Madewell sent another email, this time featuring their Garment-Dyed Zip Crop Jeans ($92), alongside their V-neck T-Shirt Sweater ($49.50), the Skinny Stripe Scarf ($28), and the Fringe Sandal ($125).
They are also reminding us that (1) we can check out their Spring looks (click here); and (2) Madewell is offering 15% off all purchases with the printable coupon found here on their Facebook page. This offer expires 2/28/08.
From the image, I am more excited about the V-neck T-Shirt Sweater (what an great concept... t-shirt + sweater = awesome!) and the Skinny Stripe Scarf, than I am for the Zip Crop Jeans. I don't know why, but the jeans scream "80's" to me, and not in the best way either. ;) But I haven't seen them in person, so what do I know? :) Also, the Fringe Sandal... I like them but I don't. There is something about the double buckle that I think is very pretty, and fashion forward. But the fringe (oh, that darn fringe!) I could totally do without.
What are your thoughts on the Garment-Dyed Zip Crop Jeans, V-neck T-Shirt Sweater, Skinny Stripe Scarf, or Fringe Sandals? Are you a fan of any of the items? Which items do you question the design (& why)?
OMG. I wore these zip fly jeans in like...5th grade, circa 1988...guess they're bringing sexy back. LOL.
ReplyDeleteI have been wondering if anyone has any thoughts on Madewell's cropped trench? I haven't beenable to see it IRL, but I love it from the picture online and have seriosu thoughts about ordering it...any input woudl be great! TIA!
ReplyDeleteSweater: yes. Jeans: no. Fringe: maybe...but definitely not with cropped, zippered jeans.
ReplyDeleteAnon at 4:38 PM: Unfortunately, I have not seen the cropped trench. But it sounds lovely! :)
ReplyDeleteLove the jeans...the color is so fresh and nice! If I had a store nearby I would LOVE to try these on:)
ReplyDeleteTee is just OK. Nothing great there...sweater/tee heard that one before. Nothing new.
I think the rule of thumb is that if you lived through it the first time, you should maybe skip it the second time around.
ReplyDeleteHere I am...
skipping away...
Oh my not these again? lol
ReplyDeleteAnon@518: LOL! Omg, I totally agree! I just can't bring myself to wear something trendy that I also wore b/c it was trendy when I was, I dunno, 8-yrs-old! (See: leggings :) Anyway, I don't think I'll be doing any lavendar-colored zip ankle jeans, but I am LOVING these fringed sandals. Can't wait for summer!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI am with Anon 5:18. My zipper pants were Guess. I guess all fashion comes back around. I do like the sweater T. Will Madewell ever sell on their website?
ReplyDeleteNo zipper pants for me - I didn't like them the 1st time around either. :) I do like the sweater tee, though. Not sure about the fringe sandals. I would have to see these IRL first.
ReplyDeleteGeorgine,
ReplyDeleteYES! I remember when Guess was THE designer to be had. If it didn't have the triangle, it wasn't cool. I actually remember a friend having a pair of guess jeans with vertical stripes of alternating white and blue and they were the "coveted" piece we all wanted.
Oh, the simpler days...
Does anyone know if the Madewell's shipping charges same as Jcrew? Or is it free if you call in and order on phone on full price merchandise? I would definitely be more interested if they had like an online shopping option with actual size guides:(
ReplyDeleteI emailed them today and asked if they had a catalog or an actual online store. They said no but they'll launch an ecommerce store sometime this spring. Which is good for some of us west coasters.
ReplyDeleteso that coupon they keep offering is expired? it's 2009.
ReplyDeleteI saw similar sandals at Marshall's the other day for $20. If you like the shoes and don't have to have the Madewell name, they would be a great alternative.
ReplyDeleteI have also seen similar sandals around, it is a very popular look this year. I believe it was Nine West where I saw them on Friday but I've seen them elsewhere too. They are very trendy and would likely be dated pretty fast. But you could wear these often if you can be casual in the summer.
ReplyDeleteAs for the jeans, I still have my Parasuco zipper leg cropped jeans. Not that I was waiting for a comeback, just not able to throw them (and a bunch of other stuff) out. Seeing them revived here motivates me to get them off to goodwill so someone else can enjoy the trend for cheap. Gawd, I can't believe how I've been hanging on to them for 20 years. Wonder what other "gold dust" I have in the basement. Ack! (*_*)
^ OMG, I just re-read my post. I can't believe I am saying those sandals would be dated and in the next breath saying that I still have 20 year-old jeans. *shakes head*
ReplyDeletePardon me while I go purge my house.
I personally am not going to be doing any shopping at Madewell because a) I hate their website and how they don't showcase the items individually so you can see the detail on them; and b) I want to be able to shop online, not call anyone. It makes me seasick to look at those bizarre images that bounce up and down when you mouse over them. I remember Madewell was supposed to open its online shopping site months and months ago - what happened?
ReplyDeletePS: the zipper jeans and fringe sandals are a pass for me.
I had Guess jeans with the zipper ankle in 1985. I shoplifted them from the store where I worked (along with a bunch of other stuff). I was BAD and I regret it now! But I looked good...
