.
ReplyDeleteI went to the B&M at Easton in Columbus, Ohio yesterday and I was amazed at the size of the sale section. It looked like more than half the store was on sale. I finally got the 1035 glen plaid trousers I've been stalking (online for $99.99 but $49.99 + 30% off in stores). They didn't have my size so my SA Betsy (for those of you who shop Easton, the chic woman with the short red hair), called CS and got them to honor the in store price.
ReplyDeleteHere's some other stuff I saw: a few black waxed utility jackets for $39.99 before the discount, one black sasha stadium peacoat in size 6, a whole bunch of the Italian wool blazecoat, a few moss tweed minis, a lot of the gilded sweater jacket in grey, two racks of the chevron pleat shirt in all colors.
Slight OT question - do you folks think I am ok to delicate cycle cold wash my Pixie pants? The label says "Dry Clean" but not the more strict "Dry Clean Only". The are rayon, spandex and something else (currently wearing, would look super weird to check :) )
ReplyDeleteNope, I did a bunch of online shopping so I'm not going this weekend.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend everyone!
Rebecca, I wash my pixie pants in the handwash cycle on my machine using Woolite. I lay them flat to dry until the very end and then hang them. They turn out fine. Mine are the first generation pixie pants, I'm not sure if they changed since the first release but I thought the label on mine did say to wash on delicate. When I get home I'll check the label for content and instructions. I don't like the dry clean chemicals so only dry clean those items like suiting, that can't be washed.
ReplyDeleteI wonder sometimes if JC has any idea the bad will they create when they send those emails telling you they've canceled your order. It's the only retailer I buy from that has such a terrible inventory system that they don't even know what they have in stock. It doesn't matter if you order online or by phone, they take your order as if they have it, then sure enough, send you an email a couple of days later saying sorry, but no. Ugh, what a way to start the day.
ReplyDeleteI know Elizabeth. I'm still bummed they cancelled my double serge charcoal skirt! Ok, I'm through whining about it, I promise!
ReplyDeleteElizabeth and Jruby18: I agree that the cancellation emails are very disappointing and frustrating (I always think...yea, I wish you'd made enough, too), but it isn't just J.Crew. Talbots has a terrible inventory system and seems to sell a lot of product they don't actually have in stock (like J.Crew). I have had 3 orders I placed with them canceled on me in the last 2 months. I also just received one this morning from Anthropologie on a waitlisted item that was still available to order recently.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone taken the plunge on the boutonniere blazer?
ReplyDeleteI have been eyeballing it for months and want to bite with the promo but was wondering how it was IRL? and if the fit is TTS or a size down?
FFM that's interesting, I don't order from Talbots or Anthropologie so didn't realize. I feel like they should give you something when they do that to you like free ship no minimum or a discount on your next order - something, because you took the time to shop and purchase, or call and purchase, and you're waiting for the shipping confirmation (I chose expedited) and instead you get a big goose egg. Their perky email is annoying too "don't worry, we won't charge you". Ugh. Other than that, happy Friday!
ReplyDeleteI need to stop by to get a few more Christmas presents!
ReplyDeleteI do plan on going to do a return and check the store. I'm a bit bummed that they raised the cashmere crewnecks I wanted back to full price but if they think I'm paying $158. for them, they are crazy. I did get the Nutmeg brogues on promo and I must say I love them. I like that they are cut low, it gives it a more feminine look.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking they should do another 25% or 30% off everything promo at this point until they roll out spring. Other than shoes, the Tweed Tatum, a few cashmere colors and the Waverlys, Fall was not all that for me.
They could add some new colors for the Waverlys; I find them really flattering and the leg is narrow enough to not need to iron without being so narrow that I'm showing an xray of my knee caps. I've bought every color and several pairs of the Natural.
Elizabeth: I agree that they should offer you something for canceling on your order. Gap, ON, and BR usually send out codes for 10% off your next purchase if they cancel one of your items (which they rarely do in my experience). I think it's a nice gesture on their part and wish that the other retailers I shop at would do the same.
ReplyDeleteBtw, I have previously been able to get a price match of the canceled item at J.Crew if one pops back on the website again after a promo has ended. I just give them the order number that was canceled and they adjust the price for the new one accordingly. Not sure if they are still doing it, but it's always worth a try.
I went to the SLC Gateway store yesterday and the sale offerings there weren't all that great (although I did notice a Sunnie in a size 4 if anyone's looking for one). Our stores here just don't have much inventory, sadly.
ReplyDeleteI'm leaving town on Sunday and definitely looking forward to checking out some Crew while I'm on vacation though!
FFM, that's a great thought, I will probably try it if there's a popback. But there is something about these shoes and I'm starting to think they are not meant to be. I ordered them when they first came out and they shipped me two different sizes, (left one size, right a full size larger). I returned them in anger and didn't reorder. They go on sale, I order and they cancel.
ReplyDeletedisco george I do that too! I travel for work and I've easily been to thirty JCs across the country. I think it's funny that the higher end stores will get the premium items even if they are not in character for the location. Like winter boots in SoCal. I was able to get the MacAlister wedges in SoCal and saw them in Palo Alto earlier this week in the Nut color.
I may try this afternoon depending on mall traffic. My ruffalotta cami is going back. I'm so disappointed in the fit. On the site, the model's arm is hiding the fact that the shirt is a-line. Silly me assumed it would be fitted through the waist like my beloved Coralie and it SO is not. Fits like a tent and makes me look way bigger than I am. FAIL. :-/
ReplyDeleteUncertain about my dream v-neck cardi. The dried papaya color is quite true to the online swatch but it feels short on me. Maybe I'm just so used to the longer cardis, like the infinity, etc.? Anyhoo, I'm on the fence.
As expected, love love LOVE my double serge pencil skirt in pearl gray. I loathe the price I paid for it (you guys know I'm a sale whore, so $79.98 on a skirt is a lot for me, lol) but I know I'll get a lot of use out of it. :)
Rebecca, I just washed my Pixies in cool water/Woolite, despite the "dry clean only" tag. They are this year's version, and they turned out just fine!
ReplyDeleteI will be visiting to take back some stuff. But might wait til Monday when the crowds might be smaller...
ReplyDeleteRebecca, I have thrown my pixies in the washer with my normal clothes and then hung them to dry and they turned out perfect. It didn't even look like they had been washed. I laughed out loud when I first got them and saw the "dry clean" label. C'mon, J.Crew. Oh, and I have done this with the "first generation" pixies (good descriptor, xoxo!) as well as the newer ones that have the piece of elastic around the waist. Once I even accidentally put them through the dryer all the way and they came out fine. They are a resilient pair of pants...
ReplyDeleteJRuby18, it's ok. Complain all you want, I'd be sooo mad too! Especially for a coveted item like that. LAME, J.Crew! I'll be on the lookout for it at the Clearance store for you, if you want. They rarely get the good pencil skirts but there's a chance. 12, right?
ReplyDeleteJruby18: Can you possibly wear a 14 or maybe have it altered to a 12?
ReplyDeleteSo I placed another order (we'll see if it gets canceled too) and asked for expedited shipping. Since the shipping is free, I figured the $7. cost would be worth not having to wait a week or more. Well check your orders if you do that because it erased the free shipping.
ReplyDeleteI just called and they're going to fix it but they said the computers get confused by that even though you should get free shipping and the only charge should be the $7.
Sorry to be off topic but I have a question about the J.Crew card. I just got it about 5 months ago and I'm encountering a problem about paying early. My due date is on the 19th, but it won't let me pay before that without incurring a fee. Has anyone had this problem? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI'm finally finished the buy/return cycle. No J Crew for me.
ReplyDeletein B&M store I got Montreaux cardigan $39.99 (online $45), remini cardi at $29 (online $49), and a botton-less wool cardigan at $19. all with additional 30%!
ReplyDeleteI saw 2 infinity cardigans for $39 but those specific colors online they were more expensive, For some odd reason the xs were really tight around the arms and xs usually fits me just right.

Amanda, that is so crazy and frustrating. Why would you be charged a fee for paying early? I mail my payment from Canada pretty much the second the statement comes out as I am terrified of being charged any interest, my payment often gets in a week or so earlier than the due date. I would phone WFNNB and ask them what is up with that.
ReplyDeleteOh and I agree with everyone else, the Pixie pants wash up really well, handwash cycle hang to dry. I've washed mine so so so many times, I love them. My daughter has the newer ones and I wash hers the same way.
Gigi, I hear you. I am exhausted with JC!
ReplyDeleteAmanda,
ReplyDeleteWhenever I try to make an online J. Crew card payment, the earliest they will let me make one is two days from that date. So if it's the 17th, the earliest your payment will be credited is the 19th. If you need it credited earlier, I believe there is a fee. I believe you can make payments in the B&M too but I'm not sure how that works, and I've never made a payment by mail either. HTH!
xoxo, Opeliasmom, and Em,
ReplyDeleteThank you for the Pixie wash answer!
:)
Thanks Em! and yes, a 12. FFM, I thought about trying the 14, but I really think it'd be too big. If anything, I was going to try the 10 , but decided to just keep stalking for the 12.
ReplyDeleteThis is my first time posting on this blog, though I've been reading avidly for about a year.
ReplyDeleteRebecca- I purchased a "wonder washer" from amazon this summer because my landlord was not fixing the building's washing machine (and I have a germ problem with laundromafs). You fill this little tub with water and a TINY amount of detergent and then seal it... There's a hand crank that you spin about for a few minutes, then drain and rinse. It's amazing fir small loads of delicates and this is how I wash my pixie pants as well as my jcrew cashmere. Then just line dry. It's been amazing and I feel like stuff is cleaner than when I dry clean it. Hope this helps!
I pay my JCrew bill online as soon as it comes out b/c I don't want any late fees. I have no idea why you cannot pay it early. Strange. I would be calling about it ASAP.
ReplyDeleteRe: J Crew credit card
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the replies! I called them and they said that you can pay anytime but they will only process the payment on the due date. But here's the catch, if you pay any later than two days before the due date, you get charged a same-day processing fee. That's really sleazy.
I forgot to pay when I got the statement since I do it online, but next time, I'll pay ASAP so they can't pull a "gotcha" thing at the last minute. It's a really shady practice I think on the bank's part.
OT - Those of you who own the Ciel Etoile cardigan in natural/blush, what are you wearing under it? I've worn it with a white silk tee but would like to try other colors. I'm sure some of the wonderful JCAs would have a better suggestion than just white. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteOT but related to J Crew. For all the Canadian JCAs, I shipped my first order with Canada Post and was pleasantly surprised that I did not pay any duty or GST on a $300+ order. Nice, but not sure how it happened...
ReplyDeleteAlso found a present from J Crew in my order: a lovely bracelet I didn't order.
Jackie and Amanda, I have made several payments in the store and never had any trouble or any fees. When I first got the card, my ps told me that he thought if I paid online there could be a fee. Also, if you pay over the phone, there's a fee. You'd think they'd be happy to get our money, but I guess making it harder is more fun. :)
ReplyDeleteAmanda,
ReplyDeleteGlad you got an answer. That sounds right. I always pay "ahead of time" online but the processing date is the day it is due which I find nice.
Good to know that you cannot wait too close to the due date to pay. Thanks for that information.
Bobster,
ReplyDeleteI once found a pair of pants that I did not order--around this time of year too I believe. I took them back to the store. I am sure someone missed their pants:(
I stopped at the Ardmore, PA Jcrew today. Coats on sale!
ReplyDeleteForgive me if this is the wrong place to do this: I have a $150 gift card that I will sell for $125.
Interested? email thirteenlbs at gmail dot com.
I just didn't see anything I LOVED today, and would rather use the $$ mat another store.
What on EARTH is with the SHORT arms on their coats? I ordered 3 coats, one has really short arms, the other two are questionable. Not to the thumb joint as I have been told a blazer/jacket/coat should be. Even the pictures online, the shirt the woman is wearing is showing, to disguise how show they are. Weird.
ReplyDeleteTHEY JUST denied me a price adjustment on something that went on sale since I got it 30% off full price 5 days ago. JERK. Depends who you get. I will return and rebuy.
Its worth going to the store if you are thinking about taking advantage of the 30% off sale promotion. I found some great deals on items that are listed higher on-line. After 30% off - dessert cotten shirt $13.99, herringbone oona dress, $48.00, sequin rows tee $20.99. Also, I found a ciel etoile cardigan for $20.99.
ReplyDeleteOH, and I was on hold for 10 minutes while he did what, look through my account to see if I ask for price adjustments often? Then I asked for a manager, got "Hunter", and he said no too, that it's only on FP items that were not promo'ed. Total call time: 18 minutes. So, I just reordered, and if it's not cancelled, I will return this coat and save myself almost $65.

ReplyDeleteOT: Here's another look for the Tartan Plaid shirt for any of you who are interested. :) Lexington and Tartan Plaid
ReplyDeleteThanks, Erin! That Wonder Washer sounds neato.
ReplyDeleteBobster, I had the same thing happen twice too! I gather Canada Post is too busy to check the duty amount on everything. HST is applied to everything, but duty needs more calculations.
ReplyDeleteThe third time I wasn't so lucky! That's why I prefer to buy JC stuff when I travel to the US for work!
This is sort of OT, but I'm curious...
ReplyDeleteI recently had a Madewell order that was canceled because of an unspecified problem with the website that shows the item as available when it's not (problem still not fixed, 5 days later). An SA called, apologized and offered to locate the item at one of the stores and ship it out to me. Does anyone know if J. Crew offer that? I would think not, just because I've never heard of a JCA mentioning this service. Besides, there are many MANY more J. Crew stores than Madewell stores. It would be really difficult to locate an item by calling hundreds of stores.
not only is Dear Leader counting his profit before the deal closes, he's apparently spending it:
ReplyDeletewww.danshamptons.com/content/danspapers/issue39_2010/05.html
Went to the B&M, came out with a pair of matchstick cords and the Meadow Flannel Pant. There was a random pair of tall medium out, I got WAY too excited and basically ran to the checkout and asked for a price check since, being a non-retail item, the tag shows no price. The SA was like, oh, these shouldn't even be on the floor. We don't carry talls.
ReplyDeleteWell no kidding lady. But too bad, sell them to me! I knew they were sold out online and I hate pajama pants that are too short so I pretty much have to buy J.Crew tall ones. I was happy. But the SAs are so clueless sometimes in general... we JCAs know so much more about the merch than they do!
Returned Colletta coat in the lighter blue color, can't remember what it's called now but it was not nearly as pretty in person as it was on my computer screen. Sad.
They had many Sunnies. I tried it on to see what the fuss is all about and it was way, way, way too short. Hit a few inches above the knee and was so unflattering. I can see how I might like it if I was about 6" shorter. It is nice and thick!
Not much left in the sale section compared to a week ago. Same things everyone else has mentioned. The "leggy jeans" were $29.99. Tried the langley chinos, SO UGLY on... just unflattering. They have one pair in size 6. Matchsticks mostly in bigger sizes (30-32) for $39.99.
Oh and extra 30% off sale, NOT final sale, yay!
This is Victor, NY Eastview mall, btw.
Oh and the Sunnie is marked to $89.99 in the store.
ReplyDeleteI have two 30% cardholder only promo codes (these were the emailed ones). They expire on the 19th and I won't be using them. Email me if you want one.
ReplyDeleteredhed_01 at hotmail dot com
i went to boston copley today and they had 30% off sale items. it was pretty picked over. i was hoping to exchange the sequin bell skirt for a larger size to sit lower, but they were sold out of all their sequin skirts except for the starry mini in black (and it looked like there were a lot of pulls in the material -- maybe from people picking it over).
ReplyDeletebanana was also having 40% off your entire purchase today, so i got a sequin skirt there.
sub
ReplyDeleteBoth codes claimed!
ReplyDeleteHas anyone seen the tartan plaid shirt in XS or 0?
ReplyDeleteWhat was the price?
It is this one, by the way:

Please email me! Jcaldera7(at)gmail(dot)com
Thanks!
I'm also looking for the Tartan Perfect Shirt(#35236) in a size 4 and the Buffalo Check Jacket (#33795) in a size 6. If you find either at your B&M can you put them on hold for me?
ReplyDeleteroom568(at)hotmail(dot)com
Stopped by the B&M today and bought a sherpa hoodie for $27. The sales items were picked over. Lots and lots of tees languishing the sales area - took up much of the sales racks. Store was empty, but then it is Saturday night and it's rainy.
ReplyDeleteIf anyone sees a Joy of Art tee xs/s olive or white please put on hold for me:
ReplyDeleteMinniemousemiami@yahoo.com
Thanks
No way since it's the last weekend before Christmas. The malls are going to be a mad house, a mad house (think Charlton Heston). Traffic & parking at the mall is a nightmare. (Visions of bad drivers & the echo of honking horns fill my head.)
ReplyDeleteHas anyone else noticed the HO10 Scoop neck Perfect-fit tee's are gigantic?? I was shocked when I took it out of the bag.
I think I read where others ordered the dream sweaters in "Dried Papaya". I rec'd the "Dream V-neck Cardi" in this color. I love the bright color, and can live w/the shorter length (although the 12-gauge knit doesn't feel as soft as the 7-gauge), but am not sure what colors to pair it with besides white or some sort of (gasp) embellished tee, which I'm trying to get away from wearing so much. What color tops would you wear underneath? Blues?
Urban Chaos- I've tried on the boutonniere blazer many times, and it's one of my favorites to date. I like the urban gray the best and I believe it to be TTS but could use just a smudge more room in the shoulders. I just purchased this one myself.
ReplyDeleteCharlotteSometimes-I thought you can only get price adjustments on FP items within 7days of the day it ships. I recently got two price adjustments on items I purchased FP but with a %off promo, no questions asked.
ReplyDeleteThey priced adjusted the Colleta that I bought w/ a 25% off $150 or more. I called the next day when it went on sale, and they knocked off $104. However none of these discounts were specific item promos like a coat or sweater sale.
OT- I think I ruined my Muse Silk Shirt washing it in gentle Cold. What do you wash silk w/?
Crosby Lace Up Peep Toe. I've had my eye on this for several months, but couldn't justify buying them because I didn't know where I could wear them. Well, they went on sale (the black is still on sale for $99 from orig. $250) and I think I also got the 30% off, so I ordered them online. I just got them last night and tried them on. LOVE LOVE LOVE THEM!
ReplyDeleteI have a wide foot, so I can rarely order shoes that aren't wide. Boots are actually ok, they seem to be more forgiving. However, these shoes looked as great on my foot as they do on the models! 3 1/2 inch heel, though. I think I can wear them to a new job I started this week because I don't do that much walking, mostly sitting at a desk.
Buy them if you are on the fence. They are on final sale and once they are gone--that's it.
urban chaos: I totally agree with Wolfy about the boutonniere blazer. It fits TTS, and I really like it.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone seen the Crosby lace up peep toes in black in any of the B&M stores? I need a 6 and online they are sold out; they do have 6H however. Could anyone say how they run; sometimes on these platforms they run small. Thanks for any info!
ReplyDeleteCarla, not sure what size they were but they were small... they had one pair of black at the Victor, NY (Eastview Mall) B&M last night when I was there. I don't even know if they carry shoes but they had three random pairs on display. One of the Crosbys, one pair of Camden Brogues in the ginger color, and one other par.
ReplyDeleteDream V-neck Cardi-Is definitely a shorter cardi and not as soft as their other knits. I recently purchased this in Warm Pewter & Dark Cypress. I have so much clothing and cardis that I have to really be selective on what I keep. B/c the Cardi isn't all that great to begin with I only kept the Dark Cypress which is a very unique and beautiful color for my Olive Complexion. The Warm Pewter is a useful color, but I found very drab.
ReplyDeleteI will also be getting this in the Pale Plum soon, and will report back. The color choices, price point, & thickness of this sweater are awesome; but the lack of softness & shortness make this a sale only purchase in my book.
I'm picking up a huge order from UPS today and will report back on the Colletta, Peacoat & Glen Plaid Trench. I've way over bought this month, but still holding out for the Tweed Tatum to go onsale, as I'm sure a lot of us are.
Nomoneyfun, I don't know if you're still checking this, but I saw a couple of the buffalo check jackets at the B&M at Easton in Columbus, Ohio on Thursday. I didn't notice the sizes, but it might be worth a call.
ReplyDeletenomoneyfun - I saw a bunch of the Buffalo Check Jacket in the Cherry Creek (Denver) store on Thursday - didn't look at sizes but they had 5 or 6 of them at least.
ReplyDeleteSale section there was pretty sad - mostly tees and old sweaters. Some cords and coats, but not worth braving the crowds IMO. :)
HI Carla - I think that the Crosby Lace Ups actually run TTS. So - if you normally wear a 6, I'd go with that. I normally wear an 8 1/2 wide, but, as I wrote before, these fit my wide foot. Hope you can track them down!
ReplyDeleteJust did a posting on my blog with the cool J Crew pencil skirts (love that bright pink color). I love creating these outfits, and I do have some of the pieces (I have the green jacket), but it is much better on my budget to make a set on polyvore rather than buy it!
I did break down and buy the Sutton Leather Mid Heel Booties just now. I love the solid heel on this boot, which isn't too high. They look sleek but are walkable. Hope these fit my wide feet too!
Wolfy: have either of the Dream cardis pilled? I've been questioning whether or not to buy one all season. Had decided not to until I read a few good reviews on this blog recently.
ReplyDeleteAli-I haven't noticed any type of piling, but I've only worn mine a couple of times, but that's all it took for my Cashmere Cody to pill. It seems to be holding up better than most of the cardis I've bought in the last couple of years. It may be that the material that is helping it stay preserved, is also contributing to its roughness. It's not exactly scratchy or itchy, it's just not very soft.
ReplyDeleteIs there a way to keep a wishlist on J. crew website? I was wondering how you find out about popbacks. For the last couple of years I've been mostly an Anthropologie shopper, and I recently got back into J. Crew mode, but I find tracking their inventory difficult, especially trying to find things that are sold out online in stores. I feel that unlike with Anthro, with J. Crew if I see something I like I should grab it, because I may not be able to locate it again, even though it most likely is still available somewhere out there.
ReplyDeleteHope this is OK to post here, and any advice on tracking J. Crew items wishlist-style would be appreciated.
On another note, I got the Stadium Cloth Elements Coat at B&M for $199.99 (before extra 30% off). It was the only one, but if you are interested in that coat it might be worth trying to find it in stores, since it is still full price online.
Just back from my b&m. The sale mainly consists of tees, although there are some cords and pants with a variety of sizes. Also lots of bling button cardis. The golden bubbles pencil skirt is not on sale in stores and I noticed that the snowflake tee is cheaper online, but most prices are the same or cheaper in the b&m. I was able to red phone the black leggy denim and they price matched the store price (29.99 is much better than 79.50 :D). I tried on a new blouse and dress that I don't see online. I'm hoping the dress is still around when the rewards cards come out. I just can't spend much on myself right now. :)
ReplyDeleteIRL, I really like the dried papaya color with gray, both lighter pearl gray / heather gray and also with charcoal. I think it might work with a really dark brown too. Definitely not black (hello happy halloween, lol). ...
ReplyDeleteIRL, I think you could wear it with navy, cream, tan, maybe chocolate brown. You might wear it with a neutral pant but pop a light blue, teal, or turquoise under the sweater.
ReplyDeleteajr, Lauren PhD:
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the tips but my fickle fashion heart has decided on another coat!
Norfolk, VA store has the buffalo check jacket in a 0 and it was on sale + 30% off because it was a catalog return I think. They also had the green coletta in a size 2 on sale and a yellow stadium cloth pea coat in a size 2 for I think 149 plus 30% off. Lots of online returns so they had some good stuff in the sale section!
ReplyDeleteAnna - I did a little blurb for you on popbacks in this post.
ReplyDeleteThanks EM and STYLEONLINE!
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed I tracked down my number 1 choice: Talsbots platform menswear booties. I had all but given up when I saw the lovely Crosby lace up heels on sale...A good sale on both and both very cute shoes!
Desperately seeking red plaid crop trousers in size 8 or 10 - but I hear they are sold out nationwide. :o( This is one item I should have purchased on a whim!
ReplyDeletesub
I picked up part of my big order today. Hopefully the rest will come Monday.
ReplyDeleteStadium-Cloth Peacoat in D.Fatigue
The color is lighter IRL & does really good things for my Olive Skin. Fit is TTS and perfectly fitted in the waist; except the sleeves are too long. I'm debating on getting this one tailored b/c I really like it. Thickness is medium. I wouldn't wear this below 20 degrees.
Factory Printed Silk Streamers cami-Plum
TTS and very lovely under a purple cardi. Ties at the waist for a more fitted look.
Colletta Coat-Night Fall Blue
TTS, and a lovely color, I just don't think the color does anything for me. Sleeves are spot on, but it could be a little smaller in the waist. Still pretty TTS.
Silk Plaid Blousanna Tunic
Lovely feminine grungy blouse, w/ a bit of poof in the shoulders. TTS. Wearing this one w/ a Black Angora Cardi, so hopefully the poof won't be an issue.
Timex watch-Black & White
Frankly, I like the Black much more than the white faced version. IMO, both watches are much nicer than the $20 Timex you can buy at Target. The Black is much nicer and more expensive looking. The white looks like something I might have bought in middle school. I'm still thinking of keeping both, since I got a good deal on them.
Cashmere Fingerless Gloves
Loosey goosey & long. Not much function here. Going back.

ReplyDeleteI forgot to mention about the watch straps.
ReplyDeleteWatch Straps The straps are made w/ men in mind. I don't see how these straps can fit most ladies. I have a 6 1/2" wrist and I have to go to the first hole on most of the straps. B/c of this you end up with excess hanging out. Instead of folding the excess in, I'm probably going to cut off the excess & seal the end w/ a lighter.
Strap Hardware The straps that come w/ the watches have better quality pewter hardware, as opposed to the extra straps you can buy, which have silver hardware that looks as if it will eventually flake off.
I've decided to keep the Black & return the White faced Timex.
@Wolfy - good to know about the Timex watches. I debated for months over this watch (over $100 for a Timex seemed crazy to me) but after a lot of hunting, I couldn't find a similar watch that was cheaper that didn't actually look cheap. Then I couldn't decide between white or black faced version. After seeing a picture of a model in a recent catalog wearing the black faced watch with a red strap, I decided to go for the black one. Managed to get it on the 25% off promo last month but waiting for my dad to bring it to me over the holidays.
ReplyDeleteWolfy- Thank you for your review.
ReplyDeleteAs a Canadian I just guess blindly since we don't have a B&M store to speak of (at least not until the end of '11 here) when I received the second sale alert from shopstyle I bit on the price and the decision to purchase the urban grey was made based on available stock.
I'm hoping the fit works *crosses fingers*
Okay, don't stone me but I think I may keep the white faced one as well. I can see the advantage w/ having a lighter one that goes well with different light color straps and more delicate looking clothes.
ReplyDeleteI still think the black one is nicer. That's just me though.
Louise: I have no doubt you will like this watch. It's attractive and very functional (takes a licking & all that.) I debated forever too, but w/ no FS & 30% off I too the plunge. CharlotteSometimes also told me about a local SF Watch dealer that looks pretty good. Check out: Tokyobayinc
ReplyDeleteUrban Chaos I'm a casual dresser and I really love how this blazer is a bit in between. Instantly gives jeans a bit of polish and edge. Of course, I'm going to have to cut that fake flower right off when I get it.
jruby18: Size 10 in the skirt online now.
ReplyDeleteThanks Elaine & MathTeacher!
ReplyDeleteFFM, thank you so much! I decided to order both the 10 and 14 and I'll work w/whichever fits better.
ReplyDeleteWolfy, I also had tried the Stadium Cloth Pea coat and felt the sleeves were too long. I thought that about most of the coats this year.
I wanted to mention that I got the silk Glacee tunic in olive w/my 30% off promo (I believe it's still FP). I absolutely LOVE it! I wore the olive green tissue tee underneath it for warmth and wore w/skinny jeans and it is FAB! Especially for those of us that are on the bigger end of the sizing spectrum, I felt it was great for the skinny jean look. It runs TTS to a little roomy, which I didn't mind b/c I knew I'd want to layer underneath since it's silk. I wish it came in other fabrics that were more practical. But even so a definite love.
jruby18Thanks for the tunic review. It looks like a comfy shirt.
ReplyDeleteI'm a little conflicted on what I should do about the Peacoat. I've tried this on instore quite a few times and I don't remember it being so grossly long in the sleeves. This may be just a defect in the one I received. Can I get a clean exchange online if I think there is a problem? If not I guess I'll just fork over the $$ and get it tailored. I really hate returning it b/c I love the color and the fit is perfect otherwise.
For any JCAs in the Milwaukee area, head to Bayshore instead of Mayfair if you want to find some great prices. Their sale section was PACKED, and I found so many great things. I practiced some serious self control and only left with the falling beads cami (29.99 plus 30% off) and a pretty pearl cuff bracelet (19.99 plus 30% off). I'm going to be at the J Crew in Madison today and will report any other finds for my fellow WI JCAs...
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know if the "Vintage cotton ribbon henley" is TTS?

Well, apparently I've been in J. Crew withdrawal this last year as I was pregnant with my second child. Between the 30% off for cardholders offer and the additional 30% off sale items I got (this weekend): 3 tissue turtlenecks, red gingham perfect shirt, 2 pairs of tights, cashmere v neck sweater, 1035 trousers, sweet nettle perfect shirt, cashmere v neck henley, chinos, and 3 cambridge turtleneck sweaters via "we will find" (fingers crossed)!
ReplyDeleteLove the free shipping! The closest store is 2 hours and it is really small.
Finally scored the wide suede floppy belt in smoky graphite this morning! So happy! There were plenty of items that had also popped back on the sale site this morning but having already spent several hundred dollars over the past month on JCrew stuff (with what seems to be continuous promotions!) I limited myself to the belt, and didn't waste any time looking at anything else. Looking forward to getting this and maybe pairing it with the wool bell skirt.
