J.Crew, maybe you might be

A few Madewell reviews here.
ReplyDeleteI'm loving Boden lately. Their customer service is outstanding. I ordered a top that apparently got lost in the mail. I emailed CS and not only did they overnight a new top, the gave me a price adjustment as the top was now on sale.
ReplyDeleteBoden is having daily sales this week: yesterday was dresses, today is skirts, pants/jeans, coats and jackets...
DeleteLoft has 50% off everything (except, not everything - FP Lou & Grey items are excluded) today only with code RUSH50. I like their linen tees, and Gigi's been reviewing a lot of their dresses lately.
ReplyDeleteIf anyone is looking for gingham button up shirts like Jcrew always used to carry, check the Joe Fresh line at JcPenney. They are regular $29, online for $19 and were on clearance in my store for $14.99. Keep an eye out for coupons. This past weekend it was $10 off $25 so I got them 2 for $20. The colors are light pink, coral, dark blue (really is royal blue), green (kinda between emerald and mint) and light green (a lemony neon green). I wear a 6 in perfect shirts, a 4 in boy shirts and took a Small in these. They are 100% cotton and do shrink some so keep that on mind if you are on the the upper end of a size. While the quality amd fabric is not as nice as the crew ( the cuff isn't as wide for turning up) it is a pretty good substitute. I bought 4 and have one from last year too that has held up well. I missed out on all the cute gingham shirts from days of yore and am happy to have these.
ReplyDeleteLike AudreyS said above, there is a big "catch of the day" sale going on at Boden right now. On Monday they "caught" tops, tees, and knitwear, and on Tuesday they "caught" dresses. Today is jeans, pants, coats, jackets, and skirts.
ReplyDeleteI had been writing up blog posts on these sales, but since today our family is at the Magic Kingdom all day, I just updated my facebook page. You can head on to the latest facebook update if you would like more information. :-)
There will be a catch tomorrow and one on Friday. The one on Friday should last the whole weekend, btw.
I've shared numerous J.Crew-like items on my blog again this week. See them in this post. Included this week are less-expensive alternatives for the beaded rose necklace, camo tee, tessellate necklace, & Lillian mirror metallic low wedges, just to name a few. :)
ReplyDeleteA couple of cute items:
ReplyDeletefrom Gap, the sun kissed floral chambray shorts are very cute: http://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?vid=1&pid=941819012
Just make sure you don't accidentally purchase the maternity version instead, like I did: http://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?vid=1&pid=958667002
(I must say, however, that maternity wear has come a long way since I was pregnant 10 years ago! I opened this (which is not labelled as maternity!) and thought -- oh, Gap is doing pull on shorts too! And in fact, if I can't return in-store, I will just keep these; they look fine as long as you wear a long enough tee!)
Another aside: can someone explain how to insert a link in a comment?
AudreyS, go here. This blogger explains it perfectly and even has a template that you can use.
DeleteThank you D! Let's try:
DeleteAnd for more eyelet, these converse shoes from Nordstrom are adorable; just make sure to size down by 1/2 a size.
Also these high top converses, although I changed the laces to navy. Also run large, so size down by 1/2.
AAAck! So cool D*ska! :)

ReplyDeleteSo sorry for all the deletes! I am having issues with links.
ReplyDeleteI did a kids' uniform return to Lands' End and saw this dress:
http://www.landsend.com/products/womens-woven-eyelet-open-back-dress/id_265427
It's very cute and nicely made. 100% cotton and machine washable with pockets. It's not listed as seersucker, but it is, and it's a lighter shade than it looks online, the standard seersucker blue color. Even though I am just a smidge over 5'2", I got the regular, not the petite, as, for full skirts, I like it to hit below the knee.
Incidentally, I have never seen seersucker eyelet before, and this year there are two great ones, this one as well as this one from JC, as seen here
https://www.jcrew.com/womens_category/dresses/Day/PRD~A2587/A2587.jsp?Nbrd=J&Nloc=en_US&Nrpp=48&Npge=1&Ntrm=seersucker+eyelet&isFromSearch=true&isSaleItem=false&isNewSearch=true&hash=row0
and on Wendy:

As with the JC eyelet shirt dress, go with the larger of your two dress sizes or you will have the pocket bulging issue, as I had and as Gigi described:
http://www.gigisgoneshopping.com/2014/04/j-crew-seersucker-seersucker-eyelet.html
Here's one more from BR that you can get on the occasional 40% off promo.
Deletethat runs TTS with JC sizing.
Deletesilver_lining & AudreyS thanks for the mentions!
ReplyDeleteI reviewed more Loft items in this post. Seven of them, incl a pair of shorts, pants, a couple sweaters and a couple tops.
RUSH50 ends today at Loft. I'm in a romper.
ReplyDeleteLove the Everlane box-cut tee. I sized up to an M for a slouchy feel and it's great. The tee is soft and thick (100% cotton, made in USA). I'm pretty short-waisted so it doesn't feel cropped on me, but does show about a half-inch of skin if I do the "throw your hands in the air" test. I think it will be great for spring and summer.
ReplyDeleteI have finally caught the sneaker bandwagon. But not with work clothes, although that is greatly influenced by the fact that I am a SAHM. But, altho I get the appeal of the retro-ness of the Nike Internationalist, I just don't like the way that sneaker looks. There is somehow too much room between the top of the laces and the end of the foot making the foot look weirdly pointy shaped. I also don't feel like this is an especially good sneaker, as far as foot support goes. If I'm limited to Nike, I do like the way this shoe looks (and I have it), and because these are actual training shoes, they have better support.
ReplyDeleteI also really like Converses, always have, always will.
For better foot support, I also have and *super* love these. IMO, much cuter than the Nike Internationalist, and much better support.
Loft - 3 more dresses reviewed, including 2 maxis. Check out this post.
ReplyDeleteLoft - Based on what I'm reading on their fb page, their core customers are unhappy w/the very thin models and the neutral color palette. I guess they're trying to move the merch.
ReplyDeleteMUSTSHOP gets 40% off everything. It started yesterday and I guess will go at leas thru Sun, 4/27. Shop w/the Loft Irl Pic Guide for pics & reviews
Review of the Madewell Outbound Jacket in Camo here on my blog. :)
