This is the weekly "Help Style Me!" post, where we can share items we are having trouble putting outfits together with. Elaine (in this
post) says it best, "You know, that thing you
bought because you love it and you keep pulling it
out and then putting it away without wearing it?"
Please
share your J.Crew item (either that you own or
are thinking about getting) that you would love help
creating an outfit with.
Also,
please help out by offering your styling advice. Feel
free to include links to your blog (where you
incorporated that piece) or to Polyvore (where you
showcased an outfit with that piece). Thanks in advance!

I could use some help finding the right undergarment to wear under all these sheer linen tops that I have collected. I have been wearing tank tops but then the shirt clings to them in all the wrong places!
ReplyDeleteHave you tried cotton tank tops? They usually do not cling with mine.
DeleteI have the same issue. I have the silk cami, but it doesn't seem right under the linen tees. I guess it would work if you tucked it in. Try the neutral/nude color? It's sheer on its own but might provide just enough coverage under the tees.
DeleteMaybe something like a bralette type top?
DeleteGreetings Cheri - Two words . . . Nude Bra. Preferably with as little embellishment as possible. And invest in a Nude T-Shirt Bra for clingy knit tops. They seem to make any see-through issues disappear. Even with items you don't think will pass the test . . . like the Silk Dash-Dot Blouse. Good luck! Jennifer
DeleteCheri - I've read a few blog posts that sweater by Uniqlo's heattech. I think they've renamed the product to Airism. Click here to view. Haven't tried any myself.
DeleteThanks everyone! I have nude Old Navy tanks that are like a camisole but the linen seems to cling to them. Maybe I'll try the Uniqlo - even wondering about some type of Spanx - I have had 4 kids so every little bump shows in those tops!
DeleteI wear a nude bra under anything sheer. Works really well.
DeleteReview here of the ceramic jewelry tray (both stripes) & the stone grid necklace (GOSHOP for 30% off).
ReplyDeleteAnd in case you're not following the Weekly Retailers thread, RUSH50 for 50% off sitewide & in-store ends today at Loft. Tried on a romper.
Does anyone know how the Marina canvas mini wedge espadrilles run? Are they TTS? The only jcrew shoes I've ever had are the Cece flats and I had to size up to a 7 for those (I'm usually a 6.5 in shoes)
ReplyDeleteWould anyone mind sharing what they wear their pixies with as we go into spring? Other than Gigi's very valid cover thine bootay guideline I am drawing a blank!
ReplyDeleteI've been wearing untucked button-downs (or is it button-ups?) over mine. Heavier ones like the military pocket shirt from last fall on cooler days, lighter chambray when it's warmer. I'll add a belt and/or bling-y necklace when I want a more structured or dressed-up look. I think a longer silk blouse could also work well, maybe something like JC's two-pocket version that I think is still on promo.
DeleteI wear boyfriend style tees like the side slit tunic with my pixies in the summer.
DeleteThin merino tunic or long tees, but frankly, I am getting a bit too warm in them so I may be packing them away soon.
DeleteThank you! Great suggestions looks like I will be wearing my pixies more often.
DeleteReally think I am going to buy the leather tuxedo stripe pixies now with the sale and 50% off.I need help with sizing. I wear a 6 in pants at jcrew for the most part, but I always have room in the waist. Should I size down or stay with the 6? TIA!
ReplyDeleteI wear the same size in the leather tuxedo stripe pixies as I do in the jcrew shorts. I find the leather pixies fit slightly bigger than the plain ones (maybe 1/2 size I would say). HTH!
DeleteI take a 4 in the Campbell capris and took a 2 in the leather tuxedo stripe pixies. HTH:)
ReplyDeleteYesterday I wore the collection peacoat and trouser pant in white wool flannel with silver snakeskin pumps and the dramatic leather opera gloves in dusty pink. I felt like a gladiator. All that was missing was my white hat. haha.
ReplyDeleteWow! very gladiator like. I love love love her wardrobe.
DeleteMe too Amahendra! But most pieces that she wears aren't feasible for me so I just try to recreate the looks with what I have.
