This is the weekly "Help Style Me!" post, where we can share items we are having trouble putting outfits together with. Elaine (in this
post) says it best, "You know, that thing you
bought because you love it and you keep pulling it
out and then putting it away without wearing it?"
Please
share your J.Crew item (either that you own or
are thinking about getting) that you would love help
creating an outfit with.
Also,
please help out by offering your styling advice. Feel
free to include links to your blog (where you
incorporated that piece) or to Polyvore (where you
showcased an outfit with that piece). Thanks in advance!

Hi, this may be a little OT...Has anyone washed the Floral sweatshirt? I just noticed it is dry clean only, but I am wondering if I could get away with hand washing?
ReplyDeleteWas that the jacquard one from the fall? If so, I washed and line dried the green silver version and it looks fine. Hope that helps!
DeleteAnd by wash I mean machine "delicates" washed it.
DeleteYes, thank you! Glad to know it survived the machine...that is even better!
DeleteHas anyone put their andie chinos through the dryer? What's the shrinkage like?
ReplyDeleteThe silk boy blouse in owl print-- any suggestions for different ways to style this?? I've been pairing it with a black or blue schoolboy and dark denim for office casual. Help me out of this owl rut!
ReplyDeletejannyisms - Click here for an ootd pic of mine. Other ideas for colors:
DeleteCambridge cable cardi - heather silver
Merino Tippi cardi - heather brownstone, heather grey, pack green, vintage cabernet
It looks great w/the wool schoolboy, in pack green. Basically sold out, but it's a great combo. Could work w/that heather graphite, too.
Thanks Gigi for the suggestions! And thanks for the cutaway crepe dress review-- I totally just pulled the trigger on the black one :)
DeleteI think you could pull off some brights with this blouse too - bright pink, orange or green would be great with the navy print.
DeleteI've been wearing the owl blouse underneath the black cutaway crepe dress at the office when I don't feel like pairing the dress with a blazer--gotten loads of compliments.
DeleteReview of the cutaway crepe dress.
ReplyDeleteBought the Sylvia wedge from Factory...turned out to be the Martina Wedge...and I did not size up as all recommended. Has anyone use shoe stretching spray and has it worked for you..or do i need to sell these and get another size?
ReplyDeleteAN - I use shoes stretching spray for shoes that fit exactly and need some flexibility. I don't believe in pain or blisters for breaking in. The spray helps me avoid that.
DeleteI would take them to a shoe repair shop and have them stretch professionally. I tried to do it myself w/shoe stretching spray and one of those shoe stretchers overnite and wasn't excited about the results. The great thing about having it done professionally is that it takes just a few minutes. And you can put your foot right in to see if that's enough stretch or not. If it isn't, they can do it just a tad more. That way you don't risk going too far.
The upside is the leather lining, so stretching them should work. Good luck if you go that route.
Thanks!! Had not thought of the professional route. Will post my results here for others in a similar dilemma. Hopefully it wont be too costly.
DeleteAN - My friend bought shoes at Macy's and the salesperson stretched them right away in the stockroom. He came out, she tried them on and she wanted them a little more stretched. Stockroom, back, shoes were perfect. If he can do it, I figure a shoe repair will be equal or better. See if they will do it on the spot for you so you can try them on right away. And yes, I'd love to hear what you decide/what happens.
DeleteI will never get shoe repairs done in a mall. Their rent is much higher than other places and that translates into higher costs. I found mine on Yelp.
Hey gigi....decide to sell the shoes...didnt want to take the chance and ruin them. They already look so dainty. Hopefully someone will be interested once i post. I am going to order a size up
ReplyDeleteAN - I'm glad you were able to sell the shoes. It sounds like the next size will be The One ;)
