  1. took an early break this morning from work and saw that the sale section had a few new items, many that have already sold out. saw that the $119 and $99 bubble necklaces (before promo) sold out immediately!! good luck to everyone on the last sale day!

ps- got the carnation necklace and bracelet a while ago...love them both but they snag on EVERYTHING (just in case you are considering them).

  2. I have been wanting the collection silky pants in navy since they came out but they were marked final sale, boo! Called CS and a lovely associate gave me the measurements and said she would make a note so I could return if they didn't work out. All I did was ask nicely. She also applied the 30pct off to my order. Thanks j crew!!

  3. called to see if i could add to an order that i placed yesterday but it was too late. I told the rep that i wasn't going to get it cause i didn't want to pay shipping again & she waived the shipping for my 2nd order. no fuss!

  4. exact thing happened to me poppyfish...I used the online chat and asked if I could add to an order b/c i didn't want to pay a second shipping fee for a same-day order. A great CSR assisted me (ChristyA) and to my surprise, she waived the shipping fee although she had initially stated that she would put a note on my account to refund the shipping once i received the order. i love when the reps go above and beyond!

  5. J.Crew things that I have worn this week that I really love:

Superfine Cotton Suiting= Worth every penny of Full Price.
No.2 Pencil Skirt in Feather Paisley= Their lined cotton pencil skirts are the best (but I don't like the unlined Double-Serge Cotton ones).
Saturday Pants= I really love these pants. They have become my answer to the weekend-morning question: "How can I go pick up milk and eggs at Publix without having to change into real pants?"

    1. I so agree on the Superfine Cotton Suiting. I've love the Byzantine blue skirt, blazer and Marielle dress I added to my collection this year. I love the color so much that I bought the factory versions of the Jackie and Tippi sweaters as well, very pleased to get them in 100% cotton, although the factory cardigan sleeves are no longer full-length.

I'm really loving all the blues lately. J.Crew doesn't always do blues so I'm snapping up the pieces that work before the next blue drought.

    2. You're smart. I've sort of been doing the same thing with modern red/flame/whatever the heck they're calling it this week. My love for J.Crew's colors is eternal...although I do wish that they would get off of the neon train. It seems like they are toning it down for fall, but I've seen some JCA's reporting that a lot of the colors are brighter in-store than jn the catalog. The 2005-2007 color palettes were truly my all-time faves: they were saturated but didn't slap you in the face.

    3. When you find "your" colors it is really special. My favorite from the era you mentioned is majestic purple. I bought skirts, sweaters, perfect shirts, tees and a Lady Day coat. LOL I'm definitely over the neon trend. I limited myself to only two pieces and that was more than enough.

  6. My snake-print skirt and abstract floral skirt arrived yesterday and oh, I'm in love! As I mentioned in another post, the silk/wool fabric is quite lightweight, so for me in the South these can pretty much be year-round skirts.

Can't get over the colors in the abstract floral skirt, they're just so pretty and happy! And the snake print ... I absolutely cannot wait to wear it out and about. I'm sure some people will stare and snicker, but I don't really care. I feel like a million bucks in it. :)

On the downside, yet AGAIN I flopped on my efforts to find the right size in colored toothpick ankle jeans. I'd earlier tried a 29 and omgwtfbbq, while I can just about button them, I could never wear them to work! They fit like jeggings, gak!

So I swung the other way and tried a 32, since no 30 or 31 was in stock, and lordamercy I'm swimming in them. Like to the point that even a belt can't help.

Dang that SA I saw in a store about a month ago wearing the feather paisley Talitha top with papaya-color toothpicks! Grrr! That's what started this mess, me trying to replicate that outfit!

(Soooo...anyone in need of a 29 or 32? *blink blink*)

    1. Elaine, so glad to hear you love the abstract floral pattern!! I loved the skirt but it was a little too fancy for my office. Got the allie dress instead, I think it will work better for me as a going out/wedding guest dress. Also love the snake print, awaiting the arrival of the wool scarf!

Would be curious to know what you plan on wearing with both skirts :)

    2. I love the snake-print skirt, as well! Wore it my first day of lecture this semester, I figured I should start things off with a bang.

  7. Bought the Allie dress yesterday in Modern Red with a Retro Jade Jackie cardi. I'm in love, the colors are smashing. I also purchased the Flower Lattice necklace in multicolor to wear with a plain black WHBM dress. It's over the top, but I love that about it! And to top it off, I asked my VPS to honor the 20% off coupon everyone has been receiving lately (except me) and she did it. Saved a ton of $$!

  8. It's probably too fancy for my office too but I don't care -- it was the one print that jumped out at me from the latest catalog, and it's every bit as pretty in person!

I'm very, very boring when it comes to styling, so I will definitely be checking out Polyvore for ideas. And here of course! :P

While it's still wickedly hot here, I will probably just wear it with perfect fit tanks -- I have 20 or 30 of them in every color of the rainbow, so surely I have something that will will match it, lol. When it gets a little cooler, I will probably pair it with a Tippi or two. I am not too hot at mixing prints, so I tend to go solid on top with a busy print like this.

And of course there is the perennial fallback, goes-with-everything item -- the contrast stitch perfect shirt that looks like chambray but it isn't. I swear there's not a more versatile piece in my wardrobe, save for double-serge pencil skirts!

    1. Elaine, here, here on the Contrast-Stitch Perfect Shirt! That baby goes with EVERYTHING. My cost-per-wear on it must be less than a penny by now.

I think it would look amazing with the Snake Skirt, BTW ...

    2. Oh yes, fo sho it's been paired with every skirt I own, and it will go out with that one too! :) Yet another JC item that I live in fear of ruining with a stain or something, lol. ....

  9. The new stovepipe trousers in stretch wool are, for me, the absolutely perfect work pant. They're not too tight, not too flowy, sit a bit higher on the waist so I don't feel like I have to hitch up my pants after I've been sitting for a while (which I do with the cafe capri, cafe trousers). I like the 32" inseam so I don't need to hem them (I always have to get the 33-34" pants hemmed or I do a botch job myself). And I just love the slimmer leg so I don't feel like I have to manage the fabric around my ankles. These are a winner, IMO, and I'm going to get another pair.

  10. Reps often cannot hear me well on the red phone or my cell phone. I don't know why because my voice isn't nesc soft. Anyway, shouting at 12am was not looking attractive. I was absolutely thrilled to be able to place an order thru the online chat. They don't have the ##### feature that obscures any numerical information on our side of the chat, like Nordstrom's does. But that doesn't bother me.

  11. My Oxford polka dot boy shirt shipped early and I received it yesterday!! Whoo hoo, so glad I didn't have to wait until November!

A minor boo was that there was no 20% coupon, but oh well.

  12. AlyShops: I've received four orders in the past two weeks and have not received a coupon in any of the packages.

    1. Isn't it so annoying! My fourth order of the month should be here tomorrow, but I have a bad feeling there won't be a coupon in that one either.

  13. I am so overwhelmed by the excellence of J.Crew customer service =). I ordered two No. 2 pencil skirts in double-serge cotton - a black and a natural. The natural was back-ordered until Nov 26. The black skirt was delivered y'day, and I realized it was too large for me =(. Anyway, it being a final sale item, I'm going to have to live with it.

So this morning, I wrote JC customer service to request a cancellation of the back-ordered skirt. Turns out, the item shipped shortly after I wrote them. However, JC replied to my cancellation request saying that since it had already shipped, they marked the skirt so it wouldn't be 'Final Sale' AND they included a FREE shipping return label OR I could return it in store too.

How wonderful are they?!! I love JC!

  14. I love the customer service at J. Crew. I think that the service is amazing. I really appreciate the VPS who just gave me a no hassle price adjustment on an item I received last week!!!

Just waiting impatiently for my Silk Bow Tie Garden Floral Cami--peeps on POLYVORE styled some AMAZING and INSPIRATIONAL OUTFITS pulling out the different colors in this one--I haven't been this excited awaiting an item as this one in awhile!!! 16. I gotta say that pp. 74-87 in the September catalog bring some strong feelings of nostalgia for the old, ever-lovable J.Crew of yore! Simple, wearable, classic, timeless, more towards the rustic side, photographed outdoors... sigh.

Plus, I just love that model. She looks so much more natural and real, and not so much "deer in the headlights" as the others.

  17. i never get to visit j.crew stores since i don't have any local ones (montreal is waiting!!) but i went to the prince st. one in new york soho this week-end and i had excellent customer service there. aside from helping me with the things me and my friends were trying on, the SA also gave me a jewelry bag to put the michael kors bracelet i was wearing got loose. i thought that was really nice of him.
