JCA is Not Affiliated with Any Research

Good evening JCAs! Once again, I am receiving some emails/ comments about how some of you are getting emails from one particular researcher.

A few weeks ago, this same Ph. D.Candidate reached out to me asking me to post a message on the JCA blog on her behalf to recruit participants for an online survey for her dissertation. I politely declined- indicating that I get similar requests often (and my policy is the same for all inquiries which is to decline them). Unfortunately, I find that when I let one person solicit info from JCAs I get flooded with similar requests from other PhD Candidates, as well as market research groups. I just do not have the time to verify each project to make sure its legit (and make sure the JCA community will not be exploited, etc.)

The candidate never replied back and I never thought anything more of it. However, she has recently sent out emails to several of you with the opening of "Dear *J.CREW AFICIONADA* member, As a member of J.CREW AFICIONADA you are invited to participate in an online research survey to study..."

Considering I declined the JCA blog's participation with her research project, using the "J.Crew Aficionada" phrase as part of her solicitation (and appearance of an endorsement for her study) to the JCA community is somewhat baffling. Therefore, I feel the need to address this situation just to make sure there is no confusion on where the blog stands with this.

Why the post? First, I did not endorse the research nor have any idea how the information collected will be utilized. Proceed with caution if you decide to participate.

Second,  I hate to think any JCA thought I gave their email address away. So if you got sent this email, please know I did not provide anyone your name or contact info.

Third, although I am sympathetic with researchers, I think the use of the "J.Crew Aficionada" phrase in the email is misleading. (No where does it mention that it is not affiliated or endorsed by this blog. Even though she did mention that she is not associated with the J.Crew brand.)

Lastly, as mentioned in the "JCA is Not Affiliated with Any Other Site" post: I do not post about or endorse any third party websites, research groups, or marketing firms, on the JCA Blog that helps them by using the JCAs as a free marketing tool.

I hope everyone can understand my position about this. And for the individuals trying to pursue this community, please respect that I do not care for the J.Crew Aficionada blog to be used (even indirectly by using the JCA/J.Crew Aficionada term) for your personal endeavors.

J.Crew Updates Website with New Arrivals!

"Thanks!" to many of you, including BeachyDuck & YoungJJ (in this post), Rose (in this post), as well as Douglas & Debby (in this post), who let us know that J.Crew had an update to its website (click here to view online). There are over 200 new arrivals on the website!

There are some new arrivals for men (click here) & women (click here). {wahoo!} It looks like Crewcuts (click here) has been updated, but not the J.Crew Collection (click here).

The June catalog (click here to view) is available to view. However, the latest Summer catalog is not up yet.  Although it is already being sent out to customers in the mail (and available in brick & mortar stores)

Major overhaul! As you probably already noticed, J.Crew updated its website design and features. One of the things customers have been asking for has finally arrived... a wish list! (There is a blue arrow in the top image showing its location on the main page too.) The layout of the product page has been updated too. The description is shown in full without the need to click for more. Plus, the drop down menu for sizes and colors are gone. What is available is shown right on the page.

Don't forget! J.Crew is also offering a few different variations of the same promotion right now. These offers expire Monday, June 24, 2013.

25-30% Off at J.Crew {in store only}

"Thanks!" to many of you, including kattertot & Miss JR, (in this post), who shared the following news: 

J.Crew is offering an additional 25% off merchandise at brick and mortar (B&M) stores. It's an additional 30% off if you open a J.Crew credit card (or use your existing card). This in-store promotion will run until Monday June 24, 2013.

I have a feeling this same offer will be offered online, at JCrew.com, starting tomorrow morning. (To coincide with when the new arrivals are expected to be online.)

This extra percent off makes new arrivals look extra enticing! Plus, customers do not have to worry about any purchase being "final sale". (A huge bonus in my book!) Definitely worth a visit if you live near a store or a call beforehand to find out.

J.Crew Summer Sale {nice update!}

J.Crew has a nice update to their Summer Sale (click here to shop online) section online this morning. Lots of merchandise for everyone (1210+ for Women and 345+ for Men). Yey!

It is too bad the additional percent off sale is no longer available online. I am sure more merchandise would be selling out faster with that extra enticement. And while I am at it...

Yesterday was suppose to be the last day for an additional 30% off Sale merchandise in brick & mortar (B&M) stores. Is that still the case? I just know that the sale sections in my local stores are bursting, so it seems like in their best interest to keep that {great} sale going.

Although I am sad to see the promo for the additional 30% off Summer Sale go, I am happy that a new promo is around.

I really like the Linen Tippi Whale Sweater (item 51452; $89.50) now $53.70 online. It is a super light sweater- perfect for Summer time. The sewn-in whales in the bright green look a lot more luxe in person than I was expecting it too. It is a real throw-back to J.Crew's critter collection of yore (which I am loving!) I was able to get this in my normal size of XS (as I feel it is true to size). 

But why am I going on about this sweater... Right now it is $49.99 (before any discount) in J.Crew stores. Plus, there are a few things on that 40% off Vacation Picks list that were already on sale in stores too (like the Button-front dress in linen, Colorblock ponte dress, Lightweight terry tee in stripe, Cluster sequin tee, Multistripe popover, & Perfect shirt in crosshatch linen). So if you live near a B&M (brick & mortar) location, it might be worth checking out in person. (Or at the very least, calling in to see if they have the item and at what price it is ringing up.)

I am also curious about two things... First, I know the fine print states this promotion is exclusive to online only. However, do you think B&M stores will be offering it too? Second, will B&M stores still be offering an additional 30% off their Sale? J.Crew sent out an email this morning announcing the extra 30% off sale is still going on in stores and will be until this Sunday.

Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SPRING sale, or to see some new SUMMER arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Unfortunately, I am not too impressed by what I see so far. Which is disappointing, because the Fall Collections from Madewell (& J.Crew) tend to be my favorite of the year.

The color scheme and styles shown in Madewell's sneak peek all seem a bit "too drab" for me. Hopefully Madewell will have a few more items up their sleeve later this year that are a little more exciting.
