Weekly Share: Other JCrew-like Retailers

This is the weekly "Other JCrew-like Retailers" post (similar to the "Off On A Tangent" posts), where we can share our finds from other retailers that have offerings similar to J.Crew (like Anthropologie, LE Canvas, Gap, BR, Talbots, Ann Taylor, and the like.)

If you have recently encountered items that are similar to J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including experiences with certain merchandise pieces, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. I hit up Banana this past weekend. They had fab new arrivals and a great 40 percent off promo. I keep crossing my fingers that each morning when I visit jcrew.com that magical elves made all of the final sale crap vanish and that fabulous inspiring new arrivals are finally available. God, the store was SO depressing on Saturday. My girlfriend who was with me is not a J. Crew shopper. It was the first time she had ever been in the store, and she said it looked empty. And, well it did! I was kinda horrified. (Come on J. Crew, I'm your biggest fan!) Anthro was bumping, too. Tons of cute new stuff, and they were having an amazing sale. J. Crew always has this weird limbo period right after Christmas. It gives me anxiety.

    1. It has seemed empty for a while now. Other stores and online retailers have gotten new merchandise after the post-Christmas inventory period. J. Crew needs to get with the program. There are lots of places to shop that don't have empty shelves or old shop-worn sale stuff.

    1. I am passing by the JC sales because there's nothing I want/like, but I did pick up a bunch of stuff from Club Monaco recently at their 40% off sale online (and the stuff is returnable!) Their stuff is pricey but I am finding the styles a bit more feminine than JC but still clean cut, and most of the stuff makes it to sale and then there's the extra 40% off.

  7. I'm loving the No Worries jeans from Sundance catalog. They are out of stock right now but pop back from time to time. The distressing is a bit odd on the back of the calves but I forgive them for that because they are that awesome lol. They really suit my body type and look and feel good no matter how much of a fat day I am having. They have a new pair called the Flatterer jeans that look like the same brand in a different wash. I'm going to give those a try.

Boden rolled out their Summer 2014 Preview a few days ago. I wrote about it here at this post .

To receive 20% off with free ship and returns, make sure to use PRV3 in the code box on the shopping bag page.

  10. Got an email from Everlane this morning regarding new arrivals and the ability to put yourself on a wait list to shop one day early. You can wait list for specific groups of items that may interest you. Some lovely items…

  11. Does anyone know if Talbots does site wide promos like 20-30% off everything? I am interested in buying a suit from them but I am not familiar with how often they have promos. Thanks!

  12. I used the piperlime code. Thank you! Combining the use of the code and some gap credit I got some Paige jeans for $50!

  13. The UK brand Boden (www.bodenusa.com) is really great and reminds me a lot of JCrew. I've been quite happy with their clothes, specifically blazers. The site also has user reviews on each item so you can get tips (like here) on fit & style/fabric.

  14. I saw a woman with some gorgeous jacquard type slim pants on this morning. They were off white with a square/circle print in mint and maybe tan? Anyhow, they were full length pants and the most gorgeous neutral color palette. Does anyone know where to get full length jacquard pants for tall women? I have a wedding in May to go to and would love something like this for it.
