The email once again announces the Fenton/Fallen for J.Crew collaboration. They also share the following:
Jewerly designer Dana Lorenz, visionary behind the rebel-chic statement jewelry lines Fenton and Fallon created a covetable collection just for us (you won't find it anywhere else). Also, "thanks!" to Raina who shared the following article from Style.com (click here for the original article):
Dana Lorenz Is New To The CrewThis is the type of collection where customers fall into one of two camps: "loves it!" or "hates it!". Frankly, I fall into the latter. To each their own! :)

When you need a favor, it helps to have friends in high places. Or, in the case of Jenna Lyons, to be a friend in a high place. Several months ago, Lyons, the creative director of J.Crew, was trying (and failing) to track down a few pieces of Fenton/Fallon jewelry, a problem with no real solution until she ran into Fenton/Fallon designer Dana Lorenz (pictured, with Lyons) at a dinner. “It was a party hosted by Maria Cornejo,” Lorenz recalled last night the Soho J.Crew store. “I remember, I was wearing a chambray shirt with paint all over it, because I hadn’t expected to be able to make it. Anyway,” Lorenz continued, “Jenna told me that she was looking for these pieces, and they were all sold out. I offered to make them up for her, as a favor.” Lyons decided that the real favor Lorenz could do for her was to join the J.Crew fold for a season.
The Fenton/Fallon for J. Crew collection is on the sales floor now; Lorenz describes the range as a “mash-up” of her two brands. “It’s a little less statement-y than Fenton, a little more statement-y than Fallon,” Lorenz said, “and I’m kind of loving the contrast with the preppy little blazers and things.” Prices start at $95 for the Carrington chain bracelet, below.
What are your thoughts on the collection? Have you seen any in-person at your local brick & mortar stores? If so, please share! :)
They had a private Fenton/Fallon event at the Soho store last night. I had stopped by after work to make a few returns and pick up a couple of the featherweight cotton cardis, and the door was closed with a sign on the front announcing the private event, and that the store was closed early. I was crushed, but the gentleman at the door was kind enough to let me in, even though the staff was getting ready for the event. I was able to make my returns/purchases, and look at the F/F jewelry, which I am personally not a fan of. There was a DJ, glasses full of champagne, and the store was in pristine condition. I think I spied gift bags, but I am not 100% sure.
ReplyDeleteI saw the Carrington side drape necklace at the store and it was gorgeous. It's huge! I feel like it weighed at least five pounds too. I would buy it if it weren't $275....just seems like too much for such a statement piece that you can't really get away with seven days a week. But if they ever go on sale I'll grab them...they were knock-outs!
ReplyDeleteHowever, take my opinon with a grain of salt. I went in the store looking to buy the luxe sweatpants :-)
I'm with you Alexis. I hate this line. I'm sorry but whenever I look at these pieces online, I cringe. Not my personal style.
ReplyDeleteI think its edge-y and fun. I would buy the bracelet in a minute if it didn't have the rhinestones... but then I like the camo cargo pants....
ReplyDeleteI am intrigued by the tassel necklace, it is the "simplest" design of the bunch. I would buy it if I had lots of disposable income or if it ever went on sale.
ReplyDeleteI do appreciate stepping outside the box, but most of these designs are a bit too much for my personal style.
I can see these being very alluring to very "fashion forward" types, which I assume Jenna is. :)
I'm a major fan of these and would buy the Carrington $175 Crystal Chains necklace if I had the money. At the same time, this line seems tres expensive for (junky) metal chains. We're not talking diamonds or sterling silver here...
ReplyDeleteNot a fan of this line with or without free shipping. Pretty sure even 75% off would not get me to purchase this awful line!
ReplyDeleteDefinite pass for me even if on sale for super cheap. Just not my style. I am into danty and pretty jewelry--very girly:) This just doesn't appeal to me....
ReplyDeleteI'm with you, Alexis. Don't think I would want anything from this line even if it were offered to me for free! And I'm also not a fan of the image being on the jcrew.com homepage right now...it's just not appealing to me when I visit--too dark and gritty!
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't do anything for me. The prices don't help either. These are clearly for the people who waltz into a Collection store, buy full-price off the rack and don't think twice about it. That ain't me! PASS! :-)
ReplyDeleteNot a fan of the line at all.
ReplyDeleteWell, I will tell you that at first glance, I wasn't sure about these pieces as well. But something about them intrigued me at the same time. I bought the Carrington Collar necklace, just to see it IRL (none at my b&M). It doesn't go with every outfit, like pearl clusters can, but I really like it with casual outfits. I couldn't decide between the Collar or the Tassel, but I just received the tassel, and I really love it as well. As for the pieces with many more chains, I'm not a fan of those. Too heavy. These F/F pieces are supposedly "partner items" which don't (usually) go on sale. It will be interesting to see what happens, as I have a feeling they're not flying off the shelves.
ReplyDeleteI'll try to get some IRL photos up on my blog this weekend, for anyone curious about them.
i love fenton/fallon and some of their jewelry from previous years. I was hoping for more from this collaboration, since i love J.Crew and everything they're doing over there. (When I worked at Madewell and met some of the marketing team, I really got to understand the company and grew to like J.Crew more and more than I already had!!) The tassel necklace is cute, but i probably would only purchase one if it were on sale...
ReplyDeleteI think there are pictures from the party on Guest of a Guest!

I love the Carrington side-drape necklace but $275 is too much for me.
ReplyDeleteI like the tassel necklace as it is styled in the catalog. Of course, I may hate it IRL. I will be looking for this one this weekend. Not that I would buy unless it went on sale. Too much money for me for costume jewelry.
ReplyDeletePlease let me know what you have to do for a living to be able to plop $275 on a necklace - an UGLY necklace, at that.
ReplyDelete'Cause I'd like to change careers then just to say I could plop $275 on something like that.
Spikes on jewelry? Might as well make a choker and get some tattoos to go with it. I mean, doesnt everyone that shops at jcrew ride a harley and sports a mohawk? (Gotta go, my man's taking me to a dive bar for our anniversary).
ReplyDeleteIf anybody is looking for the Jaipur skirt, the Mayfair store in Wauwatosa, WI had 2 on the front table tonight. Sizes were 6 and 10. Their number is (414) 302-0800.
ReplyDeleteHope that helps somebody! Going to post in looking to find this week, too.
Pass on this collab.
ReplyDeleteThe FF stuff isn't really my taste, and it certainly isn't in my budget! I like the idea of JC clothes being the base for your look, and have the accessories push it in the direction you want to go, so I can see the FF being fun for those into the studdy, mall-core thang. But wasn't Jenna just quoted in the last post about JC NOT doing the "rock chic" look with the exception of a pair of boots? The components of the items in the JC/FF collaboration seem almost shorthand for "rock", with the spikes, chains, and all, so it's a bit disingenuous. But as Maggie said, take my opinion too, with a grain of salt. I get hive-y when I think of wearing silver and gold toned jewelry at the same time!
ReplyDeleteUnbelievably awful. I wouldn't want this mess even if they were giving it away.
ReplyDeleteI'm petite and small boned - total pass, these are way too grunge and bulky for my frame.
ReplyDeleteI had my doubts about this collection, too. But I also found myself coming back to it when I looked at the JC site and catalogs. I finally ordered the Carrington Chains and Needles necklace during the recent 20% off promotion with the full intention of returning it to my local B&M if it didn't work for me. Even when I took it out of its box (subpar JC packaging, especially for a featured collection like this) I had my doubts. And it was sooooo heavy, I didn't know if I'd want to wear it all day. Despite my doubts, I wore it yesterday and got mad comps all day long! I paired it with a white denim jacket, black JC jewel neck tee, and a black pencil skirt. And after I had it on for an hour or so, the weight didn't bother me. I think I my head might have been swimming from all the comps! Can't wait to wear it again!
ReplyDeleteThese pieces probably don't fit with my personal style, but I do like them most of them on some level. I'm not edgy enough to pull them off, except maaaaybe with a simple tee on a night out...and even then I'm not so sure I could. I don't know...there's something kinda nifty about them.
ReplyDelete[My use of the word 'nifty' to describe them pretty much explains why I couldn't pull them off! LOL]
I'm diggin' this collaboration and having a hard time figuring out which piece to get. I've ordered the Carrington Tassel. Very cool looking and probably the most versatile piece. But it's really long. The tassel starts much lower on me than I would have thought based on the photograph and the tassel stopped at my belt. Couple of inches shorter and I might have been sold. Too bad the chain is not adjustable.
ReplyDeleteAlso ordered the Carrington crystal chains necklace. The colors of the crystals soften and warm up the look some. It has an adjustable clasp, though there isn't a lot of room for adjusting this one.
I'm going to try a few others before I decide.
