J.Crew announced the shipping deadlines to receive gifts for Valentine's Day on its main page (click here). As stated in the image above, "order by 9PM EST, Thursday, February 5th to guarantee standard delivery for Valentine's Day".
This got me thinking, "what would I want for Valentine's Day?" I would love for my "lobster" (Phoebe's theory from an episode of Friends; click here to view the reference) to get me a gift that consisted of J.Crew- that would be wonderful! I think my "dream Valentine's Day gift" this year would be J.Crew's Large Tumbled-Leather Odile bag (Item 13386, $350.00, now $149.99). I have been crushing on the bag (in the Coral Reef version) ever since I saw Chloe {how g-o-r-g-e-o-u-s is she!?!} showcase it in a post over at her {great} blog (click here).
What would your dream Valentine's Day gift from J.Crew be? What are the reasons behind your selection(s)?
I would love flowers. Does J.Crew do flowers? :)
ReplyDeleteThere is some great stuff in the look book that I just checked out on their site...
ReplyDeleteI think I'll go with the Magdalene python strappy flats, though.
Mostly because I would never buy them for myself at 300bucks.
Kind of weird to have my imaginary boyfriend by me shoes...wait! OMG, this: Signature signet ring
$295.00 item 16349 (or the gold hoops).
I second Anon @ 1227am. I love flowers.
ReplyDeleteI would love the small leather gallery hobo. I am hoping someone posts pictures or writes a review of it!
ReplyDeleteIn real life, I get dinner with the hubby. Although I love flowers, I refuse to get them for Valentines. They mark the price up 300% here just because of the holiday. I usually get them a week early/late. :o)

Ooh this is fabulous! Cool Valentines Day Gifts
ReplyDeleteI am getting jewelry. (Not costume from JCrew) The real thing! I always pick out two or three necklace and earring sets from the jewelry store and let my hubby surprise me with one.
ReplyDeleteFYI, it's reference, with one f, not "refference."
ReplyDeleteWe always spend a few days at a ski lodge in February. My husband selects the location and sets it all up, including a spa day after a couple of days skiing. It's not J.Crew but it is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteIf I were to pick a J.Crew item it would have to be one of the new silk tunics. The problem is, which one??
Hmm, my cart is dumped this morning and all the items were regular price. I thought that only happened with sale items, or when the website was experiencing problems. I can only remember 8 of the 12 items I had in there yesterday. I guess I don't need them if I don't even remember.
ReplyDeleteI was so concerned with my cart I forgot to mention what I want for Valentine's day.
ReplyDeleteBrigitte heels in metallic sienna or metallic atlantic. So cute!
I've started looking for a new job, and I'm hoping to get some interviews soon, so I've been dragging my husband around looking at suits. I would love it if he surprised me with one from J.Crew! Maybe not the most romantic gift ever, but a new suit would certainly show my career was important to him :)
ReplyDeleteMy cart is fine today. It got dumped on Sunday for some reason. But has been fine yesterday and today. I always keep a list though. I NEVER rely on JCRew's crap website anymore. I mean, well, it truly is crap and unpredictable.
ReplyDeleteA Gift Card to go shopping myself. :)
ReplyDeletehmm...anything. I'm loving J. Crew's new arrivals, so much pink and ruffles :)
ReplyDeleteEveryday is Valentines' Day for me......awwwwwww! Seriously though, I never cared much for all the Valentines hype. It's a Hallmark Card invention. I know it has historical roots, but they've been totally blown out of proportion. I won't say no to sharing a bottle of pink champagne and some dark chocolate covered strawberries with my husband, though.
ReplyDeleteIn spite of my best efforts, I just can't excited about anything in this latest J Crew collection. Maybe the next one will be a little more fun and colorful.
I second that, FFM! I am never insulted with a gift card :) My hubby and I don't really do valentine's day though...we have Christmas, his birthday, AND our anniversary all right before, so we just do a nice dinner and call it a day :)
ReplyDeleteMy Lucie d'Orsay high heels that I ordered in an 8.5 in bright berry, not the platinum gold that they sent me...
ReplyDeleteI second the idea of a gift card. Second choice would be a Thompson Leather tote stuffed w/JCrew goodies. :)
ReplyDeleteIf I got a gift card from my hubby I would be insulted. He usually picks out an outfit for me from JCrew or Banana Republic. I know some guys don't like to shop but just ask an associate for help...It shows they care and know enough about you as a person to actually buy something!
ReplyDeleteI would love a pair of the Spectator Belinda heels in Stone. But am positive that my husband would never give me shoes for Valentines Day or any other holiday... so I will be happy with a babysitter and a night alone with my hubby.
ReplyDeleteTwiga
karma necklace in yellow or stone bead ribbon necklace in golden avocado. don't normally like jcrew's jewelry that much, but I like those. I'll settle for a box of chocolates, though... :D
ReplyDeleteLarge sale update just happened.
ReplyDeletehuge update! there's a lot of stuff! i was finally able to snag metallic foil belts in small! :) hopefully they ship to me!!
ReplyDeleteUmmm. Just checked out the update and it is not huge. There are a few things but nothing to go crazy over...just more of the same ol same ol
ReplyDeleteAGHHHH SALE UPDATE! there's a watercolor lydia in xsmall!!!!!!!!!!!!! too bad I'm on a shopping ban :(
ReplyDeleteWebsite updated. I fail miserably at bans.
ReplyDeleteJust ordered the cashmere heirloom henley in spearmint & the elephant wellies, to use free shipping... AHH this must stop!!
I held strong. Not buying ANYTHING for the entire month of Feb. Probably helped that there is nothing left in the sale section even with the little update.
ReplyDeleteBlue Jasmine Zoey is back in stock too.
ReplyDeleteMy dream Valentine's gift from J.Crew would be an invitation to come to Paris with them to shoot a spring catalogue :-). For the trip over, I'd wear pink - the boucle Astrid in bright berry, and I'd explain in great detail to Mickey Drexler how I invigorated the sad little droopy flower that it came with.
ReplyDeleteI just noticed a new link on the women's homepage to play for a honeymoon to Greece and a daily giveaway of a passport cover! I'm going to cross my fingers since I'm getting married in a year! Bonus- free shipping on 175 or more with code WEDDING.
ReplyDeleteGood luck to everyone!
PS- I don't usually comment, but I want to say that this is a wonderful blog and I read it almost everyday. Thanks!
Hmmm...I don't want my husband picking out clothes, esp for Valentine's. Time spent together is what makes me happy.
ReplyDeleteI've spent over $5K w J.Crew outfitting the whole family in the last month (scary in writing haha). Love the sales!
Maybe it's time to get their CC (to pay off every month) so I can get the rewards:)
La Belle Helene: Please share how you invigorated the droopy flower??! Mine sits sadly in a drawer.
ReplyDeleteOT: Sorry I already asked this in another post, but does anyone have fit info or any comments on the Cashmere Swing Sweater with the scoopneck?? I'm curious if it's really loose through the waist. TIA!
Valentine's Day: hmmm, I'd be thrilled with a gift card, too, from my hubby! He hates to shop, I know that, and I love to shop - so gift cards make us both happy!
Kendra,
ReplyDeleteI hope you didn't pay much for the cashmere heirloom henleys. Mine looks like total crap after 2 wearings. For those that say cashmere is supposed to pill, they are full of it. Cashmere may pill over time, but not after a wearing or two. Acrylic pills after a wearing or two as well...why not just by an acrylic sweater for a whole lot less money? You get the same quality. Unless you can pick up JCrew's cashmere for $25 bucks, don't bother...you will be disappointed.
Kendra: I have 2 cashmere heirloom henleys and have worn them multiple times. They look great. I think they were well worth the money.
ReplyDeleteElizabeth, I took the pin out of the backing and repositioned it so it sits at the base of the backing - that way, the weight is redistributed to offset gravity much better. Then I steamed & steamed the petals to my hearts content, put the flower down to rest for a bit face up, then steamed some more. The difference is amazing. I've also rea others on here have sprayed starch on it to make it open up. I think the key is in the backing, though - change how it hangs, and it's a world of difference.
ReplyDeleteI just think it's such a chic little jacket. I got mine for $50 and liked it so much I proceeded to also get the jacket in charcoal. Then I decided I wanted Astrid triplets, and also sprang for the cascading flowers one :-)
^that should say read, not rea.
ReplyDeleteC E S: Thank you so much for letting us know about the sweepstakes. I have gone ahead and created a new post (J.Crew Sweepstakes: Happily Ever Honeymoon) with that great news! :)
ReplyDeleteThere's a watercolor Lydia but it's an Xsmall :(
ReplyDeleteStill looking for one for myself

ReplyDeleteWhat a fun post! I love hearing what other JCAs are doing/ getting for V- Day. Does anyone have a special J Crew outfit planned for the day?
ReplyDeleteI think that the super 120s Jayne dress in tea rose would be on my V-Day wish list from my BF.
I don't think I will be getting it for V-Day since BF just bought me a lady day in sea salt as a "just because" gift.
Probably will keep it low key and make each other brunch since V-Day falls on a Saturday. BF will probably swing by the Costco and pick up the Costco 2 dozen rose special for $18 or whatever it is. Costco would be BF's equivalent to my J Crack addiction.
Hmmm a J Crew item that I'd love to open on Valentine's Day would be... the Editor Tote, the Ingrid fabric Peeptoe in Papaya, or the Alessia pumps in spearmint... that would be great lol
ReplyDeleteIs the super 120's fabric itchy at all? I love the dress, but wool drives me nuts as I am so sensitive to it. So many pretty wool dresses @ J.Crew, though.
ReplyDeleteAny input you JCA's can offer would be greatly appreciated- thank you!
FIt question: Fiona jackets...are the sleeves supposed to be bracelet length? Thanks!

ReplyDeleteDang, I missed the early update. I wonder if the elusive shoes I've been stalking were restocked?
ReplyDeleteAs far as V-day goes, I'm quite content hanging with my girlfriends (probably watching some ridiculous chic flick that's coming out in the next couple weeks), and alas, they won't be buying me gifts, flowers or otherwise.
Hmm, what have I ordered that I'll wrap up and tell DH is from him for Valentine's Day? The Maggie in heather bright berry or the parlor knit dress that are coming today? Or should I do something I've never done before and order the cotton poplin tie front dress at >GASP< FULL PRICE?!?! Actually, if I do decide to pull the trigger on the poplin dress, it will be for me to wear this spring when I officiate at my best friend's wedding. It's a casual outdoor wedding in June, and I've been trying to find something just like this dress for awhile- short sleeves, at or just below the knee, not too boobish (I'm a 38D), in a dark color. I've tried and returned the Corin and Rebecca dresses in black with no luck. Corin was absolutely gorgeous though, fantastic light silk but way too much cleavage. rebecca was just ho hum, soft fabric but not the best cut for me. That's why I decided to go with sleeves and a shift shape. Anyway JCAs, does anyone have the poplin and how do you like it? If I wear some nice metallic sandals, will it be nice enough to officiate at the wedding? Any input would be awesome. Sorry to be totally off on a tangent, I'm just getting nervous since it seems like this dress is going really fast.
ReplyDeleteHubby and I don't really do V-day either...and I second the ban on 300% mark-up wilted flowers. I have always thought the main result of V-day was to make singles feel bad and couples to spend money! Meh, who needs it?
ReplyDeleteHowever, if I DID do V-day I'd be likely to ask sweetie if he'd mind cha-chinging me the bubble necklace in heather graphite OR Cate slingbacks in soft shell.
*swoon* I wish Cate would be my Valentine.
Elizabeth in MO
ReplyDeleteThe cashmere swing sweater is definitely loose through the waist. It really is a swing sweater. I thought it ran a tad big as well. I returned mine. It was cute, but so not worth the price I thought
Anon 3:16: THANKS for the info. I am hoping the swing sweater goes on sale!
ReplyDeleteLa Belle Helene: THANKS for the info on the fix for the droopy flower. I have the boucle Astrid in charcoal and LOVE it but have worn it without the flower. I'm gonna have to perk that baby up! THANKS!
Fiona jacket - I've heard mixed reviews about the sleeves. Mine are longer than bracelet length; however, I am only 5'1 so I have shorter arms. Others have said the arms are shorter.
ReplyDelete~Michelle
DH brings flowers regularly so we dont do the flower thing on Vday. But we do try to go for a nice dinner or even lunch somewhere. This year we are doing dinner at the Terrace in the Sky.
ReplyDeleteI'll be spending the 2 days following Valentine's at Wentworth by the Sea in New Hampshire with my husband and kids...RELAXING...and a side trip to the Kittery Maine outlets 10 minutes away to check out the JCrew outlet of course!
ReplyDeleteNot sure what I am going to ask for/want but I have ordered a new Nike diver for my husband.
ReplyDeleteNo valentine for me, but can anyone comment on the fit of the cashmere heirloom henley? Is it running large or tts? Thank you!
ReplyDeletesooner_girl: My [Sweet Potato] Fiona has long sleeves. IMO they are not cropped or bracelet length and I think my arms are average length.
ReplyDeleteOn another note: I fixed my droopy flower Astrid with spray starch and a hair dryer, thanks to Chloe and her lovely blog.
P.S. Thanks to Alexis & all of the JCAs who share IRL photos on their blogs- it is so helpful.
