  2. This is a first. I am so excited to to receive this offer. I thought about cancelling my card so many times b/c there were zero perks unless you spend big $$$ and I have not spent much like I used to for the past year. Thanks JCrew for finally listening.

Back in Dec. 2007 I think it was they sent cardholders a necklace and it was so nice. But since then really nothing special just for us. 3 years has been a long wait.

  3. I am a bit in shock. I held onto my card and have not used it in much lately. I thought closing it might hurt my great credit rating. I am going to hold out until Dec. 19th and see how low prices will go....

  4. Yay! This is exciting news, it will be a J Crew christmas for everyone in my family :)

  6. Very interesting... I think we should all thank Hexicon for her persistence in mentioning the (lack of) cardholder sales! Thank you, Hex!

  7. Yay! I've been waiting for a great promo like this! I hope they continue this is the future!

  8. Finally!! This is a long time coming, and I'm really excited to see it.

  9. I was excited to see this in my inbox this morning! It will be hard to decide when to use it... I too may hold out for some better sale prices.

  10. Heehee. Not sure what to do - get a sweater or 2 now with the sweaters on promo or wait? I really like the cashmere cowlneck sweater - any idea how this one runs?

    ReplyDelete
  11. A little OT, but can anyone comment on the difference between heather acorn and heather saddle?

    ReplyDelete
  12. Love it! I will take advantage of this offer for sure. :)

    ReplyDelete
  13. It's about damn time. But I'm still canceling my card after the terrible customer service I've received from the card company.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Not a cardholder, but YAY for those of you who are! What an amazing (and long-awaited) offer! Happy shopping :)

    ReplyDelete
  15. I used my code!

It also worked on a sweather which was already 25% off! horray! So I really save some $ today.

    Plus, free shipping.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Fabulous! No minimum! I am not supposed to be shopping for myself (esp. since I purchased a great but entirely unnecessary party skirt from an unnamed Other Retailer). But I will find a little something and make a purchase just to show my appreciation. (And thanks, Silver Lining.)

    ReplyDelete
  17. I believe this is the first card holder perk I've ever received. Although I'm pretty shopped out, I am really considering the Bronson bootie. The discount is great!

    ReplyDelete
  18. I was a little down on JCrew earlier this morning because today's my birthday, and I had received birthday promo/discounts from pretty much every other retailer -- Gap, Anthro, Famous Footwear, etc. Heck, I even got a Happy Birthday email from my daughter's orthodonist.

I guess this makes up for it!

    ReplyDelete
  19. I know it's highly unlikely but if anyone is not planning on using their code, I would so appreciate it! Thanks very much!

  20. Lia - They might have the promo coded to only accept the J Crew credit card as tender, but you never know...

Yay for cardholders! It's about time.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Got the email and yes, holding onto the code until December 19! Excited to see what deals I can score!

Happy holidays to all J. Crew cardholders! Finally!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Gigi - I was thinking the same thing, but thought I'd give it a try anyway! :)

    ReplyDelete
  23. I think I might be really lame and use the code to buy some Jackie cardis. It comes to $32.55 each with the sweater promo. I can't find much else to buy, anyway. What is everyone else getting with theirs? It's cool that we can stack it with the sweater promo.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Wow! What a great offer -- no minimum & free shipping too! Now that's more like it, Crew! Thank you! I'm ready to order, but unfortunately, the new arrivals are pretty "meh". I'm cardigan'd out and there aren't any new fresh looks that excite me. I'm hoping a trip to the B&M later will spark some interest but for now I find nothing inspiring -- at any retailer, for that matter.

  25. I didn't wait- I've been eyeing the cashmere shawl popover for a long time, and 25%+30% and free shipping and a giftcard made it a good deal for me.

    ReplyDelete
  26. best deal in a while. it's about time. mickey is showing the love.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Is this for all cardholders or only "special" ones? I haven't received an email yet but have a couple of things I'd like to purchase...

Quick question: do you ladies find that J Crew flats run true to size or should I size up/down from normal? Also, does anyone know if the Cashmere shawl popover runs true to size?

    ReplyDelete
  28. You like me! You really like me!

I've been eyeballing a coat for a while, looks like I'm getting an early Xmas gift!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I think its a "special" card holder deal. No code in my inbox today. And I have spent quite a bit this month. I'm a bit irritated. Grrr!!!
Glad others were able to get this perk! Enjoy. J. Crew, I won't be buying the rest of the items in my cart today.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I'm indulging in the cashmere cowl neck, heather grey. MOLLY DARLING I'm wearing the cashmere popover, adore it! For the rest, I'm putting together my Xmas shopping for relatives, especially the guys + nieces--now I can give lovelier things than I imagined.

*insert snowflakes softly falling on evergreen tree*

    ReplyDelete
  31. Alexia, my size ranges depending on the style of the flat. I'm typically a 7.5 in all other brands (steve madden, tory burch)but for J. Crew I'm a 7 in the cotton lined flats (the regular classic ballet ones for instance) and the cece leather ballet flats. However, I'm a 7.5 in the leather lined ones, like the jeweled bow ballet flats. Hope this helps!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Lia,

You have to use your JCrew credit card to make the purchase with the code. So it is only for cardholders and a one time use.

I have been waiting so long for a perk. Years.

    ReplyDelete
  33. This was a very happy surprise in my inbox this morning! Glad to see this kind of cardholder perk :)

    ReplyDelete
  34. Trish,

I am holding onto my code too to see what deals I can get closer to Dec. 19th. I know the sweaters will likely go down more as well as a few other items. Patience. Otherwise, I know I will regret jumping on it right away and say, "If only I had waited!" (been there too many times before)

    ReplyDelete
  35. Did anyone receive two emails with two codes? I seem to be on the mailing list twice, and I wonder if I can use both. I haven't made a purchase since August. This opportunity might spur me to buy some jcrew xmas gifts now and later.

    ReplyDelete
  36. It's about time JC got in the game as with other retailers providing "unique" codes especially for card holders.
I'm going to check out the sweater section to see if there's anything I want now or hold out for a better sale.
Has anyone received any news from JC regarding "mulesed wool?" Whether to confirm it or deny it?

    ReplyDelete
  37. Alexia- I typically wear a 7.5 everywhere but have to size up to 8 in jc flats!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Thanks trippy for the feedback!

I just called customer service, and *every* cardholder should be getting this code. If you haven't received an email, and you want to order something before the sweater promo expires today, give them a call. :)

I am going to try and wait till the 19th to see if there are any other deals I can combine this with. :)

    ReplyDelete
  39. Alexia, if J.Crew made 10.5, I'd be sizing up to it all the time. I am a 10 everywhere but sometimes I can even wear an 11 at J.Crew. Or I get a 10 and suffer :)
With the flats that have the elastic at the back or near the front, DEFINITELY size up because they hug your foot. I am able to size up a whole size in these but I'd recommend half a size if you don't wear a 10 like me. For the more classic styles like the Marjorie and the classic patterned ballet flat, you might not need to size up because they only have a twill lining and are softer and more flexible. I hope that helps!!!

    ReplyDelete
  40. What fantastic news for all of you! Congrats! :)

    ReplyDelete
  41. Thank you Alexia! I have emailed customer service at J.crew. If I don't hear back, I am going to call later today.

    ReplyDelete
  42. GREAT SALE! I picked up 2 sweaters with the extra 30% combined with the promo - super deal on the infiniti and chalet cowl neck (i think this is the name)... also did some serious damage in the knits section. thx for honoring your cardmembers JCREW!!

    ReplyDelete
  43. I don't even have a JC card and 'm excited for those of you who do! SERIOUSLY, way overdue for cardholders. Have fun everyone! And while you're at it, drop dear leader an email saying how much you appreciate the appreciation. A little positive reinforcement may just work in your favor. :)

    ReplyDelete
  44. OT, can anyone comment on sizing for Elette cashmere cardi? I normally wear a 2 in perfect shirts and wondered whether I should get the XS or S in this. Also, how is the cashmere holding up in this one?

Also considering the merino ruffle strata cardi -- how does it fit IRL? I'm wondering if it's similar to last year's Maya in fit & drape

    TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  45. So new arrivals. Hmm. The Streamer T-Strap heels are adorable but the heel is too high! Seriously? I would roll my ankle in those but if they had been three inches, I would have ordered them. The cashmere boatneck has possibilities but why is it so long? If you wear a sweater that long, it obliterates your waist and makes you look like a big round lump. Maybe they should do a crop version that actually stops at the waist. Then I can wear a cute button down under it and feel dressy. With lower suede T-strap heels!

xoxo the Netaporter site is definitely not a TJ Maxx, it's quite the opposite, a site selling $10K clutches to women who can afford $10K clutches. They will ship anywhere, Dubai, you name it so it helps J. Crew ship internationally although I think J. Crew likes the association with NAP since they love any upscale association. I wonder how NAP feels since a lot of the stuff they took on from J. Crew has been on promo numerous times.

FFM, thank you for the waist trimming solution, I am so used to taking pants to the cleaners for hems and taking in at the waist. Some have been better at the waist, like the wool flannel 1035s. Still needed hemming as always!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Can anyone compare the wool crepe pencil skirts vs wool gabardine pencil skirts vs stretch wool pencil skirts? Do they fit the same? Are there any differences other than slightly different fabric weaves?

    ReplyDelete
  47. Lovely code- I can't seem to find anything I need. Part of me can't do trendy anymore...I'm in search of preppy schoolgirl: argyles, knee high socks, wool skirts that hit the knee, library cardigan, fashionable scarves...I want to look like a little lady, not a runway model trotting down the street Milan.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Yay for 30% off. Has anyone purchased Quoddy's shearling-lined ring boots. I have placed them in my shopping cart on 4 separate occasions but kept backing out. Looking for an outstanding review that will push in the right direction. :)
    Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Much to my irritation, J. Crew customer service confirmed that not all card members will get this promotion. Enjoy it, if you were lucky enough to be selected! Lately, I seem to not be selected for any of the promos.

    ReplyDelete
  50. JCREWGAL,

That's utter bs on JCrew's part. It does say "subject to credit approval"...did you call and verify that you're in the green to use the card? I'd check, double check and then ask for a supervisor...

    ReplyDelete
  51. Jeanne-

I can compare the Wool Garbidine and Stretch wool pencil. The wool garbidine does not have a ton of give to it, but it fits nicely, hugs curves like a pencil should. I have larger hips/thighs for my size and it fits beautifully. It is fully lined which is nice.

The stretch wool I am less a fan of. I kept it because it makes the suit 2 suits. It doesnt have a real waste, it just kind of folds over at the top. It is a bit baggier in the stomach/crotch area, and in the front thighs, it also fits higher than the wool garbidine, more on the belly than the hips. It also has the double slit back, which creates a flap, and the wool garbidine has one center split, which I prefer.

I have a 8p in the wool garbidine and a 4p in the wool stretch.

    HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Thank you, Erin. That was very helpful.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Oops! Waist... not waste :)

I should also say I am generally a 4-6 in Jcrew bottoms.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Way to go Hexicon! Very glad for the cardholders. I canceled as there were never any meaningful benefits, but very happy for you guys!

    ReplyDelete
  55. So, does anyone think the High heel Oxfords will go on sale before the promo ends? I got the 30% off promo, but don't want to squander it. Maybe I should also wait til closer to 12/19. Hm, decisions decisions. I think I'm pretty good on clothes for the most part, so it's really just the shoes I'm interested in at the moment.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Has anyone seen the Squall coat or the Harriet tweed blazer in real life? I want to use this promo to get some real money off the more expensive items, but haven't been able to try on either of these in the NY stores...

    ReplyDelete
  57. I am surprised and thankful for this offer! :) I will wait to see if any of the items I'm watching get marked down. As for the new arrivals, nothing caught my eye.

Alexia, I think some of the shoe sizes depend on your foot. I am a 6.5 everywhere but at JC where I size up to a 7, but I have a wide foot (not wide enough to buy a shoe in a wide size, but wide enough that I can't wear JC flats in my regular size).

    ReplyDelete
  58. Lame - even though I've been a cardholder for a few years now, no email for me. I sent J.Crew an email asking them about this, and got this for a response:

While there is no specific criterion for this promotion we are always looking for new ways to thank our loyal customers- thank you for reaching out. We appreciate hearing from you and will make sure to pass
this along to our team here. If you have any further questions please feel free to contact us.

So - looks like this is only going to SOME cardholders.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Alexandra-

That was the exact same wording I received back orginally. However, not sure if it was because I was pushy, but someone from J. Crew did call me back eventually and gave me the 30%. She claimed it was a glitch or an oversight that I did not receive the promo. I would try emailing again, and someone will call you back if you include your information. Good luck!

    ReplyDelete
  60. Maybe this is harsh to say but the catalog, on page 6, is her head photoshopped on someone's body? Her head is completely disproportionate, maybe it's just a weird angle.

Jruby I think the Oxfords may go on sale later but by the time they do, it may be closer to spring. I'm like you, I have plenty of clothes, it was the shoes that I've been buying but only on promo. There's no way I'm spending close to $300 on shoes when right now, you can spend that for designer on sale. Saks, Neiman, Nordstrom, NAP are all having their designer sales on shoes. J. Crew should just have a big shoe promo.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Can anyone tell me how the sizing is on the cashmere tee's this season? Are they the same as the crewneck cardigan? If you wore them with a button down under it, would it be too tight, would you size up? I keep thinking about the heather tide crewneck tee with a white shirt under it.

    ReplyDelete
  62. @Elizabeth, I've been eyeballing the cashmere too. I would say get the same size in the tee as in the cardigan if you're planning to wear a shirt underneath. Something to keep in mind: I check with JC's CS to get the overall length of various cashmere pieces, using the crewneck cardi as a reference, and the tee is (I kid you not) 3" longer than the cardi. So if you're planning to wear it with the cardi as a twinset, you'll have to tuck it in your pants!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Elizabeth, I know it is near impossible to get someone's tone from a post, but I was being sarcastic about the NAP/TJM comparison. Ema posted the other day that the Langfords were on major sale at NAP while still FP at J.Crew. They sold out quickly at the discounted price. It was in reference to that discount that I made the comment but I realize that it probably only made sense to me. Even then, pretty weak comment.

    ReplyDelete
  64. ^ In case it's not clear, I mean that *my* comment was pretty weak.

Sometimes I am in my own little world. But it's OK, they know me here.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Wow, I cannot believe that this is only going to SOME cardholders. How many more people do they want to alienate here!?

Julie, I got two e-mails as well. Weird. I am just planning on the second code not working but maybe it will be a pleasant surprise.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Closet Crisis you read my mind! The length was the thing and if the cashmere tee is three inches longer than the cardigan, I don't even want it. For the long-waisted ladies, I'm sure that is great but for me, it's not good at all. the Jackie cardigan and the cashmere crewneck cardigans are good lengths but I'm still stunned how long the cashmere turtleneck is.

So the Winslow booties arrived. They are going back. You have to undo the leather laces in order to get your foot in and those laces will break. I can tell already. And if the laces break, there is no point, the shoe is ruined. IMHO they are awkward too.

The dock stripe perfect shirt will be going back as well. Too thin!

The Bandelier boots are, however, great!!! Cute and comfortable, TTS, the bronzed beige is beautiful, yay!

xoxo, oh! I honestly didn't know, I'm sorry! I was the one that mentioned that NAP had the Oxfords on sale; I trust NAP's picks but I do wonder what they think, if they've gotten JC returns, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Ooooh,a shoe promo! Brilliant! That would be so nice. I hope JC picks up on that little idea.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Elizabeth, oh geez, I'm sorry. I can't even get it straight who was posting the NAP info on the Langfords. Typing fingers in overdrive, brain in neutral.
    :P

Desert Flower, what a wonderful thing to say. The feeling is mutual.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Maybe it's because I live in Canada, but I have to ask - what's the significance of December 19? (In Canada, the big sales traditionally start on Boxing Day, Dec. 26.)

    ReplyDelete
  70. Louise, December 19 is when the cardholder 30% off code expires.

    ReplyDelete
  71. I couldn't believe it when I received the email. I, too, this is the first perk as a cardholder. It great and makes my business feel appreciated. Truth be told, I had to re-read the email several times to make sure there was no minimum, etc. :)
I DEFINATELY plan on using it to pick up some fun little stocking stuffer pieces and *maybe* a treat for myself ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  72. xoxo no worries :)!

I notice they are ending their shipping promo on the 20th, the credit card promo on the 19th, so they must figure if you are ordering for Christmas on the 21st, they will charge big.

    ReplyDelete
  73. I bit. I got the cashmere henley in heather acorn, the luminosa puffer vest in mossy oak, the lisette shell in olive moss and the henley layering cami in black.

I almost got the cashmere cowl neck, but the acorn was sold out until January in my size...oh maybe I should have gotten it in black...

    ReplyDelete
  74. Girlification-

If you call within an hour of your order they can add things too it... and if its too late and you get the right SA she might give you the discount and free shipping because you had it before :)

    ReplyDelete
  75. I have a gift or two I'd like to buy and of course a few things for myself, so will probably wait a day or two for use the code....it came in this morning and I was pretty excited! Might do the sweater promo now to make sure I get the ones I want and then iuse the code later on! i still want the lace tee in black so I might wait around and see if one pops up in XS!

    ReplyDelete
  76. @ Connor, In the Elette, I took a Medium and I'm a consistent Medium in the cashmere sweaters and generally a 6 in the dress shirts. The body fits me slightly large but the arms are a little tighter and confirmed that I needed the Medium. So based on that, I'd say its pretty true to size.

@ Elizabeth, I agree to check with cs because my cashmere T is a bit longer this year versus last years (the fit also feels a bit larger but not enough for me to fit into a smaller size).

    ReplyDelete
  77. I didn't get the e-mail, but I contacted customer service, and they said I could place an order over the phone and they would apply the promotion to it. So if you didn't get the e-mail, there's still hope! :)

    ReplyDelete
  78. Thanks Caroline re: Elette sizing tip!

    ReplyDelete
  79. I did not get it, and I have bought some pretty pricey items lately from JCrew (like the cashmere two-face cocoon jacket at $1,200 a pop x 2). But I did get up to 40% off coupons from other retailers, so my money has gone somewhere else. Your loss JCrew, my gain. Congrats to all of you who got it, and happy shopping :)

To Claire.Rebeca, yes, I purchased the Quoddy shearling mocs, not the boots, and I can confirm that they are very well made, I love them. I have not worn them all day yet, as it is one of Santa's gifts to me, but I'm looking forward to wearing them on Dec 25. I also came accross a pair of Ralph Lauren booties which looked very similar to the Quoddy mocs, for a lot more. Hope this helps.

  81. I was at a conference yesterday and was pleasantly surprised to see this in my in-box when I got home last night! Finally a card-holder perk . . and a good one to boot!!!

I had sworn off all shopping for the rest of the month as I have Xmas gifts to buy, but I'm sure I'll bite on something. :)

    ReplyDelete
  82. Molly Darling- I also can't tell the difference between the heather acorn and heather saddle. I have the cashmere shawl popover in one of those colors and it's my favorite sweater. I had to get it in the plum color too. It's so comfortable and cute I want it in every color!

    ReplyDelete
  83. Jules, maybe a bit late, but I just received the cashmere cowlneck in heather tide last night. I'm on the fence about it. I do agree with other posters that the cashmere seems of a better quality this year, so the feel of the sweater is great.

The fit is definitely more relaxed, as pictured, but almost to the extent that I think I would want to belt it unless I'm wearing my skinniest pants (might be harder to pair with heavier winter fabrics?). I got an XS, which is the size I have in this year's cashmere crewneck which is very snug. I don't know if I can justify it, even at the 25% markdown I paid.

Pros: LOVE the heather tide color, soft & cozy feel of the fabric, comfortable fit. Cons: unsure about the look of the fit on me, not sure if it will be versatile enough for me to justify the price...might consider buying it in the grey since that's just been marked down. Anyway, SUPER long response but hope that helps!
