If you have recently experienced a frustrating situation with J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including poor experiences with purchases & orders, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. So I finally received the Merino silk-panel sweater in antique floral / XX-SMALL / HTHR SANDSTONE and it's not really what I expected. The colours on this sweater is really muted. Does anyone else notice that the colours on the website and in person is not portray accurately? I had another problem with a JCrew bag and I wasn't happy with the color. It was suppose to be a light pink color but it was a muted brown.

    1. I feel the same way! With the old layout I would have dropped some serious cash on these sales . . . but now I look around for a few minutes, get irritated, and click away.

    2. Agree. If there is something specific I am looking for I will go to that category and take a quick look. Other than that it just takes too much time to look through everything. Glad to be saving money though!

    3. I would love to see J.Crew bring the old layout back! I've been using the link Mel posted here to access the old sale layout, but if it weren't for that link, I'm not sure I would visit the sale section at all.

    4. I love having Mel's link to the old format. I am out of the habit of checking the sale section now (and this is a very good thing!), but every now and then I'll take a spin through it the old way.

    5. thank you so much for that link!

  3. Do new items really "sell out" overnight in all sizes after lingering for weeks or has JC started playing hide-and-seek again? Fooey.

  4. As I looked at the sale section today, I was really struck by the totality of I saw, and the truly poor design judgement at J Crew.

In what universe were the metallic marigold, overblown floral and abstract coral prints a good idea?

Why on earth did the leadership approve so many boxy short-sleeve back-zip sweaters (in colors like "ballet parsley") and them style them so unflatteringly?

Why are SO MANY items bedazzled?

Why is there a sea of especially tacky bridesmaid dresses in inexcuseable colors that don't reflect the tastes of J Crew customers?

These are not fresh, modern or tasteful.

It makes me so sad that my favorite clothing company has lost its way. I truly don't understand it.

  5. I am just tired of the pricing games jcrew playes. I bought the grecian dress for $50 amd now its back to full price,ha?
It takes so much time to shop jcrew and return and get price adjustments!

    1. Same with the Collection featherweight cashmere henley and Featherweight cotton v-neck cardigan. I got the heather pearl color in the former for less than half of the full price at the beginning of last month. Now it is back to full price. Even with an additional 25% off I won't bite. I was hoping to get the navy which was also on sale then if I remember correctly. I'm kicking myself now but mostly I'm more than a little miffed at J.Crew. The cotton cardigan is also back up to full price but I got all the colors that I wanted. Those things are great for the warmer months but aren't worth anything near full price.

  7. I used the "We Will Find it For You" service after buying the Bronze Vans Slip-ons in the wrong size. After 1 day I got an email confirming the item was found and would be shipped to me. Today, 5 days later, I contacted JCREW as I hadn't received the item. They told me the order was cancelled because they couldn't get my payment to process. I received no email to inform of this problem! They called my husbands phone and didn't leave a message. Now, I have already returned the slightly large shoe and do not have the replacement. I am furious with this service. These shoes are sold out everywhere and discontinued from Vans. I had to re-do the whole thing and will probably not get the shoes. UG.

    1. WWFIFY is really hit or miss. got the confirmation that my shoes were found *yay* a few days go by & my card was never charged. so i send them an email asking for an update. they say all is well. a week goes by... nothing... so i send another email. again they say all is well. so i send a 3rd email asking for the store info that is shipping the shoes. it was then where they advised me that the store actually sold the shoes before the WWFIFY could fully be processed. they DID however gv me 40% off on my nxt order. try to have them do the same for you. good luck!

    2. Oh no, that is terrible! I used that service with Madewell and the store that had my item called me when they couldn't process my payment. They left a message and I called back and it was no problem. I can't believe J.Crew wouldn't do the same thing!

  8. JCrew just made the TOP 5 list of stores NEVER to pay full price for anything:) Ha ha. Take that Mickey!

  9. BODEN is the J.Crew of old. Just got their catalog and it's love love love for almost everything — Fresh, Fun, and Flirty! The fact that they use some of the girls who model for JC makes the transition even smoother. I am home.

    1. Yes I agree. The Nancy dress in the summer print looks like J. Crew of old. A lot of the Boden stuff has that old J. Crew vibe.

  10. Does anyone notice that their navy Downtown Field Jacket isn't colorfast? I started noticing blue dye on lighter color items after wearing my coat -- and it shows up in the elbow area where contact would be made when bending my arms. I took a white dishcloth and rubbed it against the inside of the coat and, voila, blue dye! I also have the olive colored one and have no issues with dye bleed. The navy field jacket is retail from early fall -- not Factory. Anyone???

    1. You could tell CS about your two jackets, and hopefully they will take back the navy as a defect. I finally figured out the right size for me and have the navy on its way to me, and I haven't worn the olive one out yet, but I hope I don't have any issues!

  11. My biggest disappointment was , as i was checking out at Jcrew.com.... my transaction bounced back after i purchased and said that there was an Error with my order. I later discovered that the most beautiful Gem collage necklace was no longer available. WHY DIDNT IT SAVE TO MY CART? C'mon Jcrew....youve got to at least have enough necklaces so that the online purchasing can be completed. I immediately called jcrew and they said they would do a search, but doubted it would result in anything. and immediately i got an email saying "no luck". it was as if they didn't even try to find it for me.
I just find it hard to believe that in all the stores in the country, and online, and factory, that they couldn't find it. it seems crazy.. Sad sad.... disappointment.

  12. Oh, I need to vent. Can't believe my own level of stupid sometimes. So I own just one pair of corduroys I actually like, and they are J Crew Tall Matchsticks in an off-white color from about two years ago. Last week Tall Matchstick corduroys appeared in sale section for $15 apiece, and that price caused me want!-want! grabby hands like a silly little schoolgirl. Embarrassing, yeah. I ordered two of them, and they arrived tonight. Tried them on and couldn't believe my eyes - they are way short! At least two inches shorter than my beloved and washed-several-times older pair; they look ridiculous on me. I went back to the website and guess what, it actually says right there that the inseam is 33", for the TALL size. I just didn't read or comprehend the blurb before ordering! Gosh. I buy tall pants all the time and expect them to be 35" or 36". (Madewell rail-straight jeans are 34" and I can't wear them.) My Tall Matchstick jeans are fine (about a year old), as are the old cords. Now they consider an inseam of 33" to be tall? Yikes! (I might be sized out of future Matchsticks!) In a slightly strange twist, one of these shorty pants is marked Final Sale and the other isn't (they both were supposed to be FS), so I'll try to return both; wish me luck.
Ladies, don't be as dumb as I, remember to read the fine print always...

    1. If you explain to them that they don't fit as expected (based on what you've ordered previously) then I think you can return them... If nothing else, they should give you store credit!

  13. I used UPS Sure Post, for the first time, and naturally UPS somehow sent my order to the wrong local post office and they lost my box. I contacted J. Crew and of course they made me wait till the last day that the 6-8 day potential shipping range had expired, before they would do anything about it. The UPS website even listed the box as misplaced. I will give J.Crew some credit, they just re-shipped my entire order UPS overnight but I will NEVER NEVER select UPS Sure Post ever again. It should not take 10 days to get my order.

  14. I can't stand sure post. It adds 2 days to the delivery time. I signed up for that UPS program where you can upgrade the shipping method. It's an extra 3.50 but so worth it. I've noticed more retailers are using sure post, fine, but don't charge a premium to have the post office deliver. If I pay 8 bucks or more ( anthro!!!) I want UPS to deliver to my front door.

    1. Thanks for the tip. I think I am still going to avoid Sure Post when possible but its good that there is an option to upgrade it if needed.

  19. I placed several orders with J.Crew recently, and they decided to charge my credit card for EACH ITEM INDIVIDUALLY. Going through my credit card statement and figuring out if the charges were correct or not was a nightmare!!
