This is the weekly "Other JCrew-like Retailers" post (similar to the "Off On A Tangent" posts), where we can share our finds from other retailers that have offerings similar to J.Crew (like LE Canvas, Gap, BR, Talbots, Ann Taylor, and the like.)If you have recently encountered items that are similar to J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

ReplyDeleteI recently received some delicious items from Talbots and wanted to share some reviews...The satin rosette tote is lovely online but even lovelier IRL - highly recommend! It is quite a large handbag.
In addition, the leather bomber jacket is fabulous. I was lucky enough to find one on a popback. The leather is so soft and it is a beautiful shade of cognac.
Also, received the haircalf, leopard tote and it too, is divine. It is a nice size and very vintage and classic looking.
In the clothing department, I bought the brushed back wool jacket and pencil skirt in camel. I ordered a petite 0 and it actually fit. The two pieces make quite a sharp looking suit.
Next, I tried the croc-embossed platform heels. While they are gorgeous, I find that Talbots' platforms seem to run big. I plan to try them in a half size smaller.
Lastly, the piece de resistance for me is the pure, camel hair coat that I just purchased from Brooks Brothers. This is my first purchase from them and definitely won't be my last. I am really impressed with the quality. The style of the coat is classic - I know I'll be wearing it 20 years from now - so that helped to justify the purchase! LOL

ReplyDeleteGood morning! Two days ago I purchased a few enamel bangles from a Kate Spade factory store. Yes, some of the offerings were made specifically for the factory store, but I still find transfers from retail stores. If not sure, just ask what they have from retail. I love KS's bangles. They remind me of the ones JC used to sell up until about 3 years ago. Call your local Kate Spade factory to see if they are still offering the 40% off additional discount. If you miss the bright colors that JC used to offer in their bags, KS has some options. I found 2 cute bangles for $23.99 apiece. They had retailed for about $100 ea. in the stores. I also found an AMAZING deal on platform sandal heels---85% off. BTW, they are all leather (upper, lining and sole!!!!! Hint, hint, JC) The factory stores do ship for a flat fee of about $5.00 if you don't have a KS store within driving distance. Check www.outletbound.com to find locations of KS factory stores.
ReplyDeleteLove my black watch plaid blazer from Talbots. Got it 40% off in early December. What a gorgeous well made jacket.
ReplyDeleteI also ordered several scarves and two of the velveteen double breasted jackets (one black and one green) that can be worn 2 ways with the buttons opened at the sides. I should get those items by Friday.
It is so nice to shop Talbots sale and be able to return if needed. I am staying away from final sale at JCrew. Too many other stores with cute items to be found that are returnable.
I am glad I ordered a few JCrew things BEFORE Christmas.

ReplyDeleteMy MIL gave me this Talbot's silk twill scarf in the Aster colorway for Christmas. It's quite pretty and decent quality. The blue colorway is on sale so I ordered it. A steal for $30 IMO, and both these scarves are in colors that will work with many things in my wardrobe. I love scarves and these are large enough to wear tucked into my J.Crew Banquette dresses, as well as a myriad of other ways.
ReplyDeleteI was not enticed by anything I saw in the Talbot's B&M before Christmas but I will keep an eye on their silk scarves from now on.

ReplyDeleteI have both of those same scarves too! I got the purple one 40% off with a special coupon the second week of Dec. and I ordered the blue one on Dec. 23 and it came Dec. 24. Fast ship:)and free ship!

ReplyDelete@Eloise TY for the info about Final Sale. I pulled the trigger and just as I was thought I hope this isn't a FS. Nothing seemed to be marked. I got a couple of the Scoopneck Cashmere Sweaters which are lovely and the Military Peacoat became available in Black. I bought in in Navy but prefer the Black..it is gorgeous.

Brooks Brothers semi-annual sale is underway with 40% off a number of items. They will be marking down winter stock going forward so it's a good time to check out the store or online. If I get any extra % off codes I'll post them here. They do offer free shipping at various lower levels from time to time but there are no codes for that, they just don't add shipping at the checkout.

Genny, you can usually find black velveteen during one Christmas holiday or another. Green, not as common. That's my vote ;-)
