J.Crew Updates Website with New Arrivals!

"Thanks!" to many of you, including Fabulous Florida Mommy (in this post), as well as Irina, who let us know that J.Crew had an update to its website today (click here to view online).

There are some new arrivals for men (click here) & women (click here). {wahoo!} It looks like Crewcuts (click here) has been updated, as did the J.Crew Collection (click here).

I am off to check out the new Fall arrivals now...

Revivial. When I saw the Hacking Jacket in Tipped Double-Serge Wool (Item 50051; $250.00), I immediately thought "they brought back the Lexington Jacket!" My second thought, is that someone from J.Crew who is in merchandising totally reads this blog. Why? Because this item is one of the ones we JCAs always ask for them to remake. I am all for the revivals too. How many of us adored the shades the Wool Oxford Jacket (Item 88574; $285.00) came in (Bright Flame and Liberty Blue). We finally saw them return this season with the Hacking Jacket in Herringbone (Item 48263; $198.00).

And while I am at, the Bubble Necklace (Item 92687; JCA post here, $150.00) is back! Granted it comes in different shades, but it is the same necklace. Smart move J.Crew! Especially since I have seen so many versions of this necklace at other retailers since J.Crew first introduced it.

Loving. This is not just one product, but a whole category: knee-length skirts! I am so excited to see skirts like the Liquid Silk Skirt (item 46333; $148.00). Such a beautiful style with a great length that works anywhere from the office to a dinner party.

Why? The Quoddy® Leopard Calf Hair Ring Boots (Item 49074; $550.00) are questionable. I like the print, and the shape of the boot is fine, but just not together. For whatever reason, it reminds me of something a caveman would wear.

What items are you most excited about and why? Which items are you surprised (or not surprised) to see? Which items did you hope would be included? Were you expecting a bigger roll-out today? Also, did you receive the latest catalog? :)

  1. Hey the bubble necklace is back!
Saw quite a few pretty things. Love that slouchy velvet top.

  2. Check out the "Looks to Love", #5 - is that a RED Lexington 'reissue'? Very pretty. As always, love to hear what the JCA's think (even moreso than the new arrivals)!

  3. Some cute things added, but overall I think I'm safe from purchasing this time. :)

  4. The tipped hacking jacket looks like a Lexington double to me. (And did anyone else notice how much their styling on this model--and her looks, from certain angles--is very Calista Flockhart circa 1999?)

  5. It's always great to see new items but there isn't any one item I want/need. For my casual style, there were more items from the last roll-out to love, which I'm still waiting for to come down in price.

In hopes of JCrew continuing 'getting back to their old selves', I'm going to curtail spending in hopes of 'love' items in the coming year/new year.

  6. Cara - LOL! I like that they brought back Inguna Butane (she looked great in the Fall 2008 catalogs as well) but she's looking thinner. Maybe it's the camera angles.

Interesting that they also brought back the Icon Trench, just with a different collar.

  7. It does look like a Lexington reissue, minus the custom made gorgeous buttons that made it so special. I hate the cheap gold buttons they have on it now. But it's cool that they are making it in Tall sizes.

Bubble necklace... how many people are going to buy it after all the cheap knockoffs that have sold on eBay over the last few years?

It is interesting how many things they have reproduced from last year and years before.

The quoddy leopard boots are crazy! But I think I like them...

    ReplyDelete
  8. Silver_Lining - interesting about the icon trench. I kind of expected that bc they seemed to want to push the last version out in the fs.

I am not tempted by this roll out. Why do the blouses have to be so sheer?

    ReplyDelete
  9. Cara, you are so right! I was trying to figure out who she reminded me of!

I think I might be safe with FFM

  10. Nothing for me in the new rollout. The velvet top is pretty but the colors don't work for me. If it had been available in pink, purple or blue, I would have bought it this morning. I have a number of FP items in my cart that I'm going to ship to my U.S. destination since I'm traveling there very soon. It's been a long time since I placed an order.

    ReplyDelete
  11. OT, but I ordered the pouch-pocket cardigan and love it. Yesterday it was available in every size and every color. Today it is nowhere to be found....hmmm

  12. I saw the black Lexington remake on Monday. I prefer the vent and the buttons on this one. While the enamel buttons were lovely, I didn't like the nautical theme. I am considering the gold as the black picks up lint terribly in this fabric and I already have a grey serge Maggie.

That is the only item I want from this rollout.

Thanks to ShopwithM and Tabitha, I did cave and buy the camel and rose print flair skirts.

  13. I wonder why they changed the collar on the Icon Trench?

    ReplyDelete
  14. I saw the tipped Hacking jacket in store couple weeks ago and the buttons are different that on schoolboy, not hollow and cheap. I actually liked them a lot. I liked the blazer and the construction and fit. I only saw it in black and it did pick up a lot of lint which I hate. I would consider the gray one, the yellow is too country club for me. It is a heavier weight jacket which I always have a problem wearing, as the weather in NJ always seems either too cold or too warm to wear it.

  15. I just bought the Hacking jacket in charcoal at the store last night. I did not have the budget for J Crew jackets when the older version of this jacket was out, but to me it seems quite heavy and substantial. I also like the details such as the contrast fabric on the underside of the collar and the interior pocket. I tried on the houndstooth Moore Blazer (a collection item)--you can definitely feel the difference between it and the houndstooth hacking--it is super heavy and could work as outerwear.

I also bought the Natasha top in poppy. This runs slightly large FYI. It looks great under the hacking jacket as well as the Schoolboy blazer in navy (which I resisted buying!).

  16. Have not bought anything at J.Crew in ages. More and more I find that not much really fits me well.

Talbots on the other hand, has been fabulous. I am excited to use my 40% off one full priced item coupon today. Going to order the double faced wool jacket: petite sizes, awesome colors, great style.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Glad that the buttons aren't cheap on the tipped hacking jacket. I have the gray lexington already... hmm maybe I will consider yellow on super sale. I wasn't too crazy about the nautical theme on the lexington buttons, either. I just tried to ignore it, haha.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Why is the Natasha top sporting raw edge finishes? Grrr.....

    ReplyDelete
  19. Interesting to see all the remakes. I agree that the demand for the re-issued Bubble Necklace may not be there given all the knockoffs.

I have two Lexingtons so the Tipped Hacking isn't for me, but it's nice to see that JC is offering that style again for customers pining for that (very flattering) design.

I kind of like the Leopard Tote, would love to see it IRL.

    ReplyDelete
  20. As someone who has been stalking popbacks for the lady lace popover (on sale, of course), I was bummed to see they have re-stocked it...at full price :( Looks like they are 're-doing' it (with no updates) this season, so now I am on sale watch...

    ReplyDelete
  21. I really like the Natasha blouse in the dark grape color. That might be something I'd get and I really like the Leopard tote. That's calling my name. And the Miller Motorcycle boots. I have the version from 2007 or 2008 that I have worn to death and had fixed up and cleaned up multiple times. It might be time to cave in and buy a new pair. The cost is more than justified for those, but I'll hold out for a 20% off before I jump in. I have had a sad realization lately, that I'm buying too many fantasy life clothes. I'm a sahm and don't need skirts and blazers too much. I have plenty in my closet already. Same goes for pumps. Noone in my world dresses so fancy. I gotta pull myself back to reality and focus on basics that will get used.

  23. Whoa, lady lace popover back to $198, in almost identical colors as last round? Last batch lingered in sale forever...I got mine last month for $49. (Love it but never would have spent $200 for it). Also got the icon trench for $136 last week, and now it's back to FP. (I don't see a difference in the collar? I think it's just buttoned closed in the pic). Timing is really everything with JC.

I like that they did the hacking in double serge wool. Not sure I like the contrast tipping, but I was just lamenting that the so-cute solid color hacking jackets were overly scratchy and asking why they didn't make them in the lovely double serge wool.

  24. OT-- silver_lining:

just wanted to thank you for your info on EmersonMade yesterday. i ordered one skirt and emailed customer service about the other one i wanted (out of stock)... they got back to me in like 10 minutes! and the skirt i did buy has already shipped and will be arriving tonight!

  25. My favourites are the Winsome Dress in blurry rose and the Merino Fair Isle Sweater. I was so excited about the black and white tipped Hacking Jacket, but for some reason I am underwhelmed by the product shots on the website and am sad to hear that it attracts lint like crazy (especially as a dog owner).

I tried on the Moonlighter Dress in store a couple of weeks ago and it was AWFUL on me, probably the worst thing I've tried on in a very long time. The fabric stuck out away from my body (by about 3 inches) on either side above my hips. I don't know if my hips just aren't big enough to fill it out, but it was hilarious looking (even my PS laughed). It is also extremely unforgiving and shows any flaws in the tummy area - if you look at how the model is standing in the side-view photo I think that gives a pretty good idea of how you would have to stand all the time while wearing this dress.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Very interesting to see the 'reissues' I guess someone is listening....

    ReplyDelete
  27. Caitlin, I bought the Windsome dress in my B&M couple of weeks ago and it is lovely.
If you sometimes have issues with dresses sticking out in the hips like you described above, this dress will not disappoint. I have the same issue with some dresses but this was a perfect fit for me. The fabric is wool but it drapes nicely and it is not itchy, it is bra friendly but also looks good with a cardi. I usually cannot do solid red near my face but this print is stunning and very flattering to my complexion.

  29. I thought there were some nice pieces this rollout. I love my Lexingtons, so was happy to see them remake this one. Good to know the buttons aren't junky! I love the blackwatch shirt. Glad they added new Lady Lace colors, but agree that I won't buy them full price. Sally dress looks nice. I love the pink and blue leather gloves, and will have to get another pair of the glovettes in the acorn color, as I loved my gray ones last year. p.s. tons of old popbacks in the sale section!

I agree, the Natasha blouse runs large. I sized down in it. I will have a pic of it later today on my blog.

these gloves will look great with my black peacoat and a bright dahlia scarf!

  34. I totally in love with the blurry rose print. I just ordered the Flair skirt this morning, now I'm eyeballing the Winsome dress.... I also love the Natasha polka dot silk top.

@Alexis - LOL re: your comment about the Quoddy leopard print boots!! Too funny, and so true!

    ReplyDelete
  35. I kinda like the metallic boucle pencil skirt, but not in a have-to-have way. I'm a huge bubble necklace fan so it's fun to see it back. But I'm not digging the colour selection. Bubbles in red is a BOLD statement!

    ReplyDelete
  36. zomg, the bubble necklace is back! they should have called it the Lazarus necklace to see if anyone got the joke. ;)

I agree with FFM, nothing's doing it for me this time around. Can't really say why. Possibly because in the last 12 months or o, I've bought every little jacket and such that struck my fancy, and I have completely run out of room in my closet(s). Embarrassing but true.

On a sidenote, I was in my local Target today and honestly, you'd never even know the Missoni stuff was ever there. My store moved a (dwindling) bunch of little girls' Missoni clothes to the women's section to fill the gap, LOL! I found one lone duvet cover and shams set misplaced in the home section of the store, but it wasn't really my bag.

NYT said as of yesterday there were 6,000 Missoni for Target items on eBay. Ain't that somethin'?

    ReplyDelete
  37. Elaine, it's almost up to 38,000 right now. Wow.

    ReplyDelete
  38. So the red jacket in Look 05 is the Hacking Jacket in Double-Serge Wool (51884, $250) in Heather Bright Berry. Hmmmm... looks red to me! I'm not really interested in a berry colored jacket. Also interesting that this is the same price point as the Lex. It will be rolled out sometime in October.

    ReplyDelete
  39. That's obscene about the Target Missoni items and ebay. yuck. They should institute some limits to cut down on scalping.

I like the silk polka dot blouse in the new arrivals- pretty basic and a bit overpriced, but totally classic. I will bite at some point!

    ReplyDelete
  40. silver_lining maybe they mean berry like in strawberry or raspberry?

    ReplyDelete
  41. Give me a coupon on full priced items and free shipping and I would buy the blackwatch perfect shirt and the Boy shirt in stripe crepe de chine(not new, but I still want it on sale :)) ITA agree with posters here - my closet is stuffed and there aren't enough days in the year or places to go to wear it all :)
@shopwithm - holy cow! I can't believe the many many OLD pop-backs!!! yikes.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Love your new blog header Alexis :D I'm excited to see a few of the classics getting reissued. Would have to try on the jackets for fit, to be sure. As for the bubble necklace, I tried on a very good knock off, and it's just too large on me (5'3"). Would be nice if they could issue that one in a smaller version for my shortie self. Otherwise glad to see the new arrivals but nothing I haev to have at the moment.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I also feel safe from any temptation with this rollout and I'm especially gun-shy about shopping after the way the blogosphere has been rocked because of the problems people have had with Antrholic's personal shopping service. I need to appreciate the clothing I have. I'm happy for people who will get the chance to own a Lexington but slightly annoyed J. Crew has re-made this style every year since it came out in 2007. At the risk of sound like a Bitter Betty, it makes my jacket less special to see sooooo many women wearing some version of it. We all style and wear things in different and creative ways and usually I'm thrilled when I'm rocking the same Crew pieces as someone else but it sometimes reaches a tipping point. I almost never wear my field jacket because I see so many women in it. :/ That being said, I don't want to take away from the happiness people will get from owning the new Lexington. It's just frustrating to see J. Crew continually knocking themselves off with ever-increasing prices and decreased quality.

    ReplyDelete
  44. nomoneyfun, would you mind sharing a link to the personal shopping debacle you referenced? Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  45. I'm glad to see that JC is bring more classic items back. However, I too have a lot of items that I need to start wearing before buying more jackets (my weakness).
I just have become more careful with buying classic pieces with quality. I'm done with buying disposables...
Also, why are some dresses thigh length (granted the models are much taller than I am)? I'm just not at the mini skirt length age and they are not work appropriate for me.
That said, if JC sends me extra % off full price items, I do have several items I'd like to get.

Ok, some of the popbacks are from 2years ago. Who's doing inventory check or returns? Only at JC things like this can happen...

  47. I may be in the minority here but the new skirt lengths do NOTHING for my frame. The Flair Skirt in my usual size 4 hits me in a horrible spot, and my legs look like tree trunks in it. The fullness in the hip area makes me look even W-I-D-E-R.

I know many people love it, so maybe I just need to back away from the caramel lattes and get my butt to the gym.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I've been dying for a long puffer for forever so the Wintress has caught my eye... (that is unless anyone has a previous release one they're looking to sell!) But no real "must-haves" for me.

    ReplyDelete
  49. finally--the sally dress is online! sold really well in my local shops. size down on this one, ladies--runs 1-2 sizes large!

    ReplyDelete
  50. I don't see anything I have to have, but that may change after I try items on. I do like the Natasha top, but that's about it. However, I LOVE the green pants in the picture at the top of All Time Favorites - anyone know what these are? I'd guess the cafe capri in wool, but no green shows up. As for the hacking jacket, I'd rather have the dark grape or midnight ocean. Hoping for a good discount and one of these will come home - probably be my only purchase for that month! :)

    ReplyDelete
  51. Made it to my store tonight and tried a few items:

Fair Isle Sweater - I tried this in my usual XS and found it quite short (the waistband of my jeans was visible) and quite itchy. It was pretty, but not for me.

Betsy Sweater - I liked this a lot, especially in the aqua, but I needed to size down to a size XXS for a fit I liked...the XS was too boxy and loose through the body for me.

Winsome Dress - This dress is stunning in person. It fit well in my usual size 0 with a tiny bit of room to spare and hit just an inch or so above my knee (I'm 5'9). My only issue was that the armholes gaped ever so slightly (there was a bit of a gap between the straps and the top of my shoulder) - if you zoom in on the front view model shot you can see the same thing happening. I didn't bite today, but I am seriously considering going for it and having a tailor shorten the straps by about half an inch.

Sally Dress - I felt as though this added bulk to my upper half (but I am a size bigger on top than on bottom, so this is probably more of an issue for me than it would be for most people). Other than that I quite liked it, though it didn't feel like a $350 ($400 in Canada) dress to me.

No. 2 Pencil Skirt in Blackwatch Plaid - I really disliked this on me. I felt that it fit a bit small (I would probably want a size 2, I wear a 00 in the wool No. 2 and a 0 in the tweed No. 2, for reference), I didn't like the bell shape and it was quite short on me, hitting a few inches above the knee. I also wasn't crazy about the front button/zip closure. I'm sure this will look fabulous on some, though!

In old news (for everyone else), the Emmaleigh Dress is a revelation! I've never tried it before but it was in my store tonight and it is FANTASTIC! I have no idea what colour to get, though. The beautiful Peacock is sold out in my size and I can't wear the tan or mauve colours, which leaves the black, navy or grey. I have the 120s Jayne dress in charcoal, the 120s Allura in black and the superfine cotton Attache in navy. I'm leaning towards black or navy, but I'm having trouble deciding.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Ruffles, it isn't just you. I loved the idea of the flair skirt, but my usual 4 didn't work either. I tried the 4 petite (which was much more flattering for me in the Jardine), but that was even worse. The Calvary twill skirt will have to meet my twill skirt need.

  53. Hey everyone, I've been scanning the October catalog last night and will finish reformatting it for upload today.

  55. Closet Crisis: Thank you for the nice words on the new banner! :)

Louise @ cosmetic bee: Thanks! I thought I was the only one thinking about that with the boots. ;)

  56. Glad to see things I'm excited about trying! I love the preppy but not dowdy pieces J. Crew does so well, glad to see more of them this time around. Bravo on the work-appropriate skirts and dresses!

As for the leopard Quoddy boots, I'm in the minority, I guess, but I covet them. I won't be buying them at that price, though. Here's hoping they hit clearance in my size someday.....

  57. Life as a cat - Woo hoo! Thanks. I can't wait to see the Oct. catalog.
Thanks so much for taking the time to do this.

  58. OT - just noticed Free Shipping on a few of the dresses. The Winsome is one of them.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Question, tell me it is not so. The Academy coat in herringbone has knit sleeves???? I thought originally it was 3/4 sleeves which seemed crazy for a winter coat but read the description...'The sleeve cuffs are finished with ribbed knit trim that doubles as fingerless gloves, perfect for keeping hands warm'.??? WTH...Josanne Just noticed they added Free Shipping to some coats...what about 20% off too???

    ReplyDelete
  60. The "Free Shipping" is on items that are >$175 to begin with. Kinda silly... makes me wonder what kind of ordering trends they're seeing since the new shipping charges went into effect. I hope this is not their idea of a promo!

    ReplyDelete
  61. LOL, silver lining I was thinking the same thing...did they think people could not read the banner on the top about free shipping over $175. Josanne

    ReplyDelete
  62. Maybe having such a high limit for Free Shipping isn't working for them.
Here's hoping they lower the limit.

  69. So, I had my heart set on the Foundry pant but when I went to the site, all they have left is a size 12! I'm annoyed, to say the least. First, because the whole reason I waited is that $158 is a ridiculous amount of money for a casual cotton pant. Second, because J.Crew never seems able to accurately anticipate demand. Anyway, I hope all of you who got the pants enjoy them!
