This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale
items at our
various local J.Crew stores. ;)
If
you are stopping
by a J.Crew store this weekend to see
what's available (if
anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in
person, maybe you might be
willing to share that with us in this
post. In particular, if you could
share with us a few of the
noteworthy items that are available, at
what prices, and potential sizes
the store is carrying (as well
as the store location)- that would be
fantastic!
Also,
please let us know if your local store is
carrying an additional percent
off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)
P.S.
I noticed that many of
you have already been reporting sale
items (and in which stores) in
other posts which by the way "thank
you!" :) I really appreciate how
helpful we are for each other!
Yeah. Curious about new arrivals and what's hanging around in sale section.
ReplyDeleteThinking about getting the ZIP-POCKET DRESS Item 03344
Any advice on fit? I'm normally a 4 in dresses but I have a thick waist and narrow hips (ruler shaped) so I'm wondering if I should size down to a 2 since the dress is more of a shift dress.
Hi MissJR - Gigi reviewed the dress here. HTH!
DeleteI thought that it fit TTS if you like I looser shift fit like in the photos, which I do. I normally wear a 0 in dresses and it fit just right.
Deletesilver_lining - thanks for the zip-pocket dress link love :)
DeleteThe Darby suede loafers in black have hit sale. And the excursion vest in stripe (only large and x-large online).
ReplyDeleteMy size is gone already, don't hesitate if you want them, the price is right!
DeleteNow the full size range is gone and the only sizes left are 9H and/or 10 (both colors)!
DeleteHas anyone tried on the Cleo loafers in suede? I'd love to hear if they are sized the same as the Darby.
... and they just called me (plus sent an email for good measure) to say that my order this morning of black suede Darby's is cancelled. Oh well.
DeleteWhat!? seriously that's is terrible. I wonder if anyone else's order got canceled.
DeleteI had a pair of black suede Darby loafers in my shopping bag in an 8.5 for two weeks now, patiently waiting for a 25-30% off sitewide promo code. I literally checked daily to see if there was a code or a sale. The last few days have been extremely busy and I missed that they went on sale! I was so upset, especially since my beloved Cece flats are discontinued. I wear my black leather Cece flats almost daily to work and they are starting to show some wear. I planned to replace them with the Darby's. I have just completed a WFIFY for the black suede pair so I am really hoping they pop up somewhere. So bummed! I am interested to hear how everyone likes the Cleo loafer in suede. I guess those will be my next purchase if the Darby's can't be found.
DeleteIt really baffles me that they are replacing some of their best selling shoe styles.
NICOLE, I think you'll find them. I bought a backup pair a few weeks ago in black suede at full price and was kind of kicking myself for not waiting for promo. I really want to hear a review of the suede Cleo loafers too.
DeleteStopped in this week and reviewed a ton of new arrivals HERE
ReplyDeleteAdvice needed: I bought the Schoolboy Blazer in Black Watch Plaid in December. It is now on final sale and with the discount it comes to a really great price. I am trying to buy it on popback but have been missing it.
ReplyDeleteSo here's my question: If I take it to a store (it is still with tags and receipt), will they let be do a return and buy it back on the spot? I have around 2 weeks left on the return period of 60 days to do this. It would save me close to a $100. Or should I just wait and hope it shows up on a popback and return the one I have?
Thanks!
I would call customer service. I have had great luck with getting price adjustments when items have gone on sale. I am always polite and never have been refused. Good luck.
DeleteI would call customer service too. I usually just ask them to do it to save me the hassle of returning it and re-buying it. They always have been good about it. I might get a little "just this one time" lecture, but they do it.
DeleteI called CS but the rep insisted she couldn't do it since I bought it SO long ago (well, it is still within the return period).
DeleteMaybe I'll call again to try a different rep.
J.Crew, like many other retailers, offers price adjustments within 7 days of purchase. Officially they only do this for full-price merchandise, but I've also gotten PAs for sale items, which seems pretty generous. You may be pushing it for an item purchased 6 weeks ago.
DeleteIf you are not successful with CS, I would try the store. It is definitely worth it for $100 and I think they will take care of it for you.
ReplyDeleteI went to J.Crew on Wednesday to check out the new arrivals, so I'll be visiting Madewell this weekend instead.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Teacups. My stores always do price adjustments for me. And they offer.....I don't have to grovel for it.
ReplyDeletehi is it worth the trip to the new store at Alderwood Mall (Seattle area) or should I stick to the downtown location or U Village...looking to see the new shoes etc.
ReplyDeleteI was there about a month ago....definitely worth it, in my opinion. It had more stock than the Bellevue Square store.
DeleteI have to go to make some returns.
ReplyDeleteFYI for anyone who ordered the Goldsign Glam jeans, I received the Jenny jeans, which I already have. They are literally the exact same jean as I own. I love the Jenny ones, and was hoping to score another pair of the Goldsigns since they fit great. I can't tell if I was sent the wrong item or if they are just the same jean listed as two different things. They look different on the website (and are priced differently), but that doesn't really mean anything. The packaging states that they are the Glam Jean, but they are definitely the Jenny.
I'm definitely curious about this "major denim" development that I got an email from J Crew about this morning. So if I have time on my lunch break I'm gonna go try on a pair. I also want to try the new merino tunic silhouette, since I love Tippis so much but sometimes want something with butt coverage : )
ReplyDeleteBy the way, off-topic but has anyone tried or bought Chimala jeans from Madewell? They look SO great in the pictures I've seen but I haven't checked them out in person yet. I probably shouldn't even be considering $500 jeans but I am intrigued...
ReplyDeleteI have never seen those in the Seattle stores, but Madewell has free shipping and free returns on the jeans, so it may be worth your while to check them out.
DeleteHoping to get in to do returns. I am on the fence about the leather tuxedo stripe Pixies that were a great deal - on promo + 40 off. I ordered sz. 6, same size I wear in the regular Pixies. These felt a bit tighter and had a higher rise which normally I like, but b/c they're a little snug, I feel muffin toppy. Can anyone comment on whether these stretch out or not? I'm just not up for returning and re-ordering, but maybe I should do it and sz. up one.
ReplyDeleteHmm. I seemed to have a different experience with these. I bought my normal pixie size and because these do not have a thick elastic band around the waist like the normal pixie I found that within a few hours they stretched out and kept falling down and giving me droopy crotch. LOL! I ended up getting a size down and they seem to work better for me. But I would say they definitely stretch throughout the day.
DeleteI ordered the leather front pixies in my regular pixie size and they seem a little smaller than my non-leather pixies.
DeleteThey definitely don't have the same elastic waistband as the pixies. Truth be told, I couldn't really get them on to see, but I'm very pregnant right now. As I said before, the regular pixies have worked for me throughout the pregnancy (and still go on fine), but it was really hard to get the leather ones on (and I didn't feel like struggling with my pants!). My plan was to save them for after baby anyway, so I'm still going to do that. By them time I can get them on, they'll probably be beyond the return window. I'm willing to take the chance, because I really want real leather leggings and the price was reasonable on these ($178 after discount).
Thanks for the info, ladies. @Jess F, I only just tried them on once, so maybe I should consider hanging onto the size I have if they stretch so much. Other than the waist, they fit pretty good. Do they stretch too much? Like you feel like you constantly have to hike your pants up? I prefer the waistband on the regular Pixies to the leather ones.
DeleteMine were the tuxedo stripe ones. they seemed like a good fit when i initially tried them on. Then I wore them around the house for a few hours. They definitely stretched to the point where i was hiking them up every time I stood up. I definitely prefer the waistband on the regular pixies as it stays in place better. To me the legs did not seem that tight and I have more athletic legs. I like them as they are something different so I will keep them but did reorder a size down and they are better. HTH!
DeleteThanks for the info. Mine are the tuxedo stripe ones as well. Since I was thinking of sizing up, I may keep the size I have.
Delete@BlakeMDJohns, I was remembering you talking about wearing the regular pixies through your pregnancy. I am still wearing my same pair at 19 wks, I am wondering if you stayed in your same size through pregnancy, or did you ever size up? Do you roll the waistband down at all? I ordered the maternity pixies to try at one point but I was bummed that the fabric seemed different.
DeleteLove to hear about your tricks for wearing the regular ones all pregnancy....
And anyone else have thoughts on the maternity pants?
I didn't size up and the waistband fit under the bump. They didn't roll or fall down at all. They ended up being my go to pant because they're nicer than a regular legging and way more comfortable than maternity jeans (I never found a good pair of maternity jeans -- next time I'll probably splurge for a good pair).
DeleteEveryone carries differently and gains differently, but these pants just worked for me. I got the maternity Minnies and they are okay, but they stretch sooooooo much. They look so sloppy by the end of the day. And I feel like they had to be dry cleaned every single time I wore them because they were so out of shape at the end of the day.
Went to Michigan Avenue store just now. Dead - as in no one there. Sale section basically gone at this point. They did have camo scarves if anyone is still looking for one. And a couple of jewelry pieces (sorry don't recall which ones exactly). None of the new stuff jumped out. I love the that new tunic dress (shown with the sneakers in the style guide) but that crepe material is snag city for sure.
ReplyDeleteWent in today...very underwhelmed by the new arrivals IRL. There was no sale section...maybe one sweater back there. I loved the love birds t online but am meh on it IRL...doesn't pass the penneys test. Also wanted the crepe dress but the slit in the front is way too low for me...when will they make a dress that isn't cut super low with a hookandeye closure? Also there is a bib (not sure what to call it) on the front fabric I didnt like. Agree that this is going to snag big time...half the ones in the store are already snagged. Bummer. The new silk scarves are very pretty but also very thin...not sure it is worth $70...maybe around $40/$50. Loved the new leather tote...got the navy. There is a leather change purse inside. I don't like how there is no closure but really like the general unstructured look. Wanted to try the new Eastwood jeans but they didn't have any...would love to see a review on these. Also no shoes in my store. Nothing really stood out for me...I wasn't blown away like I'd hoped I'd be.
ReplyDeleteSorry if this has already been posted, but just noticed J Crew Factory site is offering 40% off jewelry AND free shipping!
ReplyDeleteOff-topic, but in case anyone is planning to shop at Madewell this weekend: I have a Madewell credit note worth $122.99 and I am willing to sell it for $112.99 o.b.o. Contact me at stylishchemist at gmail if interested.
ReplyDeleteHappy Lunar New Year to all JCAs!!
I went to check out the new arrivals, plus some old items I just now saw last night. Here are some quick thoughts/reviews:
ReplyDelete*Crinkle boy shirt in orchid plaid: Ran large….like a full size. Anyone else notice this? Usually all crinkle shirts are on the small side on me. Loved the colors, but looked sloppy…like someone balled it up and ran over it. Will retry when I see a smaller size since this could be a good spring/summer shirt…once it is ironed a bit.
*Embroidered tunic: TTS…I took a small (I’m a 6 in shirts). Couldn’t get this one to look cute on me, so a pass.
*French-print popover: TTS, liked print better in person, but not so much on me. I can totally see someone rocking this, but I think the popover fit just didn’t work on me.
*Tipped silk tee in windowpane: Took a 4 (size 6 in perfect shirts), liked this since it has a slight bit of stretch due to the spandex.
Next trip I’ll try on the Side-stripe skinny sweatpant. They look like they are well-made…a bit of a heavier weight cotton. Overall, I left pretty disappointed, probably more so than I’ve been in awhile. I'm over the popover trend J.Crew has going on.
The crinkle boy shirt in orchid plaid was huuuuuuuuuuge! Maybe even 2 sizes bigger than it should have been.
DeleteI liked the side-stripe skinny sweatpants. I'd like to hear from anyone who has washed them and dried them, how did they do?
ooh thanks for your review on the tipped silk tee in windowpane. it's eligible for the 50% off so i'm very tempted...
ReplyDeletethis is such a great top, i'm surprised it's not sold out!
DeleteI bought this in store a couple weeks ago. I'm purchasing some new suiting soon, and I thought the top would be great with a black suit. It runs large - I definitely went down one size.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteI have the windowpane blouse as well - love it. I also sized down, and have already worn it several times - paired it with a bright pink cardigan and the leopard Martina wedges, with jeans and a black leather sleeve blazer, and the wild berry Minnies and a black cardigan. (a few pics on my blog and IG here and

my factory store had 60% off clearance-i found a gray herringbone blazer for $37 after my student discount! very good deals, but limited sizes.
ReplyDeletewent in for returns & to hv the security sensor removed from the jacket i bought online. the SA stated i was the 3rd customer this week that had to come in bc items were shipped from stores that failed to remove the sensors. ended up leaving w/ a camo wool scarf that was $25 before the adl 50%. hv been stalking it online & it never popped bk but the store *literally* had a pile of them

ReplyDeleteOT- any idea when the rest of the Feb style guide items will show up online?
ReplyDeleteMy store told me they get more items on tuesday.
DeleteHTH
Has any New Yorker been to the Time Warner store recently and can tell me if there is still a sale section? I am regretting a bit the tartan popover, and the last time I went there they had tons of them. TIA!
ReplyDeleteWho was it that ordered the GoldSign Jenny debut jeans? How's the fit (I have small hips, small bum)... hoping it's not too baggy on me! Also are the cuffs supposed to be frayed/holed/distressed? the online pics don't seem to indicate that....
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
Delete@snowbrdgrl, I just received my debut jeans yesterday. The cuffs come folded and when I unfolded them, there was a definite wear/distress line at the fold. I have not idea if it is intentional or not, but I didn't care for it in the context of the rest of the relatively non-distressed look (hope that makes sense!). Also, they were very (too) snug on me around the hips, okay in the thighs and legs. With the lowerish rise, it wasn't flattering at all. I ordered my toothpick size and one size up from my matchstick size. Also, and I think this was most surprising, the wash did not look at all like it did on the website- much lighter overall. On the plus side, the denim felt very high quality. I will be returning them though, for the price, they had to be a lot more fabulous than they are.
DeleteThank you for this information - disappointing to hear that there is distressing where the fold is - I agree it looks like (from the website pics) that it's supposed to be a "cleaner" looking jean in a nice dark wash too! The price is still high even on md so if I don't absolutely love them, I will not hesitate to return also!
DeleteI'm not hitting the store, but I have about eleventy-billion reviews to post. Today I posted reviews of the Maison Labiche™ for J.Crew tees (sale) and the chambray popover (promo) here.
ReplyDeleteSomehow I missed the Maison Labiche™ for J.Crew tees! Thank you for your post and review, I ordered the Ooh La La just now.
DeleteGlad to help! :)
DeleteOT-but I received my majesty peacoat in navy and I LOVE it. I got a size 4 (wear a size small in almost everything at j crew) and it fit perfectly...I love it!! Amazing quality.
ReplyDeleteDid stop by to do a return. Nice to see some springy items on a cold and snowy day. I did purchase the Pavé line drop earrings A5910. Usually J Crew earrings are too much for me but these were very subtle. Stopped in at Madewell and picked up the Cargo Tunic Dress in Navy for $21. They were having 50% off sale items. This is a nice little throw on dress for any season, I can imagine it for spring/summer with flats/sandals and now with boots. It was a decent length on me, at 5' 1", maybe short for you taller or normal sized JCAs. But hard to resist at such a great price.
ReplyDeleteI stopped by my local store today and the sale section was practically nonexistent. They did have several of the silk windowpane tees and the gold-stripe dress if anyone is looking for these. This was the at Fair Oaks mall in VA.
ReplyDeletePark Royal & Pacific Centre had 50% of sale items. Sale section non-existent at Robson for a while.
ReplyDeleteSome reviews here.
Has anyone seen the Hooded Basket-Weave Jacket (Item #09619)in real life? Any thoughts on it? I am looking for something like this. I would have preferred a draw-string waist though. Interested to hear people's thoughts on it / any reviews. Thanks! :-)
ReplyDeleteI saw this on Friday and thought the quality was good. I was actually looking at it wondering if I could ever wear it..but I don't think we have the right weather for it. It would be great for chilly, rainy days. The fabric is a bit stiff but seems as if it would keep water out. There is a texture to the fabric that I found really pretty. I would definitely buy it if I thought it would get any wear. I would probably wait until it went on sale bc I always wait for sales but it was definitely a well made coat and I think the quality is there on this one.
DeleteThanks reaganflowers! They didn't have it at the B&M I visited this weekend. Hope I can try it on soon!
Deletehi sunny i tried on the jacket this past weekend and posted a review of it HERE. i agree with reaganflowers that it's stiff but well made and functional, depending on where you live. hope that helps!
DeleteThanks guys. I may never know if I like it or now...Unfortunately I just went online and it is already sold out. I can't believe it.
DeleteDo any JCAs own the piped suede ballet flats and can chime in regarding cushioning, sizing, comfort and quality? TIA?
ReplyDeleteHas anyone seen the Deco Arrowhead cuff in person? The website picture doesn't show the other side of it.
ReplyDeleteAlso, what do you all think of the new Campbell Capri pants? How do you think they fit compared to the Cafe Capri pants?
Hi Cate, I was at my B&M store yesterday and tried on the Campbell Capris yesterday at the suggestion of one of the SAs; she had received very positive feedback from the other customers - they are supposed to be better fitting than the Café Capris. However, I found the Campbells to be roomy in the legs though the seat was flattering. For reference, I have a straight body type, usually wear a size 0, and don't have much of a butt so I find that some of the pants have extra room in the seat for me. A different SA mentioned that the hem of the Campbells also flare vs. the Cafes and I noticed that too. HTH.
DeleteCate, I really liked the campbell capri. I took my normal size and found that it was more fitted in the seat and so much more flattering than the cafe capri. I'm short so they are like a full length pant on me. I'm definitely picking these up in black. HTH.
DeleteThanks for the review AD MD! I think most Cafe Capris fit me perfectly (except for the retail wool ones, for some strange reason), so I'm not sure how the Campbell Capris will be on me. I'm not sure I need more fitted in the seat! :)
DeleteDid you end up getting the Arrowhead cuff? I'm also curious as to what it looks like in person!
DeleteI ran into my store today to make a few returns. Did not feel like trying on much. The only thing I did try was the oversized merino sweater w/the deep side slits. I really like that, but would never purchase at FP. I tried a sz. S, which is my normal size for sweaters and I think it fits TTS. It's meant to be oversized, but it fit right for its shape. I think it will be very cute w/ Pixies or skinny jeans. I like the graphic designs on some of the t-shirts but I HATE the crappy linen material. It is so cheap looking and see through. I didn't try on the striped skinny sweatpants, but they are so cute! Other than that, not another thing caught my eye.
ReplyDeleteI picked up the Marled Jewel Sweatshirt in Navy Vanilla today. However I am on the fence a bit with it. I am so used to buying on sale, but think we are a month away from the next one. It bugs me to pay full price. The other thing is that I picked it up in small (my normal top size) and loved it on its own, but think it is actually a bit of a snug fit if I want to wear a collar shirt under it. The medium looked good with a shirt underneath, but a little big if I were to wear it on its own. The online description says "slightly loose fit" but I did not find that at all. Anyone else tried it yet? Descisions, decisions....
ReplyDelete@sunny... I came this close to buying it full price today myself. I absolutely love it and will end up buying it one way or another. I agree with you on the fit- with a "slightly loose fit" it should have been, well... looser! In loose fits, I am usually a M, but would have to go to a L in this one (with or without layering). HTH!
DeleteI'm usually a M (or sometimes a S), but I bought this sweatshirt in a L. It definitely looks better as a "loose fit" (at least I HOPE it does!).
DeleteI stopped by my Factory store- it was extra 60% off sale but I was mainly there to check out the Frankie Chinos. I know someone was looking for a review of those earlier. They were a definite wait-for-sale for me, maybe even a complete pass. The cut of them is lovely, nice straight leg that stopped right at the top of my ankle bone (I'm 5'4, wear a 26 in toothpicks, and tried on a size 2, which would be the right size for me). The downside was the fabric. They had a soft, fuzzy, broken-in feel, which I actually liked, but was thin so it showed everything- underwear lines in the back, and most egregiously, where the lining for the front pocket cuts across mid-thigh in the front. Sizing up to the 4 helped a little with the fabric show-through, but I could still tell, and the lower legs were way too baggy which would make them a no-go in the bigger size. HTH some of you thinking about them!
ReplyDeleteStopped by (okay, made a specific visit to- drawn in by the Crew-vortex) my favorite local Chicagoland B&M. Got the navy Schoolboy (Love!), the New Balance shoes (bright and cheerful!) and a couple other items. Had a great SA who spent a lot of time with me was awesome. Of note, the ordinarily packed sale section was nearly completely empty (just a few silk tipped tees)! Haven't seen that in two years of shopping this store. I did get on-line pricing and associated sale discounts for everything except the shoes which are not on sale.
ReplyDeleteWas the 50% off sale still going in any B&M's today? I did a send/sale for an item I have been looking for and the SA told me that they were no longer running the 50% off sale promo and rang me up at the full sale price. Just wanted to check because I had thought that the sales were continuing through Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteMarielarue7 - I didn't go to a store this weekend, but the HAPPYSALE is supposed to be good in-store, too. You should've at least recvd an addtl 40% off according to the online legalese.
DeleteI had the same issue as Marielaru7. Found a marked-down item in the tiny sale section. The SA, after conferring with manager, informed me that it was not part of the "final sale" and that the cost was as marked. No additional % off even though the website said "online and in stores". Also didn't get a PA even though the item online was $10.00 less. HOWEVER, because of this, the item was not considered final sale, it was not marked that way on the receipt, and I was told it was returnable. That was really weird.
DeleteThanks Gigi. That's what I thought too. Maybe I'll give CS a call when the item arrives or I'll try another associate at the store tomorrow as I doubt they've shipped it out yet.
ReplyDeleteHi! I realize this is a long shot, but I am wondering if anyone has seen the liberty of london scarf in navy or the cece flats in vintage blush size 9.5? I am kicking myself for not buying those when I could have :(
ReplyDelete
