This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.
So
if you have recently purchased,
or stopped by a J.Crew store to try
on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you
might be willing to share that
information with us in this post.
Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.
In
particular, if you could
mention a few of the noteworthy
details like fit, size, fabric, and the
like— that would be fantastic! Thanks
in advance! :)
I reviewed the jeweled chandelier sweatshirt in this post. Still regular price online at the moment. $119 or $129.99 in-store.
ReplyDeleteI ordered without previously trying anything on during the flash 30% off Crewlet sale last week. Thanks to JCA reviews, I felt confident in guessing my sizes. Love this community.
ReplyDeleteFor reference, I'm 5'4", 34C.
Two items to note besides the Charley sweater that I love from my Crewlet order:
FACTORY WOOL HOUNDSTOOTH BLAZER
item 98732
Size: 2
I was worried about it, but the pattern matches up well at the seams. The sleeves are slightly long, but not a tragedy. Pleased that the blazer fits well in the chest and shoulders. Love that the blazer has an interior pocket and the houndstooth pattern frames it.
FACTORY PONTE PEPLUM TOP IN STRIPE
item a0255
Size: X-Small
I appreciate a pattern in a heavier weight fabric for layers in the winter. Read reviews from JCAs about dissatisfaction with the fit of this top, especially the solid colors. Took a chance with the stripe--good risk, for me anyway. I don't have that gap at the arm hole. Cute top. I would get rid of the exposed zipper in the back, but at least my cardigans will cover it!
One additional comment: holy fast shipping batman. My package arrived less than 72 hours after I ordered.
The Factory store had versions of the Beaded Rose necklace and bracelet. I saw the necklace in yellow and coral and the bracelet in coral. I'm not sure coral is the right description of the color, but it is not J. Crew's "modern red" color either. I think the flowers were all the same size, as opposed to graduated on the retail version, and it might be a slight bit lighter weight but it still feels substantial and seemed well done. I bought the coral necklace. I don't see these online yet.
ReplyDeletehi Cate, thanks for the info! I have the retail version in white and curious to see the factory version of this necklace - I'd be tempted to get the coral :)
Deletei have pics that i will post in a little while.
DeleteThanks Ina! I am not sure what to call the color, maybe you can tell what it is.
DeleteThe Gwen Dress in festival blue. I tried on the color blocked version of this dress last fall and it was so flattering. I really wanted to buy it, but I didn't think I had anyplace to wear it. But the solid color version is very nice too. The neck is a little on the high side but not bad at all. The arm holes are normal, the length is nice and the slit is very flattering. The fit overall was great on me, which is always a welcome surprise with a J. Crew dress.
ReplyDeleteI just posted a review of the Collection calf hair Martinas
ReplyDeletehere. Love them! I went up half a size, as I usually do in the Martina.
Hughes satchel:
ReplyDeleteI purchased a black Hughes bag in-store for $80 (original price $298) in a moment perhaps overly influenced by the 50% off promo. I was drawn to the style of the bag - different and not too blingy. I have gotten many compliments on it.
The Hughes bag is a little odd to use on a daily basis. It is too small for those of us accustomed to bringing a lunch or a pair of flats with us to the office. But it is also too big for an evening out. While it comes with a shoulder strap to attach if one want to, I think that ruins the look. The bag has no interior structure or pockets, which is a little weird given its size. The opening zipper scratches my hands as I take stuff in and out.
I don't heartily recommend it, but neither do I regret buying it. But don't pay more than $80.
$80 is a great price for that! I really liked the textured/embossed leather and the bag folds into a nicer shape when the handles are held together. I like cross-body bags and I think it would have worked in that configuration for me. In the end, it was the size that kept me from buying it, which you described really well. I need my purses to be a bit smaller than this one. For $80, though, I may have been tempted to make it work!
DeleteHas anyone seen the burgundy color in real life? Any thoughts or opinions on it? Is it versatile? Is that a colour I would have to put away once the warmer weather comes? Appreciate any help on this! :-)
Delete...referring to the hughes satchel in the burgundy in the above post.
DeleteReviews of factory new arrivals, including the beaded rose neclace, daisy lace tee and lots of other stuff where i forgot the names, on my blog here.
ReplyDeleteOrdered the factory draped pocket tank in grey and 'neon persimmon.' I have last year's version in the off white and while its got a poly feel it works for my life that I can wash it. So ordered these two, thinking neon persimmon couldn't be really neon, as the picture was a lovely soft tangerine color. Good God, its neon. Like 1985 valley girl neon. Awful color.
ReplyDeleteThanks to Injanuity and her fabulous VPS, I tracked down the black Sabrina coat for $75!! I ordered a size 6, and it's really big through the body of the coat, but the fit in the shoulder area is right. If I'd have gotten the 4, it might have been tight through the shoulders, but probably would've fit better through the body. I wear a 4/6 in JC tops and pants. In any event, it's not so big through the body that it overwhelms me b/c it fits right through the shoulder area. I will really only be wearing it on the rare occasions that I dress up, since I'm mostly in workout clothes, jeans, casual wear most days. I'm pretty happy with it. I think it's a nicely made classic style coat. And for the price I got it at, it's a steal!
