It's that time again, to take a look at an image of J.Crew pieces from seasons past! As caribbelle (in this post) so beautifully termed, "ye olde j crew of yore".
This post features a dress from J.Crew's Holiday 2006 collection. I do not know anything about it (name or item number or cost). But what I do know is that I want it! Besides the classic shape, it features a darling peter pan collar (which is all over J.Crew's current Fall 2012 offerings). Check out the length of the skirt too... it hits the knees! I am in love!!!
What are your thoughts on the look(s)/item(s) from the past? Do you find the look(s)/item(s) classic or do you think they are dated?
That dress is so perfectly lovely. It makes me wonder why I keep futilely trying on too short, too high waisted frocks...
ReplyDeleteoh...love! I think I need to try and recreate this with the crosstown wool flannel skirt...
ReplyDeleteThat is *super* cute.
ReplyDeleteIt's a bit too Amish for me.
ReplyDeleteIMO, Holiday 2006 was so classy. Also love the Mod-dot retro silk dress, the Justine dress, and a winter white wool shift with ruffle collar and black velvet trim that I can't find a picture of, but always thought it was adorable.
ReplyDeleteI don't really care for this one, but would absolutely wear the Mod-dot retro silk dress or Justine dress that silver_lining mentioned.
ReplyDeleteLOL @ mmp. Love the shape but it's definitely got a case of the blahs.
ReplyDeleteHow funny is this to see this dress! I literally just received it in the mail yesterday from an impulsive eBay purchase. I didn't know anything about it, but the collar is what caught my attention. It's a ail organza, with a separate silk slip. It hits me in the same place on the knees as the model. Very cute! I will have to do a post on it. ! I would love to get that Mod-dot dress!!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty. Holiday 2006 and Holiday 2007 were the best J.Crew seasons ever! Well, Holiday 2005 was really good, too.
ReplyDeleteThis dress looks like the "grace" silhouette. They made a bridesmaid dress and a suiting dress (which I have) in the same shape, though they were sleeveless. They all had the thin little bow detail. Classic and lovely! shopwithm, how cool that you found this on eBay! Can't wait to see pics!
This is the grace silk faille dress It may lead you to pics of this dress with more info.
DeleteGood call! I actually have this one in black from back then and it's still lovely.
DeleteI wore the light blue Grace to my rehearsal dinner when I got married. It's a beautiful dress.
DeleteLovely, if you want to look like a serf.
ReplyDeleteI could not wear this dress but I"m sure it would be lovely on others.
ReplyDeleteI love the Justine dress. I have a knee length one in black that works for most occasions year after year.
ReplyDeletei love the shape of the dress, but would prefer a different color-- deep yellow, charcoal, or maybe royal blue. the black and white is a little too waitstaff or (as mentioned above) amish for me.
