25% Off and Free Shipping on $150+ {In Stores & Online}

"Thanks!" to many of you, including Christy (in this post), Closet Crisis (in this post), who shared with us the latest promotion from J.Crew this morning.

J.Crew is offering 25% off and free shipping on orders of $150+ with promo code PRESENTS. This promotion expires this Monday, December 13, 2010. The fine print includes:
*Offer valid in J.Crew retail stores and at jcrew.com only. Offer is not valid at J.Crew Factory stores. Offer does not apply to previous purchases, alterations or the purchase of gift cards. Offer not applicable to third-party branded merchandise. 25% discount applies to purchases of $150 or more before shipping, handling and taxes are added. Previous purchases are not eligible for free shipping discount. Free shipping on Internet orders shipped via regular shipping (3 to 6 business days). Free shipping offer applies to online-only orders of $150 or more before 25% discount, shipping, handling and taxes are added. Offer valid through Monday, December 13, 2010, 11:59pm ET. Savings are applied at checkout with code PRESENTS. Offer not valid on phone orders. Cannot be combined with any other promotion or redeemed for cash. Limit one promotional code per order.
I am happy to see all these promotions back to back! Even happier that these promotions are for both in-store and online purchases too!

I stopped by a brick & mortar (B&M) store last night and found that there was an additional 25% off all items (sale and regular priced) with no minimum. "Thanks!" to Rose (in this post) & Laura who also confirmed the same news at their local B&M stores. The sale items were final sale if you took the additional 25% off (which isn't that bad since you can try it on before deciding).

Will you take advantage of this latest promotion? If so, what items did you pick up?

  1. I'm glad to see they're offering another % off promo on everything. These are especially nice if you're one of the lucky ones to have free shipping on your account, too.

  2. FFM, you are up so early! :) I agree with you this promotion is great too. :)

  3. I work right nexr door to a B&M and am marching in there bright and early this am to see if I can return and rebuy the lace tee that I bought YESTERDAY (and will have to buy something else to get to the $125....need some stocking stuffers anyway)in order to get the 25% off. This always happens! Customer service would not let me combine my cardholder 30% off/FS with my in store find of the tee (although I did not really expect them to!) and there are no more XS in black left online.

  4. Well shoot. Just as I placed an order 12 hours ago. Son of a gun I hate it when this happens and I miss the discount.

What is up with inventory this season? My B&M was cleaned out of men's clothes (seriously, bare shelves) and online is cleaned out too.

  5. I was so proud of myself for NOT placing an order... and then I did... Shoes: bow and chain ballet flats (31975) down from $168 to $52.50 after discount... and the jc ballet flats have been noticeably more comfortable this year... and the camden brogues in light ginger (23926) down from $250 to $75 after discount... hard to resist...

  6. Wow, this is nice that they're offering another promo, especially including free shipping!

  7. either some lower prices or popbacks - either way scored a couple more work items for cheap! YEAH!! Hopefully these will work out.

OT - in my Dec catalog I had a promo for 20% when paying with an AMEX.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Lame - the coat I wanted is back in stock. 2 CS reps said it was not going to be back in that size and color. Figures its back after the coats promo ended. I hate the lies!

    ReplyDelete
  9. I also got a 20% off in my catalog. I can't eve believe I got the catalog!

    ReplyDelete
  10. A, email erica@jcrew.com with the details of your recent experience and see if the Personal Shopper who responds will extend the promo for you.

    ReplyDelete
  11. OT - posting in this thread because Alexis said it was OK to post one-day promos for other retailers. Brooks Brothers daily deal for today is 40% off fall watches, fragrance, jewelery and cold weather accessories.

Fabulous Florida Mommy, I love your avatar.

  12. How suspicious that now the Stadium-cloth peacoat (and maybe others, but I didn't check) is back in stock in all colors in my size. During the outerwear promo, it was only in stock in yellow, gray, black, and white.

    ReplyDelete
  13. xoxo - I called the cardholder line and the ps honored it for me! Its going to ship on 12.20! I still can't stand the lying!

    ReplyDelete
  14. The sequin sweatshirt appears to be back in stock for those of you who were interested! :)

    ReplyDelete
  15. A, don't we all hate the inventory games that J.Crew plays! It's either really nefarious on their part or their inventory/web application is just pathetic. Glad you were able to get your coat though!

    ReplyDelete
  16. I found a lot of goodies this morning and the "personal chat" person extended the discount to a large order i placed last night before i went to bed!

As of last night the Stadium Cloth Pea Coat was marked down to $149.00 at the B&M plus an added 25% off in store promotion.

  18. Awakening my wardrobe: Whoa, thanks for the heads up! I wear petite, which I know is not carried in-store, but maybe they'll let me order that via red phone.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Oh, by gosh, by golly
it's time for mistletoe & holly
    tempting offer, presents I ordered
    ....
and now I wait to see if order actually ships.

Seriously, only with J.Crew do I dread looking at my mailbox for several days after an order for fear of seeing the old "news about your order: IT'S BEEN CANCELLED."

    ReplyDelete
  20. FYI I called my store and they said that this will apply on top of other promos (for example, tissue turtlenecks are an extra $20 off right now and then if you make the $150 min you get the 25% off on top of that) she also said that it will apply to sale and WILL NOT make it final sale (so a nice benefit because of gifting!).

    ReplyDelete
  21. If anyone goes into a B&M, could you see how much the 1035 glen plaid trousers are? They were marked down to $99.99 online and I'm tempted to get them with my 30% off cardholder discount, but I wonder if they're even cheaper in store (my closest store is 30 miles away). Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  22. I'm loving all these promos! Although I'm glad I jumped on the outerwear discount last night at the last minute. Hubby decided to have no secrets this year for Christmas and ordered the Stadium Cloth peacoat for me last night...it will be my FIRST j.crew coat ever! I was between that one and the Ever Peacoat, but the Stadium Cloth one looked more flattering. For those of you who have it, how is the warmth factor?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Cashmere boatneck sweatshirt -- can anyone comment on fit?

I usually wear a XS or Sml but the color I want are sold out. If anyone's bought the autumn pumpkin color, pls comment on whether it's more red or orangy -- color looks like a gorgeous red onscreen -- that that true IRL?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Connor, the autumn pumpkin color is definitively orange (very warm and pretty, but orange). HTH!

  26. Connor-

I just received the cashmere boatneck in peacock yesterday. It's slightly slouchy and long; I probably should have sized down to an XS. I ordered the S. For reference I'm 5'1. The boatneck isn't very wide for a boatneck.

I've decided to return it because I just didn't feel it looked all that WOW on me and frankly I have enough cashmere sweaters that if it doesn't wow me, it goes back.

    ReplyDelete
  27. AppGal, the stadium cloth peacoat is very warm. The fabric is really thick and plush, which is probably part of the reason J.Crew does not offer it with Thinsulate. It would make it bulky and likely too warm with Thinsulate because it is very cozy on its own. It also really cuts the wind, especially if you pop the collar.

The tailored, set-in waistband is a very flattering feature as well. Which color did you get? I hope you will post some IRL photos on your blog when you get it.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I ordered the Coletta coat with Thinsulate in black just after midnight. The 30% off outerwear still applied, so with the additional 25% off, I ended up getting it for $172, which I think is a pretty good deal. However, at the moment, it's waitlisted, and I'm dreading a cancellation e-mail!

    ReplyDelete
  29. xoxo: Thanks for the info! I think I definitely made the right decision. I picked the heather charcoal because I needed a nice, basic color. I will make sure to post pics when I get it!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Just noticed the tweed tatum jacket back in stock in my size. Does anyone have this jacket? It seems like a really versatile piece and the 25% off is tempting me...

    ReplyDelete
  31. AppGal --

I also have the Stadium Cloth Peacoat. I love love love this coat! Hands down the best coat I've owned in quite a few years! The silhouette is fitted and flattering. It's very warm without being bulky or heavy. I've worn it almost everyday for a month now, and luckily no pilling or other issues. I have it in dark fatique and it's a pretty color. Hope you will like yours too!

    ReplyDelete
  32. I still have my 30% off (w/ free ship, no min) cardholder promo, so probably won't be taking advantage of this. My bill was ri-dic-u-lous last month . . so been trying to be good. :)

However, I just can't bear to let that 30% go to waste . .so does anyone have any feedback on the "Taffeta Marvelle Mini"? I think the Manchester Purple is a very pretty color that I could wear into other seasons. Thanks in advance!!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Chelsea - I have the Tatum jacket, and very much like it. Fits true to size through shoulders and body. The sleeves are bracelet length, which I don't mind because I don't have long arms.

Fabric is beautiful. Rich greens, with dark blue and some lighter flects of white and purple. Works well with navy or black (something I love). Like the more modern detailing (snaps instead of buttons) and unfinsihed trim. Dresses up jeans nicely, and also pairs well with a skirt for a look that is polished and not frumpy.

I've received many complements on the jacket.

    ReplyDelete
  34. mjones: oh hooray! I'm so excited! Looks like I was right about the Stadium Cloth peacoat being more flattering than the Ever peacoat. It just looked less bulky with that waistband. Thanks so much for weighing in :)

    ReplyDelete
  35. Yikes, falling into the purchase and return trap with falling prices and new promotions rolling out all the time. Its exhausting, and makes me rethink shopping at all.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Thanks Meme! Just pulled the trigger....

  37. Just came back from returning cashmere Boatneck. V. long, belting did not help, belting & blousing made it worse. Was not thrilled with where shoulder seam fell either.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I really didn't see this promo coming just when we had the GIFTS promo last week. But then it's better than nothing and I'm glad JC threw in free shipping.
I ordered the tuxedo blazer since there were only few left in my size and some shoes than were marked down further. Couple shirts for DH and my dad and some CC for my girls. Need to give the card a break. ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  39. Stopped by the store last night and picked up a couple last minute stocking stuffers- candles, lotions, socks, scarves...the managers were so helpful!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Argh, the second I got the email I went online to purchase the Shearling Quoddy Handmade Suede Ring boots (as of 1am they were available in every color) and the double ring and single ring boots were mysteriously gone. This also occurred during the last 20% off sale and returned the day they sale ended. Coincidence..........?

    ReplyDelete
  41. Claire, as the fine print says, the promos are not applicable to 3rd party branded merchandise. I guess they take the stuff off the site rather than have customers call to complain the promo is not working.

    ReplyDelete
  42. With all the promos that have happened these past few weeks, there is nothing left I can justify buying right now. Congrats to those buying items they want on promo!

This is probably a long shot, but if anyone sees the Tartan perfect shirt size 0 in a B&M, could you please hold it for me? I did a we will find it for you search with no luck. I would be so grateful!!!

    closetchronicles@gmail.com

    ReplyDelete
  43. Andrea: you should try the WWFIFY search again, or get your online PS (if you have one) to look for you. My first search came up negative. Then I asked my PS and she was able to track one down with no problem. Hope you find one!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Appgal, thanks for the advice! I left a voicemail for the online PS who was helping me in the search, she off on Thursdays so hopefully tomorrow she'll be able to track it down.

But if anyone sees one, please let me know!!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Oops, she *is* off on Thursdays.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Alexis: I'm always up early in the morning. It's nice to enjoy the quiet house before my boys are all awake. You were up pretty early this morning yourself, too. :)

    xoxo: THANK YOU! :)

  47. I ended up going back in today to get the woolly ribbed turtleneck that I wisely put back on the rack the other day, holding out for extra % off. :)

I tried on several other items but didn't buy 'em. But I scored for my son on Crewcuts, as they must have done another round of markdowns since I was there 2 days ago. Got some super cute things for him practically for free, yay!

    ReplyDelete
  48. OT, but I just read this really interesting article on Slate about the pricing games that online retailers play. Doesn't specifically mention JC but I know this topic has come up here before. It looks like one way to fight back is to clear your cookies regularly.

  49. Ok, just when I thought I was done with the Crew for awhile....sale was 25% off (making it final sale) and the 25% $150+ was still applicable....so I scored a dot flouncette blouse - someone was just saying it wasn't worth $59.99 - definitely worth 16.87!!!,traversa tank (runs huge) 19.70, in-store pearl and crystal elastic bracelets for 11.24 and those plain pearl necklaces for 8.53. Excellent little extra gifts to have around for the holidays :)

And I'd love to find a size 4 tartan boy shirt, if anyone sees one :)

  50. outerwear -- Mad Ave/64th St. (NY) had a lot of Buffalo Check jackets and had 30% off outerwear promo sign up at 1 p.m. today. Mentioning because it's sold out on line. Still haven't decided if keeping mine.

    ReplyDelete
  51. My B&M is doing 25% off purchases over $150, not 25% off anything. A few sale notes:

Colletta coats (without Thinsulate) were marked down to $198 for all colors except the plum, which was $169

    Stadium cloth peacoats $149.99

    Long Maribel puffer $149.99

Bronzed leopard cardigan $59.99 (it's $49.99 online). I have been wanting for for ages and finally tried it on and found it terribly boxy and short, so I passed. I didn't try to see if the SA would match the online price since I ended up not wanting to buy it.

I ended up getting the long Maribel puffer. The SA was kind enough to give me the 25% off, so it came to about $112.

  52. Cass - excellent article and reminder to clear you cookies before shopping.
    Thanks.

FYI When I called a few J.Crew stores to find another item today I was told that Stadium-cloth pea coat is full price minus the 25% promotion. J.Crew's price differences between stores and online with so many promotions is baffling. Good luck with getting your coat. At least it is back online in the color you wanted and hopefully your B&M will honor the 25% off in store promotion on the red phone since they don't stock petites.

    ReplyDelete
  54. The Raleigh, NC store had 3 double-serge pencil skirts, all size 12. Two were ochre/yellow and the other was the most gorgeous purple-y pink ... I wanted it so badly but the cost of having it taken in negated the discount.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Interesting that some of you are saying your stores have 25% off sale PLUS the 25% off $150+. I bought a coat on sale and only got the 25% off $150. Another 25% sure would have been nice! The good news is that my purchase wasn't final sale.

    ReplyDelete
  56. One of the three B&Ms close to me in the DC area (Tyson's) is having a 25% off everything situation, which began yesterday (12/08), but the store manager told me that their store is a test store for this promotion and that not all the local stores are doing it. A second of the three B&Ms (Bethesda) is definitely NOT doing a 25% everything. Seems a little unfair, no?

    ReplyDelete
  57. audreys,

Do you happen to know how long the 25% off promo at Tysons will last? TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Awakening My Wardrobe: I wish I'd seen your post sooner! I went into my nearest B&M to red phone the coat, hoping I could apply the $149.99 in-store promo even though I saw no actual Stadium-cloth coats (aside from the Milo) in the store.

First of all, holy shit - the red phone kept crackling and the CS guy who helped with my order was so quiet that, combined with the loudness of the store, I could barely hear him! He also would not honor the $149.99 in-store price, since I could not find an in-store rep to confirm the in-store $149.99 price and he "had no way of confirming it." True, I get that, and I suppose from his POV I could've been a lying customer so fiending for my nordic blue peacoat that I would lie to save $40. HOWEVER, no. I was not lying. But I ended up paying $119 since I had a $40 Crew giftcard + a $25 Amex giftcard. Phooey.

That being said, I am super excited to receive the coat (assuming it arrives). I've been wanting that particular color & style all season, and $119 vs. original $245 is a sweet deal. (He did offer the "25% off everything" promo that my store was having, which was nice.)

Price vs. online disparities are just sad. Crew, I love you, but your trickery is uncalled for. /rant

    ReplyDelete
  59. According to my ps, 25% off total purchase, except name brands, no minimum. Makes no sense that different stores are offering different promos. I'll be down to check out my b&m on Saturday.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Just FYI, I went in to my local B&M and returned and rebought the lace tee today (and bought some other items , too, to get to the $150 to get the %25 off) and the SA was very nice about it. I don't know if it was a mistake or not, but the Embellished Perfect shirt in charcoal was on sale in this store fr $49.99 and it is still $98 online. Bought it and got the additional 25% off which brought a $98 shirt down to about $37.50!

  61. Hmm, wasn't there supposed to be another mini-rollout on December 7? Did I blink & miss it?

    ReplyDelete
  62. wellfedfred, I thought so too but there was nothing I could see. I commented about it and someone else said they could not see anything new either. I thought they would have at least one last rollout before Christmas. Where are the red Christmas sweaters?

OT - I read in the WSJ that the new hue for 2011 is Honeysuckle Pink. I love bright pink and hope 2011 will blow the nude and makeup shades, drab military greens and grays out of the picture. J.Crew does color so well, I will love it if they do a lot of cool pinks.

  63. I'm bored so I'm playing "let's spot this week's new arrivals".

    Jeweled Tulle Pinafore?
    Knit Houndtooth pant?
    Twill Hayward Trousers?

    Anyone wanna chime in?

    ReplyDelete
  64. Closet Crisis...lol, that game can last for hours, because everything looks the same! I guess whatever isn't marked down is at least one day old...right? ;)

    ReplyDelete
  65. Awakening My Wardrobe and MDPA, thanks for the tips about the 149.99 stadium cloth pea coats. I was actually holding out for a Coletta but the positive comments about this coat made me re-examine it. Looking at it in the store, it looked great and I was happy toget the 25% off on top of that. Without your help, I don't think I would have sprung for it!

MDPA, I do wish my store had the $198 Colettas though! Has anyone seen them in the Bay Area?

    ReplyDelete
  66. Regarding a mini rollout, I saw 3 or 4 pieces. One was a denim mini that was so thin and short it looked like it was for a Barbie. Of course I'm exaggerating and I *was* looking at the 0, but srsly, they've undercut their already short minis. Another item was a denim halter cut dress. I didn't pay it much attention. I can't say it ties at the neck. I just noticed that cut-in style at the chest. And there were one or two pieces that seemed to be like previous items. I didn't even bother picking them up. The newer items seemed like resort. An SA said they were pushing things up a bit as far as their timeline. ?

    ReplyDelete
  67. I'm reaching saturation point (my wallet thanks me) with all the recent promos. Holding out for super cuts on coats after Christmas (but did try on for size already)

    ReplyDelete
  68. I noticed one new item in the store yesterday that I liked, and it was just a simple cotton pullover hoodie in a kind of striated cream/tan pullover. It was priced at $59.50 FP, so with the 25% off, a nice price for a comfy piece that could be worn year-round.

    ReplyDelete
  69. AHHHHHHH. The Stadium-cloth coat is now out of stock in nordic blue in my size. I ordered it yesterday via red phone, but this morning, it's out of stock. CS says they think my particular order is probably safe and is expected to ship later today, but having read all the horror stories on this blog, I'm nervous. Any reassurance any of you can offer? Has this kind of close call happened to you before?

    ReplyDelete
  70. Elaine, can you tell me if the double serge skirts were marked down? Do you recall the price? TIA.

    ReplyDelete
  71. JulieY,

There will be some super deals on coats after Christmas. I always hold out and have a nice collection of JCrew coats bought on super duper sale so I don't need more but WOW the deals to be had will be amazing. So hold out for sure:) good to try on for size ahead of time though.

  73. Jackie, the manager I spoke to did not know... presumably it will be at least as long as the 25% off $150 sale online (through Monday Dec. 13) since it started in the same timeframe (one day prior)... Sorry not more helpful. I do think it is worth checking out -- lots of new markdowns.

    ReplyDelete
  74. I'm pretty sure there were a bunch of new additions to the site earlier this week, but it was all pretty boring stuff - not what you would think for this close to the holidays. And all the pictures were of the black or grey version, so they really didn't pop.

I would have expected more holiday looking things. Haven't been to a B&M in weeks, so can't speak to that.
